After doing this I went to boot into recovery but it wont turn on. I wonder if tearing it apart and doing a battery pull will do anything or is it a paperweight now?
Those RKxx generic recoveries do not really work generic on all Rockchip devices. I got the same issues with a RK3066 based Tablet.
its not really bricked. Just switch back to regular recovery by flashing a complete ROM image and the device should start again.
It's working again. After sitting for a day it starts. I was trying to put recovery on there so I could install play. It belongs to a friends little kid so that's why I'm messing with this turd.
Can't blame him for giving a little kid a black Friday special. You don't give a little kid a Nexus 7 abuse.

Hi All,
It happens so that I have been able to Root my HOX+ without installing the custom Bootloader. Now that is said and done I am looking forward to finding some way to backup my stock HOX+ bootloader before flashing a Custom Recovery. Since Android has Linux deep within it so in that case the bootloader image must be hidden some where deep within the Linux file system. So please guid me on this one ..
Thanks

After spending some time on this one, I finally am being able to backup my stock recovery . I am just penning down the steps incase some one intereste....
For Htc one X+ we first need to find the recovery partition . that can be achieved by running the following command from any terminal emulator
with busybox installed.
cat /proc/emmc
which will give an output some like this
mmcblk0p5: 00fffe00 00000200 "recovery"
This is the recovery partition block ...
the next step will be to backup the recovery partition in an img format.
1. We need to have root permission in order to read through the /dev/block/ directory. So
Type :
su dd if=/dev/block/mmcblk0p5 of=/sdcard/recovery.img
(su grants you admin access and dd is a common command to backup partitions in Linux)
That's it the recovery partition is backed up on your sdcard..
Are you on HBOOT 1.72?

Some users reported it's working (see also M4 Aqua General threads)

my model number e2353. it's ok to try it?
This guide will not install recovery and not work with new firmware updates. But i appreciate work of the developer
All for locked bootloader.
Need ADB environment.(install Android SDK, add a PATH for adb.exe, etc.)
Extract rootkitXperia_E2xxx_26.1.x.x.x.zip and run install.bat.
for M4 Aqua Dual E2363 26.1.B.1.85
rootkitXperia_E2363_26.1.B.1.85
https://www.dropbox.com/s/8icz6059kt3ztws/rootkitXperia_E2363_26.1.B.1.85.zip?dl=0
for M4 Aqua Dual E2303 26.1.A.1.128
rootkitXperia_E2303_26.1.A.1.128
https://www.dropbox.com/s/9pys6qgxtc1hixs/rootkitXperia_E2303_26.1.A.1.128.zip?dl=0
for other M4 Aqua(but for the firmware 26.1.A.1.128/26.1.B.1.85)
Those rootkit may work by edited install.bat.
Delete some lines in install.bat as below.
@for /f %%x in ('adb shell getprop ro.build.product') do @set DEVICENAME=%%x
@if %DEVICENAME% neq E2xxx goto notsupport
@for /f %%x in ('adb shell getprop ro.build.id') do @set BUILDID=%%x
@if %BUILDID% neq 26.1.x.x.x goto notsupport

But you can install an older firmware, root, create a pre-rooted firmware from the latest firmware and install that on top of the rooted one. This however requires zxdualrecovery installed. This is how it is done for the z2 tablet: http://forum.xda-developers.com/xpe...lipopprerooted231a128z2-tabletsgp511-t3100821
It need a recovery flashable zip, and I maked it , but in the zip file I removed xzdualrecovery because our device is not supported. The problem is or in the recovery or in the updater-script
Hey root tool kit not working for 26.1.b.2.147!!!!! Plzz help........thanks......

If you had read the last couple of pages on the link you posted you would have know that is a known problem.
Read them. I think someone figured a workaround.

Classic problem if you update over OTA, go in the twrp and open the terminal :
first that : ' dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/fota '
second : ' dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/misc '
now just reboot system

Your board certainly isn't dead. But if you don't need it, send your board then to @Quarx to have one, because his board burned with white smoke .
