Hi Friends,
I brought new LG V30+ Indian variant, i have some doubts regarding How to permanently Block app from accessing Internet in LG V30+?. Because my previous mobile has that feature in Data section of stock android 7.1.2. Now i am searching the same thing in this V30+ model but could in see. Whether the LG removed this feature or else it got hidden somewhere in the setting?
Please some help me to find a solution.:good:

no other possibility for doing this with LG OS?
Geez, dont konw if you can block complete access, but you could go into app manager, locate that app, remove all permissions and prevent cellular data use - or at least backgound use.

LG can't remove feature that even doesn't exist in Android. Your previous phone probably was some cheap xiaomi which indeed have some options in their custom miui ROMs. But nor Pixels nor Samsungs not have such feature

Ya i am telling some example for this, i have MX player free version, which will show annoying Ads all the times that everyone knows. if we have blocked this app from accessing internet( not only in background but permanently ) then it wont show any Ads. this is what happened with my previous mobile 10 or G which has pure android and it has not a single modification in Stock Android. I just exchanged that 10 or G to buy this LG V30+, other wise i would have show the Screenshot where the option present for blocking the app from internet in Data section of the settings.

I see the Ultra is not supported for this App. Disappointing considering we still can't download with Iplayer.......
Devices which can use Anywhere app
Sony Xperia L (C2105)
Sony Xperia SP (C5302/03/06)
Sony Xperia Z (C6602/03)
Sony Xperia Z1 (C6902/03/06/43)
Sony Xperia U (ST25)
It's Virgin's responsibility to update their app. Send them a mail and ask if they can update it.
The Ultra is missed by a lot of developers. I've had a good response rate from developers and they have all said that they acknowledge the issue and will get an update done.

They have only just added any Android support - took them ages. Use the "Contact Us" form on their website to request it to be added, that's what I've done.
If you are rooted there uses a module for xposed called play store fixes which tricks it into thinking the dpi of the phone is different.

I don't believe it's a DPI issue, it's model.
Answer from Virgin Media, not good news:
Thanks for your e-mail to Virgin Media about the availability of the

I don't see why there's a problem, there are many android devices with the same screen resolution and processor.
I would try one of the market helper apps, or xposed, to make Google Play think you're on a recognised device. I had to do this with previous phone, Note 2, to load the tesco clubcard TV app.

Doesn't the phone have to be rooted to use xposed? If so, then the app won't work anyway on rooted devices according to the comments in the store
A late reply but I have a One X which is also not supported. I used Device Spoofer to make my device appear as the HTC One. I was able to download and install the app from the market. In addition the app's record, remote control and program manager functions work perfectly however the ability to watch programs on the phone is blocked by a root checker.

You can only install the app on an approved device though (officially). The TVguide app has record functions but it doesn't have have network remote features.
Why do they do a root check? You can use the software on any PC, with whatever hacks you want installed, but there's some obsession with root on Android...
Hi!
I'm not new to the rooting scene - I've rooted practically every Android device that I've ever owned. However I can not, for the life of me, find any documentation at all on the interwebs about rooting the LG Google TV running Android 4.2.2. Towelroot and other root apps did nothing for me, sadly.
The reason for rooting is that I want to purchase Lightpack, an awesome TV backlighting system that can work with rooted Android devices to backlight the TV and effectively "extend" the screen (Google it for more info - XDA will not allow me to post outside links since my account is new). The app is installed on my TV just fine, but the issue is that Lightpack cannot enter "screen grab mode" without root, which is the mode where the lightpack updates in real time with the colors of whatever is on the screen, hence the whole point of purchasing it.
Has anyone been successful in rooting the LG Google TV? Here are my specs:
Android 4.2.2
Model no 47GA6400-UD
47" LG branded "Google TV" - once again cannot provide URL because I am below the post limit. Google the model no for more info.
Would be awesome if someone could point me in the right direction. Thanks!

Maybe The Sony One Is Easier To Work With Haha, Well Sorry I Couldnt Help And Good Luck !
Sweet! I got my LG Google TV rooted! I used Cydia Impactor over Wi-Fi and then installed the SuperSU APK manually - worked like a charm. Now I can buy Lightpack and it will work!
So excited. Yes!
Wish I could post a tutorial for those other LG Google TV users out there waiting for root - I can't post it yet because XDA is disallowing images and links in my posts until 10 posts.
Guide
Did your ever get a guide done for this? I'm interested in rooting my Google tv for lightpack.
I could share contact details if you would prefer.

I did, actually! Without huge knowledge of Android. I didn't find a guide specific to LG Google TV, but I found something on the web and did the equivalent of SSH into the TV over WiFi and pushed the root to the TV remotely. Unfortunately even with root, Lightpack's lazy devs never got screen capture working fully. It bogs the TV resources down so badly that the TV won't even shut off, have to unplug it.
So good news and bad news. Rootable but useless for Lightpack screen capture. Other root stuff works though.
Are you still active here? I am looking for someone using a Google TV by LG

There seem to be a few variant of the ROM depending on the region. Major difference base on what everyone is saying there is that the Chinese rom is horrible and the global/UK rom is better.
Well I have a OPX China version coming this week. It was a decent deal that why i went for it instead of the other version. So how screwed am I?
Is the China version really crippled? Is there a way to at least make it similar to the global rom? I know google play need to be installed and some app needs colorOS apps need to be removed.
How about notification and ram management? And major difference compare to the global ROM? Thanks for any feed back.
People complained about not being able to add a custom launcher. But you could always use adb to remove the coloros launcher to force the device to use the custom launcher. Also, all global variants are exactly the same, there really is no distinction between them.
My GF is using chinese edition and I am using AU edition, and both of us are in US, so I think I am able to tell you something.
Chinese edition is really for China(I am a Chinese so I know it). It will be perfect in China, but a disaster anywhere else in the world. You can always install google play in the original store and also uninstall some stock software and replace the launcher with adb. But three things are hard to change:
1. The background task is limited to 5.
2. Only the white listed app can auto start, other than the app in the list, only 5 are allowed.
3. G assistant can't work well, and G feed for Nova launcher as well. You will never be able to use ok google or hey google.
And for global version. The background management is worse than what I did with Brevent. And there is no great animation when you do super vooc charge. Other things are perfect.
Oppo is working on allowing bl unlock and Wuxianlin bet her own weibo account for it, so you will be able to flash global version soon.
Thank you for the great input!
I guess the China version is really crippled
Can you change the texting app to 3rd party and/mms like textra?
Whats the point of the 8gig of ram if they won't utilize it.

I keep thinking that if someone can find the variant identifiers in the roms we can make the phone think the international or eu rom is the Chinese one and spoof it into allowing it to install.

Thanks for that very useful. If I may ask couple of questions.
Can you please confirm global version doesn’t restrict notifications? You receive notifications as any other Android phone.
Can you get notifications on lock screen?
Default launcher is easy to change

The application made for the LG G8X that enables any app to be put in wide mode also works on the LG V60 ThinQ.
It is available from the Play Store.
Original G8X thread here.
I contacted the developer to see if he can duplicate the app for the V60, but in the meantime the G8X version works on the V60.

What do you mean by duplicating the app as it works fine, is there a feature not working in tbe v60?
Which version you was using?
I just downloaded 1.1.2 version, app name changed to " wide screen for LG".
This version didn't work with my new v60.
1.1.3
I tried the latest version 1.1.3 on my T-Mobile LG v60 and it did not work.

That is weird, t-mobile here and it works on 1.1.3 the app was updated to widemode for LG and it is working.
Make sure to go into the quick settings and you'll see it called "Wide Mode", then you'd have to connect the second screen, then from any app swipe down your quick settings and add it.
I uninstalled and reinstalled and it's now working. Thank you.
Thanks works like a champ.

I had no issues installing and using the newest version of this app available on the Google Play Store.
Every app I threw at it (not many, admittedly) worked as well as I could have hoped.
I wound up retiring my dual-screen accessory for now because it made typing in portrait incredibly uncomfortable and the neither Nova Launcher nor Fluid Navigation Gestures work on the second screen.
Neat idea, but the experience is just too compromised for my preferred software environment to offset the cumbersome implementation.

It's for apps that don't have a native dark mode. That setting would force them to adopt dark mode. Like the facebook app. Samsung and Pixel have that option but it doesn't look like LG phones have it :/.
I would love something like that, but don't think it exists for G8X. Unbelievable that Google Hangouts does not have a dark mode yet . I'm surprised Facebook doesn't, but I don't use it.
