Hi everybody,
I'm new to xda.
Does anybody happen know what is the SOC on the 32PFS6402 Android TV? It says MediaTek MT5800 but I can't find out if it's A9...A53 or what. Any ideas how capable that TV would be for running Android games?

Forgive my inexperience as a non-Gen8 owner, but is it possible to port the Tether function from the Archos line to other devices? I have an Elocity A7 that is dying for some Blackberry-tethering, and Elocity seems to be much slower than Archos in terms of development effort. Heck, you guys even have the GPL. Any info is appreciated, thanks.

Hi i've seen the jetson tk1 a k1 processor development board, now i know it runs linux fine but i want it for android gaming. So i am wondering if anyone own one and/or can tell me should i buy it for the sole purpose of android os gaming,i am concerned of shelling out 200 pounds for a device i may never be able to run android os on.I can't help but think there's a catch like a lack of a chip or something potentialy hindering the chances of loading an android rom on it.I'm debating getting it next fortnights time if anyone thinks it can be and definately will be done i'm sold.

Yes, modifying the linux kernel for ubuntu to run android was quite easy, took less than an hour...
Rootfs was even easier, took 15 minutes....
booted first try...
But getting Cuda in android will have to wait for official Nvidia support.

Hi, im also interested in Android for Jetson TK1 (I already ordered one, I like Ubuntu very much but it doesnt have many games compatible with ARM). If I understood well, you have booted Android on it? You can post it maybe on Nvidia developer forums dedicated for jtk1 or make thread here on xda? Thanks

Hello, I am planning to buy an Android TV box soon, but I want to wait for the Amlogic S912 to come out, I plan to use it for 4k and think more graphical power can't hurt. I figure it will come with Android tv 6.0. Now here is where it gets tricky, I have read that sideloading was removed in Android 6.0.
If this is true, I haven't seen a whole lot of coverage on that, it's big news to me.
I'm wondering, if there is another way of doing the equivalent of sideloading on Android 6.0 and what are the pitfalls I should avoid when purchasing one of these boxes? I really want to be able to install stock android tv, I don't want the prepackaged software that comes with these cheap china boxes (my price range).
Is there a rule to follow for ensuring maximum compatibility with most of the android tv apps out of the box. I don't know if there's some cpu features that aren't included with certain chips, and if that's why the app compatibility issue happens. That'd just be my guess, but I don't know why there are app compatibility issues. This issue more than anything would really help in solving my dilemma.
If you are experienced in this I would really appreciate the advice. Search terms to look up would be very helpful.
Edit: I just found the Questions and Answers forum. Can a mod please move this there? Sorry for posting in the wrong section.
Hey guys!
So I am not new to the android community at all but i am new to the android tv community. I bought a Xiaomi Mibox 3 from my local walmart and it must be a different one than all the others people are posting about. (Model # MDZ-16-AB) This one supports 4k and HDR and also has Google Cast built in. It runs Android 6.0.1 as of right now.
So i wanted to know how to root it so i can add the playstation 3/4 controller to it, which needs root.
I want some more info as far as rooting and roming.
Will there be any thread to this device specifically (kinda like my nexus 6p)?
Thanks for any info
Did you try root with kingroot?

I don't think the prospects for rooting it are all that great right now. Apparently locked bootloader. The Mi controller is $30 and works well. So do, reportedly, xbox, controllers.
That said there is "some" discussion on rooting here:
