Huawe mate 10 pro battery drain on every FREAKING BROWSER - Huawei Mate 10 Questions & Answers

Hey guys ive noticed something very peculiar. I noticed on another thread a user noted that his mate 10 drained really fast on chrome. his screenshot revealed about 10mah per minute cpu of chrome. The problem is my mate 10 pro drains almost twice as fast. I get 18-20 mah battery drained per minute and i have tried multiple browsers from chrome, to chrome beta, to firefox focus, to samsung to dolphin and every browser drains at the exact same rate. i dont know what is going on. Any solutions?

I agree with you 100%.
Look at my barely touched Chrome and the drain..
This is on a Mate 10 Pro BLA-A09 (USA) rebranded from the European BLA-L29 (C432).

I'd like to install Chrome Beta to see if it's better but Chrome remains installed too. And there is no way to turn Chrome off completely... Or is there? So I can just try out Chrome beta.

Looking at ur screenshot 315/22 is roughly 14.8mah per min which still a decent amount better than mine. Currently for me google chrome as used 240mah and cpu usage time is only 13mins and 40 seconds which is roughly 18.5 mah per min. My mums p9 chrome usage is about 7.8 per minute im really confused at this huge disparity

The BLA-L29 (dual SIM) and the BLA-L09 (single SIM) are the international versions of the Mate 10 Pro.

i have deactivated chrome. always the first thing i do on android smartphones. i'm using internet from Samsung, which consumes 11.5mAh/min. Installed an adblocker for it. Safes data and battery. I'm also using the night mode of samsungs browser which reduces the power consumption of oled screens drastically.

yes, just disable it, won't consume any battery anymore. Even links from google now feed open now in samsungs night mode instead of using chromes web view.

[Q] Love the note but its crawling!!!

Hey guys, havent really ever posted much but here goes:
I just bought the note, and switched to at&t just for the phone, i absolutely love the idea of having a small tablet that fits in your pocket that also makes your calls.
but.....
I'm comming from sprint's galaxy s2 (epic 4g touch). That phone was superfast. I feel like this phone absolutely crawls in comparison, its laggy and jumpy and things just take so long to open up... switching between things isnt as instantaneuos as before.. Another surefire way i know that something is definitely worse is that before on my gs2 i was able to run adownloader, downloading as many as 4 torrents at a time without the phone slowing down to terribly and i was even able to watch avi videos normally while downloading. now, the phone comes to a complete stop.
Now, to be fair, i did root my sg2 a few months ago and installed a custom rom but i never overclocked it, but maybe thats why that phone was faster. could it be that when devs start making custom roms for this one it will "speed up"?
Because im sorry this phone is so laggy now.....
Make sure you don't have energy saver turned on that could be causing this

This helped a lot. Tyvm.
I noticed that every once in a while I have to do a "clear memory" in the task manager to speed up the Note. Not sure what's going on, maybe a memory leak. It won't be long until we have ICS and I'm sure that will speed it up quite a bit.

You mean system power saving option? Or is there another option called energy saver? Just checking you never know.
There seem to be HUGE performance differences between the LTE notes. I got lucky and have a super fast one.
Everything, and I mean everything, is hardcore fast and super smooth. This note is faster than the H+ galaxy nexus and much faster than the SGS2 Skyrocket side-by-side. Quadrant (new) scores around 2900-3200 and I'm totally stock with no modifications. Apps open instantly, there is no waiting, no stuttering and if you search for my posts, you'll see my screenshots of over 5 hours of screen on time with over 21 hours of unplugged time in an LTE zone (Atlanta).
My point being: if your Note isn't working as I have just described, be aware that there are notes out there that do, mine being one of them. Go exchange it. When you get one that performs as it should, this is the fastest and best performing phone on the market currently. I've tested it side-by-side with the best.

And yes, when roms start coming in, this phone will scream even more. Everyone *****ing about it not having an exynos. Here's a nugget of info: you can overclock the hell out of snapdragon, much more than exynos. Clock-for-clock exynos is faster but when devs jump in, snapdragon will be faster in the long run due to overclockability. You watch, this processor will break 2ghz and still have great battery life once smart processor scaling gets implemented into ROMs.
Hell, Da_G was near 2ghz (1.93) before the phone was officially publicly released. In time, these clocks will become stable.

Stock benchmark...
was like 2500 on quadrant but then I rooted and used the overclock kernel and I'm at 3400...I don't know how people get 2900-3200 stock highly questionable. My friend got one the same day I did and his stock is at the exact same score about 2500.

I pretty much agree with this guy. My note performs absolutely flawlessly. I have root, but have not installed overclocked kernel or overclocking apps. Even with a live wallpaper running, my device seems to fly by. @OP Possibly a resource hogging app?

Get on YouTube. Go look up the phonedog ATT Galaxy Note review. In it, the quadrant benchmark score is 1700ish, he's using totally stock software with static wallpaper. Yours, at 2500 was 800 over his. Quadrant fluctuations? Random variables? Different note performance? My claim of 2900-3200 shouldn't be "questionable", as if your incinuating I'm lying, when there is already 800 points difference between a huge YouTube reviewer and yours.
I hate benchmarks. Don't care what they say as I find it rarely relates to real-performance. Already have quadrant uninstalled from my note. Yet people use it and live by it, so when discussing performance, I have no choice but to use it for comparison. My note absolutely screams and if yours doesn't, something, somewhere, is wrong.

I wouldn't hold your breath. Besides, using golauncher works 100% on this 2.3 version, which for the most part is as stable as they get. I'm not convinced ICS has much to offer outside of a slick GUI. And that's GL does anyway

Just out of curiosity, what color is your Note?
My GF has the white one, and I have the carbon blue one. Just like you, hers keeps hitting quadrant scores of 2800 +, reaching up to ~ 3100. Mine has topped at 2800, hitting usually ~ 2500.
Needless to say, quadrant isn't very consistent, and hers sometimes hits around 2300, but mine has never gone over 2800.
I know that benchmark scores are in no way a reliable way of measuring a device's performance, but after paying a hefty price for the phone, and seeing that one next to mine which was also purchased at the exact same time and has the exact same specs is getting a consistent "better performance", makes me wonder if I should ask for an exchange.
Any feedback would be appreciated.
Edit ---
Forgot to mention, the overall phone performance seems to be smoother on her Note. Mine has some lag, mostly on the home screen, whereas hers barely lags at all.
I have the Black one, and it is laggy as hell. I mean horrible. Like I keep debating taking it back.
Anyway, my quadrant is always around 2500.

OK. can we get a poll here, i guess i should start a new thread for this, but mine is black and laggy as hell to. can people post their colors? Best buy said that they dont exchange for color though.. not sure what to do..
Before root and rom/kernal, Note was laggy at times, tried adw (much better) and go launcher (better) then I rooted and rom'ed and I got 3842 running the oc Kernal, its flying! I will say stock though the skyrocket I had was faster, no lag at all

Overall speed

Would you say that the Moto Z is "fast" in day-to-day use? A higher rating indicates that you think the Moto Z exhibits fantastic performance. Like, is it as fast as your tears when you watch The Titanic?
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!

fastest phone I've ever owned.
FAst in general terms, but enabling the "resising screen" option slow downs a lot the GUI.
not the best
Not the fastest phone I ever seen
But fast enough for many if not all things. Totally foobar to have every 6 to 12 month a new Phone.
I'm happy with the Moto Z in all manner.
I've compared benchmarks and noticed that my Moto Z (Brazilian Edition) has a lower hardware (CPU) than others. Brazilian version of moto z is "cropped" compared to moto z usa, for example. I'm so sad. I don't feel it is fast as expected and my biggest frustation is the smothless. See my benchmark results:
Does anyone know how to make this moto z faster and smooth?

Our Z has 1.8giga max speed compared to the US droid that sports default and higher (2.2 giga I presume) max. It is because of the battery. But if you put on some custom kernel you can gain those max clock values. Just tell me why do you need this. Mine blazing fast. Data, response, multitasking... Not a single lag since the day one. SOT is a bit decent though. Can get around 5 hrs of usage, not playing games. And that is just fine when bearing in mind the battery being of 2600 mah. Do not take these syntetic benchmark so closely. Or you'd be sleeping well enough when having better score? I came from my beloved Nexus 5x and this phone outperforms it in some ways. Getting this phone for 240 usd on a special one-off event made me jump into the lake and enjoy the show.
I'm not caring about benchmark tests at all. Sometimes I got lagging and heating up with some regular use, not gaming. I'm using it with INCIPIO battery mod trying to reach end of day without plug it to an outlet. Shoud I take it to a custom rom?
my devices has some real problems with gps apps. 3-4hours drive it will just make all apps stuck. i expected more from this phone...
if we're talking benchmarks im sure there are plenty of phones that can surpass it HOWEVER if we are talking overall speed and responsiveness it surpasses all the recent phones i owned
(LG V20,NOKIA 8,PIXEL,HTC 10,HTC U ULTRA,Iphone 8 plus,iphone 7 plus,lg g6,galaxy s8,huawei p10,note FE and many more)
This is ok,right?

After update to MIUI 9 7.8.28, i got 14-15 hrs SOT with lots modification. You can search on XDA developers forum (Extreme Battery Life thread). You can try some of my way :
1. Gain root acces (unlock bootloader, mi unlock, flash TWRP, etc)
2. Flash 69TweakOne.zip dan 69TweakTwo.zip in TWRP (you can find in XDAdevelopers)
3. Delete chinese apps, and some bloatware you don't use
4. Install L Speed and Restore Blueblood v.2.2 fixed settings (you can find in XDAdevelopers)
5. Flash Govtuner in TWRP and install Terminal Emulator (you can find in XDAdevelopers)
6. Install Xposed Installer, flash Xposed framework according to your chipset in TWRP, install Greenify, and Amplify (you can find in XDAdevelopers).
I'm quite satisfied for now, but XDA developers ask me to install Powernap and Appopsxposed for maximum SOT, maybe later !
I don't see SOT screenshot, only 12h 47 min USAGE time. Do you know what is SOT?

Auto brightness is issue on pie. But rebooting not on arrow.
I never used auto brightness, so don't know, but I've tried basically all of them and no rebooting or crashing problems, they are pretty stable - but really bad on battery.

Is your standby drain as good as on mm or nougat?
Or is it as bad as oreo?
Anything else one should be aware of?

Standby drain is average as of 5% drian in 7-8hrs. And nothing much to aware of. Overall it's amezing comparison to mm or nougat or oreo. In terms of backup it will obviously improve in next update. Still it gives as an average of 4plus hr of SoT
Does any pie rom have support for exfat or f2fs sdcard?

Well I did yesterday I found only one really annoying bug: sim detection error randomly appear during reboot - other reboot is not a fix, it found my sim after rebooting without it, insert it after the rom started and try switch on and off airplane mode.
But everything else is forking fine, charging speed is great with stock kernel so no need of a third party one.

Thanks man.
I mostly use my device over bluetooth paired with speaker system in my pocket so idle drain is crucial right now.

The idle power usage is excellent, I would say the best, but my device is 2 years old can't really say about the sot, it feels a bit of power hungry to me. Maybe because of the animations.
Device: Redmi Note 3 3gb Kenzo.
HavocOS 29/11/28 build is great, 5hrs SOT, no crucial bugs here. For sure usable as daily driver.

i dont think there is an issue with that. The slider moves in real time, it's different from oreo, it works on latest havoc.
Im using Havoc OS latest build since the release day as main rom and it's doing really good, battery-wise too, gaming wise aswell, better than most oreo roms.
Best roms for me are Liquid Remix and Havoc. Both has almost same features, but brightness on Havoc is more precise. Maybe on new update Liquid adjust it. Battery is better than oreo on both, but I did some changes on stock kernel. I set up big cluster to Max freq = 1305 and Min freq = 883. Little cluster to Max freq = 1401 and Min freq = 691, changed governor to ondemand and Max gpu freq to 550. I've disabled ZRAM too. Everything works very nice, no lags, no random reboots and 7-8h of SOT.

bad ram management ?

i do think the stock kernel is bad, when i check with rootify it says ~40% of ram usage without doing anything.
tho i tweaked it with smartpack kernel manager.
is light better for gaming or aggressive in Low Memory Killer settings?
btw, i have the 6gb ram version of mi note 10 lite.

the most bad thing is the 60hz that looks more like a 50hz, i feel like it's not smooth tho im doing constant 60fps
when a custom kernel will release for this phone i'll jump on this occasion, better if it is hydra kernel for those 90hz
tho we need the kernel sources
or maybe we can use prebuilt kernel

Screen says it all.
it would be better if it was at 10-20%.

You can't play 90 fps after release kernal source because our screnn hardware only support maxium fps is 67 or 65

the current stock kernel has a bad ram management and is locked at 60fps, so it makes games less smooth.
and idk when its gonna be released, we need to do something so that xiaomi releases it

yeah most of the phone have only 60hz and so for gamers that plays on computer at 120-360hz they'll have this ''laggy'' sensation that makes it not smooth.
as i play in 75hz on my computer there's still a difference so for gaming it's better at 75-90hz and you'll get better aim for example in cod mobile

yeah so it's ''bad''
cause nowaday phones have 120hz
but the most big problem is ram management,
40% of ram without doing anything.
i'm the type of people that hate getting high ram usage without doing anything.
