P20 Lite Single to Dual sim conversion - Huawei P20 Lite Questions & Answers

So I'm using the Huawei P20 Lite with build number ANE-LX1 8.0.0.147(C185) single sim on MTN South Africa.
Here is so many threads on how to change to Dual sim, but it's so confusing with all the different Countries and Different firmware. Being a Noob, but knowing how to flash and do basics, I would like to know in plain Noob language, which firmware I can use to make my phone a dual sim. I have read so many threads on different ways to do things with different firmware, and it is really confusing.
So the main Question here is, which Firmware can I use in South Africa for Dual Sim?
TIA

I also have a MTN Phone and I managed to flash bot the C185 version which is for Africa and the Euro one which is C432.
However for the life of me the second sim doesn't work, have tried numerous times now. I am also unable to flash it back to a single sim version too, which is annoying as each time I make a call a pop-up comes up saying I am using sim 1. which would be fine if Sim 2 actually worked. I also lost 5ghz wifi for some reason, so only 2,4 working now. So for now I would say stick it out with the single sim version or buy a dual sim from takealot.
you looking for this post.
You need to unlock bootloader with DC-unlocker , Huawei doesnt give the codes any longer.

Thanx. Just a quick question... You mention DC-unlocker but it doesn't support the P20 Lite, any suggestions?

yes it works with p20 lite.
just follow the steps via the program to find your phone.
you have to however pay to get the bootloader unlock code. I cant remember how much but its a couple of Buffalo's.

Also backup your OEM information first before you flash anything.
you will need this at a later stage.
Also when you have that info please could you send me a copy as I lost mine and need that information

Can I just double check... You own an L09 with a Single Sim Tray... and you want to buy a seperate Dual sim tray.. and flash a dual Sim firmware.... Is that right?
I dont think you can... Im sure the L09 has a Single Sim circuit on the Motherboard... and the L29 has a Dual Sim circuit on the Motherboard
You say you are New to Huawei phones, then I advise to Be very careful about Flashing firmware on Huawei devices, especially from different regions/areas... Huawei phones are NOT easy like a Samsung... the L29 is a different phone to the L09 .. and can break and fail very easily
You might have to sell/trade your L09 and Purchase an L29.
Just read this guide : https://forum.xda-developers.com/mate-10/how-to/guide-mate-10-flash-oreo-update-package-t3716814
and btw its possible to convert 1 sim to dual sim (BLA-L29),you have to ways. One is paid service which funkyhuawei and second one is the rebrand method on upper link.
and nope you must use PC,firmwarefinder cannot flash an update from different region.

So does that mean Every Mate 10 Pro, regardless of region, has a dual sim circuit on the motherboard.. and all thats different is the L09 SS Rom and the Single SIM tray thats included in the box?

Hello,
1st message on Xda ...
It is me who is doing this tutorial for frandroid as well as phonandroid.
I confirm that it works 100%.
On the other hand, the 137 is not compatible with the L09 ...
Take the 138 by funkyhuawei.

Thank you very much Mr.jeremy for your answer:good: do I have to pay for this update can I update this version BLA-L29 8.0.0.140(C432) because my version is BLA-L09 8.0.0.128 (C432) thanks
Hello,
Yes if you go through funkyhuawei it pays.
Otherwise wait what happens on firmware.
What is your goal in the end ??
Do you want the double sim?
If so, you have to rebrand the L29.
And only after you take the rom you want.

mine started life as a single sim c782 variant,
i changed mine to c432 variant by flashing a c432 dual sim oeminfo and flashing the relvant software and now have a fully working dual sim phone, accepting updates and works great.

Could you please share with more detail instruction about it ?
You need to flash a new oeminfo for the right region, I went for c432 dual SIM which is pretty much all you need to do to enable the second sim. Then you need to flash the correct firmware for that region. I then updated the firmware via firmware finder, but hrupdater it probably an easier way of doing it. And that was pretty much it. I used hwota8 to flash the correct oeminfo and the rest as described above.

Hi pls upload the oeminfo for the c432 dual sim .
Thanks in advance.
If you download hwota8 in the roms section, it's in that software. Just unzip it and you will see the oeminfo file. That's the one I used.

You have to flash oeminfo from dual sim and then flash full firmware.
Flash only firmware from dual sim your device stay a single sim.
I checked mine in the other way around, I flashed single sim firmware in my dual sim device and it stays a dual sim.
Can anyone post a step-by-step tutorial?

Be aware that the IMEI from second SIM will be null.
You can find the C432 dual SIM oeminfo in the HwOTA8 for Huawei P20 Lite https://forum.xda-developers.com/huawei-p20-lite/development/hwota8-huawei-p20-lite-t3787787

One SIM - 2G/3G/4G
The other SIM - only 2G
No, they don't work as Dual SIM active, they work as Dual Stand-by, when one SIM is making or receiving a call the other SIM would be ignored.
Hello,
i have p20lite single sim C432 Italian.
Can i transform in dual sim?
Hi,
I have a P20 lite from Orange orignaly ANE-LX1 8.0.0.149(C109).
Only one SIM is available.
So, in the objective to get dual SIM phone, I did :
1. Unlock BL
2. Flash dual sim oeminfo C432 using HWOTA
3. Flash ANE-LX1C432B172 (8.0.0.172) : update, update-data-full and ANE-L21_hw_eu
Result is :
- 2 IMEI, second is null
- Both SIM are detected and connected to the network
- Only first SIM can make/received call/SMS
- It works better when I switch data 3g/4g on second SIM - at least for few minutes I can call from both SIM
If I compare with my old P9 lite, fully fonctional dual sim, I see only one IMEI.
Well, any idea for next step? @kilroystyx @DANIELWHITT maybe?
Thanks.

Huawei mate 10 pro dual sim management

Hi everyone,,
Is there a way to show hidden dual sim setting ??
I have single sim bla-l09c432 but i rebranded mine to get dual sim working , and its working great
But there's no setting for dual sim management to switch network from sim 1 to sim 2 ,,
the only thing i can do is to make calls from sim 1 or sim 2
Can you help me to get that hidden setting .
Mine is still on bla-l09c432 ,, i didn't switch L29 to keep my bootloader code.
I have rebranded my m10p as well but i can see everything in the settings. Do you have this screen? Because you can do everything from here.
I didnt keep the model my one shows L29 after rebrand and its the only way to keep 2 sim settings.

You need to use fh to rebrand properly to L29 there is no harm at all i kept getting updates without a problem. I have started with version .132 or something and i am at .157 now and waiting pie update.

Here is my info
Thread is old and dead, but just in case someone stumbles across this this, i'd like to leave the following info:
huawei dualsimsettings are part of huawei my files app or somehow entangled with it. I tampered with it, that is why i had problems with dualsimsettings.
if you got dualsimsettings problems, check your "my files" app!

Hi Guys Im using a SM-G965N in the UK, when I try to register for the Pie Beta it give me the message "Your sim card doenst match the service provider software on your phone. This is common if you've changed service providers or if your phone and SIM card are from different country's" Im using the 3 network in the UK and the phone is LGu... Anyone have any work around..?
Anyone? I have exactly same problem. I got sm-g965n with LG Uplus carrier living in other country. Can i just flask stock firmware in my region to get rid of all the bloats and also is there a way for me to participate in pie beta? I can also swap this one with carrier unlocked SD845 version. Can i flash US stock on that one also?
Hi guys, I'm running into a similar issue with G965F device in Canada.
Here's what I've been able to piece together. Each device is a hardware variant and can use a specific set of firmware variants (sometimes called Multi-CSC). Your hardware variant is G965N. And if you look at sammobile for hardware variant, you can see the set of firmware available for this specific device. Unfortunately for you, there is ONLY Korean firmware for this hardware variant. For me, I have many more options but still no Canada!
It it completely inadvisable to flash the firmware onto your device that is not specifically tailored to your hardware. It's especially stupid when the firmware is tailored for an entirely different chipset (for example, Exynos firmware for Snapdragon hardware). But even if the devices use the same chipset, there may exist other hardware differences that will cause instability/errors/ bricks/unknown.
So as far as I can tell, we're all screwed. Have a nice day
Great news. I got into Pie Beta with my g965n. I was about to change my phone when i found LG Uplus sim card in my country. I put the sim card in and was able to register and download OTA. Now i am on android pie.

I found it almost by luck. I was at this phone store when i randomly asked from a lady selling smart phones whether she had Lg Uplus sim card or not and she said yeah i got few. You can have one. That is how i found one. I wouldn't be able to ship it outside country without reliable shipping service in my country.

Xiaomi Redmi note 4 second SIM slot disabled in firmware.

Hi all.
I own the above mentioned phone for some time now and I have a question for the forum.
The phone was purchased from Vodacom (Vodafone) in South Africa, their policy is to only sell single SIM devices.
So somehow the second SIM slot is disabled. What I want to know is if anybody has figured out how to reverse this and re-enable the SIM slot.
The phone is a Qualcomm variant and I came across a programme the other day on the MediaTek firmware website that can edit the IMEI number. My thought is that perhaps I could add the second IMEI to the phone which might make the firmware "see" the second SIM slot.
Does this sound feasible or even doable? Any advice is welcome.
I want someone more experienced than I am to give me some guidance before I try this so that I don't brick the phone and end up having to buy another one unnecessarily.
Thanks in advance.
Have you considered using MiFlash to flash an international version of MIUI to see if that gives you both sim slots?

No. I have only now learned of MiFlash thanks to you.
I will search for it.
Come to think of it though, the ROM is largely untampered with by Vodacom (unlike the Samsung's they sell), so I don't think that's how they did the dual SIM disablement.
My previous phone, which my son has now, is a Samsung Galaxy J5 Prime. Its also dual SIM device, and I upgraded the ROM on it in order to achieve the same result.
My belief is that it's kernel related and not firmware. What I need more insight into is how the SIM slots are detected in the firmware/kernel in order to be able to enable them.
