developor options 411 dp? - Samsung Galaxy S9+ Questions & Answers

I recently played around with the dp option under developer options and found that 460 was a better dp. Although smaller, everything just looks better. Has anyone also played with this? If so share your thoughts and what worked for you along with some opinions and findings. Thanks

Yes, I tried on my tab A 10.1. 320dp is the minimum value, 1600 is the max. 901dp is good for me

windowsmgr.max_events_per_sec????

Ive been searching the forum about this, along with google and its only getting more confusing. See, the rom Im using (pzafroyo 2.2) has this value set to 260 stock. From my searching, some say 260 is the best, while others say 26 is optimum. Thats a huge difference in value, so what is it? I tryed 26, 60, 220 and 260. The only thing I noticed is that on 26 the screen response when going from page to page or the notification bar follow my finger much better where as 60 and above all felt and looked the same(slower response) to me if not maybe appears smoother on higher settings tho not much. Ill take response over smooth any day if thats really what Im seeing, does a higher number tax the phone more? Are there pros and cons to higher or lower? I hope this turns out to be a good resource for others, thanks!
Its faster? So apparently on wolfbreak ROM which is like the fastest in scrolling has 260 in it. it seems faster than all there other ROMs ever had.

[Q] V6 Supercharger on Atrix 4G?

Hey there,
Just have a few questions about the V6 Supercharger script by zeppelinrox.
1. Is it worth it on the Atrix? I know that he says it's great for all devices as you can set your own values as well as have it rearrange the memory groupings but I was wondering if I would see any performance improvements?
2. Can it be applied to the Atrix? With our locked bootloader and all, I have very limited knowledge about this and how scripts work but it talks a lot about init.d and I was wondering would anything need to be changed so that it works with our phones/2nd-Init?
3. If it works and is worth it, what do you suggest I put for values?
- If you want a tutorial that, in my eyes, seems easier to understand then you can find it here. -
Thanks in advance
- DarkRyoushii
would rather bump than make a new thread.. I'm really eager to apply this as it rearranges memory groupings so that it's better for multitasking..
"You must be root of course!"...Check
"Using CyanogenMod 7.x.x!".....FAIL
That is just for the simplified guide. Check the first link or the original thread for it, it says it works on standard Rom

As long as your rooted it will work.
But I'm curious about a few things...
With 1 gigabyte of ram is there ever any lag?
If the phone gets laggy, how much free ram do you have when this happens?
What are the default minfree values?
I was surprised initially that some V6 presets improved droid X2 and evo4g performance but V8 will include megamemory settings, with 512mb devices in mind, of 6, 12, 75, 125, 150, 175 mb
Hey,
How would I go about finding out the default minifree values?
For me I see quite a bit of lag when the ram hits near 200mb however I am also plagued with horrendous lag when using live wallpapers so I'm willing to try everything haha

No, Ive never experienced any lag on the Atrix. Its fast! Some peeps complain about lwp lag, but I dont have a prob with that either. If anybodys Atrix is lagging its because they are doing something wrong.

Run the script.
It will tell you your current minfrees right when you open it under the list of options.
edit: Test this set 6, 12, 150, 200, 250, 300 mb
If it's the ones listed as system default in autokiller memory optimizer then they are:
6, 8, 16, 20, 22, 24

Are you FKM?
lol
Freaking stock telus froyo minfree values are more aggressive at 8, 12, 24, 28, 32, 32
Google's GB values are 8, 12, 16, 24, 28, 32 which are still slightly more aggressive...
Unbelievable.
wow just applied "this set 6, 12, 150, 200, 250, 300 mb" and on reboot my phone is sitting on ~600MB free RAM instead of ~300MB!

And the verdict on LWPs?
still just as broken :/
phone feels snappier when loading menus and stuff though.. like going through settings and stuff.
Heh... well adjusting the mifrees to get more free ram is the easy part.
The hard part is the OOM grouping fixes that always keeps the launcher snappy and finding minfree values high enough that the phone never lags but not so high that it deters multitasking.
So the big question is, is multitasking just as good as before?
When you leave an app and go back to it later, it still remembers what you were doing?
well I'm not usually a big multitasker but I'm able to switch between 5 apps (2 of which are games) seamlessly.. not sure if it's good or not as it's probably the most I've tried at once :3
Probably gonna call it quits for the night though, nearing 3am and I gotta be at work tomorrow morning. Thanks for all your help! really appreciate it
EDIT: Interesting? After Reboot I looked at my new minfree values using your script and found they are different from what I set, they are now 12, 18, 36, 121.094, 128.906 and 136.719
seems slightly odd but okay, still snappier than what I started with anyway I better sleep, will be back tomorrow night!
Akmo or amm may be applying settings on boot
Sent from my Milestone using Tapatalk
I uninstalled both before running this script to avoid that
Sent from my MB860
maybe those are your roms default values?
either way, the V6 settings arent sticking... so you need SM to load at boot either /data/99SuperCharger.sh or /system/etc/init.d/99SuperCharger
Updated V6 SuperCharger includes MegaMemory setting... check it out!
Thanks! how do apply this megamemory setting? also I noticed that after my friend played a game on my atrix it never quit after closing it, the phone ended up getting REALLY hot to the point where I felt it through my pants in class later and looked to find my batter on 17% after 5 hours of being unplugged.. I guess I just have to screw with the minfrees or MegaMemory settings depending on which will help me more..

Encoding video for the tab 10.1

I returned a gtab a while ago since it could not play 24p smoothly. The 10.1 is somewhat better but so far in terms of smoothness it is bested by my N1 and Sensation.
So, what settings are folks using on their encoding? I'm using Handbrake.
I've found that the device cannot do high profile, a limitation of the tegra2 I think, a bummer.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1060825
The tab can do 720p high profile.
With one notable exception, the latest leaked TW rom from calkulin for some reason can't.
But if you're using stock HC 3.1, Bonsai or the euro version of TW it should be fine.
use that preset with Handbrake & you'll be fine
Based on the linked thread I gave dice a try and things are good. Will give the profile a try as well.
Thanks guys!

Edit: It looks like High Profile works, but not in all cases. My dream of dragging my 720p rips and just using them are not gonna happen. No biggie.
FYI if that's my handbrake profile he linked, I've seen reports that the scaling settings I saved don't get loaded. If it's not scaling to a max of 1280 horizontal, 800 vertical, you should set these. Unless you're using the HDMI output you're wasting storage space and encoding time.
All of you are wrong. You cant use 1280 x 800 resolution because the task bar takes up 48 vertical pixel.
None of you are encoding videos correctly.

Lol. Don't feed the troll.
After chatting with the dev for diceplayer it turns out tegra chokes on wheighted p frames. I've gotten 720p24 with cabac and 8x8 working fairly well. Tegra2 does not have robust high profile support.

I dumped my Note II for DNA, amazing when running 320 DPI

Ok I dont live in the USA, but this phones unibody and screen temped me to buy it. So I imported one in. I've had my phone now for a few days and have decided to sell my Note II. Its that good for me.
So it doesn't have the note II battery life, but after I made my own rom for it. (Removed scene, verzion bloat and crap) And the most important thing for me. Run 320 DPI on a 1080p screen, its simply amazing. I dont need super large icons everything upscaled so much. Nova launcher is quick. And Antututu benchmark I get 18k to 20k. That kills my Note II. And it feels faster which is the important thing.
Once i removed the heavy on the CPU/GPU sence and the verizon bloat. My battery life has increased alot and is better than a S3 for sure. I get over 2 1/2 days. Vs 1 & 1/2 to 2 with the Verzion stock rom
If you want the WOW factor back in a mobile, get Apex or Nova launcer. Run 320 DPI (set display setting font size to large) And this phone is THE phone.
My Note II has only one good thing going for it for me personally. The battery life, besides that the S-Pen is good, but in the end i dont use it much. My note II runs 240 DPI, but the screens 720p 267 ppi is not sharp enough for it really.
1080p screens are the future and HTC should release them with smaller scaling, this screen screams for 320 DPI, NOT 480...

2 questions,
1. Desensed Correct? (asking this, because SenseUI constantly FC's below 400.)
2. weather widget, looks pretty spiffy, what is it?
I've been trying to find a good dpi. I never thought to set font to large. Thanks for that advice. I'm going to try it out.

Played with the DNA at a Verizon store yesterday.. First impressions of the screen are pretty good. Don't understand why the need to change DPI (although I did only played with it for 20mins while I was waiting to be served)
However, I'd still take a note 2 over this one. Out of the box the note 2 offers more. Removable storage and battery are key for me. Don't care about the spen but its a nice extra feature. It just all falls down to what works for the user. I can also see why people will choose the DNA over note 2.

How do you set the phone to run 320DPI?
I just received mine yesterday and I have been playing with it today and the phone is fast... I m trying to get a feel for this sense ui but I purchased nova prime for my s3 so I might just install that.
I am glad that somebody feels the same way about the phone.

I used ROM toolbox to edit the build prop and modify the LCD density to 320 and I increased font size to large. It looks good but, it seems to have bugged the aosp lock screen. Its now off center to the right. Anyone know how to correct it? Other than that its a nice ratio of space and readability.

Yes I removed the sense launcher and opted for Nova launcher prime. I used the debloat tool to remove most crap and then worked on more Verzion rubbish that i removed. The weather widget is Aix weather widget and shows the
next 24 hours in a cool way. Its good for battery life vs fancy widget.

I edited the build prop and flashed it via CWM, it took me a while, but settled on 320 DPI as its a perfect size for readability and space (With large font set). That gives no market errors as 320 DPI is a standard DPI used.

Try using the senseless rom here Genome: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2030661
That has a default 4.1 lock screen that works perfect at 320 DPI.
I recommend people try 320 DPI and large font size. once you see it its hard to go back to 480 DPI (Old persons large mode for old eyes) If I get time I might release my custom ROM that features no bloat, no sense and 320 DPI with nova launcher

I flashed genome senseless current version modified dpi again to 320 and still have an offset lock screen, a google search revealed same issue on other phones no fix that i was able to apply to this situation, does it have something to do with setting the dpi using rom toolbox?
Thanks for the great information. I might have to mess around with the DPI to see how it looks.

LCD Density?

Hey guys, I just wanted see see what you guys have safely used for lcd density. And Has anyone tried anything higher than 320. I found this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2256510
for the at&t version. And they had some ideas. One guy used 360 and then used the market fix app he supplied. and it worked. Anyone think this would work on the verizon version?
Or has anyone else tested some other lcd densities that are higher than 320 but lower than the default 480.
i dont mind the 320 but its kinda small
I'm the opposite, coming from the Note 2 I'd want everything to be smaller so I could see more. I was thinking the text and DPI is already way too high!
that is what i want. Everything to be smaller. The default is 480. i tried 320. Cus someone said it didnt cause a soft brick. But i want something higher than 320. But lower than 480. Like say 360-380. So im trying to see if anyone has tried it.

You'd want the DPI to be lower then. On my note 2 the default is 320, by lowering it to 240 all the text and icons get smaller.

I understand that man. Your miss understanding me. I wanted it smaller from 480. Which is default. So i went lower to something someone said didnt soft brick it. to 320 to make it smaller. Now i wanted it bigger again. So i needed to go back up to somewhere around 360. Cus i dont wanna goto 480. But i was wondering if these market fixes worked on the verizon version of the s4 before i tried doing it. But for the record it does.
320-360-400
all work. And the market fix for it can be found here. So this is to fix the incompatible phone problem
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1839871
has dark and light market as well. Which is a bonus
