Hi all!
I came from Nougat and update to Oreo following a step by step from XDA.
Flashed the update thru Odin, patched Dm verity also with Odin and flashed TWRP. No root.
After it boots into the system it shows 24GB total internal storage (on ES Explorer and Disk Usage. Samsung "My Files" shows 32GB...
Tried all I read here.
Tried booting in TWRP and format data.
Tried wiping all ways.
Tried downgrading to Nougat.
No success...
Any clues?

32 GB is the total storage WITH SYSTEM
24 GB is the storage that you can use.

Oh, really???!!!
Geez...
But it has always been like that or it is something that started being shown like this recently (Nougat and Oreo)?
Anyways, thank you for the answer!
It's always been like that because I have a Galaxy Tab 3 tablet with Android 4.4.2 (KitKat) and it shows the same thing.
8gb for system?
In a terminal emulator or adb do:
df > /sdcard/df.txt
Post it here.

I am new to custom roms. I am using a samsung galaxy s2 I9100 now running CM13 on Kernel 3.0.101-cm-g008e15d-dirtylysergic_acid. No sd card installed. replaced PIT (I9100_1.5GB-System_6GB-Data_512MB-Preload_by-the.gangster.pit) as stock was too small to install smallest Gapps.
Since installing the custom rom even before replacing the PIT the phones system seems to have lost access to internal storage. I can only sees local data when in recovery mode. When connecting phone to laptop, set usb to MTP. Can see phone in explorer but no sd card. Can provide screen shot if needed. After replacing PIT installing gapps and es file explorer. Open es and get popup at the bottom /sdcard is not found. After doing the rounds on forms several reinstalls, adb shell scripts still same issue. non of the fixes have been able to resolve the issue. I believe these issues are related and may be problem with permissions . I am also getting a messages unfortunately music has stopped, gallery has stopped, google service have stopped, whenever is try to access local data when launching an app.
If the above is confusing let me know and will try again or if any further information is required.
@Lost Mako
After you flashed the pit with Odin and flashed a recovery, in recovery did you format internal storage?
If you used cwm then you should format it as default, if TWRP then format it as the default file system set there as well, some file systems doesn't work with the phone or the PC.

Thanks for the reply, im using cwm, I did format /sdcard0(Internal storage) as default. Would I need to format the other partitions as well?

Yes, You should do that as well, after that see if the rom reads the internal storage, if not try another rom.

I also already rooted the phone and got trwp on it and flashed pure nexus back again.

Did not work for me
I bought my S3 two days ago and I noticed that the system occupies 18,75GB!!! Is that correct? So what is the use on having 32GB if almost 20GB come already used from factory!!!!
Moreover, still could not root mine using the files and tutorial found around here. TWPR passes on ODIN install but gives me a boot looping... So that I can't enable adoptive storage on my 64 GB SD card.
Please let me know if it is correct.

No, post a screen shot of your storage usage.
Thanks for your time!
Attached.
I factory reseted the tablet and the space occupied by system now is around 7,8 GB.
Somehow it was duplicated in the first case. I have flashed OS through odin after a boot loop so I think it was a cache issue.
Anyway, solved.
Hi ,I updated my HH7 PLK-L01-C185B130 (middle east version) to B380 and then by OTA to B382. I found that security and fast charging options were gone in this update. so I decided to downgrade to Lollipop. I used Rollback package 6.0-5.0.2 to downgrade. although it installed but didn't showed the transition firmware (B300). Now I put already downloaded C432B121 ROM into dload folder of micro SD and flashed it. it installed successfully and now build number is PLK-L01C432B121. The problem is phone's internal storage has been reduced to only 3.8Gb total. :crying::crying:
I have tried to go to recovery mode to wipe data and cache but it fails and shows "Software install failed"
I know i have mixed the firmwares and the old one would still be present in internal storage which has consumed all the storage. Please guide me to recover this. thank you
Can you bring your device to the service center?

You can flash downgrade package again and then flash correct firmware according to you build number
I factory reset the phone and recovered the 10gb internal storage.

My phone has a 32GB storage space, but after I have flashed the RR Oreo ROM, the maximum space shrank to 9GB. Do I need to re partition the space? There is a thread which is the same situation as me but it's for nexus 6 phones....
I cannot flash stock MIUI 9 rom due to fail unmount when installing using TWRP...
Please suggest what I can do...
Sounds like you messed up your partitions. The same commands you'll find in the Nexus threads will work for all devices, AFAIK. Do an advanced wipe and resize the file system in TWRP. If that doesn't work, try fastboot format userdata in fastboot. Then try flashing the stock MIUI recovery (here it is for mido devices only!: http://en.miui.com/thread-528989-1-1.html) for your device and stock ROM for your device.
You might have to use Mi Flash. Qualcomm devices only.
Based on your steps, I have formatted however I had used ext4 and reverted to Stock MIUI rom. However just checking, I had 23.77 GB of storage space. Is this normal? Or I have to restore by stock recovery mode?
It shows in storage settings:
NON-SYSTEM STORAGE
Available 23.77GB Total: 25.23GB
Thanks for your help!

Yes. The system will always take up some space, and so will storage in general. For example, a 32 gig USB stick might have 29 gigs of available space. Smartphones add system files on top of that. So that 29 gigs becomes 25 gigs once the OS is installed.
And yes, you should only have 24-25 gigs available at most: https://forum.xda-developers.com/redmi-note-4/help/usable-storage-size-32gb-model-t3634746
You could try flashing a custom ROM to see if you can get more space back. MIUI is really big.
