My previous phone was Walkman W8 and i used to root the phone and install custom rom and stuff and i was using the custom romed phone for a long time..
Then i got Samusng Galaxy S2 GT-I9100G and stared custom roming and rooting stuff.. After losts of soft bricks and hardbricks i managed to install rootbox rom with codeworkxx custom kernel in it..
But when i booted the the phone then the phone didnt detect sim card i tried restoring to original OS it sill didnt work..
Then i came across efs problems in xdaforums.. So i tried to use efs pro v1.7.14, backed up my efs and tries to restore them.. It didnt work then i downloaded a efs.img online for my phone and tried to restore my efs with that.. I didnt work also..
I tried to restore my backup and efs pro showed me this error...

I appreciate any kind of advice.. I am a semi-noob...Now i am using my old SE Walkman W8 till this gets fixed...
Thank You
take it to warranty
I have the same issue and i made lot and lot of reasearch about the EFS folder, IMEI recovery, etc etc, and i concluded that if you still have warranty return the phone to stock and take it to warranty (mine is with samsung warranty since yesterday).
I'll update you if they could fix it.
So I guess there is no other way then..
Anyway thanks for the reply.
My flash count is 7 will they accept my warranty if I restore the phone to its original self and give them...
Is there Anyother Way using Odin to repair my phone..
Badly want my s2 back
OK. I looked here and there and got my efs folder back...
But still my Sim dosent work and also have a problem with baseband version, my phone says base-band version unknown..
You need to flash another modem, but before that enable Flight mode.
Well if you still want to put your phone in Samsung for warranty flash an ICS ROM and then use Chainsfire Triangle Away application to reset your Flash count.
That way you wont have problems with Samsung.
You have the application in Market or in a post in this forum, market its 1.75 € if you get it from the forum its free.
Guys thanks for the replies...
:fingers-crossed:
But some how i got my S2 to detect my SIM card by flashing stock modem..:good:
The modem that worked for me was DZKL3 stock modem... now my unknown baseband is solved.. And my phone detects the simcard but still not perfect have lots of bugs..But even though my cell detects my sim card when i try to call or sms i get "Not registered on a Network" warning...
Now i am stuck up there....What to do from here

Is your IMEI 004999010640000 ? Whatever you do, don't post your IMEI (important) if it's different from this, a yes/no answer will do.

YES!
In that case you have the generic IMEI. Your original IMEI is gone. Sounds like your carrier blocks access to devices with non-unique IMEI's (lots of carriers around the world do this; some don't).
Restore your EFS backup if you have one (lots of threads on here detailing how to do this), if you don't have one it's either a service centre job (which you'll probably end up paying for), or you can contact a member on here called Odia by PM who might be able to recover your EFS/IMEI for you (for a small donation; much cheaper than paying Samsung/an authorised repairer to fix it).
Thanks Mate:highfive: this helped me a lot! Hope this solves my problem...:victory:
Sorry for posting this again...
I think i already know my imei number so is there anyway that i can restore my imei number through terminal, or using an external application....
If so can u guys help me... Thanks...
Without an EFS backup, no. Only Samsung/authorised repairer can fix it (Odia can sometimes as well with whatever form of magic he uses to recover them).
IMEI's are a unique device identifier, I.E your IMEI is unique to your phone. Changing IMEI's or transferring them to other devices is illegal in most jurisdictions throughout the world.
try this

I didn't say that. I mentioned it because whenever we get these threads on here, the conversation invariably turns to 'can I change my IMEI or transfer it to another phone', that's all.
You only have the two options. I'd recommend you contact Odia via PM & be patient.

Hi all,
hope someone can help me. Since this night I am no longer able to connect to my mobile provider. I tested the sim in a different phone and the sim works fine.
When I go to settings, and search for the providers, I get all german providers but when I try to connect, it says it is not possible.
Is there anything I can try? Or could it be that something in my device is broken?
I have JellyBam CM10 4.12 running, but it seems to be not Rom-related.
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks!
Check your IMEI in settings/about phone/status. If it begins with '0044' (do not post your actual IMEI or any portion thereof here !), there's your problem. If that's the case, restore your EFS backup (there are heaps of threads about same on here).
Also, there's always the possibility the phone has been IMEI blocked (assuming your IMEI is correct/OK). If your IMEI is correct/OK, call your carrier & confirm your IMEI is/isn't blocked.
If neither of those things are the issue, I'd do a clean install of stock in the first instance & see if the problem persists. If it does, it may well be a hardware issue. If going back to stock does fix the problem, it's obviously a rom issue; maybe try a completely clean install of the rom you were using & see how that goes.

I tried everything except calling the provider.
My IMEI and Baseband is still visible and ok.
If I search for networks, it finds the networks, but says "Unable to connect".
This happens also with stock ICS firmware as well as with the custom ROM.
Does it mean, that my hardware is broken?
Not necessarily. But call your carrier & ask if the phone is IMEI blocked. It could also be a case of something not setup correctly at their end so far as your account with them is concerned.
That's what's you need to do next.

Try restoring stock via odin
---------- Post added at 09:52 AM ---------- Previous post was at 09:47 AM ----------
Try restoring your efs folder manually , with a root file explorer, if you have your efs folder backed up on your external SD card copy it to the root directory of your phone
i have restored the EFS folder from my girlfriends phone (just to test, because i have only an img of my backup)
No chance, still no Baseband/IMEI...
Seems to be a hardware issue? Or should I try to get professional help (JTAG?)
Should not be using another phone EFS on your phone. Data are different in them.
Messed up with my G925F!!!
Hello , my phone suddenly was not able to make or receive any calls or joining 3G/4G network or SMS. In other words, I was out of service although my SIM had not problems to enter the PIN password and I could see signal bars.
After a little research I discovered that my IMEI and S/N number had been changed! Especially, the IMEI number became 350000000000006 (fake one) And I believe this is the reason my signal went off!
So , I just managed to download smart switch from samsung and choose "emergency software recovery and initialization -> device initialization" in an attempt to revert it to stock rom and settings (is this method unroot the phone too?)
But after this long downloading finished , the phone didn't boot , I only see the samsung galagy s6 edge logo stuck!!!!
So , I decided to root the phone again , following the guide here (link-->), zidroid.com/how-to-install-twrp-root-galaxy-s6-edge-on-android-5-1-1/
(in short words , I installed the twrp recovery with odin and I flashed 2 zip files required, from an usb-otg-flash drive, via the twrp recovery install button) and then the phone booted normaly , but the problem with the signal and wrong IMEI was still there!
I feel that I am on dead end , I don't know what to do , I am thinking about sending it to the location I bought it but I am afraid that the warranty is lost.
Please help me restore my phone back to normal
After repeating the whole procedure several times , now my phone does not recognize SIM card at all , as if it was never inserted , wtf?

So you mean that there isn't any way of backing up the IMEI number first before rooting or changing a rom/kernel/recovery to the phone in order not allowing this IMEI bricking happen again by means of restoring from its backup?
I googled a lot and some people suggest that they can backup EFS in some way. What is EFS exactly and how it is related to IMEI?
Also wouldn't be a good idea to find a way to backup my entire OS/firmware (not just IMEI/EFS) before doing anything , in case to save money and avoid the same bricking?
And yes , I have sent the phone to samsung service , it will cost me around 320 euros , because they discovered I changed kernel/rooted the device , and they will change motherboard.
I cannot help the phone without being rooted , I love rooting but I cannot understand why suddenly IMEI got bricked.....does it worth to take risk and root my phone again? But I want IMEI or entire OS backups first before doing that and I don't know how to achieve this without rooting first...
Please help me if you could.
You can backup your full os using twrp recovery
Also your IMEI
In SAMSUNG devices imei number stored in efs partition that's why people asking take efs backup before flashing any Rom

Me too! I have the exact same IEMI number! Mine stopped working after about a month. I tried to return to seller no response. I tried to send phone back they would not accept phone, so it is on it's way back to me. Once I get it back I will try what you did.
I have taken it to factory settings 3 times no luck. I will try your process once I get me phone back.
Thanks!

I did contact one of those fellows a reputable one that can change your IEMI. Well once he heard that crazy IEMI number, he said because it was changed once before to something like he doubted he could change it again and save my phone. To try he charges 100 US plus I have shipping there and back. Yikes.
So any advice you can give me I would truly appreciate.
Thanks!

:good::good::good::good::good::good::good::good:
Mine went down recently with the exact same IMEI and no SN. TWRP was failing to restore the efs partition damaging the files in the process. Long story short, I had to manually extract the efs files, copy them across and fiddle about with permissions but I'm working again.
That nugget rings true - always backup the efs before changing anything.
But for that reputable fellow to say that the IMEI had been changed before because of what it had become, and insinuating that the imei couldn't be changed more than once was complete twaddle. I wouldn't trust him near any of my phones.
On a lighter note I'm sure there's got to be a member on here would sort it for beer tokens
Happened to me, I thought it was faulty ROM and all but then I realized it was simply apn setting. Resetting it to default did the trick. It can be found in Settings > Mobile networks > Access Point Names

Since this thread is quite old and people keep answering , I want to end it like this:
Back then I didn't avoid to pay about 300 euros to replace its motherboard to a samsung shop. But I learned lately that the issue was due to an app called "USB OTG Helper" (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.shajul.usbotg&hl=en) which allows you to insert NTFS USB flash drives to your OTG phone but also enables a system partition , including EMS files to be visible.
And you can guess what happened next , I deleted this system partition which this app made it visible and yes , my IMEI was gone!!! After some months , I repeated the same delete thing , but previously I had backed up via TWRP the EFS and MODEM partitions. My phone lost IMEI again , as expected , but after restoring EFS and MODEM , the IMEI was back!!
To sum up , never delete files or partitions that look like "system" like bluetooth and imei folders when you are root AND always have a backup of all your rom via twrp or something else before changing/deleting/flashing anything related to your system.
The short history:
Playing with an "official" ROM I bricked my phone. I was able to recover it, everything works properly except the telephony, I can't make phone calls :crying:.
The full story:
The behaviour of my phone is different depending on which slot I put my SIM card.
If I put my SIM on the first slot, when the phone reboots it doesn't ask for the PIN and doesn't recognise the card. But if I switch to plane mode and I reboot the phone, the phone then asks for the PIN number. If I introduce an incorrect one, it recognises that it is incorrect ans ask for a new one (then it is reading the card to know that), but when I introduce the correct one, it does no connect whit my carrier (of course, before that I switch off the plane mode).
If I put my SIM on the second slot, it asks for the PIN number but similarly to the previous case, It doesn't connect with the carrier.
In both cases dialling *#06# on the phone, I can read the two IMEI and the MEID codes and they agree with the codes printed on the phone box.
Moreover, if I install an app (I tested with some of them) that reads the SIM card it can read the name of my carrier and all the contacts that are on my SIM.
Things that I tried:
0) I tried to use my SIM in another phone, and it works. I also tried to use another SIM in my phone, and I have the same problem.
1) I tried to install several ROM's:
- Jeff72ROM (v1.30 and v1.32) from: http://www.needrom.com/category/zte/serial-nubia/z11-mini/
- stock ROM from http://4pda.ru/forum/index.php?showtopic=776504&st=0#entry52586301
- And experimental port of CM14 (I can't remember where I found it)
- CUOCO92 from http://blog.grossoshop.net/nubia-z11-mini-rom-gs-by-cuoco92/
- An "official" ROM: NX529J_Z69_EN_NSXPK1JD00K132 from http://www.nubia.com/es/support.php?a=phone&pid=8 (this is the ROM that bricked my phone, I modified it in order to avoid the problem).
To install all these ROM I used TWPR from http://www.androidbrick.com/download/z11-mini-nx529j-twrp-root/
When I dial *#*#4636#*#* on the phone it says that the type of preferred net is WCDMA. It seems to me that these nets are not in use in Europe (I live in Spain). Itried to change that, but I couldn't. Then I applied the patch http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2394689 but it doesn't work. I also tried to modify the properties in "build.prop" without success. Now I think this is not the problem since all the ROM's have similar properties, in special CUOCO92 that is reported to work in Italy.
What I think it happened:
When I tried to flash the "official" ROM it failed because it tried to write too many files in the "system" partition (I hadn't this problem with any other ROM). Then I realised that my phone was bought in China and this ROM was for the international version, perhaps the international version has a different partition scheme).
What I did is to remove some very easy to install apps (i.e. google maps) in the ROM in order that the remaining apps fit in the partition, but then I made the mistake to activate the option in TWPR of making "rm -rf" instead of a "format". It seems to me that with this option the rm command followed some link to another partition and removed some files that shouldn't be removed, and those files are not in any ROM.
Does anybody think that this makes sense?
What can I do?
nice, super description. i am stuck with my nubia z11 mini, brought from china. installed 1.23, recently updated new 1.36 but there is no google play, other all working perfectly.

I have the NX529J and the option wasn't changed, it was still format. I don't think the problem is related to the partition.

@jbartolo
I did some progress with my phone.
I flash it with the chinese 1.23 rom(its the one in fastboot structure as i understand,a service rom) using Xiaomi's MiFlash tool.
Phone came up with null IMEI'S and MEID. Then i write missing IMEI'S & MEID ,with some tools from the site i mentioned you in my previous post.
So everything is in place now. IMEI'S & MEID.
Now when i dal *#06#* and *#*#4636#*#* i can see Imei's & Meid.
Also i can change the option from WCDMA preferred to other options and stick with them (*#*#4636#*#*) and i can see in phone settings and SIM menu all the options.
Both sim trays read my sim and ask for pin.
In SIM menu, i can search for avalaible carriers but the only problem now is that when i'm trying to connect to my sim carrier unfortunately phone can't register to my carrier.
I'm trying to figure out how to solve this issue.
You can try what i did and maybe you are more lucky than me and can fix your phone.
Hope to hear from you soon and maybe we can share some more ideas.

problem solved: Z11 mini working again
All,
the AndroidBrick method worked.
First I tried it with my own qcn backup but that didn'twork. I received a qcn (Chinese, 64 GB) from AndroidBrick and I followed the repair guide. My Nubia Z11 mini is working again.
The solution for our problem is that you need a qcn backup from a working phone because when you install the wrong rom (international version) the modemst-partions are corrupt.
I'll prepare a backup qcn from my phone (changed IMEI) and I can send it to you.
Send me a mail at [email protected].

Z11 mini NX529J problem
First of all:
>i bought an used NX529J
>first sim slot doesn't work at all, second slot recognize sim card
^-i don't know if it's software or hardware related
>no connect to carrier
>cannot unlock sim card with PIN
What i tried:
>flashed XenonHD Rom
>*#06#* : only MEID, but it is the same number, as the first IMEI number
>*#*#4636#*#* : first IMEI number
>tried all sim settings, but no connect to carrier
Has some an idea?

Hi All,
I wrongly restored the EFS partition from another Poco F1, overwriting the EFS partition for which I don't have the backup.
I know the IMEI numbers of the new phone, so I need only to change the IMEI numbers contained in the old EFS backup to use the right ones (overwritten by wrong backup).
How can I do this?
Thanks in advance,

Update: I found the way to restore original IMEIs, but I got "Out of service" state for the inserted SIM. I used both QPST and QFIL, and baseband seems to be OK but anyway radio is always turned off.
My scope is to restore original capabilities (rebuilding the original EFS?): I bought this phone few days ago, and I can prove it's not stolen sending purchase proof in PM (to a moderator).
Is it possible to fix this?

Hi All,
I wrongly restored the EFS partition from another Poco F1, overwriting the EFS partition for which I don't have the backup.
I know the IMEI numbers of the new phone, so I need only to change the IMEI numbers contained in the old EFS backup to use the right ones (overwritten by wrong backup).
How can I do this?
Thanks in advance,
BR

Unfortunately I can't help you with your request. But if the phone is functional, you could enable ADB and see if erasing modem partitions helps. (It probably won't, but you could give it a try)
Code:
fastboot erase modemst1
fastboot erase modemst2

Thanks for your reply.
I already tried, also with the code *#*#25327337#*#*, but it's still not working.
I also tried to use the QPST backup from the same model phone, that I've, and replacing the IMEI (to restore the original in the broken one) but I got "NO SIGNAL". It seems that the radio is not able to be turned on anymore.
Any other ideas?

There was a guide for your problem for my old phone. I don't know if it could help for poco. Maybe it could give some direction.

I already tried this way too and I got both IMEIs displayed in the OS, but the radio is still turned off.
Actually I found no way to turn the radio on, so I sent the phone to the service center (to be "repaired").
Thanks anyway for your time

Hi, I had the same problem with a motherboard I bought from Aliexpress, accidentally screwed with the EFS and now nothing works, tried flashing a QCN with my old IMEIs but that failed as well and I'm pretty much stuck where you are. I can't send my device back because I don't live where I bought it and I wanted to ask if you fixed it.
