[Q] Where can I find recovery.img ? - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello
I own a brand new Condor Allure M3 shipped with Android 8.1 (It has project treble). It has 4GB RAM and has a Mediatek Helio P60 (MTK6358) CPU. It is not rooted. The bootloader is unlocked too. I'm wanting to install TWRP on it, so I'm searching to get the recovery.img. I searched on Google how to do it and it asks to use adb and to make "cat /proc/mtd". After doing that, the file does show nothing, only the size etc... thing, so I don't know how to extract it.
I read that there is a way to root devices using MediaTek CPU, and I also read about Project Treble (my phone does have it).
Please help me installing TWRP or rooting it, it will be a big step.
Thanks !

UP please

How to root please?
Also, anyone know how to reflash this models firmware?
I think I stuffed 1 of them up trying to root.

Thank you. Have a nice day.
Hi there !
I have started a new thread on how to root spreadtrum devices here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2165554
May be you could find a way to root yours.
I also need you to test an idea to root them, but I'm not sure if it will work.
Because you already have a bricked one, you can try this idea without risking your device (and maybe unbrick it by doing a backup of the others one and flashing this backup on it.)
How have you bricked it precisely ?

Hi there, I recently got my hands on a Mobicel Titan, and after much unclear research, the best I can come up with is that it is a Spreadtrum SC6820a phone, hope I am on the right track. Anyway, my goal is to change the ROM on this phone as the software that Mobicel has bundled on their version of Android is way too much for the phone to handle. I have already rooted the phone using Z4Root successfully. Funny enough, the link you have is the very link I tried for the past week, I've tried ADB and Fastboot on both Windows 8 64bit and Ubuntu 12.10 64bit, and even ResearchDownload, all drivers were installed successfully, but when i try all methods to flash new ROM to the device, nothing seems to happen, even if I use ResearchDownload and follow instructions to the T, flash process doesn't start. After using fastboot to update CWM from Ubuntu 12.10, if I try to restart into recovery mode, it is then stuck on the Mobicel Logo. Is there a guide for the Mobicel Titan?

Can anyone help me root properly BLU Vivo 5 MINI? I'm freezed.

Hello all,
I'm a long date not registered user but after tryIng root my Blu Vivo 5 MINI a whole week I've come to the conclusion to ask for your help!
I'll try put all the things and methods I tried to achieve this, but not succeeded.
Device info:
BLU Vivo 5 Mini
Android version 6.0;
Build number: MRA58k
Baseband version MOLY.WR8.W1499.MD.WG.MP.V57.P14
Chipset: MT6580
What I've tried so far:
After enable USB debugging and unlock oem. I uninstalled my antivirus too.
- Tried root with one click programs like Kingroot, genius root, etc. The programs can verify the model vivo 5 mini but can't complete the process.
- Tried root with SP Flash Tool taking the stock rom and replacing the recovery.img by a twrp-recovery.img for chipset MT6580. After sucessfuly flashed and turn device on with power button + volume up button the system displays that's entering Recovery Mode but reset automatically doing a reboot. When I gave up of repeating this and let the device reboot I comes as a reseted stockrom or it soft bricks looping the boot screen until battery end.
- Tried flash recovery.img for mt6580 chipset by fastboot. Made device listed from adb devices, then entered fastbook mode by adb reboot bootloader and flash it with fastboot flash recovery recovery.img. At the phone screen displays data transfer status Ok and then when rebooted I get the same flooping error, cant enter twrp because I don't know why and when I let it go I get a reseted stockrom again or soft bricked.
I tried made this last step too doing the adb erase recovery.img and trying again. Tried made before it all some adb kill-server and adb start-serve and also kill the adb.exe process from task manager processes.
Can anyone please, help me? What should I do? Anyone already rooted sucessfuly a Vivo 5 MINI?
Hope you can help me and made me able to use the full potential of my phone.

Don't have a MINI. I found a twrp that was close to my XL2, used Carliv Image Kitchen to unpack it and the stock recovery. Had to redo some files, TWRP building thread shows correct formats and info needed, so read that and adjust for your MINI. Repacked using Carliv then flashed using SPF Tools. Once it worked, I backed up all my partitions then flashed SuperSU.
Once I realized I had all the info I needed to build TWRP, that is what I did.

Blu Vivo 5 Mini
For full disclosure I am not a developer so my anticipated apologies for any comments that sound weird.
I got a Blu Vivo 5 Mini for using as a data collection on a field project, expecting it would be OTG compatible. It happens that it is not from out-of-the-box.
I've been trying all sorts of suggestions to root it available on this and other threads but nothing works.
I spoke to Blu this morning and they told me that the hardware in this phone is not compatible with OTG. I am trying to understand what that means. Using OTG checker it only says I am missing the USB Host file.
Appreciate any light on this.
here is how to root the blu vivo 5 mini
I know i am a little late to answer this question

Hi folks, have you been able to solve this problem? I have the same problem with the same device, and cannot find the correct ROM. Thank you.
@mijailballack
the device in question is based on a MediaTek chip, hence you have to use SP flash tool made by MediaTek Inc. to flash and to use the USB-driver offered by MediaTek.
Bump
have similiar problem with Betterspace IQTAB, did any1 found rom for this device?

Need Help Rooting Gionee P5L

Phone Model - Gionee P5L
Chipset MediaTek MT6735
Graphics MaliT720 MP2
Processor Quad core, 1.3 GHz, Cortex A53
Architecture 64 bit
Ram 1 GB
OS Android v5.1 Lolipop
I can't seem to root my phone. Tried various One-Click apps and other methods such as rooting via a computer, but alas they have failed to root my phone.
Some people suggested that unlocking bootloader first would solve my problem. So I proceeded to unlock my phone's bootloader which caused my phone to go into a bootloop. So again trying to fix bootloop I flashed my phone's original stock rom. Again which caused my phone to be bricked, the hard kind. (had one ****ty day :laugh.
(Above paragraph in case you guys wanted to know, and I'm kinda new here and I'm not sure if this is the place to ask a question. Please inform me if I need to move this post elsewhere)
Now, the question.
Please help me root my Gionee P5L without unlocking bootloader as I'm afraid it might break my phone again. And please suggest softwares or apps that I should give a go to root my phone.
Apps and sofwares I have tried so far includes Kingoroot, Kingroot and Iroot. And also someone who had a similar phone as I do tried other apps like Frama but they still don't work.
Thank you
See this for twrp recovery & custom rom for gionee p5l

It solved. It was happening for an application which has taken the "display over the other applications" permission. I turned off that particular permission & it solved.
Thanks for your help

Rooting Asus zenfone X00KD [Trouble]

Hi there,
I recently got in my hands an Asus (Mediatek according to system properties) zenfone 4A Max X00KD. It comes with android 7 nougat installed, and fully bloated with usefulness apps.
I've tried to root it (I did it before with other devices with older android os) but this thing comes with a Chinese recovery boot mode which is very limited.
Steps I've already done:
-Usb debugging enabled.
-adb & fastboot tools working.
-Unlocked bootloader.
I've been reading about the SP_Flash_tool and the MTK_droid_tool as well as the ZenFone_Rootkit, but none of them work with android 7. The same happens with apks like kingroot (tried and without success).
Too many people talks about TWRP in order to inject Magisk tools' zip, but there's no version for this phone, and in order to complie I need the source (I think from the zenfone kernel, correct me if I'm wrong) but I'm unable to find it trough the web.
Am I missing something? Is there any way to root an android 7 with a chinese bootloader?
Thanks in advance.
Dear , did you find any solution ? I m facing same. thanks
i am facing the same too
