Does anyone know how to install an update downloaded from FirmwareFinder? - Honor View 10 ROMs, Kernels, Recoveries, & Other D

FirmwareFinder lists the beta 9 available for my BKL-L09C432, but as the update is not approved for my device I'm unable to install it, neither through VPN nor using in-app proxy . Does anyone know if it's possible to manually install the update?
Thanks.

Unpack your downloaded file on a computer.
If you see a dload folder :
Copy it to a clean micro-SD card
Power off your phone
Insert the micro-SD in your phone
Hold VOLUME UP, VOLUME DOWN, and POWER
When you see the Huawei/Honor logo, release the three buttons.
If everything went right, the phone should boot in reinstall mode and flash the ROM contained in the dload folder.
If, for some reason, your phone won't stay off and keeps rebooting, it can help to hold down VOLUME DOWN and quickly connect the phone to a computer with a USB cable while the phone is briefly off.
The phone should then boot in fastboot/rescue mode. From here, you may have more success of rebooting into reinstall mode.

Try to redownload the firmware, corrupted file can be the cause of update failure. Also be sure to safely remove the device before starting the update.
You know how to get into recovery to update the firmware? Hold down the volume down button while starting your device. After a while a white screen should appear with your recovery menu. When that happens let go of the volume down button. Navigate with volume down-up and power to select.

I have been able to do this on my wife's phone pretty easy and all I do it find a copy if CWM recovery (often called CWM all), a copy of update.zip, and the latest version if Odin. Use your factory USB cord and plug your phone into your PC. Let it install all the drivers. Once I stalled open your phone and mount the SD card so you can see it as a hard drive. Place the update.zip file on the SD card, but not in any folder. From there unhook your phone and power it down. Remove the battery and start Odin. Plug your USB part of the phone cord into the PC (don't connect it to the phone yet). Hold down the volume down button and power button while connecting the phone cord to the phone. You will see a yellow triangle and Droid on the screen. From there click the PDA button and find the CWM file you downloaded. Click start and let it do its thing. The phone will power down and you can then replace the battery and start your phone. I usually let my phone power up and then power it down again. After it is off you will then need to hold the volume up, volume down, and power button to boot into recovery. Once in Recovery you can choose the option to install update.zip. Let it do its thing and then reboot the phone. You should be good to go.

Hi Guys-
I'm having a problem with my Samsung Fascinate as well. Its currently running Gingerbread 2.3.5 build EH03. I had my phone flashed to MetroPCS a couple of days ago with Talk/Text only. Now I'm trying to root my phone using Odin. I want to install CyanogenMod, because I ran it on my old HTC Hero and was satisfied with it.
The problem is that my phone will not mount as a USB Storage. I'm using a Mac, however I have Parallels running Windows XP SP3. I have installed the Samsung drivers from the Samsung website and the drivers do show up in the device manager, but it still doesn't mount as a USB storage device in Windows. On the phone I receive the notification that its USB Connected - select to copy files to/from your computer. But, again nothing happens when I select it.
Whenever I plug my phone in the USB port Odin recognizes it, but when I put the phone into download mode it doesn't show up in Odin. I've also tried to see if it shows up using ADB from the Android SDK. Its not listed as a device when I run the command adb devices.
Is there anyway to root the phone if its not showing up in Odin when its download mode?

I think you can root the phone without having to flash CWM recovery, but it does require ADB so I don't know if that would be any help. FWIW, I have a mac too, and haven't had any luck using heimdall (it doesn't recognize the device), although I haven't tried any sort of VM or anything like crossover to use odin on it. I've just accepted using a windows machine when odin is required
Does your ADB work with other devices? For whatever reason, I couldn't get it working with the fascinate, then I tried it a few days ago and it worked all of a sudden. Another workaround is to use the wirelessADB app from the market. If you search for "galaxy s mac" you'll see that you're unfortunately definitely not alone in having connectivity issues with OSX.

very true...ADB is another option to root, but I never recomend it because most folks will have trouble using it....dont mean the in a condescending way, just sayin.
For sure, just thought I would throw it out there. Looks fairly simple actually from the guide nitsuj17 posted in the OP of the EH03 odin/heimdall package, well maybe straightforward would be a better word, just since it's laid out step-by-step.
I actually had problems using cwm... it failed to flash the su.zip properly. So I used the latest version of GeeWiz recovery on stock EH03. Worked fine. Roots every time. #hopethathelps

cant install roms
Hi, guys new to rooting and custom roms but ive hit a snag.
I have acheived root by using section 5 here (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1238070)
but i cannot install any roms all i get when i select the zip file is a screen that shows the unpacking then it goes to a triangle with an exclamation point. then reboots into normal android loosing everything i had installed. i made a backup using rom manager but it has dissapeared so now i have nothing to lose. can anyoone help.
all i want to be able to do is put ics with very few apps and overclock my cpu
Any help would be great
Samsung fascinate running android2.3.5 with superuser
thx
1. You don't need to be root first before flashing roms.
2. It sounds like you're possibly booting into the stock recovery.
If you want to flash ICS, just follow the steps in that section 3 of the guide you've already been using.
I tried but it failed on step 9/10
So you're saying that it fails after you press start in odin (flashing the stock EH03 package)? What error are you getting and when exactly is it happening?
If you're not on any rom and just on stock EH03, I'd think you should be able to just odin the CWM recovery and install ICS from there.
not sure what the exact message was but yes after i hit start it initalized did nothing for about 3 minutes of the five and got a fail message
And you're sure you're using the correct files and selecting the right things in odin? Make sure the stock EH03 rom is in the PDA section, the atlas 2.2 file for PIT, and repartition is checked. Could possibly be a bad download too, I'd maybe try redownloading the files and trying again. Also, are you using Odin 1.3 that was linked in the guide?
Alternatively, you could just try flashing the CWM4 fixed for CM7 in odin, then three-finger into recovery and flash ICS from there.
Oh and just making sure you're getting into download mode the right way, I personally pull the battery, that way it doesn't reboot after you flash whatever it is you're flashing. If none of that works, I'd try a different USB port/cable. Is odin recognizing the device properly?

[Q] Bricked E 435g.

I have an LG E435g. I tried to flash another version of stock firmware (V20a_00) using KDZ updater tool. It did flash, but my phone is f***d. The screen is totally black (no logo,etc.). My PC recognizes that it is connected, but I cannot load MTP driver for file transfers. It was in debug mode during flash, but isn't now because I can't use adb. Have tried everything in forums, nothing changes. I will pay ANYONE to fix as I am at wits end and know just enough to screw s**t up. Totally unable to get into download mode, emergency mode, etc. Phone is not rooted and the bootloader is locked.
No problem

Samsung 300K Tool Latest

This latest tool also allows you to boot your Samsung Smartphone and tablets into the download mode without pressing the physical keys. If in case your Samsung device physical keys are not working, then this latest Samsung tool is useful for all of you. The best thing about this tool is that it is not necessary to have the USB debugging active. The tool only detects your device and restarts it in download mode to do the flashing by ODIN.
How to use Samsung 300K Tool
This latest tool is useful for those users who have Samsung devices that do not enter download mode with the failure of keys.
After download file is complete simply Run for install.
Make sure that the Samsung drivers are installed
Before connecting the device open the program and the following screen instructions.
Now connect your device to the computer and make sure that the cable is properly or correctly connected, and the screen will change.
In this last step click on the figure of the image where the strain point and your cell phone connected or not enter the download mode quickly in 2 seconds, but I recommend doing the operation with the phone is connected.
Done.
Admin Edit: Attachment has been removed as it was flagged by Google as "uncommon download". Also locking thread.

The attached Samsung 300k file gives a CRC error when extracted. also its an exe and doesnt run on Windows 10. Is there an equivalent file that will allow my samsung galaxy T4 (sm-231 v4.4.2 Kitkat) to enter download mode? Its home key is not working right now. Using ADB i am able to enter Manual mode, but not Download mode! So ODIN does not recognize it ( ID:COM is not highlighted). I have installed the latest Samsung USB drivers.

When the phone is booted up normally and the way you would normally use it, when you connect your phone and open ODIN, does it still not pick up the phone on the COM port?
And (I'm sure you do), do you have USB debugging turned on and all the other usual things (like you mentioned, having installed the latest drivers)?

yes, i finally used "adb reboot download" to boot into download mode. Now when i am using ODIN and trying to root my cell by installing TWRP 3.2.1-0-degas.img.tar, it says PASS (success 1/fail 0), but my mobile still shows "DOWNLOADING..." with a horizontal blue line. I can also reboot and load normally, but it seems TWRP has not got installed and still ROOTCHECKER says my mobile is not rooted. Am i using the wrong versions of TWRP recovery or ODIN etc? Can you advice next steps?

When you've flashed TWRP, the phone will stay in download mode. Nothing will change on screen, that is normal. You have to reboot the device manually, using the button combination it says, then immediately as the device restarts, you change the combination to boot into TWRP. All of these steps are explained in whichever thread or wherever you found TWRP.
As far as rooting is concerned; TWRP doesn't inherently root the device. It just replaces the bootloader to allow you to flash custom packages, like the one needed to root the device.
If you're struggling to get the device rooted and there isn't a very specific reason why you need root, then my best recommendation would be to rather just leave it stock.
As far as I know, flashing TWRP won't trigger Knox, so you'll still have that functionality. Recently, it's become less and less necessary to have root and fewer apps require it, as well.
Like I said, unless there is a very specific reason, you'll likely be better off just leaving it the way it is.
EDIT: I'm realising now the original problem was that your home button wasn't working. In that case, it'll be difficult to get into TWRP, anyway. I also made some assumptions about Knox, because this is on the Note8 sub forum. I don't know if your device has Knox. And You're on a rather old version of Android also, so I understand why you may want to root, but without your home button working, it could become difficult to get into the places where you need to be to make that possible.

I need serious help with my Honor 10

I have a Honor 10 that was updated to emui 9.1. I saw that the phone had a android 10/emui 10 update available but it didn't show on the system updater, so I decided to change region and changed it to China and installed the Chinese version of emui rather than the global version. I don't have usb debugging on and when I go to Recover the phone I can't get the update package. Is there anyway that I can recover my Honor 10 or should I take it to a service center???

dload is a folder contained into the firmware's zip file. From this website https://androidhost.ru/ download the right firmware for your smartphone and make sure that it is the right one for your region (every region has a code, for example Europe is C432). Next, you have to unzip the firmware zip file, and then navigate into the "software" folder which contains the dload folder. Copy the dload folder into a usb pendrive (erase the pendrive before this step) and then plug in the pendrive into your smartphone through the otg. Let the usb pendrive connected to your smartphone and hold at the same time the power on+ volume up + volume down buttons until the smartphone enter into the download mode. Now it should begin the firmware installation, so wait until it finish and don't move the pendrive!. You can try this, but it's not sure it will fix your smartphone. I'm just a noob, and this is what I would try. Another way could be the board software if this won't work
