Hello there everybody
Google lens has been released with the launch of the pixel 2 devices ,and a couple of months later it should up in there google assistant. Unfortunately, the nexus 6p users could celebrate this new feature with the pixel users without much effort of rooting or other methods. Last march, the lens made it to all devices with the nexus 6p but only in google photos. With the wider release that started this month, the nexus 6p/5x now has it in the google assistant without any effort of rooting.
Here is most of the info you will need about the google lens
Lens was announced at Google I/O 2017, and began rolling out to Photos a few weeks ago. If you're not aware, Lens is a machine-learning powered spiritual successor to Google Goggles, as it can identify objects and landmarks in photos. Google said it would eventually arrive in Assistant, and now it looks like the time has come.
Some users are seeing a new Lens button in Google Assistant, and tapping on it opens the camera. From there, you just tap on the object you want to search, and Assistant will try to figure out what it is. It's pretty much the same as Lens in Google Photos, except you don't have to take the picture before-hand.
It can also identify products from its shape or from the barcode, select text from real time, save photos to keep or just remember the picture by simply asking it to do so. It can also identify restaurants using your camera and location to give you information, and it can even identify landmarks.

Hi,
I wrote an app the scans your moles in real time using augmented reality technology. On a decent android device it can get process at about 5 frames per second. It works really well, using frames given to me by the PreviewCallback method from the camera.
When i take the picture on the camera, i get out of memory exceptions. Now i clean up all bitmaps i use using the .Recycle but unless I call System.gc();
before i take the photo, i get the exceptions. Secondly this error is deep inside the Google android stack, and actually results in the Camera being unavailable to any other app, even if i stopped my app from running completely.
I find i strange that the google API would allow my code (Perhaps not great code) to physically disable hardware on the device.
Any suggestions other than keep calling System.gc()?
The app can be found on the android store called "Doctor Mole"
I didn't find = (
Hi guys. Sorry if this thread already exists somewhere, but forum search only found he Google Now on ice cream sandwich thread. So, and to everyone who has now/new voice search on their device, what are your thoughts?
I personally wish that the voice/info cards activated more often;sometimes it just showed me regular Google search, and but with a very thin, rectangular box with the answer (see attachment). Recognition is quite good. The voice is more realistic than siri, and and response time is better. The inability to launch apps, make calendar appointments, and and set alarms on a different day are the only real annoyances. Knowledge graph is simply amazing. So that's my opinion. Looking forward to hearing your thoughts!
I was also a bit disappointed when i saw you couldn't launch apps and create events in calendar but i think Google Now is FAR FAR AWAY from being in final form this is just a testing release so they can collect information on how and when we use this app so it can become bigger.
I bet Google will release another minor update (4.1.2 maybe ?) with the new Nexuses that will have better Google Now included.
Come on guys, and in was hoping we could get a good discussion going here!
I've noticed its also good at responding to incomplete queries.
Hi everyone,
I need an application with which I can store maps with different zoom levels. I remember the application "Istanbul Map" let me do this and I could download Google (or other sources') maps from the zoom level I was in up to the maximum zoom level of my preference. Therefore, assuming that I had downloaded the map, when zoomed out I could only see street names and when zoomed in I could see the shops and their names or any other details corresponding to that zoom level, in case I had set the maximum zoom level to 17, 18 or 19.
However it's been two years that I haven't used that application and now that I downloaded "Istanbul Map" from Google Play I noticed that it doesn't offer the same features as before and it seems that it is specifically for Istanbul. Besides, I need to buy the application in order to use it while the previous versions were free.
Now that I am going on a trip and while on way I might need to zoom in up to the 18th zoom level to see the names of stores or other details. So I need an application that provides me the same feature as the old "Istanbul Map" letting me download Google maps for different zoom levels.
The built-in Google maps application only allows to download a map with a fixed zoom level and it is useless for me.
So, could you please suggest me an application covering my needs?
Thanks in advance
Anyone?
Hi there,
I've been using a Wear for the past few months, and got quite disappointed by the lack of really useful features. Ok, notification mirroring is kinda cool, but at the end of the day it's not a real game changer.
I tried creating something more useful for the Wear. When you get a phone call, the application will display all the latest interaction you had with the caller: your emails, shared events, notes, documents... (from Dropbox, Gdrive, LinkedIn, etc)
This is especially useful on business occasions. If you have lots of calls from people you barely remember (as I do), this can prove invaluable: you get an instant refresh on the person while chitchatting. And when you get to the real matter, you remember the invoice he sent or the event where you met him (or her ? :angel last year.
The app is on the Play Store -- search for "Anyfetch Companion" or visit play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.anyfetch.companion
Anyway, i'd really like to get your heavy-wear-user feedback. What do you think? Is it useful? Sadly, I'm no designer, so Lollipop design ifs far from perfect -- idem, feedbacks welcomed.
Anyone who uses a China Mainland rom of Emui Huawei phone with google apps should at this point be used to glitches, location history unusable, google now screen doesnt refresh, google backup disabled in favour of emui cloud, broken safety net in Betas, spotty Google pay integration... The list goes on.
But the most annoying problem imo is the inability to use Google assistant in voice match. Thanks to some mysterious problem most likely related to huaweis voice assistant (hivoice, yoyo, emy are basically all the same thing). Google assistant voice match is disabled and greyed out for Chinese mainland emui roms. I can say this affect all phones because I have personally tested 5 (mate s, mate 9 pro, p10 plus, P20 pro, mate 20 pro) running emui 4 to emui 9.
No conventional debugging method on Google's forums, from uninstalling to factory reset (short of replacing emui with a new custom rom, I tried that too) can fix this issue.
This issue seemed to have not gained as much attention as it needs as people seems to frequently mistake this for other, easily fixable issues and post their greviences under those posts, and are promptly directed to common, not useful debug steps.
This is a very detrimental problem for an otherwise relatively enjoyable hardware experience, and despite the amount of people experiencing this issue (people post about this a lot in Google's product forums but rarely gets a proper response). There has been no real solution or explanation.
Hi,
I have already posted it in another post. I noticed on my Honor View 10 that there is a connection between the Private Space and the Google Assistant. Whenever I have used the private space and then switched back to the normal account, the Assistant will then click out. It was also reproducible on my phone, but I can not say how it is related. Since the soft and hardware of the Huawei and Honor phones are similar, I thought it helps here. I have now deleted the private space and restarted the phone. After I have not used private space after the last reboot, the assistant works since yesterday without problems.
Regards Ralf.

On chinese roms (model AL00 and Al10 huawei) google assistant voice activition is broken in general. Third party apps do not play well with private space, as it is essentially like a sandbox environment.

Huawei and honor are the same thing, hardware and software. However there is a massive difference in terms of software between mainland China and outside huawei/honor software, including lack of launcher changing, hivoice which replaces Google assistant, lack of location sharing capability as huawei does not use Google location services in China software, as well as more bloatware and less privacy. The screen time management on China roms also activates a Chinese vpn that essentially blocks everything that is also blocked in China, fb, Google the whole shabam.
