S9+ snapdragon question about kernels, root and bootloaders - Samsung Galaxy S9+ Questions & Answers

Hi
Thank you very much for entering this thread
Im very sorry for my broken english
I'm on a Sm-g9650 (s9+ snapdragon) im very happy with the device but i want to install Ainur audio mod.
As far as i know, if i root the device i won't be able to use the secure folder and samsung pay anymore so i was wondering if there is a way of installing that mod without having to root the device. If i instal a custom recovery or kernel but don't install Magisk, do i lose the samsung apps anyway?
Thank you very much in advance
Best regards

Anything you flash which is not signed by samsung will trip knox & you'll loose those features

Samsung Galaxy S4 GT-I9505 I9505XXUEMJ5 MOD/CUSTOM ROM

Hi I'm basically new to mods with android and I'd like to learn more about mods.
I don't care about the warranty since I got the phone as a bonus from my company.
I have flashed root my phone with SuperSU, but I'd like to use a custom ROM since Samsung's stock annoys me and won't perform as expected after it was rooted. I installed Omega Files Pro but cannot flash mods or even the ROM. I'm on JB 4.3 by the way so I hate all the things like bloatwares and Knox though I only have Knox 1.0 since I didn't update it since when you open Knox it will ask you to download updates and all.
Now I can't flash, I get errors like ERROR after flashing. I also get this knox void warranty 0x1. I read that it somehow affects the use of bootloaders but I am still unfamiliar with those stuffs. Hope I can get help to make my phone performing as expected. Mods cool stuffs better battery and ram/cpu utilization without too many lags and time to load stuffs. I prefer not to overclock though.
Just need help to spiff my phone at it's best without restrictions as Samsung inhibits me from doing what I want with my phone.
Thanks in advance.

Help me rooting my phone

Hi everyone ?.
So I have been thinking and I want to root my Galaxy Alpha, something that I have been thinking by a long time... But I know absolutely nothing about root because I had never rooted a device ?. I want to root my device because people say that the real Android experience comes with root, I want to install some other roms (I'm bored of the original one) and I want to change the emojis too ?. But I really need help, I have some questions... After I root my device is there a possibility of revert everything and put it in the original form? (You know, if it needs to go to guaranty) and what are the worst parts of being rooted? (Security problems and everything?)?. After that how do I root my device? I have the SM-G850F Alpha unlocked. I'm in the 5.0.2 Android version (need another data? Please tell) and how do I install roms? Thanks for everything

X820 - Newer Official Stock without root ?

Hi,
short question about my LeEco Le Max2 X820. Have bought the phone last year from tinydeals with Marshmellow stock rom 23s. They never released some security updates for this phone, no new android roms version. That's a shame because the phone has enough power to run the latest android versions.
maybe a stupid question but is it possible to flash a newer custom rom without rooting the phone ? I believe no in due to unlocking the bootloader. I don't like to root this phone because I want to play pokemon go without using magisk or any other root stealth programms.
Regards,
shredman
Heyyo, you don't need to root no, just unlock bootloader.
The only downside to this is of course no custom ROM will ever pass SafetyNet without using hacks like greenlight kernel to fake being SafetyNet certified.
Some ROMs do use this such as OmniROM Nougat, LineageOS Pro Oreo and I'm unsure which other ones do it...

Well, yes it's actually stupid question. Why do you want to root rom you are about to erase, why do even think about that? You only need to to unlock bootloader

Newbie question regarding recovery and Magisk

Hey guys,
I mangaged to install a custom ROM on my 9s Note (Curtana). Now I want to install the MIUI stock camera (48mp) module because the one which comes with the rom is quite poor on options. I have many confusions about the next steps and hope to find some help. I posted my questions on the thread of the ROM but unfortunatly did not get any response.
My questions are:
Is it correct that I need now to change the stock recovery to a custom one, for example TWRP in order to install custom addons?
Then I need to install Magisk which is used to install this custom ´addons´?
If this both are installed, will I be a SU automatically?
Will my banking apps still work or stuff like Spotify, WhatsApp? It does now on the custom rom which is amazing.
Is it possible to backup the original recovery partition? Then at any point in the future go back to it?
Can I install the stock MIUI ROM 11 or 12 with a custom recovery?
I would be so thankful if somebody could help me!
Cheers,
Cho
1) if you have installed a custom ROM, chances are you did it with a custom recovery.
2) some addons require root privileges, which can be had with magisk
3)yes, having magisk installed successfully means yiu will have rot privileges
4) banking apps, google own safety net checks and magisk are in a constant race of outpacing each other, magisk seems to be loosing now with tighter controls in newer android version. so dont expect your banking apps to work with magisk anymore.
5) it is probable on some devices with mature development not sure with this
6) not in its stock form, usually people build alternate builds of stock ROM that can be flashed with custom recoveries.

Galaxy S21 (Exynos) Rooting and custom ROMs

Last time I tried rooting was in 2016/2017 using Super SU but now many years later I want to try to root my phone again. I have Galaxy S21 ( Exynos ) and I was wondering what would be the easiest way that won't cause too much trouble.
What are the pros and cons of rooting a phone in 2021 and are there any dealbreakers like not being able to recieve system updates or banking apps not working at all.
I would also like to know if there are any android 10 based custom ROM's for Galaxy S21 currently?

In order to root you need to unlock your bootloader, which means no system updates. Most apps will still work if you install Magisk (SuperSU equivalent). There are not really any roms yet, but you can see that easily from the rom section of this forum:

Hi,
Since there's no custom ROM for this model, I wanted to try the GSI way.
I've installed TWRP on my S21 (o1s) following this procedure : https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...-for-galaxy-s21-exynos.4241869/#post-84592059
Then, I flashed /e/ OS from here : https://images.ecloud.global/dev/treble_arm64_bvN/
However, the phone keeps bootlooping after displaying "This phone is not running Samsung's official software. You may have problems with features or security, and you won't be able to install software updates."
I believe I'm missing a step in my installation (something about vbmeta maybe ?). Can anyone help me ? It's my first time dealing with recent Samsung phones (= post-Galaxy S9).
(I've also posted this question here : https://github.com/phhusson/treble_experimentations/issues/2006)
