Hi XDA,
i just got my RN3 (SD) from banggood and i'm on MIUI Global 7.1 Stable (7.1.99.99 LHOCNCL).
I have problems with some apps and i think its cause there is no locale for my country (Austria) and i configured the clock manually.
So i'm looking for options and clearification:
- I can flash official roms (from here) right away, correct? (without unlocking bootloader, rooting, TWRPing etc...)
- I'm waiting for my official unlock code. Can i unlock with my current rom (7.1.99.99) and newer global official roms? (here it says yes but not sure)
- MIUI is neat, but i kinda miss CyanogenMod. As far as i can tell there are no custom Roms out there with working RIL, fingerprint and stable enough for a daily use? RR seems on a good way and Mokee looks even more promising. Any recommendations or other roms i should keep an eye on?
Thanks for your help, much appreciated!
Yes you can unlock any miui version, and i prefer the official way. Just like you are doing.
As for ROMS i prefer Xiaomi.eu but i dont know why I get in a bootloop after i reboot into the ROM. And if you dont use FP sensor you can use CyanogenMod 13 is the best ROM out there, and i read that a chinese version of CM 13 is working everything (yes FP too).
And if you want you can install AOSP ROM with android 5.1.1 and everything working.

- Flashing official ROMs should not be a problem when you haven't unlocked your bootloader yet (read up when you unlocked it because there's a chance that flashing an official ROM may lock it again). Heads up: Flashing official Chinese ROMs when you're on Global didn't work for me.
- I recommend waiting for official unlock as well. I know the thread you linked to says it's possible to unlock on Global Stable, but for me it only worked on Global Developer. Upgrading from Global Stable to Global Developer works like a charm.
- The new alpha of CM13 by Santhosh M has working RIL from what I know and is relatively stable, but still far from bug free. If you are not too set on Android 6.0 you can also look for CM12.1 based cROMs. The RR ROM you linked is based on Santhosh M's port and will have the same problems. This is true for almost all CM13 based ROMs posted on here so far. People reserve their spot to develop the customized version of CM13, but in reality it all depends on when Santhosh M has enough of a break through to release a stable version.
I haven't looked into Mokee ROM so far, so no comment there. Might work well, but you definitely need to have an unlocked bootloader and a custom Recovery (Cofface's TWRP worked well enough for me) to flash them.
Best of luck and let's hope we get a stable CM13 soon.
edit: Seems like Mokee ROM faces the same problems as Santhosh M's port. I recommend just checking his post for updates. It will probably be the first one to actually port Android 6.0 to RN3. At least that is what I am doing.
@funkymaster be aware that your kenzo was flashed with an unofficial rom by your vendor (7.1.99.99), so first of all you have to get an official rom on your phone. Search the forum or google for 7.1.99.99, you will find guides that will help you (even in german).
Thank you very much for your input! You already helped me a lot.
I'm just gonna document here what i'm doing - maybe it will help others too.
What i have done:
- installed Mi PC Suite (for Xiaomi ADB drivers)
- downloaded MiFlash tool and current global stable rom from here (kenzo_global_images_V7.3.2.0.LHOMIDD_20160419.0000.19_5.1_global_19339c1a10.tgz)
Status: locked Bootloader, no root, vendor miui rom
Goal (for now): official global rom
Next step:
- flash downloaded rom with MiFlash
any input, recommendations still much appreciated
EDIT/UPDATE:
after entering the download mode (see guide) i got "RELINK HS-USB [...]" driver instead of "QUALCOMM HS-USB [...]" in windows device manager. I had to update driver, choose from list and select the qualcomm driver. First it wouldnt work (windows warned me that it couldnt start the device), but i just did a reboot of my phone an re-entered download mode and the yellow warning symbol was gone (in windows device manager).
Then i just followed the guide and flashed MIUI 7.3.2.0 global stable. It worked
Hi everybody,
1. I have an officially unlocked Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 Pro device with a specific Global Developer MIUI ROM installed. Can anyone tell me how can I flash the device with a Global Stable Fastboot ROM without relocking the bootloader ?
2. In case I modify the Global Stable Fastboot ROM to exclude the MBN file (bootloader file), and then try to flash the modified Global Stable Fastboot ROM will I get a bootloop or a hardbrick ?
3. Also, is it possible to modify the Global Stable Fastboot ROM in a way to disable "dm-verity" by default before I flash the whole ROM, and have a Global Stable ROM that comes ready for root by default, and also that it does not initiate a storage encryption process on first boot, so I can increase the performance of my device, and battery life ?
4. Also, what about these settings in default.prop:
ro.adb.secure=0
ro.debuggable=1
persist.sys.usb.config=adb
ro.secureboot.devicelock=0 (Does this one disable bootloader relock after flashing a new MIUI ROM - Stable or Developer ?)
Can these also be applied to Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 Pro Global Stable ROM without any issues - bootloop, hardbrick etc. ?
5. How do I cook/make a Global Stable MIUI ROM for Redmi Note 3 Pro that has "Last Access Time Stamp" disabled on all partitions/file systems - noatime option on Android/Linux ?
6. What other internal Android tweaks/options are there in MIUI low level configuration files, that I could tweak in order to increase my battery life or disable certain device functions I am not using, such as disabling certain censors etc. ?
7. How do I modify the Global Stable MIUI ROM not to include certain system applications by default, so when I flash the modified ROM the apps are not there by default ?
I have tried to find the answers to these questions in MIUI forums but I was not able to get certain/definitive answers, so this is why I am posting here.
I would appreciate a highly technical in-depth feedback on these if possible.
Thank you very much everybody for your time and effort in advance.
Anybody have any answers to at least one of the questions I've posted above ??
Hey,
I have Xiaomi Mi 8 and I'm very concerned about MIUI latest "feature" - anti-rollback. I read this article, but I still don't understand completly how is anti-rollback gonna affect my phone.
Is it only MIUI thing or even with custom ROMs I won't be able to flash earlier version? Let's say I already have newest version of MIUI based on Android 9 so anti-rollback is present. Can I install, let's say LineageOS 15 which is Android 8.1? And can I switch between let's say LOS 15 and LOS 16 as much as I want? And... what if one day Android 9.1 is released and custom ROM is made, if I install it, does it mean I can't flash even the most recent version of MIUI until it would be based on 9.1 either? Cause it would detect that I had newer version and wouldn't let me flash it, right?
So the question is, I guess, does only MIUI check anti-rollback index before flashing or MIUI just activates this "feature" in my phone and then it's embeded somewhere deep and I'll never be able to go back again even with custom ROM? My thinking is... if MIUI version XY brings support for ARB it means, that earlier version, let's say XY - 1 doesn't have that support and therefore it can't check and know that it's earlier version, right? So that check has to be burnt into phone for good and it is gonna permanently affect my phone even without MIUI, possibly restrict flashing even for custom ROMs.
But I'm no expert, so I would like to know from someone who understands details of it.
Thanks!

Nice, only problem is getting Google contacts to sync after installing Google play services on China MIUI via the Google installer. Everything else works including the Google play store apart from contacts sync. Otherwise China Dev ROMs always have more cool features. Anyone able to share how to sync their Google contacts on China Dev MIUI ROMs

You are right...you can not flash it...if u flash china fastboot rom then try to update miui 12 it not happened because of it is chaina stable beta....
Limited usure can flash it...
So wait for stable update.....
But at the first time i able to run miui 12 on my device
i think, miui 11 EU rom (11.0.15) is the best miui rom ever for this device. . because, the latest miui 12 eu stable and beta ROMs are so much stuttery laggy broken animation. those latest roms are made with [email protected] /490 OpenGL driver..i think this driver is the reason for miui 12 laggy animations, recent apps panel scrolling stutter ,and some more hicups ,thus disturbing the 120Hz fluidity....and when i flash eu 11.0.15 rom, (it has [email protected] open GL driver) believe me, its buttery smooth as hell !! i will recommend every k30 4g user to use this rom for once. and PLEASE, SOMEONE TELL THE EU COMMUNITY THAT THIS LATEST OPENGL DRIVER IS RUINING MIUI12 EU rom EXPERIENCE FOR REDMI K30, i cannot login to my eu account, and they even dont let me reset my account/pass etc. the says my login activity looks like robotic ! hahaha.. feeling SAD for eu community.
Have you tried with MIUI 12.0.5 - Android 10?, I'm using it since Dec 2020 until now and found it works flawlessly, faster, moother than MIUI 11.0.15 and more features.
Im also sticking to MIUI 11.0.15 until the last build for MIUI 12 will be released.
Is this still true?
