The problem:-
1- restarts many times.
2-randomly shut down when i open Wi-Fi or apps or use it for more than 5 mins.
3-can't turn on sometimes and can't turn on using charger , only pc companion.
4-Burning Smell.
i know there's another thread talks about this problem but pleaese it's a serious common problem , i bought the mobile yesterday and i can't replace it , i've seen this post in SE forms : -
............................................................................................................
It cost about more than 2 hours, and i sat near the engineer looked at what he was doing, everything.
1. He said before this one,he has fix 4 x10 with the same problem. He checked my phone and told me he must take the phone to parts,i agreeed.
2.The restart problem is neither a software problem nor briefly hardware problem. The reason most likely is welding procedure .Between X10's CPU and the chassis on the M/B there is no bayonet(i'm not sure it's the right word), so the closeness of them only depends on colophony(another word i use google to translate it) and solder (the third one).He said when x10 is koncked or bumped, fissure or something others may appear, and when CPU runs at a high level, the ammeter shows a number above 200mA,you can think its fever.Because goods expand with heat and contract with cold, here comes the flexibility. It may influence the contact between cpu and chassis. So the restart happens. He get the CPU off M/B,clear and rebuilt solder on them very carefully, and packed everything back.THIS COST TWO HOURS.
3.When parts became back to a phone,I push sim card,sd card back, truned it on,it booted successed. Then i run the Backup and Restore app,no problem. Before repaired erverytime i run it, the phone restarted.view www web use the brower by 3G, opened servel windows,no problem;Played Asphalt 5 for 10 mins, the phone became hot, still no problem. So i paid for it and left. That cost fuxk 500RMB,nearly 100$!!!!!!!!!!
4.When the engineer was soleing it, i talked to him,he said G7 also has a lot of problem,G7 use the smae CPU as x10,it also may restart.

anyone tried this?????
please if anyone has fixed this problem (i know i can change the motherboard but it cost alot , I need Electric solve) . and it's not a software problem at all and n ot in the battry .

and btw the phone works well when it's cold but it shut down when it's worm or using Wi-Fi or Calling . so to re-operate it you need to put it in air conditioner then but the battery back and switch on
So far no problem.
By the way the phone had no warranty?
yea , i bought it used and it looks that someone bought it from china and sell it here so the warranty doesn't cover my country.
thanx for telling me that x10 doesn't have another factory problems.
i send it today to one of those small repair places , they said the IC's are burned because of short circuit or something like that so we'll see what will happen tomorrow.
it cost me around 100$ but it doesn't matter as long it work.
sorry to say it but you buy cheap, you get cheap. might have to shell out for some repair work or ditch it and buy a new one. hard luck man.

my friend I am sorry but there is no quick fix for something like this. To repair SMT type circuit boards you need a clean room environment and also some very expensive equipment. My advice is to get a new handset, there are a few people on here that need some parts for their phones and you can off set the cost of a new handset that way.
thanx for the advice , i'll replace it with one that works and with a warranty . this will be my last time buying cheap S***, i really like it and i hope they release android 2.0 soon for it.

As I said there are people who need parts, so it will not be a total loss!
where are you located? I need a few bits.
Tomorrow i'll sell it with around 150 dollar, i'll replace it with another X10 but with WARRANTY this time
just found this thread and it seems to describe my problem with my x10. If the crashing is heat related would using a cpu underclock help?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=831658 for more info
my phone doesnt charge the battery, but charging animation is playing, gave to service centre, they told motherboard replacement, but that told we dont do for the handsets without warranty.... pls help how can i sort this prob.
I don't agree with the first post, I had this problem too, and the problem was bad, but as soon I as I flashed with the latest firmware, that problem seems to have been fixed, gone by 2 days without any restarts.
i also have this problem.
The worse is now my charged battery will become red low batt at first and recharge itself back to normal without plug in power...i think i just solve the world energy problem here.
May have fixed the problem, for a bit.
I bought one of these used (x10a), I basically got ripped off by some guy that must have known about the issue. Anyway, I tore the phone apart down to the screen, I left that intact. I cleaned the housing, motherboard and sound jack with compressed air (lightly), cleaned contacts that looked a little dull. I noticed the foil covering the CPU and other components was a little askew and there were some heat bubbles forming. I used a mini spatula as a squeegee and got rid of the bubbles, cleaned up the edges around the foil to insure they didn't contact their neighbors and put the thing back together.
Before this I could use the phone for a call for longer than 2 minutes, the second I ended the call it would crash/reboot. Same with playing games and listening to music at the same time. Movies, forget it. I don't want to curse it because it has only been a day, but no crashes yet and I'm doing/running everything I can to try and get this thing to crash. If it was the bubbles contacting other metal in the chassis then they will probably return sometime in the future.
Who knows.
For now, I say it's fixed. I hope.
I downloaded the schematic and disassembly, reassembly instructions off the net.
UPDATE: Cleaning did not work, I really didn't think it would but it was worth a try. I did however rebake the main board in my convection oven for 10 minutes at 210 degrees Celsius and it worked. I have uploaded videos to youtube. If you're like me, no warranty and don't mind tearing things apart. Check out my videos on youtube, do a search for MrSpywhite.
I had the same problem and SE replaced the motherboard.

That sounds like good news, I have a friend with a similar problem, but his phone has the same behaviour faster than yours... did really work? any problems after the bake? (mic, speaker) ?
Sorry for bumping in a old thread but I am also facing the same problem i guess. Anyone got it to work ?
The motherboard is costing me Rs.8000 ( 160$ approx ) and its a 2 yr old phone. Cant spend that much now on such an old phone.
This solution might help on that cases, as main reason for such things are Pb free soldering (small balls between CPU and MB).

Of course you do it on your own risk...
I checked out a few other threads, on a couple forums and dont think anyone has been stupid enough to do this so far...
about 4 months ago, I was lost and my phone was dead, having bodged a car charger together I plugged it in.
The phone turned on, booted up and I got the SatNav software running, but before I could drive off it started flashing.. screen, lights, like a tiny disco....
Then it smoked, quite a lot for a second or two, by this time I'd took battery out and dis-connected the charger but it was too late, the phone was dead.
I got home, put the battery in a desktop charger til it was full and the phone has remained at it's current condition since.
So; it won't turn on, vibrate or flash any lights. The ONLY thing it does, is power up the right hand side bottom white light between the home key and back button.
I've been Ebaying since the day I killed it for a spares one, tried buying a main board but no joy anywhere without paying over £70 (and that's for a complete but knackered handset).
My dad's good with phones, his mate better also both of which said i've burnt out some chips. Some do kinda, have small 'holes' in, and I wiped a 2GB card too, wont work in anything else.
Without spending silly amounts on a new phone can I not do anything with this? Apparently everything except the main board should work (screen, digitizer etc)..
Help anyone please? -ta.
I suggest that you contact your local support team because I think this is something that needs to be examined at a repair center.

I dropped my X10a, and cracked the screen/digitizer. Is it easier to replace the whole housing or just the digitizer? Any suggestions on which company supplies OEM parts at the best prices?

SG2, bought in some shop in China, now live in Thailand, Revo HDv6, various kernels depending on my mood.
I've read about this problem in a few different forums, but not here - THE forum for android...
I was getting reboots after I turned the phone off (it won''t stay off!) After some research I decided it was some **** in the USB port so I gave it a good brushing and fixed the problem
But now it's back and the brush won't fix it
Evidently the SG2 is sensitive to shorts across the pins...
Now it won't even turn on unless I have it plugged in - I get some battery overheating warning at boot (with both batteries) even though it is obviously not overheated.
However, once I turn it on while (any) plug is in the port, it runs fine - plugged or unplugged.
OH!!! apart from crap battery life now, I lose 25-60% overnight, without any data, wi-fi or other activity.
I've done lots of wipes and reinstalls of different ROMs, kernels, wipe cache, battery stats etc but to no avail...
I guess it's time to bite the bullet and take it in to some Thai repair shop.... Hmmm. Dangerous...
Any stunning ideas that make me happy???
Maybe a cotton bud just moist (not wet) with isopropyl alcohol.
this happened to me when i got my SGS2 usb port wet... and the problem is obviously hardware problem.. so the only 100% sure fix is replacing it... you have 2 choices here
first: buy off samsung official usb connector for SGS2 and replace it (video guide in youtube)
second: send it to repair shop/samsung retail seller to fix it.. and if i read it correctly and understand it correctly.. you cant get warranty of it because you bought it from china and is now in thailand right? so.... if you go to samsung retail seller it will cost minimum 30 euro (sorry i only know the price for europe) and depending on what they need to do it may increase to 150 euro
so... if you choose the second option.. be ready for high prices...

Thanks! It gives me a ballpark figure and a solution. Yes, I'd decided it was hardware.
I'll try the IPA, then take it apart and take a look with a magnifying glass, might be a wee flaw I can scratch out between connectors... then, if I f*** it up, I can replace the port.
I can call them plans A, B, and C haha.
Hello everybody, this is my first post here, and I hope that I'm not posting in wrong place, if I did that, I am sorry. Now, as the title says, i have problem with the digitizer on my WT19i, the thing is that I cracked my original digitizer, but it was still working great, even broken as hell , than I went to a local mobile shop, where I've been told that the replacement brand new digitizer will cost arround 40 bucks, and arround 50 with their installation and it will be truly genuine part, but after I saw how they were repairing mobile phones with parts flying all over the shop, I decided to replace the digitizer by myself, i mean how hard could it be right? Turned to be a little complicated, but nothing special at all, so I replaced it with new double sided glue tape (don't know for the real name for it), and I assembled the phone like it should be, and I was maximum careful during the process (took me about 5 hours ), but when I turned it on, I noticed that the digitizer was not very precise, and sometimes was stuck in non-workable state, the hard keys work all the time, but the digitizer doesn't, it seems like it has mind of it's own, he decides when to work and how, so I opened the device again, reinstalled everything, cleaned ports with alcohol, and reassembled it very careful again, but still the same issue. Then i tried everything to eliminate software mistakes, but when I opened flashtool, and connected the device, it said "your device is not recognized", so I dissasembled the device, and put the old digitizer in, turned the device on, and imagine, the digitizer was working even it is with missing pieces from it, and Flashtool then recognized the device, installed busybox to the device ( I am sure that I had busybox before, and the device was working great ), but nevermind, I put back the new digitizer, and has been recognized in Flashtool, so I relocked bootloader and installed GB factory rom, v58, so the device is in the factory state right now, but guess what, the same problem is still here, tried hard reset, and many other stuff, but no luck. I tried to go to the shop and they told me that I didn't mounted it properly , I guess it's because I didn't pay to them to mount it, however, they won't replace the part and no money back .. I don't know exactly how to see is the digitizer genuine/faulty, or is some other hardware or software fault, but I've noticed that on the original digitizer it has some barely visible horizontal and vertical lines, and on the new digitizer the same lines are diagonally placed, and I can tell that the new part looks kinda cheap and low quality. So if someone has some kind of a solution, I will be greatly thankful to him. Please help me, because I become desperate about this, spended my money and now I am still in the same mess. sry for the bad english, it's not my native language, and sry for the long and exhausting post.
I guess you won't have luck
Just a short summary:
-Your digitizer was bricked
-You bought a new one for 40 bucks (instead of 50 including replacing in the shop)
-You opened the device and replaced it
-It was not working properly
-You put on the old one and it worked
-You went to the shop and told them it's not working, but they are angry because you tried to do it by yourself and so they didn't want to replace the new digitizer
-The new digitizer looks cheap and you can't get back the money...
Did I get that right?
Hmmm.....when buying original digitizer, make sure there come with tools included in the packages....if your digitizer only then make sure its not from china.....
it's not hard to spot original digitizer and cheap digitizer...original digitizer comes with warranty and the cheap one can be spot by looking at the ribbons....also original digitizer fits perfectly on any LWW while the cheap one will have a small gaps from the cover....
as for you problem, you should ask the shop if the digitizer comes with tools and if there a warranty for it...if it doesn't then you should just lets the shop replace the digitizer cause if somehow any problem came out then you can blame them

Yep, you got it.. is there any solution available for it or should I bent my tail and go buy new one from another mobile shop?
I finally solved the problem. I went to the authorized service, and they said that my digitizer is just fine, charged me 10 bucks, BUT, i was kinda suspicios about the repair, because they told me that the software was reinstalled and the problem was solved, which was ridicilous, because I personally changed and tried every possible software and kernels that I could find, so I tested the device right in front of them, holding other customers behind me waiting until I check it , turned out that the same problem is still present, I was pissed off, they were stunned that I found them lying to me, they took the phone back, changed the digitizer, charged me plus 30 bucks, and here I am, with finally fully working device. I just can't believe that Sony is allowing this to happen, I am totally disapointed in their customer care, and I just wanted everyone who has the same problem, broken digitizer etc. the original digitizer comes with the whole front cover, not only the glass, but the whole thing. I hope this post can help someone to not go through my pain and costs.
Hello:
This is my first post here. I bought my G5 a few months ago and everything worked perfectly, but yesterday, without falling to the ground or getting wet, the phone began to do odd things and I turned off the phone. When I connected the original cable to charge the battery I got this message (I hope you can watch the link):
galeriade.com/eldruida/data/media/160/DSC_4135_2.jpg
I tried in all ways to turn the phone back on (removing the battery and putting it back), but I always get this message. What do you think?
Sorry for my bad English. Thank you very much. Greetings.

Although having never seen this image before, I think we can infer from this that it's telling you to replace the bottom section of the phone.
Maybe you could try cleaning the contacts inside with isopropyl alcohol and the ones on the bottom section itself possibly also the usb port.
I'm assuming you don't have the cam plus or any of the other so called friends you could try in it's place.
You can buy replacement bottom sections online but depending on the part of the world you live in you may have to wait a while for delivery.
Good luck.
Take note if ordering a replacement that there are two types of bottom section one is labelled GL and the other NA, GL is for the global variants of the phone the other for North America.
