FB messenger keeps disconnecting when phone idle - Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 / 5 Plus Questions & Answers

Hello, i have new Redmi 5 plus and i have issue. When phone is idle for like 20min, messenger automatically disconnects from internet and i'm not recieving any notifications. I looked into battery settings and messenger is set as exception from those battery saving stuff. I tried things like wiping cache or re-install. Nothing worked. Any ideas? Thank you

[update] Seriously why is this phone freezing on 3g/wifi? (NOT random reboot)

It's like one day it decided to crap out. I hadn't changed any settings or installed new apps, was on nottachtrix, and suddenly when the wifi or mobile data are on the phone hangs left and right. Oh and the battery won't charge up properly (hardly at all) when it's in this state; off the charger it runs down to zero in just a few hours. Turn off all connectivity & it works just fine. Wtf?
I've fully fastboot wiped, moved back to a good fruitcake, moved to a good blur 2.3.4 rom, and within 24 hours the glitches slowly return. The fact that wifi works leads me to think software issue not hardware, but I'm at a loss otherwise.

UPDATE: nvm fixed it.
Here's what I found: My stock email app (which was synced to my work email) had somehow gone haywire. Since I only run modified stock roms, and this was a stock app, the issue persisted through every full wipe / reflash I'd gone through.
Symptoms were as described above. "Motorola Services" was eating up ~25% of a given battery charge because it was constantly pinging to sync my contacts -- in the meantime, that process was also taking priority over every other task I tried to do (like view contacts, launch other apps, etc) causing frequent FC errors that would all resolve themselves if I pressed "Wait." If I disabled wifi and 3G, the runaway sync process would stop and my phone would act normally.
So I've deleted that email account; that leaves me with my Blur and Gmail accounts on the phone. Three days and no problems whatsoever; "Motorola Services" doesn't even show up on the list of apps draining the battery anymore.

[Q] Huge Data Usage over Wifi = Huge Battery drain

Alright, I am on stock Android ICS 4.0.3 Samsung.
Since the past 3 or 4 days I've noticed that my phone's battery dies overnight. I rarely ever install new apps, rarely even use anything other than chrome, facebook app, Google+ app, gmail, gtalk. thats it.
Been using these for the past year or so, no problem. But since the last 3 days I've noticed that my battery is draining really fast. If I switch off wifi, it drains at the normal rate. Normal rate = 3 days standby.
As soon as I switch on WiFi, the drain starts. 3G data services have been disabled, because I don't have a data plan. All data usage is only over WiFi. I've checked wifi data usage over the past 4 days and It says I have used over 1.8Gb. When infact I don't use this much data even on my home pc to do anything! I am a very passive user. I know I haven't streamed video/audio in the past 7 days. no Youtubing even.
I installed my data manager to see what app was eating all that data. It says "OS Services".
I have rebooted the phone several times. Uninstalled several apps, like Facebook etc.. Did you guys know Google+ cannot be uninstalled? But I really think its some push service that just keeps on pushing. Any advise?
I thought i'd let you guys know that i fixed the issue, i think. I had to reboot my home routers. Ever since the reboot of the routers, things have been very stable.
Google+ cannot be uninstalled because its pretty much android bloatware. Root your phone and you can delete anything you want within reason.

Google wakelock hell

I cannot get out of a Google wakelock. Bookmarks, contacts, calendar, books, services, play store you name it. Freezing apps is not releasing it, rebooting is not releasing it, force stopping apps is not releasing it, turning off auto sync is not releasing it. Deep Sleep battery saver and Greenify aren't remedying it either. I can't figure out what else to do. My phone has been kept awake 4.5 out of the last 6 hours(same thing yesterday). Weird fact,,,,under Accounts when Google sync was broken(red sync error message) I did not have any of these issues. Now that it's green and supposedly working I'm stuck in wakelock. Any ideas??????

Have you tried to clear dalvik and cache in recovery, then fixing permissions, after that clear data on wallet and set it up again, hope this helps...:good:
Nah that didn't work either. I think it's having something to with with Deep Sleep Battery Saver turning airplane mode on when I'm at work since the signal here is horrible. Leaving the cell signal on seems to have fixed the issue. Weird I've never had this issue with this set up in months. Alas, battery life is better with the cell signal on than off with the wakelock for now, but still not as good as airplane mode without the wakelock. I guess the Google sync is freaking out since it has no way to sync in airplane mode where as before when sync was showing broken it didn't matter.

Trouble with notifications

Having trouble when phone has been in sleep for half hour or more. Notifications coming through wifi are not working. I've being trying to solve it since yesterday but I'm not having any luck.
I've made sure the apps in question are on auto start in permissions, turned off ultra long standby mode in battery power management settings and set the apps to be exempt from cleaning in app protection settings and even turned off 'align wakeup' in power management, and of course wifi is set always on.
Phone is x820 model running fresh china 17S rom, to which i manually installed google play, gmail, bbm apps.. bbm and gmail are the apps in question are the ones not getting notifications, even though phone can receive an sms messages no problem, weirdly even receiving an sms doesnt spring the other notifications to work, also when turning the screen back on notifications still don't come for up to ten minutes even though wifi is working fine.
Any help would be really apreciated, thanks
Hi,
I'm in the same situation as you.
Also my calendar doesn't want to sync. I've flashed phonesky.apk for google apps but it doesn't contains google agenda sync adapter.. so no agenda sync
I've some app which is always run but seems to be cut by the system
Also have a lot of start up app (reboot) but nothing start huhu

Yeah it's pretty odd. Maybe the trying the Indian rom is the solution.
Generally the settings for notifications should be done in this way:
1. Check that notifications for the desired apps are ON under the menu Settings - Notification Management
2. Allow the apps to start automatically under the menu Settings - Permissions - You have allowed ... apps to auto launch
3. Disable the auto cleaning of the apps under Phone manager - Power Saving Management - App protection
I have Lock-Screen cleanup unchecked, Ultra-Long standby during sleep checked, Align wakeup checked, Clock night-alignment mode checked.
In this way I have no problems with notifications with whatsapp, viber, e-mail (I'm using yahoo mail with the stock email app), fb messenger, Facebook.
If the above are done and stil there are no notifications, then check in the app itself. The last but not least, reflash the firmware.

thanks for the info, you may be right that it is bbm and the specific gmail account playing up, the phone is for my son and on his old phone was getting @1000 notifications gmail a day lol, i cleaned it up and maybe that's made that gmail acount weird for now.
anyway can i ask what rom you are running, thanks

It's seems when my screen is off, the data is also off because i've shown 0.00kb/s when there is a connection to internet (wifi or data)
but when i turn it on, 1 sec later it show 0.00kb/s so when screen is off, no data ??

If your data will work all the time, then the battery will be drained fast. The phone connects from time to time to the Internet and then you'll get the necessary notifications. I cannot tell you how often is this, but you can decrease the time by deselecting Align Wakeup in Power Saving Management.
I am not sure that the way described above is correct, so if someone knows differently, please state.
edit.. thought i found a workaround, but I jumped the gun. Still trying to work this out.
I'm giving up, thinking about sending phone back under the reason of not fit for purpose
Maybe we need to try cuoco rom.
I've installed gapps by myself so maybe they is a bug with it
I've been testing WhatsApp all night, checking every hour if a message will get through and so far it has.... but i bet as soon as i post this it will stop working, that's the luck i seem to have lol
oddly on 19S rom WhatsApp is automatically set up to lock itself in memory, with the lock sign in recents screen, and autostart enabled in permissions
edit, put the phone in airplane mode while i slept, turned airplane mode off and now whatsapp won't get notifications even with the screen on unless i open WhatsAppl
I'm sure it shouldn't be this hard

Question Push notifications problem

Of all apps / messengers I tried, only OkCupid push notifications don't work AT ALL on my Realme GT 5G (Android 12, Realme UI 3.0, C.20 GDPR). Viber, WhatsApp... working as expected without any fiddling with settings.
I literally tried everything I could think of:
I turned notifications on in app itself and in Android settings too (some of them that I need and, in the end, all of them). Battery optimization is turned off for the app. Background activity is allowed. Autostart allowed. Auto app-freeze and some more Realme battery settings turned off. Locked OkCupid app in task manager / left it to work in background. I restarted phone multiple times. Tried varius combinations of above settings. Deleted cache, reinstalled and updated app - nothing works. Only when I load app it'll show a badge on messages tab and sometimes even that doesn't work and I have to manually open the tab to see the message.
Also, GSAM battery monitor is sometimes being killed for no reason although I whitelisted it everywhere.
I'm out if ideas so if anybody have any fresh idea, please let me know.
Thanks.
