Buying this phone soon what I should be wary of? - Xiaomi Poco F1 Questions & Answers

Hi everyone,
As title i'm planning to buy this phone soon (after seeing if oneplus 6t is worth it) and reading around i see there are few problems I should be wary of after buying one.
As for now I know some have touch latency issues and screen bleeding. There is something else i should note after getting mine so i don't have to return it when i already transfered all my stuff in it?
Thanks

Like another user said to a potential buyer like u, Don't read posts on forum.
On a more serious note, some phones do have unacceptable screen bleed and if u r one of those few unlucky ones be prepared to fight for replacement. Touch issue has been solved to a great extent in the new beta today. Latency might be there but doesn't bother in daily use and I can't comment really as i am not a gamer.

Lemme be of some assistance as I come from OnePlus 3t and was in a dilemma same as u. It's been 5 days now with the phone and all I can say is it is amazing. It has the best SOT, processor and has 4g+ coz of which my Jio Volte works blazingly fast. Camera maybe a bit downgrade from Onplus 6t but can take beautiful shots in daylight. Face unlock has ir so work in night time. I love the theming options on this phone. GCAM works without magisk. Gesture control is awesome and easy to learn although takes a bit of a time. And MIUI 10 in beta stage is good . Haven't tested all apps but Ola crashes and had to download Twitter alpha build from apkmirror. Attaching a pic which I took in AI Mode.

Thanks for the reply, i'm not really looking for reason to buy it since i'm already decided to but looking for what are the possible defect i can find so i can keep the one i receive or send it back before i start using it.

[Q] Thinking of buying a GT - Need candid assurance

I'm thinking of getting a GT and have done some research here and other sites. The more I read the more worried I'm becoming whether buying a GT is really a good idea.
My main concerns are the screen issues, newton rings, moisture under the screen, oil slicks, shaky or flickering screen, device not turning on or charging properly, etc.
As with all forums, it's always the problems that get highlighted so I'm finding it difficult to gauge how wide spread these problems are, i.e. do they only affect 1% of the GTs or is it more like 30%? Do Samsung acknowledge there is a screen problem?
I'd like some candid advice from owners whether they are completely happy with their GT and whether they would buy one again if they were buying now?
If it makes any difference I'd be buying the 16GB WiFi only model from the UK.
I am very happy with my wifi galaxy tab10.1. In my opinion this is the best tablet currently available in market.
And I would advice any of my friends to buy this only at this moment.
Regarding newton rings : its acknowledged by Samsung UK and is present in the FAQ system of their website

I really like my tab, and haven't really had any problems. However, I did get some moisture under the screen after I left it laying outside on a hot day, but I just stuck it in the freezer and it went away .
Now, the decision of whether to get a GT... The main downfall is no external sd card (although this may not bother you). It's very thin, light, and looks good (+), but doesn't have the ports (like hdmi or usb) that other HC tabs have now (-). And, it's a bit more expensive than say a transformer, so you should take that into account too. My best advice would be to go somewhere like bestbuy and test them all out, then buy one on Amazon (generally cheaper).
Thanks for the replies guys. I'm not too bothered about the lack of external connections as the tab will mainly be used for some web browsing and the odd e-mail. I do however want to root it.
I did also consider the Transformer but the newer serial numbers haven't been successfully rooted yet. TBH, if it was rooted I would probably go for the transformer as it's ~€100 cheaper than the GT and already has the HC3.2 upgrade.
I've had a play with both and liked both. I preferred the GT's physical aspects (size and weight) and am familiar with TW as I have a GS2 so it's my first choice.
My main issues are the screen problems. Would you say the problem exists in all GTs (i.e. design flaw) but only manifests themselves when exposed to higher temperatures or is it something that is affecting only a batch of devices (i.e. manufacturing flaw)? I know that's probably difficult to answer but I'd like to hear opinions none the less.

Thanks for the link. Well judging from that poll the problem seems to affect more than 50% of those that voted. It's not completely clear whether the problem has been fully resolved either. I've asked on that thread for people with screen replacements to say if the new screens have resolved the problem.
I would say i'm a basic user of my tab...i haven't rooted it as no idea how to go about doing that.
Overall for what I wanted it for, it's exceeded my expectations. I haven't encountered any issues with newton rings (touch wood) not lagging.
I have the 32gb wifi only version and I would suggest this is the optimum size. I feel the 16gb would be way too small.
Download dice player or another as this will play most files thrown at it. Also pay for the HDMI and USB adaptor to be able to watch on your TV or to transfer files. I've found this the easiest way to get files onto the tab rather than messing with Kies (don't go there) or using wifi explore options.
I wanted a tab for on the go, watching movies that i've downloaded without the need to convert (as with ipad). For this reason, it's a great tab, light and widescreen! Nice widgets and can customise the home screen. I'm sure I could get more use out of it, but I've come from apple products so new to android.
With the release of the TF2 coming nov 9th I'd definitely wait for that. If the Tegra 3 can run 1080p smoothly I'm making the switch over.
i have the 16gb metallic grey for 3 weeks now. I live in canada, i work as a real estate broker and am using the tab a lot, especially outside.
Here is fall season, temperatures are getting colder. I didnt have any problems with my screen. I really like my tab.
At first, i wanted to wait for TF2, but since they never said the exact date it would be release and that i was waiting since august, i bought the Galaxy 10.1 and i have nothing bad to say.
The only thing (as stated by others) the lack of sd/usb/hdmi slot turn me down a bit but u can fix that easy with thoses 2 : http://www.amazon.ca/Samsung-Galaxy...GY7Y/ref=sr_1_7?ie=UTF8&qid=1320212663&sr=8-7
and http://www.samsung.com/ca/consumer/...etail&subsubtype=others-multimedia&returnurl=
I'd wait if I was you. The GT10 is not perfect. Sometimes they have defects (gasp!). And then when you call customer service--they don't even speak the same language and they ask you questions! Can you imagine being asked questions! It's terrible! It's like they're saying "I hate your stupid face." when they ask you to "press the power button and tell me what happens." And performance? Well, it's good, but as soon as something new comes out it will totally suck. Like "wow, how did I ever use that" sucking. It will be abysmally bad! Everyone will laugh at you.
At some point, they will make a perfect piece of technology, then you won't need to ask because it will be perfect. Also, I think you should wait to breathe until the air is perfect. Hold your breath and I will tell you when it's time to breathe.

Oh wow that's very helpful and original.
I don't have 500 bucks to throw at a device that may have a design flaw nor the time to chase around getting it repaired because of persistent problems and so was trying to gauge the reliability of the device and extent of any problems.
You obviously have too much time if you can write all that dribble. If you don't like the topic don't read it.

Dude, there will always be something better coming out, if he wait for that "perfect" product, well he will never buy something.
I didnt want to spoil my money either. Here in canada, with a 3yr sim card data plan, i got a discount and my tab cost me 350$.
Before taking my decision, I've looked at almost all review on the web, went to stores and played with all the tabs.
At the end, it will be a personnal decision. Think about ur needs, no product is perfect, it might defect, thats why u get a warranty when u buy it. For me that was another reason not to buy online, just in case i need service on the tab.
Now for the reliability, since we live in differents parts of the world, i guess nobody can give you a 100% advice about it.
For my two cents, I love my Tab, think it is definitely with getting the 32 GB version, and was unlucky enough to have a problem with the charging connecter breaking. I bought it on Craigslist like-new, but didn't have a receipt. I called Samsung in the middle of the night (24 hour support), and was able to get everything taken care of. It took five minutes, at 1 am Pacific time, speaking to someone with an American accent. They sent me a return label, so I didn't pay a penny to get it repaired, even without proof of purchase. Got it back today, two weeks later. Impressive.
I've got to say, I work with a fair amount of tech support for my job as an audio engineer, and am always amazed with how much better support I get from dealing with companies like Allen & Heath through my work, because we have pro accounts with them all. Samsung was nearly on par with them. That's saying something if you ask me.

Bought the 3G 16 GB version and love it.
The USB adaptor was included free in the box.
This beauty is the next best thing after my wife and kid
16 GB is more than enough, as USB works fine, and if you need extra space there is always the GoFlex Satellite with 500 GB. I think buying 32 GB does not make any sense.
Got also the Logitech Tablet Keyboard for Android 3.0+ and together with the tab it's a killer combo
So if you are really interested in getting a tab, I would go all out for it
Ok, kinda stupid question, but here it goes:
I have played around with the black version of 10.1 16GB 3g version and the back plastic has a somewhat "rubbery feel". What I want to know is whether the white one has the same feeling or it is glossy and "shiny"... Well Iam ordering tomorrow and want to know please! Thanks!
I was going to make my own thread regarding the GT10.1 before buying one, but thought I would just post it in here:
My question is currently from what I know with stock you have to use Kies to transfer data/backup. With a custom ROM does still happen or can I just use it as a mass storage like all android phones?
I planned on getting a 32gb, but don't know if that is the smart choice. With all kinds of cloud and online storage is 32gb even needed? I know it has no expansion on the device itself.
Lastly, one of my reasons for getting a tablet is for reading all my ebooks and especially PDFs, how well do these look on the 10.1?

Since the source hasn't been released, the roms aren't exactly custom but modified stock ones. (Please correct me if I'm wrong). So they work with kies.

So, basically all the owners of a Galaxy Tab have to go the route of Kies to do any kind of data transfer(From PC). Fun.

Well, if indeed I am correct, yes. BUT you can also use dropbox or sent an email to the account that is linked to the tab containing the data. And there is always the option of buying the USB adaptor... Ok I admit that as far as connectivity is concerned, Samsung behaves like Apple but imo what sucks about Apple is not the hardware but the software.
Off topic:
Lets hope that Samsung delivers ICS as well, thus giving us Apple like support!

[Q] Still worth to buy?

Been waiting for the green 64GB and when it finally in stock. I dont know if I dare to buy it and hopes for a 100% functions free without problems. After read about all the problems with: scratches, auto rotate, pink, lines, bubbles etc... Considering get the flat S6 instead, but also alot of problems with it!
Since Green 64GB are only in stock at 1 operator with 200US rebate and the operator have only 48H DOA time and makes it impossible to exchange multiple times limit. If hardware defects out of the box, can call it in and make 1 time exhange, but after that time limits will expire and that makes me really hesitate to ordering it online.
Does anyone really got a fully functional S6 Edge without any hardware based problems at all? Software buggs, I can live with and wait for update to fix it. But hardware defects cant do anything about it.
So, order it now and hopes for the best? Or wait for new batches and hopes Samsung to sort all problems out?
Got the Gold Platinum one 64GB Made in Vietnam(09/04/15) and i have absolutely NO hardware defects it is perfect, I can't say much about the rotation issue as i decided to rather charge my device wirelessly for the time being until Samsung gives an official statement whether it is indeed the Fast charger causing the issue or not, but the other thing are perfect besides a software issue of aggressive RAM management which allegedly Samsung is busy working out a fix for it and I haven't been getting good battery life when my phone is idle but that's Google Play services, hopefully an update will fix this drain also

i don't know why you would really ask this question just because a few people have had these defects but there has been millions shipped to retailers and networks people only moan when they have defects what about the millions that haven't if you really have to ask that question you should just stick to the boring standard s6 and let us enjoy the better s6 edge

I dont see this as few peoples and more widespread globally. If u pay so much money and cant exchange until got one without defects. Im sure all want to know, what they are getting in before buy. Counting all multiple replcements units and peoples that doesnt visit forums. Im sure it just than few.
If I got same opportunity to exchange unitl get a fully working unit and wont bother to ask it here.

don't get me wrong it wasn't getting personal its just we see these threads pop up all the time most of my friends have the edge me also and not one of us had a defect people are to picky for the slightest thing i was just giving my opinion that's all half the stuff people notice dont notice it till some pops up on here and says oh i have this then that sends people in to melt down looking for the same problems the s6 edge is better than the standard in my opinion held them both and chose the edge
Dont understand all this hypes about premium quality. Was at store today and tested out the both. Maybe its just me, but I dont feel any premium quality about them, I like mine Note 2 is much more comfortable to hold on, both was flawless and no scratches, autorotate, pink whatever. But damn store didnt offer any exhange if the box is opened and didnt let me either open the box directly to inspect before buy. Gonna wait until June before decide, since a store offer 30 days exchanges, even used it.

Why is there barely any custom ROMs?

This is the first device that I've owned the has taken so long with not much sign or interest on the custom development side of things, not even much chatter about it.
Why is there such a lack of interest in the G5? Is it more complicated than other devices or have LG not released the source or something (I'm no developer at all, just a severe flashaholic and am having severe withdrawals since buying this device. Not a single ROM flashed in months lol).
Thanks guys

Beacuse LG locked all the bootloaders except h850 which is only for some parts of Europe ..Hope that lg will change their minds about this
Sent from my HTC 10 using Tapatalk
The H850 is not the only one with unlocked bootloader. H830 also has unlocked bootloader. Also, i wouldnt go making a lot of demands since moderators are watching. And "Beggers " get the worst out of them (with reason) (just suggesting). Also, since Im not a developer (yet), I decided to hold back and not buy the phone until there is at least 2 builds released. (if another phone dont catch my eye first, which it has already happened, S**t lol) but yeah, also patience is something you will have to endure. There is currently a handful of devs working on CM during their free time. As for now, people will have to use the "Fluence HD" patch if they want to flash something to mod their phones. In addition to that, there are some other developers that claims they have started to built their own roms and are currently testing them in their phones. But there are some files they still missing to compile. ( i have to find the post for each one again)
In conclusion.... yeah, you will definitely have to wait, and begging/requesting/or anything you do with the purpose to make it go faster won't help at all. After all, Developers also have a life, and they are doing this with their free time.
I'm not requesting anything St all, I was just curious as to what the issue was but now I know ☺ thanks for the detailed explanation.
I wasn't sure weather it was even worth while unlocking and putting custom ROMs on etc until it was all in motion but I might just dive in and try the Fluence HD.
Thanks again guys

I think i saw a couple of others in another threads but you get the ideas. Its not that there is not interest on building roms for the G5, but that there are missing things to copile. But it is better that they take their time building a rom than to release a heavily buggy/unstable rom that might hard brick your device for good. At least that's what i think. (even though i dont currently own the G5 lol)
yea i suppose that makes sense. nothing worse than getting stuck in a boot loop and your computer not even detecting the device lol.
I love the G5 and dont see where all the hate came from in the Q&A section, cant wait to get flashing this bad boy lol

Well, part of the issue has been the signifcant amount of deffective G5's that have been sold and return again. And misleading infos provided by LG itself. For the time being i will keep an eye on the G5, the moto z force when it comes out, and... If samsung galaxy s7 reduces the price and developers achieve cm, then i might keep an eye on that one too. There is nothing worst that college sucking up all your money leaving you with only one shot at buying a new smartphone. If it comes deffective , you are practically done lol

Im not aware of defective G5's. I mean, not more than any other new phone on the market. Remind you the S7 Edge also has this screen issue with thr purple vertical lines..it just gets less publicity because reviewers like Samsung. I also disagree with LG "misleading" info.. It is a metal phone with paint, still metal. I mean, the S7E's metal body is covered with sensitive glass and no one cares.

Yeah but they upon release they never specified that it had that coating on top of the metal. And that is not giving entire specifications about the phone. And with deffects (in this occasion) im referring to external defects. While screen might qualify as external, there are things even more external than the screen itself. Many have reported a huge gap between the modular part and the phone. Among other issues. But if you want to talk about internal issues, there is a vast amount of people who have reported their phones dying on them, or excessive overheating, or screen bleeding., and thats not only on XDA. XDA is just a small percent of the population on internet. The rest of the population matter. Yes, samsung have deffects but LG flagships have a history of deffects that goes way back up to even the G2. Dont get me wrong, im considering on buying the LG G5, but thats not my only option. I have also in mind the Moto Z force, and the galaxy s7. And hell, why not htc 10 too lol. But base on how LG is handling things (such as they havent released some of the modules for USA, and some modules having problems to work with the device and similar thing, it just made me think that i believe that LG released the G5 kind of earlier than they should have. I have a G3, a galaxy s4, and a galaxy s5, and had a G4, and i had to exchange the G4 3 times to fine a good one, and then even that one died on me. The G3 has proven to be a stable one, with some people reporting that the screen sometimes develop problems in the touch areas. But mine has remined faithful. Now the s4 and s5 i still have no issues with them, except the g5 with a little burn in image, but that was on me because i should have put the status bar hidden. Anyway, you get my point. The history speak by itself. It is just like the history of the oneplus devices. Which are now trying to make it better

There was never a huge gap on the G5. Some have small tiny gap which barely counts as a defect. I have a tiny gap on my phone and it's nonsense.
"huge" gap:
https://9to5google.files.wordpress.com/2016/03/unspecified.jpg
I agree about the LCD bleed, but you will only see it when turning the brightness to max and looking at a black screen in a dark room...which, for me, is..never. LCD's have that quite often.
Haven't seen dying G5's and I'm not aware of excessive overheating that wasn't caused by some app running in the background.
Not sure what was wrong with the G2, the best phone I ever owned. I had two and both still rocking perfect. Only got the G5 for the best camera.
I had issues with the G3 (I think of the G3 as the worst in the G2-G5..resolution was too high for the SOC, too much sharpening on the screen, resolution hit the battery life) but most were solves with software updates.
The G4 has that board problem, yep. I have a G4 at home and it's an amazing phone ..I guess I got one from a good batch. In any case LG replaces faulty G4's (at least in my country) for free.
I think you meant G4 and G5 at the end there.
So.. no.. I get what you're saying but I don't think it's true \ just.
Which G5 screen burn.. can you post a photo please so I can prevent it on mine?
Which Onelpus history though? My brother and mother both have Oneplus (1st one) and they are just great phones. I heard some issues with the Oneplus 2 ..I guess due to the OxygenOS change.
I do remember some issues with the touch sensitivity on the first Oneplus but they fixed it with software updates.
But really, you can go over to any phone's forum on XDA and you will find issues. Electronics have issues. People with no issues don't sign up and write threads about how everything is OK. You only read thread by users with problems. It's not LG exclusive.
If I were you, I would get the S7 Edge. Build aesthetics seems important to you and although the HTC 10 has awesome build, I can't find a reason to get it over the S7.

There cannot be a battle between opinions because in the end everybody will choose their own sides. All that i have said is based on experiences, and base of what i have read too, not only in XDA but digging around google which means thousands and thousands of different post on different websites, in addition to video in youtube, and more. So, let me skip the whole stuff to the last part of your last post, Aesthetics is not more important than functionality to me, which is why i'm strongly siding to Moto Z Force more than S7, HTC 10, LG G5 or even the Oneplus 3 (which have proven to be a good phone with some minor exceptions). After all, I always put a cover on my phone anyways, so, the so called "premium quality feeling" that people often are looking for, to me is useless since i use a cover. I use a phone to call, to use its functionality, not to rub its body against my skin to see how nice it feels every 5 seconds/minutes/hours in a given day. But i also like phones which try to be as limitless as possible. Which significantly reduces my list... Anyway, if we were going to argue about the matter it would take about 5 pages of XDA and we would probably still disagree with each other soo, lol I will just say that my experiences are not your experiences, and yours are not mines, therefore nothing that we say can be the "100% true" about each device we have ever touched before.
It will probably be a while yet before we get any usable CM roms, customised stock is great so far. We should get some soon though as I believe some devs like Xpirt are getting the device
Making a rom is not as easy as you might think . But otherwise, the phone is really good and the Stock Rom is perfect. Would like to root without unlocking the bootloader but you can not have everything
Well, i as Dev and ROM Cooker have to say that I'm really sad about the fact that there's almost no Development on the G5.
We have almost all needed source to compile a booting CM13 Build, but no one is creating a Thread for Public Testing. In my Eyes that would help alot...
Custom ROMs based on Stock are another Story. It looks like that no one is able to get a working Updater Script/Meta-inf.
Shouldn't be that hard for a skilled LG Device Dev to make one. But where are all the G2/3/4 Owners? Are they still on a old G Device? No interests on a G5? I dont know! But it's a really sad Story ...
I've found so much nice stuff in the H850 Firmware but some things need to be fixed and I've no clue how. So I can just hope that there comes soon some Development on this Device, which means more Developers and more success with creating ROMs and Modifications.
Fingers crossed! I love this Device and I don't want to sell i just of Lack of Development...

Same here. But right now I like the device with your Fluence HD and the Aosp mod. It runs very well!
Of course I am eagerly waiting for Alucard's kernel (loved his SGS4 kernels!) and AOSP or cm.
But patience is a virtue and I can wait.
Also, as the price of the g5 is dropping I hope that more developers get on board.
I would gladly contribute. Unfortunately, I'm on vzw.

Youtube is barely another small percentage of internet's population. Doing that would mean only to stick in one side out of millions. And arguing as in "argument " is exactly whwt we do on XDA. It doesnt necessary has to be bad argument. However, an argument is only worth it if you can feel that you have a chance to persuade or proof your point. But neither of us can do. To start looking for all thr comments, post, videos, blogs, etc..... It would be a suicide to do that. That, and that brains can only retain so much before it throws the information to a deeper part of the brain.

Just Purchased

So after months of debate I finally got round to purchasing my Oppo Find X. Sold my Note 9, although a great device, I'm a tech junkie and always looking to try the next. The X was always on my radar so I made my move.
In regards I'm not seeing any development, I'm guessing the bootloader is still unable to be unlocked? I will be getting the Chinese varient with Google apps installed (purchased from Wonda Mobile).
Any tips or reconditions ? I will be glad to hear of them and is Andromeda working? To get rid of the white?
Looking forward to delivery today of my new toy.....
Oh boy is the find X nice, the display is just superb, camera pop up is a joy, hopefully it lasts. The design is simply stunning :good:
Just wish twrp was available as the international rom would obviously be much better. Been a while now so not sure if it will ever come, but hopefully :good:
Adb allowed me to use Nova Launcher by default, which makes it more comfortable.
All in all a damn good purchase :good:
Glacier Blue looks niceeee.....:good:
I just ordered one as well to add to my vivo nex s. Im so ready to try it out. Unfortunately it is Chinese rom.

The Chinese Rom isn't great and colorOS as a whole really, my only gripe from the X as boy oh boy is it a beautiful device.
Now had they stuck something similar to Oxygen OS the phone would be complete.
Hopefully something will happen with fastboot, im on my 60 day wait to get in on the deep test, by then I suspect I won't be able to participate though
hey
i did the same from note 9
but i regret it doesnt look good for us as root and bootloader unlock doesnt seem promising
i have done all needed but when i query my application status in the depth test app it always says not submitted ?
real shame best looking phone but rubbish if you want to root it
I did the same then I went back to Note 9 within weeks.
Oppo find x is the most frustrating phone of 2018, so much potential but such a let down, mainly due to the software restrictions. Notification issues.
Could have been great but missed the basics of Samsung note 9. It actually made me appreciate Samsung phones more!
I feel exactly the same
If you feel good, then maybe you are using a global version.....

Question Genuine Question for the Pixel 6 diehards

With all of the problems that the Pixel 6 / 6Pro have encountered in its 6 month existence, how can you still say that this is a great phone??
Set aside the “mY pHoNe iS wOrKiNg FiNe” BS for just a minute, and acknowledge that there are thousands of others not as fortunate. Google has literally admitted that many are experiencing connectivity issues, and that they may fix it in the June update…. How is this acceptable to you, as a Pixel supporter?
The main purpose of a phone is communication, right? Connectivity issues prevents communication, right?
Let’s use a car comparison; a car’s main purpose is to drive, right?? What if Ford released a car 6 months ago, and for thousands of customers, this new car just…won’t drive sometimes? You can’t quite explain why; it turns on fine…but sometimes, it just won’t move. Ford said said that if you come by their shop in June, they should be able to figure out why it stops driving sometimes. In the meantime, just sit tight in your car…or take an uber if you need to get somewhere.
Ford would be facing bankruptcy and millions of lawsuits (from customers, and from dealerships) if this happened. So why does Google get a pass for essentially making a car that doesn’t drive all the time?
Google has made incredible phones. It’s okay to admit that this one time, they created a terrible phone that will be forgotten about when the 7 comes out.
It's just a phone, who cares if it's 'forgotten about', I don't fret over whether my taps are forgotten about or my towels are forgotten about (yes I'm typing this while taking a dump). Mine works fine, too bad if yours doesnt- return it. People shouldn't be trying to find deeper personal meaning in their possessions. Look up commodity fetishism.
My phone bought a week back has been working flawlessly, stable and force close free.
Perhaps the first batches of the phones are the ones that are giving issues.
Same goes for my previous phone the P2 XL I waiting to almost a year later to buy it and had zero issues with the device.
The P6 is a pleasure to use and I feel sorry for anyone that is encountering serious problems since I don't see any of the problems myself.
Definitely look into RMA or return the device within the time frame after purchasing.
The only downside is the fingerprint reader of course, I miss the one from my P2 XL.

Some really good reports coming out on A13 beta 2 FPR. I can't install a beta now but hopefully this will either roll out to us soon or give us a very stable beta 3 to install. I'm very disappointed with the FPR even though it works most of the time now. After a shower forget about it. However, on the positive side my hands are very supple now but my wife wants to know why I have moisturizer with me at all times.
Now let's get back to the OP and the comparison of a $40,000 automobile with a $600 phone. One can travel at 150 Km/hr and get you a misdemeanor in jail for doing that. The other will take a picture of you behind bars. One you can get into the backseat of and make love. The other you can take a selfie with... hmm. ok not a great comparison. Ok, here's one. A car can take you to a store to get a replacement but you can't take a phone to get you a new car. But then again there's Uber.. hmm.. Silliness aside, how can anyone compare an automobile to a phone and try to equivocate the two? Oh well, Saturday entertainment I guess.
i am not a diehard other then for android, most of the issues the pixel 6 has are from software and not hardware ( other then just lemon devices). its nice to have a lot of features, but how about google fix the issues your users have before you push new features and new systems?
it would be better if android had a two year cycle with less system changes. more fixes and more software plugins for OS features that users can choose or deny.
i have 3 google devices and the pixel 6 is the most buggy of the bunch and android 12 has been annoying from the start

You sir are a 100% right that it is a software issue that causes issues.
Not the Android OS, but the apks, mods, Roms, kernels, etc.
There seems to be a habit of people following social media and YouTube videos. And these people will come to XDA for help after they ruin their device.
It is not the Google fault if people do not stick to the basics.
xxxxxx Mod Edit: some content removed.
I find it funny that every year when Google releases a new device with a new Operating system. That people will complain it is the worst device ever.
And they will say in the same breath that the previous year was the best device ever.
If do not believe me, look at all past Google devices and see what was said.
The bottom line is when the Pixel 7 is released with Android 13. It will be the worst device ever and the Pixel 6 will be the best ever.
This all sounds like a cry for attention to me.
I goty first pixel 6 pro on 25th march got home charged it and did the set up from previous back up somehow the phone boot looped I couldn't fix it that was Saturday got a replacement device on the Tuesday as shop didn't have a replacement and I didn't take the paperwork.
Got replacement phone amdnib had no problems at all with it works as should
Let's face it though the fingerprint reader is a joke. It shares the same hardware as other devices that work flawlessly. Yes l know some people don't have issues bla bla bla don't waste your time posting that there are enough people that do.
But FP reader aside the biggest problem with the pixel 6 is android 12 is Garbage. Watching some of Google IO yet again there saying the pixel 7 has the best ever battery life sure they said that last year and the year before and the year before and the year before

You hit the nail in the head. 100%. Been like this since the early days of the Nexus program.
That said my P6 has been flawless. My wife's too. Same for a friend of ours who has one. Ditto for a guy at work.
The ones with problems always post the most.

Can't say I know my Pixel 6 well enough to love it, but I'm Ok with it. We won't do better for the price, IMO. The fingerprint sensor drives me bat**** when it really matters but most times it doesn't matter. Other than that my first Pixel is doing its job well enough. I chalk up any problems to the early adopter tax.
A separate thread has claims that Android 13 improved the fingerprint sensor so that's promising. Maybe A13 improves camera issues too.

My main reason for the Pixel 6, instead of the pro was the price.
Other manufacturers are at twice the price. Unless you go of the grid and get something like the Blu.
No matter what kind of device it is, a forum dedicated to that device will be filled with complaints, and it will appear that the device is unreliable, faulty, buggy etc. This has been the case for every phone I've owned, every fitness tracker I've owned, every computer I've owned, even a few cars I've owned. Few people will post just to let you know how great the device is.
My phone is, .....how did you put it..... '“mY pHoNe iS wOrKiNg FiNe”
My P6 is quick, lasts all day, doesn't crash, takes great pictures, does everything it's supposed to, and works pretty good as a phone too. No buyers remorse, no other phone I'd rather have.
That has not been my experience. Phone has been great. Sure it sounds like some people (and perhaps more than usual) have had issues, but that is true of any phone. Pixel 6 is most popular Pixel ever because it is good at a reasonable price point.

The fact that "my phone is working fine" is not "BS", it's a matter of fact. Discounting the "thousands of others" who have not had problems illustrates the flaw in your logic.

Apple just pushed iOS 15.5, what about all the bugs they fixed in that release? Microsoft just released updates for Windows. My Linux distro just got a hundred updates on my last apt get update | apt get upgrade. How is that acceptable to iPhone, Windows, or Linux users? Simple: Software, by its nature, has bugs. The developer of the software identifies and fixes the bugs, and releases patches. That's literally the software product life cycle.
If the phone doesn't work for you, get another one. Simple. But don't take the negative press as gospel. Media outlets make money from selling ads, but they need traffic to get that money... and to get that traffic they run sensational, polarizing headlines and articles. The more fantastic the claim, the better - for the media outlet.
Headlines like "Bugs affect less than 1% of users" or "90%+ of users haven't reported any problems" aren't going to get clicks, so they don't get written, and all you see are the negatively biased articles.
I used to be in the biz, I wrote oodles of tech articles, so I know first-hand what's going on. Don't get suckered into negativity.
@joelevi He already was suckered into negativity, as both his post and subsequent behavior demonstrate.
He was never interested in actual discussion. Responding to him at all will do nothing as he has closed his mind to all attempts to reason with him. The best we can do is what you did: poke holes in his logic and shake our heads sadly at him, letting him wallow in his ignorance. Meanwhile we enjoy our devices.
I've had my issues with the device for sure. But I came from an OP9 that was a "flagship" device that had NO OIS, constant issues with Android Auto connectivity, and was just a complete waste of $900 despite my love of Oxygen OS.
I'm on A13 Beta 2 and the fingerprint reader is MUCH more reliable, and about as fast as my GF's Samsung Galaxy 20 FE. Why they haven't rolled the FP fix out from A13 to A12 is ridiculous, I agree, but the Beta has been working exceptionally well for me.
All the other nitpicks I've had with the Pixel 6 came from the Launcher, and the lack of a weather app. I fixed those by installing Ruthless Launcher, and APKs for Oneplus Weather and Oneplus Widgets. That's the great thing about Android. It's customizable, and you can take it upon yourself to find things you like.
I just realized that there is a Pixel 7 thread already. The P7 is 6 month away and the complaints on the screen size has started in one thread. The specs have not been released yet for the P7.
Case and point... Lol...
It's their first try at the new Tensor chip, it is pretty normal to expect bugs since no other device in history was coded to work on a similar platform. Also, with May update i encounter only minor bugs which don't alter with the phone functionality, maybe i'm a particular case or just Google took action of those bugs.
What do you expect from a 600$ not chinese phone with top tier SoC, camera and build quality?
