Hi, I lost my dog yesterday and have accidently deleted a few videos and lots of photos of our last months together, these were stored on the SD card in my phone. I have a Motorolo G3 running Android 6.0.1.
I have spent most of today downloading various apps to try and get my files back, DiskDigger was the only sucessful one but it was only able to recover thumbnail size pictures. I have tried Recuva which cannot see my SD Card when the phone is connected via USB with the USB file transfer option enabled. Easeus can see the phone but asks that I enable USB mass storage to recover the files, unfortunately I already have this enabled when I see the message.
Would rooting my phone help? From what I can gather I only need to root my phone if the files I want to recover were stored on the phones internal storage, I am mistaken?
Does anyone know how I can recover these files? There are a few very special photos and videos that I desperately want back.
Thanks
No ideas?

Hi all,
Been searching for a while but i cant seem to find the answer, im trying to make my phone appear on my pc so i can recover some files i accidently deleted, the problem is it will only show up as the storage card, i can get the phones memory to show up but only via active sync, so im just wondering is there a way to make the phones internal memory appear as a removable drive so i can run a recovery program on it?
Cheers

Not that I know of. Can you not run it via active sync?
or maybe vise versa?
When connecting as a mass storage device, the OS on your desktop/laptop takes control of that "removable disc" (can't access it via the phone). Only sd card - external storage can be available. I presume that the inner storage must be maintained by the phone at all times, when turned on.
You can however make a backup or modify files within the inner storage with a file explorer installed on your device (Resco explorer for example). Just make adjustments, to view hidden and system files.
I wouldn't advise you to delete or modify critical system files tho...

I accidentally deleted a whole album instead of a photo off my phone, and I was wondering if it's possible to restore the photos. The photos were saved on my device storage and not the sd card.
I did some research and I came across various programs to restore my photos, but my issues is that there is no longer the 'usb mass storage' option on 4.3, therefore my computer only detects my phone as media device of camera.
Is there anyway to enable the usb mass storage option/ any other way to restore my lost photos?
Hi,
Well I have this LG G2 and somehow I got it reset, now all the contacts, images, messages, everything is gone. I tried using a recovery software but the thing is the software doesn't recognize my phone as another drive to recover. I have used EaseUS and Recuva but no output. My PC recognizes the phone as a media player not an external storage device. Is there anyway for the PC to recognize it as external storage media so that I can recover data.
Ps: USB Debugging is on
There are programs that will help recover some of the stuff. Dr. Fone is one. It is free to try but paid option to recover, I believe. You won't be able to mount as external, but Dr. Fone will work regardless. There are also some programs that work on the phone such as https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.defianttech.diskdigger&hl=en . All recovery programs will work better if your device is rooted. The ones on the phone typically just look for pictures. Dr. Fone will look for messages and contacts too, if I remember right. Contacts should be linked to their perspective accounts anyway. Google, etc.
