Hello all, I recently broke my Nexus 5, so after three long years of service it is out of commission. Having used the MIUI 7 rom for the N5, I wanted to use an official Xiaomi device. I'm just curious how my new phone will stand up to the OG N5, Scroll Lag, Animation lag, Features, ect
well if u are fan of miui, than any mid to high end xiaomi device should be more than good for u. I have redmi note 3 sd and miui is smooth and fast. However i prefer cm/aosp over miui. The only reason i bought this phone over nexus device is bcz the nexus devices where i live are ridiculously expensive. (but srsly.... u had nexus 5 and decided to ruin the device with miui... lol )
I gotta disagree with you... miui isnt smooth on kenzo... nor on any other device for that matter. wasn't smooth on RN2 nor MI4 either. sure. few apps loaded might not stress phone much, but there is definitely some jerkiness in the way the Ui works, it stutters regularly when switching apps and just doesn't compare in terms of general fluidity to aosp or caf builds for other devices. thank god for cm lol. anyway, miui runs waaay smother on my old N4 which comparatively has lower end hardware, so it's not hw issue rather sw optimization problem.
however, since ur looking for a xiaomi device and you like miui, this is prolly ur best buy, and if you find it intolerable (like I do) you can always switch to a custom rom
I'm in a dilemma between Moto G4 Plus and Xiaomi Redmi Note 4.
In every single detail I like Redmi Note 4 better except for camera and Software. The camera difference is not an issue for me but software is.
1. Moto provides stock android which I love very much due to its simplicity and stability.
2. I find MIUI annoying.
So, I'd like to know if there is a stable ROM that can give me stock android experience on Redmi Note 4. If there is such a ROM,
1. How stable is it? Can it be at par with the software experience stock android on Moto G provides?
2. Performance of the ROM compared to factory

Try Lineage AEX, RR, AICP (last three are official)
minor bugs are there: yello flash light, slow motion camera not working but lightweight faster AOSP stick rom.
I have not tried yet Slim (official) also better!
Every custom ROM will give you bugs and a decrease in camera quality.
You can try a debloated version of MIUI from xiaomi.eu with a custom launcher like Nova.
Here is how it looks my phone
I had the same reservation about switching to a Miui phone.
However, I run stock Miui rom with Nova Launcher and could not be happier.
Stock rom provides stability and no deterioration to camera, Nova provides stock Android experience.
My personal experience suggests that no custom built rom is bug free. Try to use the rom provided originally by the manufacturer and modify it to suit to your needs by changing the launcher. I toggle between Google and Nova launcher as per mood. However you need to suitable turn on the auto wake functions for some widgets like the digital clock (need to download separately), notification badges etc.
Yes I do wish that Xiaomi should give the option of choosing either a stock android rom or its Miui rom. My personal preference would be the simple, but effective stock android rom (I base this on the experience of Moto g3 I had previously. In retrospect I am amazed the way motorola has integrated the software and hardware so effectively. Despite of high ram and octa core processor, I am disappointed by the software + hardware performance of the note 4, even my wife complains about the software and speed of the MI Max she has after shifting from the Moto X Play)
Problem like yellow flash, slow motion DOES exist on MIUI rom...
The latest stable MIUI rom is very problematic for so many users, many find gps sucks, battery sucks, device lags, etc after the update...
I never got this issue when using AospExt, LOS or PA.
for me... MIUI sucks, period...
I would not buy xiaomi device if there is no option for other ROMs like LOS, RR, PA, etc...

i have to agree, tried a lot of roms, most of them have mobile data problems to me (not working) now im on miui 9 and erased a lot of crap, and it works great, battery is amazing, im getting every notification so no problem there, and camera is working fast. in custom roms camera is terrible to be honest,

I used Moto G before and really love vanilla android provided by Motorola. The moment I got my RN4, I try to adapt with MIUI. However, I'm getting a lot of gps issues while using it. I end up switching to Slim rom which give me almost the same experience that I had with my old Moto G.
Plus note, no gps issue when using Slim rom. Working as expected.
The advantage of redmi note4x is that it's a good battery. The battery capacity of 4000 mah is very large. And the qualcomm snapdragon 625 processor is a 14nm process, so the heating life is really strong. But there are drawbacks: the camera and the level of photography are not mediocre; Screen quality is general. Using long eyes can make you feel uncomfortable. I don't know if that's the case, but at least my phone is. Finally, the MIUI system is very bloated. If you like native android, I suggest you buy the MOTO. But note4x is a cost-effective option

Its not a bug for me.
I'm not focused on this. Photos and videos quality are sufficient for an occasional use.

How do you get every notifications?
I clean flashed the last global rom and I have feeling, that I still dont get all the notifications instantly.
Whatsapp/Messenger works, but apps like eBay, forums etc. seem not to work every time.
Have you made any changes to apps, or you made some battery saver modifications or something?

Ive been using stock roms from the time i got my kenzo. Stock roms are great and so much feature rich. The recent launch of MiUi 10 has many interesting features and it has made me think if I should go back to MiUi just for the visual experience. I mean user experience is also important right. What do you guys feel?
Quite a subjective question. I only use miui like a week. I don't the visuals nor the amount of crapware it has.

Agree, few like MIUI and few like me hate it from the core of the heart. I kept my phone in drawer for 14 days until I was able to unlock the bootloader. I can't stand MIUI, I can still use buggy AOSP rom instead of stable MIUI.

Miui gives u good features. Good camera quality, audio experience, battery life too. It also has inbuilt call recorder. But it has stock gapps which u may not use all and consider it as unnecessary bloat.
Even if it has so many features people mostly prefer higher android version and go with custom roms. Coz it has better performance, security and new innovative features and much improved core structure.
As mentioned before, I've never seen anyone neutral about miui. This ROM is made and optimized for xiaomi devices and there are many features only miui can give compared to others. The convenience and the visual experience, the smoothness of miui kept me going back to it again and again - Epic ROM Miui9 was the best build I've tried and used for a 6-8 months. Now I use oreo RR, because this is now on a level to compete user experience with miui... I mean this was... before miui 10.
Now I really hope that both, android P and miui 10 will be ported to this device, and I can try both before decide. I love my oreo setup now, but this is getting boring after months of use...

Its the same thing with me.. Oreo setup with AEx rom is cool bt its getting boring now and all stock roms have more or less the same features. Miui 10 videos are too tempting to give a try wen its out.
Hey guys, I found this
https://mirrors.lolinet.com/firmware/gsi/MIUI/
Do you think this images could work on our device?
Why did you get a mi a3 if you wanted miui? Redmi note 7 or mi 9cc have miui.
And why would you actually want memeui on your device in the first place.
Better to stick with something with little bloat

Because of the features, I know some people who prefer MIUI over stock because of some of the features that it provide. There are people who likes the MIUI look than the stock look. I know people who really adore the so called "bloatware". Also MIUI used to provide better battery life than stock android back in the day, but I don't know how's that situation right now.
That should explain your "Why?" concern

And so ..... Will it work or not? Because your answer does not solve the question at all. I'm glad you're happy with Android stock, but there are other people who want to try MIUI (by the way, calling it MEMEUI wasn't funny the first time, so you can end calling it that way) so just let other people do whatever they want without judging them..
Stock android is really boring compared to miui. I always root so adverts are not a problem. Miui has matured into a very good rom, which useful features & battery life. I wanted to give android one a try, but so far not impressed. I am sure its the same way many others feel too. You can move from miui to aosp (treble) but cant move from Android One to Miui, which makes me admit that Miui phone is even a superior choice.

For me stock android is the best rom ever, i really don't care about bullshits that xiaomi call features ? The faster rom have one name : Stock Android
I was looking into custom ROMs since MIUI has been quite irritating recently, and have found a couple that seem pretty nice. I have the Redmi 9S Global.
I saw Pixel Experience and Evolution X. Both similar to pixel, and I had a Mi A2 previously so I'm pretty familiar with the UI and features, and I liked it a lot. I was wondering, what are the difference between them, which one is better, and if you have any better options, let me know
I was also wondering, let's say, I want to sell my phone, how do I get it back to its stock MIUI, unrooted and locked bootloader so that it is just like new?
Any help and/or suggestions are appreciated
