Hi All - I bought a S6 Edge which was from Vodafone UK and I am using it on EE network. Unfortunately it's missing 1 thing, Wifi calling option. So question is, can I flash a generic or EE firmware using kies/odin without rooting/unlocking bootloader and potentially avoiding warranty?
When I say avoid warranty i mean having the option to go back. I understand that Knox triggers something when phone is modified? I have no interest in root.

Thanks in advance.
Yes you can. It's the first thing I did when I received my phone from Three. I got the unbranded Samsung BTU firmware from Sammobile and flashed via Odin. You do not need root and it will not trip knox because it's official firmware. The warranty status will remain intact.

Yes that guide looks fine, I only ever use the Odin method myself. I also used Odin3 v3.10.6 rather than the v3.9 listed in the guide but I doubt it would make much difference. Just be sure to follow the steps exactly. No problem bro.

Cheers, one last thing, will this give you OTA updates?
Yes, you won't be modifying the firmware. As long as you don't flash a custom rom/kernel or root your S6 you'll keep the warranty and get OTA updates. I even think that using the unbranded BTU firmware will get the updates faster because there is no waiting for the network to add extra bloat or a boot animation/image etc. You will probably need the EE firmware for WiFi calling though....I don't know about that.
Sent from my SM-G925F
thanks, all converted
the wifi calling is on EE firmware but I think I can live without it for now

I have a Vodafone Germany Galaxy S6 Edge (G925F) and my phone already received a new OTA the very first day I setup the phone. The current firmware my phone is running is the "ODG" one.
I have noticed that the UK / Europe Model (XEU) has the latest firmware "OE3"
http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/download/46968/G925FXXU1AOE3_G925FOXA1AOE3_XEU/
I checked at Sammobile forums they informed that as long as my Vodafone Germany Galaxy S6 Edge is unlocked I can flash the "XEU firmware".
Here is what they found from the XEU firmware:

I believe you can also flash the same firmware for your VOdafone UK model.
It is a new firmware compared to the one available for the BTU model.
I am just wondering if I do flash the firmware through Odin, will I loose all the data (Videos, Photos and MP3) which I have stored in my phone?
Hi all
I tried this using the instructions in the link above and with the latest unbranded UK firmware from sammobile but keep getting a fail about 1/4 of the way in.
I'm trying to flash over EE firmware on a carrier locked phone.
Any ideas?!

You can't flash any other firmware if your phone is carrier locked.
If you got to this forum you will see that I had posted a similar question and the answer I got was if the phone is unlocked you can flash firmwares from other models in the region.

Ok, thanks.
I had thought this was possible as I read a post elsewhere that someone on EE had done it. Can't find the post now though to ask a question!
Hey everyone
Got my s6 edge today but unfortunately it has the o2 logo on boot up.
Is it possible to flash a unbranded (btu if that is correct) firmware on the phone without tripping the knox on to the phone? I don't want to root just want to remove the branded firmware.
If so do I do it with odin?
Appreciate the help
Thanks
Yes and yes
i want to debrand my s6 edge now i have unlocked it. does anyone know what firmware is unbranded. my CSC states O2U. sorry, bit of a noob at this.
Hi, should be ok! I flashed mine to unbranded Aus firmware. As long as it is stock firmware signed by samsung it shouldn't trip knox.
sammobile should be able to help you get the unbranded version. What is your model?
OK. Need a little help guys
S6 Edge G925F on 7.0 branded EE UK rom, but I have unlocked device through legit code from EE themselves, all good.
Trying to flash BTU rom 'G925FXXS5EQG1_G925FBTU5EQF1_G925FXXU5EQCD_HOME.tar.md5' via Odin3, and it's a no go, as it just hangs at the 'HIDDEN' part in Odin.
'G925FXXU5EQFH_G925FEVR5EQE1_G925FXXU5EQF1_HOME.tar.md5', which is EE based, and flashes just fine, but I'm wanting an unbranded stock rom, with no EE ****, and also no 'custom' ****. I was under the impression that the BTU version gave this?, but it will not flash (at least the one above, which is latest) at all? Not interested in 'PAY' rubbish, nor 'FITNESS' trash, nor calling over WiFi.
Any ideas, or am I missing something?, like my brain! lol?

Any particular reason you want to flash BTU? The only difference is you won't have the my EE app and lookout.
You will lose voLTE and WiFi calling. Other than the removal of the couple of bloat apps nothing will change only you will lose some features.
Anyway if you want to go ahead it's very simple, you can either
•unzip the firmware and manually remove the hidden.img then repack and flash and it will pass.
Or
•flash this PIT file through PIT options in Odin whilst flashing the firmware. Enable repartition before flashing

Option 1 is easiest and more convenient.
Many thx!!, worked a treat
Hi, I just got Galaxy S9+ and it is bloated with LG Uplus menu and apps. Model version is SM-G965N and when i look for firmware in Sammobile only few firmwares are shown. (KOO, LUC, SKC, KTC)
Can I download KOO firmware and flash with Odin to get rid of carrier bloats and return to stock?
I heard that S9 and S9+ have some problems changing CSC. But if i flash like this, would it be considered changing CSC. Would it work to flash with odin like this?
Is there anyone who knows answer to this?
I also want to do the same thing on my s9 plus. can anyone help please ... thanks

just so i have this straight, youre using a Samsung S9+ on a LG cellular service? thats awesome!! the 965N has the Exynos processor, to the best of my recollection, and you can verify this by installing CPU-Z. If it is, you should be able to flash the G965F firmware on it. I have a S9 that i got from Cricket and installed the G960U firmware on it, debranding it and im satisfied with the result. You will likely need the patched version of Odin in order to flash any firmware on it to debrand it. Verify the processor via CPU-Z and we can go from there

G965N with LGU + firmware too And I want to unbrand it too.
i did it already, and went back to stock.
the service guy installed twrp, then installed custom rom- based on 965F/DS- everything was fine. except no 5.8ghz wifi connection, no OTA update menu.
Hi,
Really noob question here.
If I change the XSG ROM that comes with my phone by flashing the BTU ROM on it, does it trips knox?
XSG takes too long to get updates and I would like to switch to BTU, but keep everything legal and working.
I make use of knox so I don't want to loose any secure feature, plus I want to keep it same as I bought it.
Thanks!
PS: If I flash BTU ROM, do I have to reset before or after flashing o I can continue using it like I was with XSG?
Sent from S.G. S9+ Duos
Flashing official roms doesn't void warranty, nor does it trip knox. If you flash HOME_CSC, your device won't be wiped, if you flash the other CSC, your phone will be wiped.
