Haven't received mine yet, but my impression is that it runs like greased lighting even with MIUI. Very likely it will run a shade better with a lighter AOSP firmware or with an android one build, but I'm guessing the speed of the hardware would be pretty forgiving! Looking forward to something closer to stock, simply cos that's the way I like it
Since they mentioned that they made some optimizations on top of miui during the event I would say debloated MIUI would be the smoothest experience
Stock Android isn't better than miui. Here is comparition between mi6x and mi a2. Its the same phone
https://youtu.be/aucLognRHqg
I think this is a question of personal choice and preference. I don't know what to do with all that MIUI features and stuff. I think LOS or AOSP or Nitrogen or similar with Poco. That would be nice.

I personally cant wait for miui 10 since beta is already is performing much better than miui 9
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SbDGlg8qqFI
In my case, MIUI 9 works fluid and conserves battery better than what I expected. It feels like Mi A1 on stock Android and 4000 mAh battery.
On top of that, I turned off MIUI Optimizations so you might to try that as well.
If it were launched with Android One, it would have killed every fkin device on the planet.
Talking about custom ROM, however skilled you are, some features are really hard to port, most famous example is VOLTE, on some phones it's hard to port while on others developer don't want to.

Yes, I did create a lot of threads and that is my fault I agree but this guy had accused me of being a jerk and had said that I am lying while I am not.
He already called me names, no one defended me by saying that those were personal attacks, now you are offended?
Apart from that, he himself said in a post that Poco F1 seems to have atleast 2 different digitizers in which one is good while the other one has fault, now, do you want to defend a company who does such things?
Almost all Indian Poco F1 units seems to be affected by this, this is not a small issue but a major one. Also, the device is in replacement but the company who sold me this device (Flipkart) refuses to return it and asked me to go to service center while the device was in return period.
What would you do if you were in my shoes? Xiaomi is not replying to any email, tweet or bug reports. So the only viable choice is to post it everywhere possible.

I have googled around...
MIUI Scotland posted a message on twitter a few days ago, saying they were basically working on the SGS3 version of MIUI.
There's also a dev attempting to port MIUI based on a thread which is called "how to port MIUI to your device".... but don't think he has got very far yet...
Aside from that, there is absolutely no news otherwise.
Sorry I can't link you up just now (tired...)
rest assured it's on it's way.. just takes time unfortunately.

Really? We don't need this kind of attitude. MIUI isn't just about the iphone-ish UI. You can just change the launcher if you don't like it. Most that wants it look for it's functionality and ease of use. Cyanogenmod might as well have those features also, but to each his own. This is what android is all about anyway; the option to choose if need be.
OP is asking a question, and instead of berating him, either help him out, or keep quiet if there is nothing to contribute.

It's amaze me hw people talk about "this room is the most stable". Even with custom rom (exept CM7 alpha on my sgs) i never had any "random reboot" or "unexpected crash".
Anyway, i dont like MIUI style, but it's what android is all about (for us anyway) choice, if some user like it, why not.

How can someone add developers to a phone? Xda isn't a company that has developers that get paid to make custom roms and kernels. Developers here are all volunteers. They don't get paid for what they do. They develop for phones they have.

you will have to wait its still a new phone even unlocking the phones sim lock hasnt been out long and is only possible through SETools.
give it a while and once ICS is out and the devs get hold of the phone it will happen, altho we have to wait for ICS 1st!!! lol
Once it has ICS you may see more devs. Problem is the phone isnt widely available for free on all carriers and it isnt the flagship model. Most lowend phones receive less dev support.

I'd say that it has to do primarily with sales, not with the status of the phone as high or low end. The Xperia Play was a mid-high end when it came out, and it didn't have a huge community since it sold poorly. The HTC Wildfire and Xperia X8 were thought as mid-low end or low end models and they still have a following: they sold decently well. One has to take into account other factors as well: whether the bootloader is locked or unlocked (this basically blows Motorola out of the water), whether the company is overall hostile or friendly towards devs (Sony has made huge strides to please them, which has shown nice results), the difficulty of making ROMs themselves (Chinese companies have tablets which are easily hackable, but they tend not to publish source code)...

Devs are working hard to build it, but there seems to be issues building it from source and flashing it. Some Quincyatt users tried to flash it when a dev build it, but failed to flash. Be patient . You might have to wait until February or earlier, because other devs that make roms for other phones are already building Lollipop 5.0.2, which is major fixes,

What kind of proof do we have that we aren't waiting on a ghost?
There is no proof. The original Note is a very aged device now, but very reliable. As reliable as the talent of the developers that exist on XDA. You only have a few choices.
Trust and be patient
Develop yourself
Buy another device.
Don't be so quick to throw the first option away. Sorry, I haven't looked at your stats, but I have been here a while with several devices. One thing I have learned, this device won't die.
Good things come to those who wait. They said the Note wouldn't get JB. They said it wouldn't run KK.

Was using a Note 3 for a while. Awesome device, but because of the locked bootloder and the fact that safestrap is no longer supported, I just went back to the Note. I'll settle for a slower device as long as I have the flexibility to customize it. I have a hard time understanding why OEMs force consumers into using their ROMs.
P.S. - It's Motorola

That's all fine and dandy, I just wish these mystery developers, could at least Identify themselves and make a note (no pun intended) that they do in fact have intention on porting 5.0 to the note, and are in fact at some stage of development (no eta required). I prefer to have this than to having someone, who isn't claiming to be one of these "undercover developers", tell me "yeah someone is probably working on it, and it's probably going to be out in February." for all I know you may be getting your information from talking to a horses butt hole (no flame intended). If you are bored, you can try building it yourself. Lots of tutorials out there, it's not rocket science.
My request to all of the Land users to read it fully and post their screenshots along with thanks note. Let's see how thankful we're to our developers.
It has been more than 1.5 years since our Big.little beast was introduced. Back then, it apparently redefined what a budget device could deliver. The performance, the battery life was just reliable and it has never let us down. The MIUI was good for the novice users for sure but we the power users needed custom ROMs to harness the true power of our Land. We struggled at first as Xiaomi simply didn't release the source code for the developers to build Custom ROMs. Better late than never. We finally got it released thanks to some serious efforts by some Land users.
Since then, it's been a dream journey. Xiaomi denied our land the Nougat update. But it got myriad of super cool Nougat ROMs thanks to awesome developers it got! Then, to our surprise, the Oreo builds began to get ported for Land. And after there enormous efforts, we are enjoying the best ever Android version say Oreo and getting tremendous battey life and absolute zero lag on our beast. Thanks to all of you developers.
Thanks to all others as well who have helped port many other kernels, MODs etc for our land.
Long live land. Hope we keep getting future android updates as well.
They have done it all for us by spending their valuable time without being paid. Mind you, time is more precious than money. So, what we users now got to do is to post the SS of our Lock Screen & Home Screen. And with every post say the line, "Thank you developers".
They simply deserve this for making us proud Land users. :good: :fingers-crossed:
