Hi guys.
I'm visually impaired. I had used for some years a Tablet Galaxy Tab S 10.5" (2014).
But now I bought a Mediapad M5 PRO, but I have a big problem with this.
I ever had used the 3 press button shortcut to activate inversion colour (accessibility) in my android device (it works fine in IOS too), but now in my MediaPad I can't set a shortcut for this accessibility function. This shortcut is really important for me, I use it a lot of time durring the day.
I tryed some apps to create a shortcut, but it didn't work.
Can you help me?
Thank you guys.
Tasker should allow you to create an action that toggles the Colour Inversion setting. Takes a bit of setup, though, and a bit of adb tweakage. You could then launch the action via a shortcut widget or gesture in Tasker.
The secure setting is called "accessibility_display_inversion_enabled", if that helps. You'll need to run an adb command to allow it to work:
adb shell pm grant net.dinglisch.android.taskerm android.permission.WRITE_SECURE_SETTINGS
Right, I can confirm that this works. I hope this helps!
Download Tasker from the Play Store
Open Tasker and click on the "Tasks" tab at the top
Click the (+) button in the bottom right of the screen to add a new task
Call the task "Toggle Colour Inversion" and click the tick to continue
Click the (+) button in the bottom right to add an Action
In the "Select Action Category" dialog, select "Settings" then "Custom Setting"
Enter the following:
Code:
Type: Secure
Name: accessibility_display_inversion_enabled
Value: =:=toggle=:=
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
You're done, so click the back button in the top left, once to get back to "Task Edit" and once more to get to "Tasker" home.
Select the top right menu drop down and click "Exit"
Click "Save First", in order to save your new task and action
On a home screen with some space, long press the screen and click the "Widgets" button
Scroll right until you see the "Task Shortcut" widget
Drag it onto the space on your screen
When the "Task Selection" dialog is displayed, select "Toggle Colour Inversion"
Click the 9 dot icon in at the bottom, select "Material", filter for "Toggle" and choose an icon for your shortcut
Click the back button in the top left to return to your home screen with your new shortcut, clicking the launcher back button twice to exit widget selection
You should now have a new icon on your screen called "Toggle Colour Inversion"
Now comes the adb part!
You'll need an adb setup - grab one here and install on a PC
Back on the tab, enable Developer options: go to Settings > System > About tablet and tab at the "Build number" until you see a message saying you're now a developer
Go back to Settings > Developer options and turn on "USB Debugging"
Plug your tab into your PC using a USB cable
Back on your PC, open a command line and CD to the adb folder
Paste the following command and hit return:
Code:
adb shell pm grant net.dinglisch.android.taskerm android.permission.WRITE_SECURE_SETTINGS
Back on your pad, click your "Toggle Colour Inversion" shortcut
Viola!
Click it again to toggle back!
You can drag your shortcut down into the apps bar at the bottom of your homescreen, to make it even more accessible
A bit technical, and Google really ought to make Android accessibility options more, well, accessible!
Thanks a million.
Now it's working!!!
Thanks a million! It's is working fine now.

didn't use this ROM and don't have enough info, so I'm shoooting blind here:
do you see the screen I pasted, but with only two tabs ('Time' and 'Alarms') present?
-> if no, then you need to get there - go to HTC settings page, press 'Menu' button on right bottom of the screen, choose 'More' and then you will see the standard WM settings with 'clocks & alarms' icon
-> if yes then you could try changing this in the registry: go to the key [HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Shell\TaskBar], and set value of entry 'LimitedClock' to 1, then soft reset and check if it worked

i have only two tabs(time and alarms) and i try with total commander to change the registry and set the LimitedClock value to 1 and reset and clock is still up, then set LimitedClock to 0 and soft reset and he is here ...
btw. default value of LimitedClock is 1
seems that a question similar to yours was asked in Elegancia ROM thread, and the only suggestion to be found there is BattClock
I just got my CM7 up and running on my NC.
As someone who spend most of his life using PC applications, I think running an Android take some getting used-to.
My question, when you move from one menu (inside an app) to another, how do you navigate back, like the <- button on a browser.
For example, I was running the the File Manager, and with one false touch, it went into the Advanced Feature (Exclude from media scan). Now I am struck in this page, hitting the n button just terminated the app, but if I am to restart it, it went right back to the same page.
Now I am frustrated as hell
Dont you have the Back button at the notification area together with the rest of touch buttons like Home, Options etc?
Once inside the page (also happened in other app too), there is only two ways out: hitting n or press the power button until the menu showed up. And I don't see the kind of options you mentioned.
Go to Settings > Cyanogenmod Settings > Tablet Tweaks >
then uncheck "Disable Fullscreen".
But, when I entered the screen you mentioned, my status bar never goes away...
You should have some icons on your status bar, there..
Also under Tablet Tweaks setting, under Choose soft-buttons, make sure Menu and Back are at least checked.
Which version of CM are you running anywho? These soft buttons were added quite a while ago.
I was using the Encore 164.
When I run the Cyanogenmod Settings, it crashed with the message The application has stopped unexpectedly, please try again.
The problem just repeated.
I don't know if it will help you but this is what you're looking for.

It's in the status bar. The instructions above are to make sure the status bar is showing and that you haven't somehow removed the back button. If you still can't get CyanogenMod Settings to open you might try restarting your Nook. That's one PC trick that still applies to Android.
I rebooted the NC many times, and without CyanogenMod Settings to run, look like I am out of luck .

Use the rom manager to flash the latest nightly, the installation should take care of your issue for you.
Something else that might help:
/settings/cyanogenmod settings/tablet tweaks/choose unhide button
I have mine set for volume down.
If I ever lose the status bar, I can just hit volume down to make it show again, and get that back button available again.
Now you can make it go away when watching movies or playing games, and if you need to use it you can summon it at your whim.
Thanks to all those responded.
I have since redid my CM7 (format/clear cache, data and what not) and after that, I could see the soft <- button at the bottom of the screen and cyanogenmod settings is no longer crashed.
Again, a big THANK YOU to all of you!

Cool, thanks for this tip, I really like using this now.
I wish to change the 2 shortcuts at the bottom of Gingerbread default home screen (Phone, Browser) to something else (Messages, Gmail). But I couldn't find a way to change those icons either by press and hold on the shortcut, or by dragging icons from the Apps screen.
What's the best way to change them without using 3rd party launchers?
Thanks.
On 2.3.5 Samsung Galaxy Mini I just press Menu key in app drawer and then edit to change Touchwizz launcher shortcut.
I am not totally sure if I can remember right, as I do not use the stock GB launcher at the moment, but have you tried using the menue button while the app drawer is opened?
try going on the app drawer,press the options button near the key and press Edit and then try and drag them
If you have the stock Gingerbread launcher, it is not possible to change them. You could try an alternate launcher like LauncherPro.
Please use the Q&A Forum for questions Thanks

Thanks for the idea, I tried to open menu at app drawer, show only:
- Manage applications (equiv to Settings -> applications -> manage applications)
- Search (opens Google search)
- Notifications (opens top-down notification screen)
- Settings (Opens Gingerbread Settings screen)

Alright then, I was using LauncherPro but for its bugs (like stacking icons), and slow load time on my aging machine, I'd rather give the stock launcher a try.

Is this stock Gingerbread launcher or Samsung launcher? The button looks like a Samsung one
Trick is being in the App List when you select the Menu button
Go from the Home Screen into your application list then select the Menu button - you'll now see Edit - View Type- Share App. Choose Edit and from here you can move out and then select what apps you want on the lower home screen. Select the Menu button again and chose Save. Once you are done it will leave your apps in the default view - choose the menu again and select View Type and select Alphabetical Grid - done and done.
For Stock GB 2.3.6 only. Newer Versions don't Require all this BS
Got it figured out, looks like the previous instructions have a missing step
1) Go to all Applications
2) Select "Menu", then select "Customization Grid".. Not Alphabetical or List
3) Select "Menu" and now the "EDIT" option shows up
4) You can Now "ADD" or "REMOVE" Shortcuts from Shortcut Bar
5) Hit "BACK" to stop the Editing function
I found the answer to your question!

I had the same issue with my Samsung Rugby Smart, until I found the solution here (it won't let me post links, so I will split it up and not include the first part, ok?)

Know more about your omnirom...
This guide will familiarize you with some of the unusual techniques and special features you get with omnirom. It doesn't matter if you are using it on galaxy 5 OR any other device.
Let's start
Quick Settings Panel:
First of all please keep in mind what I mean by these:
Pen icon =
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
Square icon =
Remove/hide tiles:
--->Click on the pen icon on the Recent Apps panel to start editing tiles.
--->Then, just tap on the tiles that you want to hide/remove. Then, tap the square icon above. Tiles would automatically adjust themselves. If you want this tile back, just click on pen icon and then you'll see the tile you removed (in a smaller tile) and just tap on it again to get it back.
Example:
I have tapped on battery tile because I want to remove it.
Dim the tiles:
--->First of all, tap the pen icon.
--->Start taping on the tile you want to dim, until it turns dim. Usually after 4-5 taps it turns dim.
--->Then, finalize them by clicking square icon.
--->To un-dim, press pen icon and then just long hold it and move around little bit and bring back to its position, it will be normal again and press square icon to finalize.
Example:
I have dimmed battery tile,it's hardly visible.
Flip the tiles:
--->Just swipe right or left on the tile you want to flip.
Example:
I have flipped the battery tile and it looks like this!
I am swiping the battery tile.
Notification drawer contextual top background:
Morning
Afternoon
Night
As you can see in the screenshots, the top background in the notification drawer is changed according to the time.
Enable from Settings > Notification drawer:
Notification drawer quick swipe even better:
Now, you can swipe right/left from anywhere inside notification drawer to go to quick settings panel unlike in cyanogenmod where you had to swipe from a line at the bottom.
Example:
The white dot shows from where i'm swiping right.
OmniSwitch:
Enable from Settings > more... (under Interface). Check the box- 'Use for Recents' and also go to Settings below that option and it will open up a new window. Turn on omniswitch from there also and check 'start on boot' if you want.
To swipe away apps like you do in normal recent apps' screen, just swipe down on the app.
Searching for lockscreen settings?
Go here: Settings > Security > lockscreen.
There are many new options under there compared to cyanogenmod. One of them is 'See through' which will keep your last screen on the lockscreen.
Example:
I was in the launcher last time before locking.
Active Display:
This is really nice feature. When your phone is locked and you get a notification, it will display a special screen which will look as shown in image below. It can also get you to app from which you receive notification and also you can see the notification there if you want.
Example:
But, when this feature is turned on, your lockscreen becomes very unresponsive (maybe a bug). When you press any key to show up the lockscreen, it will take 8-9 seconds to come up the lockscreen.
Wanna change battery indicator?:
Head over to: Settings > Battery.
Want more performance Settings?
Just swipe right like you do in Play Store and you'll get more settings.
Example:
Saw the new download notification?
In omnirom, download notification is more detailed. It displays even the download speed.x
That's it for now...
Thought I'd add a quick how-to guide on how to add quick toggles for changing to different display modes. I use them to change modes when editing photos etc, as Adaptive is far too over saturated for photo editing, Instagram posting etc.
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
All you need is root and Tasker.
If you don't know what Tasker is, shame on you
These are the commands you will need to choose from, depending on the modes you want to add as toggles. You can add any or all of them.
Essentially, these commands are all you need. You can run these from terminal and they'll change the display mode. But to get them to work from quick toggles requires a little bit more work.
Code:
[B]Adaptive display[/B]
echo "4" > /sys/devices/svc/OCTA/mdnie/mode
[B]
AMOLED Photo[/B]
echo "1" > /sys/devices/svc/OCTA/mdnie/mode
[B]Basic[/B]
echo "2" > /sys/devices/svc/OCTA/mdnie/mode
[B]AMOLED Cinema[/B]
echo "0" > /sys/devices/svc/OCTA/mdnie/mode
Open Tasker, go to the TASKS tab and click the New Task button (+).
In the small window that pops up, give the task a meaningful name. Call it whatever display mode this one is going to be. (Basic, Photo, Adaptive etc)
In the next window, click the New Action button (+).
Click Code > then click Run Shell
In the Command Field, enter the command for whichever display mode you want from the 4 listed above.
So for Adaptive, you would enter echo "4" > /sys/devices/svc/OCTA/mdnie/mode
Tick the "Use Root" option.
Press the back button to save this action and return to your task.
From this page you can assign the quick toggle an icon. This is the icon that will appear when you add it to the quick toggle area. Press the 9-dot menu button in the bottom middle area of the screen. This pops up a menu where you can choose your icon from a list of built in icons, or any other local icon you have saved on the device. I used a couple of built in ones, as you can see in the screenshot, in order to match the other quick toggles.
Once you've picked the icon, press the back button again, to take you back to the TASKS page. You should now see your newly added Task with the icon you chose over on the right hand side.
Now repeat this process for any other Display Modes you wish to add as quick toggles. Once this is done, there's just a couple of extra steps left.
In Tasker, open the main menu and open Preferences. Open the ACTION tab. At the top you'll see Quick Settings Tasks. This is where you can assign 3 of your Tasker Tasks to Quick Toggles.
So tap on the magnifying glass next to each one, and you'll find your Display Mode toggles are listed there. Pick the one(s) you want to add as Quick Toggles. What this does is actually add them as physical toggles in Android.
Close Tasker settings, open up the Android Quick Toggles/notification shade, press the 3 dot menu button, choose button order, and in among the spare toggles in the bottom, should be your new Display Mode toggles. Simply drag them up into the area where you want them to appear, and your're done!
(I have extra ones as I have another app (AutoNotification) which adds a lot more custom ones)
The first time you tap on one, your root app should prompt you to provide Tasker with root access. If not, you may have to grant Tasker root permission manually.
I've tried to make this easy to follow, but if you get stuck of have any issues, let me know and I'll be happy to help
Incredibly useful! Yeah I've noticed the same thing, this is definitely going to come in handy and hopefully Samsung builds a way to control the screen easier in a future update, or Oreo. Wishful thinking I guess!
Works perfectly on my S7 edge. Thanks I've made different Tasker profiles, for different apps
