Greetings! i'm currently looking for an android 6~7 rom for my huawei gr5 (compilation number on the title). I've found several but non of them matches the whole compilation and i'm afraid of bricking my phone, i've installed roms before but was on a nexus one (old old phone) so i'm basically new again. I would pretty much appreciate advice, links, and whatever might help me on this process. Thanks in advance.
There are lots of ROMs in ROMs and kernel section.
So any rom there with the kII l22 tag will work to me? Even if the c569b130 doesn't match? That's my biggest question.

All of them will work if you have a firmware with no VoLTE.

Those roms will work on your device...only caution is it should not be on volte..
Dont forget to Make a full backup and give it a try...
thanks for the advice!, what's VoLTE and how can i disable it?

Voice over LTE. You can't simply disable it for custom Roms to work. You need to be on B350 and below because B360 and above has VoLTE.
Mine is B130 so i'm ready to flash?

Also marshmallow firmware is required..
for the marshmallow firmware update, i can't just flash a 6.0 room to update it? (was used to do that with a nexus one haha...)

No.. stock marshmallow firmware should be on your device..
You can update via OTA update.. Or you canupdate manually.
After that unlock bootloader..then flash twrp and then flash any rom you want to.

Well I guess you can try from Firmware Finder. Worst case scenario is it will fail and your phone will boot normally.

Ok can you update the post once it has been found?
So, anyone flash this yet? I'm tempted but won't be back home to a PC (in case something goes wrong) until tonight. Just looking for some general impressions.
So, I did this. Pretty impressed with the overall device feel now, SE9 is nice . No hang ups other thank it took a long friggin' time, also remember this will WIPE all the data, so make sure to do a backup prior to. The initial/first phone setup is very iPhone-ish, imo.

Be warned; this update is ONLY for SM-G930A firmware - it has a second-stage updater that blocks all other versions (including SM-G930T, which I myself tried). In other words, it is a carrier-specific update, folks.

You could try flashing G930A firmware in Odin and updating that way.
(Not sure it'll work though)

If it weren't for this being a daily driver, I'd consider it. However, because it is, that's not an option. So I'll have to wait for either a neutral version or one that will work with the SM-G930T.
I am currently testing it out, I was on the latest U firmware and downloaded the latest ATT firmware, will update on how it goes
**EDIT
I am getting a model mismatch trying to flash G930AUCS4BRA1 (full odin file) on to a G930UUES4BRA1 firmware

Just a quick heads up for everyone thinking of using HuRUpdater for Honor 10 as I hard bricked my Honor 10 trying it out even by triple checking instructions carefully. It's definitely not compatible with it. Now I had to get it sent off for warranty repair. :crying:

No nothing at all. Tried everything. It's completely hard bricked. I even tried getting it to boot into fastboot mode but the display doesn't even turn on. I had to beg my mum to let me buy a new smartphone. I'm thankfully getting the OnePlus 6 and will sell the Honor 10 when it comes back from repair to pay my mum back. The only thing stuck in my mind is wishing I had just used erecovery earlier.

I used HurUpdater v0.3.zip and downloaded all firmware files for COL-L29 8.1.0.1.0.4 and renamed the files to match the HurUpdater thread https://forum.xda-developers.com/honor-9/development/tool-flash-official-firmware-recovery-t3769279 Then I flashed in TWRP Recovery. It flashed successfully and I rebooted once complete. Then I got the black screen of death and tried to turn the phone on.
It's strange as the thread shows that it works for the P20 that has the same processor and confirmed by a user.

I think there is some issue with those build in firmware finder one of my friend tried .120 build with HurUpdater and it flashed but got different device build installed. Its showing device as fty-l29 with chipset-boston as build number and may security patch .
But when he tried with 104 his device also bricked and currently can't switch on. Does any one of you know a way to recover it.

Ah okay, glad I'm not alone. I tried to search for solutions too but nothing. It would be ideal if Huawei/Honor had a similar tool like what OnePlus have for there devices because it's as simple as using an MSM Download Tool and installing the Qualcomm Drivers and then flashing all files in the firmware. Huawei/Honor could have one for Kirin devices.
Hi to all
A Spanish mate, who has a BKL-AL00 flashed a wrong firmware, a firmware for other variant, now he has lost both IMEI. Service center said that the only solution for this is changing the motherboard.
I've read in other Honor subforum, I don't remember which, someone bring a solution flash a previous firmware and wait for the OTA.
Anyone has boot, ramdisk and system for BKL-AL00 to flash it?
Or know any other solution to this?

I recently picked up a Chinese variant (STF-AL10) Honor 9 and wen through the process of unlocking the bootloader, rooting and re-branding to the European variant (STF-L09). All good. Was able to flash the latest ROM (STF-L09C432B378) using HURUpdater. All good except the 2 capacitive keys not working. Saw that there was a potential fix with an updated Kernel for build 366. So.... I tried flashing STF-L09C432B366 with HURUpdater. The flash appeared to be successful (no error messages except for the a couple that are expected apparently). But the phone was dead right after I tried rebooting from TWRP. Absolutely none of the reboot button combinations work.
Has anyone experienced this before? The seller is promising to fix or replace the phone so I've sent it back. But I'm still interested in finding out what went wrong. Are there any pitfalls when downgrading -- I only went from 378 to 366. My impression was that HURUpdater was fairly reliable. I'm wondering if the the B666 ROM was corrupted. I'm still surprised that I ended up with a hard-bricked phone.
Thanks.

Hello, for me happend quite the same thing, I tried to downgrade my original STF-L09 from b378 to b368 with HURUpdater and right after rebooting from TWRP, where I chose reboot to recovery, the phone died. Because it is in warranty I sent it to service last week. So I'm looking forward to what they'll say to me

You can not lower the firmware version if your firmware is gt Turbo
Your phone will fall into the state of usb ser
You can restore it but it costs money

What was the first firmware with gt Turbo? b377? Previously I successfully downgrade from b376 to b368.
btw your post is very useful!
Yeah, that explains a lot. What's been the best fix so far for the capacitive buttons problem? The one route I've seen is flashing the kernel file in fastboot mode from one of the patched builds (366, etc.) Any other ways that work?

My phone came back from service center after bricking it during downgrading from b378 to b368 with changed motherboard. So unlocking the bootloader via HCU client was needed. Unlocking succeeded, so now I'm going to flash new treble ROMs.
