Windows 10 pro not detecting when I connect my phone - Galaxy S6 Edge Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Every time I try to connect my phone in order to root it, there is no way windows detects it even after installing Samsung universal USB drivers. Is there some setting I have to enable in the phone? I have already enabled USB debugging still nothing. Please Help. I have tried so many different cords, and even really expensive cords, still nothing but charging only please help.

U have to open Developer Mode from ur setting : about phone, software information, n then touch the Build Number 7 times n ur Developer Mode will be opened.
Go back to setting, u will see Developer Option: n then swift "USB Debugging" on.
Now it will be done.

Galaxy s3 i9300 only charging via usb but not mounting

Bro's I have a galaxy s3 32gb gt i9300 with stock 4.1.2. When I connect the phone to my laptop via usb (laptop is also Samsung) I hear a beep sound on the cellphone and it begins to charge. However, I see no options and no usb connected 3 pin symbol in the panel of phone and nor is there any other option like mount cellphone etc. I do have latest version of Kies installed on my laptop but even that shows no device connected. Please help guys I have spent a bunch of hrs trying to figure out how to get it going but eventually had to register on this forum for help :silly:
Tried a different cable? Usb uses fewer pins to charge than to connect to a pc. Perhaps the cable is damaged (or usb socket).

Much thanks for the quick reply.... No I don't think the port or the usb is damaged. Further, I'm using the stock usb cable provided with the phone. Any other suggestions?

And yes tried different usb cable, plugged it to different pc's, manually downloaded drivers from Samsung but still the dawn thing doesn't work
Edit: just now tried connecting a different cellphone using s3's usb cable on the same usb port and that works fine. So I guess that confirms both the cable and the port are fine
By port, I meant the one on your s3...
Check its clear. If it is, factory reset. If its still a problem, send for repair

I'm sorry for my quick scan on the thread if I miss something.
Maybe you should try go into recovery and mount USB in there to see what happens or try download mode as well (in this case, with download mode you can see whether USB works or not, if it works then means maybe problem with ROM, so you don't have to send to repair because software issue is not really a issue here, and if it doesn't, then download flash won't start so won't affect on your warranty for flash counts )

I had this problem before with a new brand cable, i just solved the problem buyin a usn charger for Cielo cards.
amazing.
Solved
I tried everything possible....
uninstall drivers. reboot laptop. install drivers. reboot laptop. plug in phone. no sucess.
put phone in download mode and plugged in. no success.
tried on different laptop running Windows 8 and Windows XP. Still no success.
Then i read about this somewhere...
said uninstall drivers. reboot laptop. install drivers. reboot. make sure USB debugging is OFF. Plug in phone. Switch ON USB debugging. Laptop should now detect the phone. But that didnt happen either. No success again.
Also read....
Go to phone dialer.... dial *#7284# to access PhoneUtil > "Qualcomm USB Settings" > set it to "MTP + ADB" .... phone will reboot. Then connect via USB and everything will be ok.
Unfortunately....
dialing *#7284# to access PhoneUtil did not show me Qualcomm USB setting.
It gave me 2 options:
UART> Modem or PDA (here Modem was selected for me by default)
and
USB> Modem or PDA (here Modem was selected for me by default)
I left UART as Modem itself.... but changed USB to PDA. Then click "SAVE and RESET" button.
My phone then rebooted. Once my phone rebooted and i was on lock screen/home screen.... i connected the USB to my phone and voila... my laptop detected my phone as GT-i9300 and show both my SDcard and extCard :good:
Give it a shot and lemme know....
I have same problem. I tried 3 diferent usb cables, two original, 3 computers and nothing. I used MTP few days ago and now nothing in options, just cahrge. I tried factory reset, clean cache, usb debuging on/of, in download mode too... Reinstaled Kies and drivers. I cleaned usb but still nothing. I tried secret code but not have option ADB+MTP. Any help? Sory for my english

Does #*7284# give you the following:
------—-—-------------
UART
-Modem <--- selected by default
-PDA
USB
-modem
-PDA <--- selected by default
???
If under USB, modem is selected by default, then change and select PDA.
Leave UART value to remain as modem itself. No charge here
Or worse comes to worse...
While keeping phone connected to laptop, enable USB debugging and see what happens.

So at the moment your PhoneUtil settings are UART>Modem and USB>PDA right? Leave it at this setting.
Now with the phone connected to you computer... Go to device manager and Uninstall any Samsung drivers that u would see in Device Manager (Windows). If you see anything like adb drivers then also Uninstall. If you have any other phone drivers (Nexus, LG etc), Uninstall those as well. Also from Control Panel>Uninstall a Program, Uninstall any USB drivers programs that u would see in the list.
Once u are certain you have Uninstalled all phone & adb USB drivers. Also Uninstall Kies completely. You might also need to disable Windows auto driver installer. Reboot ur laptop / computer.
Once computer reboots... Google for Samsung USB drivers for mobile phone. The version I used was v1.5.27. You can try with any version. Some people have had the best luck with v1.4.60. Install the drivers and reboot the system again.
Switch off ur phone. And go to download mode.
Then connect ur phone to the computer via USB cable and see what happens? Look in Device Manager again and see what is showing. Also try using a USB 2.0 port for best results.
Once done... Unplug the phone... Get out of download mode.... (u can simply put the battery out of the phone)... Or long press the power button... Let the phone restart. Plug the phone again to the computer and see what happens?

Have the drivers installed on ur system before u are troubleshooting.

I'm facing same problem..
I have Korean version of S3 SHV-E210S..
Android version 4.1.2
Baseband version I9300ZCLK2
I've installed samsung usb driver, kies, and even adb driver installer..
But it doesn't help me at all..
Then i go to his thread, i tried to dial *#7284#, but nothing happen..
I've put it in download mode too..
And my pc can't detect my phone..
Please help me..
Sorry for my bad english..
Please read post # 12.
These are the only things I can suggest.
If all fails then your only option would be to download "Airdroid" from Play store.
It will not solve your issue but will let you transfer files to your phone at least

[Q] USB Debugging option is not listed in Developer Options

Hello,
I recently installed Cyanogenmod on my phone using the CM Installer. Now my phone is having issues connecting to the PC. I want to try and troubleshoot the problem by turning off ( or on???) USB Debugging.
I push the Build Number 7 times. It brings up Developer Options. I go there but USB Debugging is not listed as an option. Other options are there such as...
- Android debugging
- USB debugging notify
- ADB over network
... etc.etc.
Does anyone know what happened?
Kind Regards
Cheers

What version of cyanogenmod have you installed on your phone (I knows it's install version, but have you updated yet?) What does android debugging say?

New rom install now not getting "allow usb debugging always allow this computer "

New rom install now not getting "allow usb debugging always allow this computer "
Since updating to a new ROM which by the way is excellent thank you for your hard work its much appreciated , I cant connect to my usual android management suite ( mobilego) the "allow usb debugging always allow this computer "message doesn't come up when connecting the phone to the same PC ive always used anymore.
Developer options are on and allow usb debugging on phone just doesn't seem to show message on phone i can browse folders via PC manually
Any ideas appreciated have even tried removing drivers already, probably not ROM related anyhow just thought id ask might even be windows
Sorted now reloaded ROM and all seems okay...very weird

Redmi 3 black screen solution

Hello, i saw many people had the same problem with me and no one posted a solution.
This may work on other xiaomis also.
The solution is for working phone and touch screen but no display. Black screen.
First you will needed to install all the adb and drivers for your phone.
Then you will need mi pc suite.
Boot your phone and conect it to your pc
From suite you can see your screen.
( this is the hard one)
α) Go to Settings -- About Phone --> Touch 7 times on "MIUI version" to Enable Developer Options.
β) Now go to Settings - Additional Settings - Developer Options --> USB debugging. Enable USB Debugging and
Connect to PC.
If it will be asked then click always on this pc
Now again on your phone go to updater and click on the top right ( hidden menu)
and press go to recovery.
Make the wipe and reboot.
This worked for me, it was the only way to access the recovery.
Hope i helped.
If this will not work then try to flash the chinese developer rom through miflash and then do this moves again.

Usb debugging

Today I've noticed that usb debugging automatically switch off after closing the developer options page. I enable it and if I go back it switchs off. If I enable it with phone connected all is right but if I unconnect phone from pc it switchs off. There is no way to keep the options enabled. Any tip ?
Thanks
EDIT: if in developer options you reset all settings that usb debug remain enabled until reboot. But if you reboot it's disabled again...
This phone is incredibly mad.... Enabling usb debug with phone connected and rebooting via adb, unplugging cable during boot, the option remain enable if you DON'T open developer options screen. If you do it it disables again.
I don't have words......

You're great !!! All is ok now. Thanks a lot
I have Eedmi note 4 and my USB debugging(Security settings) keeps turning off when i come back from developer settings. My USB debugging is ON but below this there is another option called " USB debugging(Security settings)" which is used for simulating input via usb , and this option keeps turning off.
Is there an option to fix this issue, im on android 7.0 with miui 10.2.3.0 global stable ui.
