Hi! I'm rooted (Magisk) with xposed (NOT the systemless one). I just found an update (v20c Aug 7). I'm on stock Oreo running v20b-ESA-XX. My model is h930ds.
Can I update without doing anything else? I'm kind of doubting that. If not, what's the process. I tried some google searches but came up with nothing.
Thanks!

If u have the .kdz file, try using LGUP patched, uncheck the recovery box, so u still have TWRP.
Magisk etc will lost, but u can do that again with TWRP.

Appreciate the info. New to this device and was quite unsure how to proceed. Was always used to flashing custom roms after getting TWRP, but it looks like the DAC is broken on custom roms for tuis phone. So I'm staying on stock for now.
Gonna have to find the ptached LGUP.

You can use the quad DAC on custom ROMs, but to ENSURE that function you need to use one of two specific apps.
1) This one is the best, but is a paid app ($8).
USB PLAYER PRO
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.extreamsd.usbaudioplayerpro&hl=en
It accesses the V30 quad DAC, not the Snapdragon DAC. It will even play streaming music via quad DAC, not just local files.
High quality media player supporting USB audio DACs and HiRes audio chips found in the latest phones. Play up to any resolution and sample rate that the DAC supports! All popular and less popular formats are supported, including wav, flac, mp3, m4a and DSD.
This app is a must-have for every audiophile, bypassing all audio limits of Android. Whether you use our custom USB audio driver for USB DACs, our HiRes driver for internal audio chips or the standard Androi driver, this app is one of the highest quality media players around.

2) There's another app (free) that will also access the quad DAC, but only local files.
Onkyo HF Player
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.onkyo.jp.musicplayer&hl=en_US
But USB PLAYER PRO is the better of the two.

Now i feel dumb. Lol. Thank you. I really appreciate this.
I have USB Player Pro, and I'm currently using it. But I don't have good earphones yet so I use the stock player and Neutron (which works for me for now). They sound much better with the earphones I currently have (stock B&O and BT earphones that came with the device).
Again, thank you. I apologize for not searching hard. I'll do better next time.

Hi Zulu.
Thank you for this.
It has been a while since my flashing (Captivate and Atrix 2, well any phone before boot loaders LOL) days but I have to ask.
Will Fastboot wipe my user data or does it do a dirty flash?

you can install and try what you want.
SuperSu link is this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/apps/supersu/2014-09-02-supersu-v2-05-t2868133
the + sign mean that you can install supersu versions >= 2.67. In reality are working all SuperSu system less that patch automatically the boot image.
In Marshmallow you need a patched boot image that Supersu do automatically, this is the difference from the previous Lollipop firmwares.
If TWRP recovery ask, not install the old supersu, not mount the system, and not inject multirom stuff.
i used this twrp recovery: twrp-multirom-20151112-UNOFFICIAL-foster.img
http://forum.xda-developers.com/shield-tv/general/recovery-twrp-2-8-6-0-shield-tv-variants-t3140926
Yes the L version. I not tested the newer version, but i assume should work.
I not install the TWRP recovery, i only boot it with the command:
fastboot boot twrp-multirom-20151112-UNOFFICIAL-foster.img
If you want test a Vulkan example, you can install this Nvidia sample Vulkan Threaded Rendering:
https://developer.nvidia.com/vulkan-android
i also tested many videos format expecially 4K HEVC H.265, work very well.
audio, passthrough, webcam, mic, bluetooth etc. all tested.
kodi, netflix , google movies, youtube, chrome all passed my tests.
i flashed the device one million times and installed root 2 millions times, all ok the bootloader seem solid now, but i boot TWRP recovery and i not install it, for my precaution.

All the videos HEVC H.265 4K that i have tested work very well. And this is related to the firmware.
I not have a 4k Netflix account, i can't test, but if works or not work 4k on netflix can be only for a protection reason of Netflix and this is not of my interest.
For Netflix and 4k, my suggestion is run the Netflix TV app, use app settings xposed module and set immersive and 320 dpi. So the app have the same values of the stock firmware. Instead if the protection is in another place, i don't have the 4k account to test.
4K videos work wonderful on this firmware.
BUt many thanks for your test and suggestion.
Hello guys.
We are grateful because ASUS have included so many useful gimmicky bloatwares in the stock ROM on our device. One of them was AudioWizard. As a groovy sound lover, I didn't found myself satisfy with AudioWizard's sound modes. Because of that, I come here to guide you on how to install ViPER4Android FX properly on your device as I have tried several methods and tempting many errors during installing the driver.
DISCLAIMER: DO WITH YOUR OWN RISK
Do a full nandroid backup! I don't want to take any responsibility if something unexpected happens.
Tested & working fine on my ZE550KL.
I think it should works on any ASUS Zenfone 2 Laser devices as long as you are on stock Lollipop ROM.
Not supported on CyanogenMod 13.0 ROM (Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow).
Known issues:
-AudioWizard isn't working. (You get a payback, dude! It maybe conflict or the V4A broke down the AudioWizard. But you will enjoy a great sound effect better than AudioWizard. Don't cry.)
-FM radio isn't working. (If you think this is very important for you so don't flash.)
-Sound recorder isn't working.
What do you need on your device?
...a working custom recovery such as TWRP or CWM
...a working root access
...BusyBox installed properly
Download the required file (ViPER4Android lollipop.zip) from the link below.
https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B9vjPTwrSocDYzNlTXVrUG44Mms/view
Or download from the attached file (ViPER4Android lollipop.zip) below.
Flash it through your custom recovery.
If you want to use only ViPER4Android FX as a global audio effect, follow Normal mode. But if you want existing audio effects to work, follow Compatible mode.
Enjoy your new audio effect!
Credits & special thanks are given to:
@zhuhang the creator & developer of ViPER4Android FX
@asett3 for sharing the file with me
hi thank you i've been looking for this but i think i don't have acces to the file
Hey you all who are requested, sorry for the inconvenience. Now you can access the file freely.
update
Working perfectly in ZE500KG im sorry i wrong flash it non in twrp
FM is not working after flash.
FM and Sound Record is not working after flash
I didn't notice that FM radio isn't working when I'm still using V4A on stock Lollipop ROM. But my recording app is working well. The most thing I have noticed is AudioWizard not working. It maybe broken down by the V4A.
Sr. M Huzaifah
Bugs shown in the Stock Rom, were these:
- FM Radio does not work, no sound.
- It is not possible to record a phone conversation, because the Sound Record does not work.
Can anyone correcting these bugs?
Thank you

If it is really won't work and you want to make it work again, you need to flash the full firmware. Or you can revert/restore back if you have made a full nandroid backup. Don't use this V4A unless you think the issues isn't disturb your daily driver.
On MM is working if you install it normaly. Just download Viper4Android and install the driver, if is not working try to open the equalizer using your music player. If you use stock music player to open the equalizer it will open the stock one, try with musixmatch ( go to now playing and pres the 3 dots and open equalizer ). Is working with stock equalizer and Radio, Call Recordind is working

One of the best thing about an unlocked and rooted phone is Viper4Android.
I've been using it since 2015 on various versions of android
I use these Viper mods
https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/software/viperaudio-viperatmos-3-8-sq-driver-t3289075
These were super easy to install by just flashing the zip
But now on oreo these ZIPS won't flash
Makes my recovery go freeze
Stuck at copying files
I know I can get Viper4Android through magisk module on Oreo
But they they don't offer that bass and quality as compared to beats and sony edition. As they don't contain the driver files
Also the GUI is material design
So can anyone tell my how to get this version working on my MIDO.

I can't really compare it to viper, because it is a sound mod which combines multiples of sound mods in one. Like you get dolby atmos, viper, beats audio mod etc all in a single package. It's actually good.

You talking about this one?
I have been flashing Rise Magnum Opus everytime and so far i has been working flawlessly on any oreo rom i tried.
It installs Dolby Digital Plus and Viper last versions, along with the magisk model it needs to work.
I need a newer rom for my RN2 currently on stock which is rooted etc... I would like at least android 6 but prefer 7..I need to update due to several of the main apps I use staying they are no longer supporting adroid 5 and below. But at this time don't see the need to buy a new phone when the rn2 is in perfect condition.
So am looking for a rom that is fully wprking with good battery life.. So what can folks recommend??
Please provide a link to what you are using and a note about which recovery you are using..

Xposed on this rom works, i don't use Gapps, i use MicroG. I think this rom does not contain Gapps. If the rom doesn't contain Gapps, just download and install. Personally, I recommend MicroG, it uses less battery, but you need to be able to fix it, there are problems.
