Noob here. I have an old Verizon Razr Maxx, XT912. I am having trouble flashing Lineage 14 to it.
I have rooted and installed SafeStrap v3.75
Downloaded the lastest Lineage file, lineage-14.1-20180526-nightly-spyder-signed.zip
Downloaded GApps 7.1 pico
Boot into recovery and select a new ROM slot (1)
After it is built, i attempt to install ROM but get an error 6 as flashing begins
Can someone help me with this? I don't know what I am doing wrong. I would love to use this old phone for WiFi internet but i want the latest OS.
Thanks for any suggestions!

Read the inductions in the related Rom thread, it's all described there:
Copy the rom zip and the gapps to your SD card, boot into safestrap recovery and create a rom slot.
When the slot ready select "install" in the safestrap main menu and choose the rom zip file. Just confirm and it will be flashed.
If you don't know how to use Safestrap, I suggest you to have a look at Hashcode's blog. You'll find it by Google (how to safestrap).
P.s: try any rom you want. 4.3 is almost stable! In my experience a lot of "bugs" are user related.
I'm running Slim Rom (with JBX-Kernel) without bigger problems - it's very smooth.
The only thing is that you won't have HD video recording on Kexec Roms (but this is already 'in development...)

When you create the new slot in Safestrap, go to the "wipe" menu and select "factory reset". Then flash CM or LS, then flash your Google apps package, then go back to the "wipe" menu, clear cache, clear dalvik, reboot. Should boot fine. All of the Roms you've mentioned are thoroughly tested, as long as you download a Rom developed for your device.
If you're not sure about any of this, do what dtrail1 suggested, and educate yourself. First learn how to use Safestrap, and then follow the instructions on flashing whatever Rom you like. The Rom's thread should have all of the details.

Hi,
I've been trying to install CM 11 based on Kitkat 4.4.2 on my Xperia P. The following are the details / steps followed:
- The bootloader is unlocked
- The phone is rooted
- CWM 6.0.1.2 is installed ( I think this is the latest available for Xperia P)
1) Downloaded CM11-RC1 from the links in this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2626639
2) Modified 'updater-script' to get rid of Error 7
3) Extracted 'boot.img' and flashed it using FlashTool in fastboot mode.
After reboot, the phone stops at Sony logo and vibrates once.
4) Pressed the Power button to load CWM Recovery
5) Wiped Data, Cache/Partition, Dalvik Cache
6) Tried to install CM11-RC1 zip file using CWM
Now I get the message "Installation aborted", as soon as the installation begins, without any error code being displayed
I can't seem to get past this step, and don't know where I'm going wrong.
Can anyone please help me out?
Are you sure that your phone is unlocked bootloader ? Did you unlocked yourself ? And you should not change anything in update script because i had flash this rom without problem ...

Yes. The bootloader is unlocked. I did it myself following the instructions on the Sony website.
The installation shows an error 7 if I don't modify the updater script.

Could it be a version issue? Which one did you flash? I did RC1
Hey I had exactly the same problem. What I did was this:
I used Sony Mobile EMMA to re-install latest stock firmware.
After that I rooted it and Installed CWM 1.0 Nypon, I believe this is CWM somewhere in V6.xxxx (other versions wouldn't work for me..)
I also edited the updater script because it wouldn't pass the assert section, so I deleted this.
After that Recompiled it, (Zip format ofcourse) and copied it to SD card.
Next, I flashed boot.img and rebooted the phone after that. Then access CWM.
Now what I did was userdata/factory reset after that I deleted cache, and last but not least dalvik cache.
After that I flashed the recompiled ROM file and then It passed the status 7 error.
When that was finished I flashed gapps
This was what I did, becuz' I had exactly the same problem. I don't know if this works for you but you might give it a try.
(Sorry for bad Englisch)
(Make sure that your bootloader is unlocked! (To verify, I did try to unlock it again. Then I got a message saying that it was allready unlocked)

I flashed RC1 also, I tried almost all nightly's and the RC1 lol but they all wouldn't work before I used this sort of 'method'
Yesterday RC1 workied succesfully for me, today I updated to nightly 25 and everything works fine. Note that once you get passed the installation of RC1, that you can only access the CWM recovery with holding the power button, when your phone vibrates when you see the sony logo.. The CW11 comes with CMW touchable. Goodluck
And did it work?

Auful way way to "fix" things.
You can "fix" galaxy ROM to be installed on your phone and brick it permanently, it's already been done.
If you have flashed galaxy kernel you probably won't be able to boot but still able to recover.
Tha asserts are there for a reason.

Sp they released a ROM that cannot be flushed, is that what you say? And no one else reporting it?
Somehow I find it difficult to believe.
If you have followed the instructions I'm sure there would be no problem, or the instructions are incomplete, or there is some issue, either way it's up to the developer to fix it.
Avoid "fixing" errors in this manner or one day you may regret it dearly.

I have followed the instructions in a good way and this was the problem i have lived. Some of my friends lived this problem in a Turkish Forum and i recommended this way, they did it and flash the rom. I will give the link here; http://forum.donanimhaber.com/m_58138440/mpage_242/f_//tm.htm#87204228
My nick is ENG_civ on that forum. Everything is right about the rom but something goes in a wrong way, so this way makes the compiler not asking "is this right rom?", that's all. İn my opinion, if you are sure of the rom, there is no risk.
And i am new in this forum, and i couldn't write at development part, and this is the first time i am writing to a foreign language forum. So i couldn't reported them, and these rom's are not the final, so there could be faults on them i think.

Hi all, I went to clean install CM 11 and something happened and it won't boot. I can get into AP fastboot and into recover (triage Android) were it lets me install update from ext sources. Problem is my battery is now low and Matt's utility won't work. I ordered a black hat adapter but it won't be here until Monday.
I tried updating from ext-sd but with every rom I get:
Install /sdcard
Finding update package
Opening update package
Verifying update package
Installation aborted
SInce I can get into recovery, can't I flash a rom to the phone?

Hey guys,
I have a vzw galaxy s4 on 4.4.2 kitkat (stock and rooted) and the thing is i installed safestrap and after installing safestrap i tried to install the cm12 5.0.1 rom on my s4. The install completed successfully although it said that it could not mount /system, /systemorig, /internal storage. I installed this on rom slot 1 to try it out and when i tried booting from it all i got was a black screen. I did a little further investigating and i discovered that safestrap would not even do a simple factory reset because it could not mount /system or /internalstorage. I have no micro sd card installed and when i tried manually mounting /system it would not let me check it. ANY HELP IS APPRICIATED THANKS!!

Unless you have a GPE S4 or mdk bootloader, you won't be able to flash any aosp/cm/aokp roms. If you are using safestrap 3.72, you can only flash to the stock slot. I would recommend flashing the no wipe nc5 tar file through odin to restore your phone. I would recommend echoe rom or hyperdrive next time

Here is the exact problem you and I were trying to get to the bottom of with 3.75 A03. I've only had it happen twice in the last couple weeks while flashing tons of different ROMs so it's not that big of a deal. Just pointing out. Also, I've not found anyway to fix it except to Odin back to a stock ROM, reroot and then reinstall SS.

Yeah the problem was I flashed a non-touchwiz based ROM which screwed everything up. So after installing the stock NC5 ROM I rooted it and installed ss. I'm currently running the hyperdrive ROM I installed using SS and there are no problems so far!

Ok glad to help!
1. Put your phone in download mode
2. Open Odin
3. Flash this file in Odin:
https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=23329332407590051
4. Once flashed root your phone using towelroot.com and click the symbol to download (make sure unknown sources is on)
5. After you achieve root download super su from google play.
6. Open super su and disable Knox
7. Download safestrap from here: https://goo.im/devs/Hashcode/jflteatt/safestrap/ (Make sure to download 3.72 jflte)
8. Download terminal emulator
9. Open terminal and type "su" without quotes and then type "setenforce 0" without quotes
9. Open safestrap and grant root access and install recovery
10. Download the hyperdrive ROM from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2301724 and download nc5 modules from here: https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=23486521113837640
11. Once downloaded reboot and when you get to the safestrap screen touch "
"recovery"
12. Once in recovery make sure stock slot is selected in "boot options"
13. Factory data wipe
14. Install hyperdrive ROM
15. Flash the jfltevzw-nc5-modules file
16. Reboot and enjoy

Oh another thing I forgot is that once you download towelroot.apk from the website you need to open the app and click "make it ra1n" and you should have root. Once you reboot into the hyperdrive it doesn't come with root so here are the steps:
1. Uninstall super su that comes with the ROM
2. If it is a system app (super su) then install no bloat free from google play and then uninstall super su
3. Install towelroot again
5. Open the app and click "make it ra1n"
6. Open super su after that and it should update its binary
7. Your FINALLY all set

Yeah the problem was I flashed a non-touchwiz based ROM which screwed everything up. So after installing the stock NC5 ROM I rooted it and installed ss. I'm currently running the hyperdrive ROM I installed using SS and there are no problems so far!

Hello guys.
Could you please explain why should I install ROM in wiped stock slot? And not in the free space of SD-card? I thought that Safestrap was invented to flash and run different ROMs safely from the SD-card (virtual img slot) or free space of internal memory (real slot). Anyway, that was so with my moto razr. It seems I just misunderstood something.
I have got an update so I downloaded it but when I ask it to install it says "unable to reboot into recovery" !!
Which Version of OS I using CM 14.1 previous Build or CM 13 ?

Cm14.1 is dead what you want is to check out GZR ROMs on google plus.

You should have read the rom thread instead of creating a new thread for this. Solution is there: boot to recovery manually, search for the zip file and flash.

If you are using cm 13 you need to clean flash it...to save your data backup it first using titanium backup.
