I am seeing a 7-8% battery drain on my Exynos Note 9
I am using
4G data,
no wifi,
no BT,
no NFC,
AOD - On,
All sensors like - Smart Stay, Smart Capture, Smart Alert, Easy Mute etc Off
Screen Auto Brightness Off
Screen at 40% brightness
I go down about 2-3% overnight. Everything on except for NFC. Had the phone about a week now.

Try turning off all radios ( airplane mode ) when going to bed and see how much discharge you get once you wake up in the morning.

Is yours snapdragon or exynos?
sure i will do that tonight. But even during the day, i woke up at 7AM with 75% and now at 12:20PM it is 34%. I would have been in 30 mins of call, checked mails and whatsapp messages and that's all. NO games, NO video (youtube) etc. Isn't that too much? I am on 4G and all other radios off.

1% battery loss when on airplane mode with mid-battery saver on.
Will try without battery saver to see
Anyone ever tried analyzing the difference in battery drain between WQHD vs Full HD?
Read somewhere that there is no difference given that the phone still needs to push the same amount of pixels it was built to do. Curious..
in Exynos variant i am loosing 3% battery drain for 6.5hrs at night after turning off wifi and mobile data

Not necessarily. Could also mean that the signal from your telco company is not as strong as the other person's. This means your phone is pushing more power trying to get a better signal.

That's true. My house has bad telco network. Wi-fi does improve the battery drain a lot. Also my N9 is coming out to show its colors. Finished 2 work days with 40%+ battery.
So far, with Airplane mode 2% and without 3%. No AOD. Also rocks 2.5 days before recharging. At 2.5 days I have 15% battery left. I am impressed but it is still early.
Hahaaaaahahahahaah 2.5 days... GTFO !

2% an hour? How the hell do you get 2.5 days off a charge if you're draining 2% an hour? My standby averages .3-.7h an hour. Usually closer to .7%. I wish it stuck closer to .3% because I think .7% an hour is too high for the great reception I get.

I decided to do a "best case scenario" test, and see if some of my battery issues were from apps gone awry, or some other drain. I pulled my phone off the charger right after it went green, and let it sit on the table. Wifi is off, BT is on, and I'm using my airave, so the signal is a full 6 bars all the time. I have 3 email accounts configured. Two of them are direct push, and one is an IMAP poll once every 15 minutes. Few, if any, emails were received during this test. The breakdown is like this:
4hrs, 32mins on battery. Battery currently at 92%
Cell Standby: 33%
Phone Idle: 32%
Display: 23% (the display was only on for about 30 seconds of the entire test)
Bluetooth: 4%
Maps: 4%
Android OS: 4%
So at least i know there isn't a process running that is making my battery next to useless. My battery seems to be getting slightly better with each day of use, but I still can't wait for the extended battery/cover to be released. I really got used to that on my Evo.
Dave
that sounds a lot better than my setup.
I went from a full charge to 50% with very light usage in 8hrs . I've been asleep for over 7 hours.
Display: 29%
Cell Standby: 27%
Phone Idle: 26%
Android OS: 7%
Voice calls: 5%
Maps: 5%
However, I have horrible reception in my house, even next to the windows. All's fine as soon as i step out the door.
I've found that a weak signal has a dramatic affect on battery life with these phones. They do so much syncing in the background, and it takes so much longer with a weak signal (not to mention it has to transmit at a higher power). The signal makes all the difference.
Call sprint and get yourself an airave! They gave me mine for free.
Dave
do you guys have the display setting on auto or low brightness. My display usage is always through the roog. I am getting decent battery life. I turn 4g off usually and just use 3g unless I am gonna watch youtube videos or sometihng.
I unplugged the phone at 7:15 this morning and I have email, facebook all syncing. wifi off and I am at 92%. So far this phone is being very good at battery life, specially after the first few cycles.

7.5hrs & 70% battery left!!
Is it better to have the brightness automatic or a number like 30 percent?

I just use auto brightness, I had about 11 hours use and 80% remaining taking a bunch of pictures, a little navigation and texting. This is with wifi on about half the time.
My battery was crap for the first three days with the phone, after calibrating the battery and giving it a few cycles its been really good for me. I do top off the battery usually before I pull it off the charger for the day.
I have mine set to auto and I see it changes even as I'm typing this message. Truth be told, the battery does drain when we don't have good signal...

Auto brightness us worse for your battery. This is because it has to use sensors every set time interval to check the lighting. It's not a TERRIBLE drain, but over the course of 4-5 hours it would probably save you 5-6% if you set it something lower .
And to the other person who asked, your battery life is SIGNIFICANTLY lowered when you have poor signal. What happens is your phone's radio draws extra power when it has poor reception in order to boost its range/signal. For those of you who work in places with poor signal, I bet you can attest to this
Also, I have a few battery tips in my signature if you're interested in more. It's slightly outdated (as in there are more methods now), but everything in the article is still true

How many cycles have people run on their batteries? IE full to dead?
I have auto brightness, GPS on Bluetooth on, email sync every 3 hours, weather sync evey 3 live wallpapers, and I forget the rest. Battery lasts me 12-24 hours, which is about what I got with my Hero modded out with setcpu and etc. I like the battery life of this phone.

My phone died in about 6-7 hours of steady drain, then I calibrated by doing the same thing they told us to do with the OG evo.
Charge over 8 hours, turn off the phone charge another hour, turn the phone on charge another hour.
I top off by using the phone for a couple minutes, then putting it back on the charger until full. The phone clearly goes down to 95% from full while charging and back up, I like how on this phone you can see that it does it on the battery graph so you know.
I've had my phone off the charger for like 34 hours and I'm at around 48 percent battery remaining. Not heavy usage but not super light either.

69% as of now. I had to reboot today so I can't say this is average. I know there are issues that can't be fixed until root, but as a stock ROM, it seems the power management isn't half bad.

Hi guys
I've been playing around with my galaxy s3 for several days and I'm very pleased.
But one thing is still very annoying as a previous iphone owner. That's the battery life.
I just attached a screenshot. For 9 hours 12% drains during sleeping thus basically screen has turned on for only few mins.
Is it normal??

It's without sync and wlan, with sync and wlan it takes 2-3%
If you turn off wifi, data and GPS and put the phone on energy saving mode (its on the top bar menu, just drop it down and you will see it) then after 8 hours the phone is almost 0% drain.

Thats correct. It seems like for most people its the cellular data that is killing the battery. If I turn off 3G data, I get good battery as well but with cellular data turned on, battery will not last a day.

Thank you guys!! I'll test it out today
I'm going to turn everything off such as wifi, sync..
I don't use 3g often though. I'm a pretty heavy user like 4-5 hours screen on and I get 14-15 hours battery life.
Anyway I'll see how it will affect on my battery.

I actually just tested this over night. Wlan and sync off but 3G on, it drained only 4% during night. My old iphone 4 drained only 2% in the same conditions. However, I find 4% acceptable.

you have something else going on i lose 2% overnight...try airplane mode see what happens
I think your charger may be broken lol. You charge it every night yet your phone is at 53% when you wake up? Anyway, assuming you sleep 8 hours and that your phone was at 100% that is less than 50% on 8 hours. You probably get 17 hours standby time, not the best but not the worst. Try airplane mode

Coming home with 80% left....
what says your battery settings? what stands by "battery in standby"? How much takes "android system", how many apps are listed in total? Do you have battery save mode on?=> Try to turn it off. Do you have auto brightness? Turn it off, set the display to 40-50% and make a widget on home with settings to 100% so you can read under heavy sun. You are outside the day?=> turn the wifi off....

I still suspect this may be router related though. When I had my crappy Netgear, I would get strange periods of battery drain on my SGS2 when WIFI was left on. That just about all disappeared once I upgraded to an Asus RT-N16 running Tomato, and now, I don't get any drain on my SGS3 as well when I leave WIFI (set to "Always On" under Advanced WIFI Settings) idling.

I too think it's router related. It can possibly be due to Wifi dual banding in some routers that support it. Faster internet with less battery life.

If I charge my phone up and use it straight I'll get about 5.5 hours out of It ( screen on time ) but if I don't use it to intensively it'll be about 4.5 which doesn't make sense

That's strange. Do you have a lot of IM apps and widgets/apps that updates in the background? As you probably know by now, you shouldn't see more than 1-2% drop in battery in 7-8 hours if you don't touch it. I'm on GPe now that doesn't have the fancy battery saving features, and i'm getting very good battery life. It's currently at 70% after 10 hours on and 2 h 30 min screentime.
It's probably something that's going rouge in the background, but check your apps that updates automatically.

Nowp. Got Stamina mode on, with only 2 exceptions: email + weChat, and also see a 10% drop each night.
I assume the problem is that Wifi or Data connection do not get disabled in stamina mode. You expect them to be disabled, until a request comes from the programs for a "poll event", reactivated, task finished, and then disabled again. But from what i can tell, the connections stay live.
Have you try juice defender. I use it better then stamina. I only have home page and none live wall paper and I only get 1 to 1.1/2% loss all night from 100% to 99 or 98 in the morning

I have noticed this once or twice before, last culprit was google keyboard in about 8h overnight it was almost always awake (about 50%), almost 2h of cpu time, used near 400meg of data - this was in SlimRom
Last night I had 81% battery before I went to sleep at 10:00. I then put my Xperia Z Ultra in Stamina mode. At 6:05 (8 hours 5 minutes) after my battery dropped to 80%
Therefore I only lost 1% overnight which is excellent.
Damn. Thought i was getting decent battery life (currently at 1d 6h on, 5h 25m screentime), but the way you're going you might reach 7 hours screentime on one charge...
And the cp12 isn't currently available where I'm at. Bummer.

If you are in an area with very poor cellular reception and your cellular radios are on this can happen. It would help if you would post some screenshots of your battery usage in different scenarios; otherwise we can't help you too much
You could have a transistor leaking current or a short somewhere inside the device. Try a factory reset if you've exhausted all other options and if it persists contact Sony.
When you sleep, does your phone sleep, or does it stay up all night and crunch 1s and 0s? Rate this thread to express how you deem the speed at which the Google Pixel 3a's battery drains under standby conditions. A higher rating indicates that when the phone is not in use, the battery drains minimally.

Always on Display uses 1% per hour and you can't schedule it to turn off at night, so this is definitely not a 2 day battery. Flipping the phone face down while sleeping is a workaround.

Are you also using battery saver mode? I can't get below 5% unless I use battery saver mode.
Alright, I found out my weak signal was draining my battery. You can test this by leaving your phone in airplane mode overnight. If you get far less drain with airplane mode on, it's either your weak wifi signal, or weak cell reception. For me, it was my cell reception. I left the phone in a spot of the house overnight that has strong signal and I only drained 3%. That is only with digital well being disabled. All the other settings recommended above were reverted in a reset.
Actually I discovered the same the other day after having added a 2nd phone number through an eSIM. The respective network has zero signal in our bedroom. The same night the phone started draining the battery significantly more.
zer0 % drain over 10 hours last night even with Bluetooth and Wifi on.
I was probably tired last night and slept while watching Netflix ( otherwise I always turn bt, wifi, data etc off before sleeping.), And woke up just now to find this. I'm amazed. The only mobile I've ever had 0% drop overnight before this was with 2XL. But with everything turned off before sleeping. Absolutely Loving my experience with 3a, touchwood.
My only settings are-
Stock Launcher
No Root done.
Bt and wifi Scanning Off.
Digital wellbeing disabled.
Google location history ON.

It looks as if you have an LTE transmitter very close.
I am pretty shure that helps.
The 0% is very cool indeed.

Dunno about that...
I've used 7t, 11 and Pixel 3 at the same place(where I live) and it's always been 2-5% overnight at best.
0 is 0 though...
Another instance of 0% drain.
These are happening regularly now.
How are you guys disabling Digital Wellbeing? The option is greyed out on my phone. Running the stock ROM on the January 2020 patch.
I disabled it in settings
