Film protector. Glass protectors are just bad for curved screens. Fingerprint doesn't work with them either
Just arrived full cover tempered glass with working fingerprint scan sensor juchuuu
Here we go
https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https://www.ebay.co.uk/ulk/itm/113330949523
funny thing.
my fingerprint sensor doesn t work with the screen protection. i ve removed the stored fingerprint, but i ve been able to recreate one with the tempered glass.
funny enough, even it has been able to recreate the whole finger, it still doesn t work. any idea why?

I have a plastic screen protector on my mate20pro (not the wet installation one) and it covers my screen 100%.
I bought from ebay uk for £1.89.
Finger print work perfect, smudges come out pretty easy.

Yes, that's the one, only think the cut out was different (seller said the batch he has is a bit different than the photo) ,
For folks asking about a good tempered glass screen protector that works with the fingerprint scanner, I found the perfect one! I've registered 2 fingerprints and both work every time. It's a dome glass kinda thing where it comes with an adhesive glue and a UV light that cures the whole thing in a minute. And it's cheap as hell for $10.
I got it from Amazon : NI-SHEN Compatible Huawei Mate 20 Pro Screen Protector Tempered Glass,Screen Protector Compatible Mate 20 pro, 9H Hardness,No Bubbles,NO Scratch (Case Friendly) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07L5KFXVK/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_8VOlCbWTTKCHS

I am using the same tempered glass and I can confirm that its case friendly and works with UAG Plasma, Spigen Rugged Armor and Ringke Fusion X. Fingerprint sensor also works without any issues.
whell i had templed glass pan cover landed on the edge where is the buttons its cracked the protector and the glass of the phone too.
best glass is uv glass here link ask seller send case friendly glass: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/UV-...783.html?spm=a2g0s.9042311.0.0.13bf4c4dsoDldb
but its not cover the sensor / notch area...
regural full glass its good protection of the notch but dust colected inside the camera and sensors and caseses not fit need cut the sides..
and film only protect with scraches..
Tempered glass protectors in which you have to cure the glue using UV lights fits well on the edges. Had ordered one from aliexpress & got installed flawlessly. No problems with ringke fusion x case too.

since it uses glue, what if you cracked the protector? can you easily get it off the screen without any damage to the screen?

It's not very powerful adhesive glue, you can easily remove the screen protector even reapply it provided you have another bottle of glue. Check youtube, there are many videos on the same topic.

I am looking to buy this screen protector but the seller does not ship to France...is there an other supplier or is there any other brand based on the same principle of using glue and UV light? Are there any other curved glass screen protectors who work well with the finger print reader? Bought a Mate 20 pro used and the display has already multiple fine scratches not visible/disturbing during use but it still annoys me big time. I have the impression that the display on the mate 20 is less resistant against scratches, comparing with the Mate 9 - now sold - and my Mate 10 who never seen a screen protector, I have only used them with the OEM flipcovers.
I am currently using this TG and it fits well and is very case friendly. I've been changing cases from time to time between Fusion X, Rugged Armor and Liquid Crystal and never had any issues with the glass. No issue with the fingerprint scanner as well and the Oleophobic coating of this glass is great.

If the TG is not full glue adhesive-type the FPS won't really work because others aren't full adhesive and adhesives are only on the edges which means that the center area including the FPS area do not really touch the the screen of the Mate 20 Pro. As I have said mine works flawlessly since its a full glue adhesive-type glass protector. Please refrain from spreading misinformation here.
Using LENSUN Nano Flexible Self-Restore Full cover protective film
One one the best screen protectors the ultrasonic functional like without of the film. Is not the cheapest one but the quality is the highest one of all protectors which I have ever used.

I'm using the Alinsea glass screen protector too. I was worried at first as I've never installed one before with uv glue. Heard all the stories/reviews about the glue going everywhere but it was soo easy. I was quite proud of myself lol. Phone feels so good now compared to when I had the Newzerol tpu one installed which wasn't bad but glass feels so much better and screen looks better now too.

I am using one, a cheaper than the Spigen one. But it works great! Suprisingly good actually. Since I hate screen protectors cause I always get one dust particle underneath it.. It makes me take it off again. But with the tempered glass It fell exactly on place and without any dust underneath it..

im using glass-M tempered lass,it is okay i guess, works fine but kinda fingerprint magnet, lol
You can pick one up in the Verizon stores, I'm not sure of the hardness rating, I like the feel, it's rounded, does the job and looks good. It's about 25 bucks, can get them cheaper online but if you need one ASAP, pick one up in the verizon store, they'll install it as well so if they mess up have them do it again free of charge.
But out of all the reviews, the best one seems to be by iloome.
I use this one:

That one looks nice, I really like the MIME Feather Glass since it is only .15mm thick.
I'm using the Spiegen - the top of the line one.
It works great so far and fits the Spiegn Sim armour vieww case with no problem.
While I like a good deal too, I don't understand that we buy a VERY expensive Note 3 and then try and cut corners with the Glass and case.
I wish I could use one. On day one, I started with the Verizon tempered glass screen protector and I loved the feel of it, but over a few days time, the top right corner developed an odd sort of hazy "bubble" that wouldn't stay flattened out. I confirmed the screen protector wasn't touching the frame, so I figured it was just the "crappy" store brand screen protector. I decided to go ahead and get a MIME Ghost Glass to replace it, and over the next few days, the same story. Top right corner, bubble.
Upon closer inspection, my Note 3 has an (almost) imperceptible "bend" in the very top right corner of the screen. The only way I could tell was the way the light warps a tiny bit in the reflection of the glass in just that corner. The rigid nature of tempered glass coupled with this slight bend in the phone's glass causes the corner of the protector to lift ever so slightly off the screen, creating the ugly bubble.
The phone was bought new, has never been dropped, and is in perfect condition, it's simply a manufacturing "defect". So, it's back to the regular old screen protectors for me.

Hi y`all.
Prefer brando rounded edge.
Removed it though. thought it botched up my proximity sensor.
Turns out it dosn´t work properly even with screen protector removed.
got a new sensor. Haven´t installed it yet. fairly simple though.
You guys have trouble with the proximity sensor?

Couldn't see a thread on tempered glass screen protectors. What do people plan to use to protect their handset?
I used the Nillkin 9H+ protector for the Xperia Z2 and have had no issues with it. I can see they have one for the Z3 too, so I may well just order that one.
Anyone seen other options?
I'll be using a flip case to generally protect the phone, and will then rely on the Gorilla Glass 3 screen of the phone for it's scratch resistance, as I have done on my past two devices. My S4 (current) I've had since release and there is not a single mark on the display.
From my own experience, why bother putting a screen protector on when you don't need it?

Really - I'm looking at plenty of reviews/reports online which say that the Z3 and Z3 Compact have Gorilla Glass 3?
But there are also plenty of [more reputable] reviews which just don't mention GG3 or the spec of the screen (with regards to scratch resistance) too.
This is my first Sony for a while and I thought it was perfect for me, but this has just made me like it slightly less than I did 30 mins ago!! Oh well...
So, back to the question in the OP, suddenly I have a concern!!
I use the Mocolo Premium Tempered Glasspanel, which fits really well and easy to apply

Thank you.
So dropping it on the floor is OK, what about 'scratch resistance'? If you don't use a screen protector (as per this thread), are Xperia's prone to getting scratched in normal use (lifetime in someone's pocket, in a flip-case)?
So scratching really is the main issue? I saw knife tests on earlier models of Xperia and it looks pretty bad!!
Cheers - I'll keep an eye on this thread now.

That was true it was prone to scratches but not as bad as you may think, that is because of the shatter proof film they put on the screen. from what reports are saying is that that film is no longer on the screen of the Z3. But that is not confirmed yet.
There is a proof film protector applied on all Sony models. I own the Z3 and it's still there. Fow now, I'm just searching a way to protect my Z3. Or I must rely on Z2 official products?
there is no film on the z3!

Light and proximity sensors work just fine with tempered glass covering it.
woops. You are of course right with the light sensor, it is not affected by the protector. (I actually meant to write proximity ) The proximity sensor is a different animal. There a severa reports of it acting up after getting covered by a temepred glass protector.

they fit niceliy on both sides. On the back there is a tiny bit of overlap on the bottom, but probably due to my installtion. Front no overlap whatsoever. flush with the glass on all sides.
Absolutely perfectly flush on the sides on front and back - so definitely not identical to Z2 which is wider.

I already got a hairline scratch on the Nillkin. Makes me wonder whether this is one of the rare occasions where i managed to scratch it with a sand particle or whether the protector is actually not 9h
I'm looking for the best screen protector. Most important is functionality, so the least amount of stylus/touch sensitivity reduction.
I've tried the armorsuit military shield that uses liquid applicator and it causes too much friction and sensitivity reduction.
I'm now looking at the various generic film protectors and the 1 glass protectors linked below
intelliGLASS https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00TD9G9R2/ref=cm_sw_r_awd_WSgevb1JDHSXF
Glass protectors offer the best damage protection. I'm curious as to the performance with this shield.
Has anyone tried it?
I have, and the screen protector does not seem to affect stylus or touch functionality in any way

Glass is always incredible, and this one is no exception. Quality and packaging is great. I like the slight curves on the edges of the protector, makes it feel nice to the touch. I showed off my tablet to family to check it out, and until I told them it had a screen protector on, they couldn't tell what I'd added to it LOL.
I ordered the intelliARMOR intelliGLASS HD for mine. It's arrived however still waiting on my tablet to return from Nvidia (FedEx says Tuesday!) so it can try it on lol
Hoping it doesn't interfere with the case.

If you are referring to the magnetic folio cover then yes that's all I use with a vinyl wrap on the back to prevent scratches. There are no issues at all other than the screen protector getting dirty from the folio but the smudges wipe right off.

Coincidentally I RMA'd my Shield Tablet last Monday for a broken LCD beneath the glass. Crack occurred for no particular reason, I had never dropped it. All I recall is the night before it got quite hot. Don't think it's related to the battery issue but I'm convinced the heat of it had something to do with the crack. They accepted and my replacement was sent out yesterday due delivery Tuesday. I'm assuming it'll be a model with the unaffected battery else I'll have to RMA again...!

That's good to hear, mine was an advanced RMA so I had it in 2 days and sent the original back without any issues. My original one was almost non functional after downgrading from the original 3.0 back to 2.2.1 and no matter how many times I flashed the stock image or a different ROM it stuttered and froze. They suspected there might have been hardware damage from the OTA 3.0 somewhere in the CPU/GPU which doesn't make sense and they never gave me an answer on what was wrong. I'm still glad this one is working better, in fact I'm typing this reply on it.
Applied the IntelliGlass by IntelliArmor to my Shield today. Here's my impressions and mini-review.
The protector comes well packaged in a book style packaging. You get everything you'll need inside to make applying the protector a breeze. Includes:
- protector
- dust removal sheet
- alcohol wipe
- lint free cloth
- smudger
Simply cleaned the screen with the wipe, applied the dust removal sheet several times and then began peeling off the backing and lining up the glass protector. My first hit was slightly off, enough to irritate me anyway! So had to gently prise it off and re-seat it. Second hit was perfect. The bubbles smoothed out easily with my thumb pressure.
I've had IntelliArmor products before and as with all glass protection I've owned in the past, they are the ultimate screen protection and offer so much more then plastic ones. The best advantage for me though is that your finger feels like its on the actual screen as plastic protectors can give differing feeling under the finger.
I've been unlucky enough to drop my phone before onto a hard surface and if it were not protected by a glass screen protector, I'm confident the screen would have shattered. Instead the screen was fine below the shattered and chipped glass protector. So I've had first hand experience that glass protectors do the job. I've no reason to believe any different of this product, without me chucking my Shield on the floor - which I won't do for a review!
The glass is not too thick and plays nicely with the Official Nvidia case which is an added bonus as not all glass protectors play well with flip style cases. Fortunately this one does.
My only gripe at the moment is when swipe typing. It currently seems a bit hindered by the glass protector. However, I need more time with it as I'm not 100% convinced it has all to do with the protector.
If you're in the market for a Shield screen protector, then I highly recommend the IntelliGlass. Worth the extra £'s in my humble opinion.

Ah! Ok no problem.
No I've not experienced any dust gathering underneath the edges. It's a pretty good seal once it's on.

Thank you so much!
I wanted to create a thread to collect everyone's findings and opinions on what the best screen protector for the S8 is.
From what I have found there are:
- TPU dry application
- TPU wet application
- tempered glass glue only at sides
Post what you think the best protector is for feel, sensitivity and coverage. Also how compatable with cases and ease of application.
So far I've tried the amFilm from techmatte. Glue is viable around the sides and the touch sensitivity is reduced after insalll.
Master List - Tempered Glass
amFilm By Techmatte
Tempered glass, glue round the outside and top of the protector only. dot matrix on the screen for better sensitivity.
Glass feels nice but leaves loads of fingerprints and it is really reflective to light. Reduced sensitivity especially at the top. Works well with cases as its not quite full coverage.
Master List - TPU Films
yootech
Wet apply. Went on easy, works well with case no lifting. Feels nice.
Techgear ghostshield
Dry install. Kinda hard install as top part has separate protective film to the rest so it's hard to remove tbe main bit without getting dust under the protector. Sticks to the sides well. Clarity is bad, makes the phone look greasy /oily. Touch sensitivity is unaffected.
I bought these and it went on really easy, no bubbles and doesn't lift around the edge like a previous protector I used did when I put my Spigen Thin case on, feels ok to use too
https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B071R5P7QN/ref=pe_385721_37986871_TE_item
EDIT - This is the previous protector I used, I found it reasonable to apply but lifted around the edges when putting my case on

I have this one on my phone and my girlfriends ( both of us have the S8, not the plus).
I have a case on mine and it fits very well and doesn't interfere whatsoever.

This is another Korean company that maybe worth looking at:

How does it feel? Some reviews said it's too rubbery. I'm finding it so hard to find a protector I know I'll like

Forget yootech, it works well the first 1-2 days but then you have to repress on the borders every day because the TPU cover lift it, and now after 10 days some parts are not gluing anymore specially the bottom corners.
Feeling is plasticky and a bit sticky, not as good as ''dry'' films

Actually really like the feel. Doesn't feel too rubbery. It's not glass but it's quite smooth as long as you don't dig your nails in. I forget it's there a lot. Took me a while to apply and get it right but not had any edge lifting. I am using a case so that may help.

I can whole heartedly recommend these ones:
https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B06XY7K875/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
They are the film variety, but PET film, so no rubbery feel. These also benefit from being slightly curved at the edges (much like the TGSP's) so fit perfectly, with no lift. Have been using mine for 3 weeks now and its still firmly stuck on all edges, NO LIFTING!! And best of all, they work with cases too. Currently using it with a slim case, but it fits my Spiegen Neo Hybrid with no problems. And did I mention you get 3 in a pack. *drops the mic....walks off stage*
All jokes aside, these are a really good solution for screen protection with very few drawbacks.
P.S I do not work for this company nor is this recommendation being endorsed. Just passing on some invaluable knowledge to hopefully prevent someone else from buying almost every single variety of screen protector available.....not that I did that.....much.
honestly this screen protector thing is so long winded, and only for this phone as for all the others its been easy
there should be a section for uk screen protectors as we cant buy certain ones like the whitestonez version
finally got hold of this phone and cant decide what protector to get, has to be a good one as the screen is what it all is about

damn, lol max i would spend it probably £20.
there should be a vote on the best ones available and where from for country specific versions i think as its all to confusing if someone from usa posts a protector with really good reviews but we cant even get them
This is the screen you are all looking for. Im using it. Its awesome. Trust me i feel your pain.

I think it would be easier for us Moto X4 users to have a unified thread on available cases and screen protectors.
I recently bought the Moto X4 and my case and screen protector were just delivered.
I will post pics once I installed the plastic screen protector.
I'm still waiting for my iMAK Hydrogel Film for the front/back.
Will update you soon.

I got the same case, except in red. It fits very well, and is quite nice! It fits very well. I was afraid it'd be too rubbery but it holds its shape well, while still being flexible enough if I need to remove it.
As usual, it blocks some headphone jacks if they have a wide base, but that's expected.
Mine was $8 on Amazon. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0753CD8R7/
Yes it does fit well but too bulky for my liking. I bought mine for USD5 ?.
Anyway, I'll probably get another type of case. Here's the link on how it looks like

I'm still undecided which of the 3 to get. I want the transparent but will definitely turn yellow after sometime.

I went for the smooth case, skin type feel. Hope its not slippery and gives good grip!
i ordered these 3 things on ALIEXPRESS for supercheap prices,
waiting for them to arrive... (they usually are quite fast in deliveries with china registered airmail)
2 back covers, and 5 camera protectors (for the back camera they were so cheap i ordered 5 immediately)
https://imgur.com/a/E3R0O (click link to watch all 3 pictures)
i hope one of these backcovers will at least feel like it offers good protection for dropping on the corners.
good camera protection on the back (=creating much distance between the backcover and the camera so there is a few mm's in between,
so the camera no longer touches a surface when we lay the phone on the back)
i already have a just in case glass screenprotector, which offers smooth touch...
but it has some air beneath on both sides of the screen (i dont really care some much cause it's hardly visible when the screen is turned on).
It doesn't protect the front camera sadly enough, the touch responsitivity feels great though.
so despite all its flaws i still give a 7/10.
I added some oldschool screenprotector foil that I cut with scissors on the front camera that is not covered by the just in case screenglass.
Edit: This stuff has arrived now! I like the Imak case. It's anti skid & offers good camera protection. The other case (perfect brush texture with so called "anti slip" looks better but feels bad to hold in hand. It does not offer camera protection and is not anti slip at all!
I ordered the same brand but mine is the matte black sandy feel.
I also order the iMak hydrogel film (front and back) since I really hate normal screen protector and tempered glass.
Film protectors (a la clearcoat/zagg/ishield) are not visible and will cover most of the screen including the edges.
https://www.aliexpress.com/item/2pc...-c62b-43f8-8513-c4ff815bdfb1&rmStoreLevelAB=5
I don't have the camera lens protector though. :/ I'm considering that since Moto likes putting a coating on their camera lenses (which scratches in time) though you can remove them completely by rubbing gently with toothpaste/baking soda.
This happened to my old Moto Z.
Btw, the case I used has a good camera lens protection. It is actually raised a little bit so you can put your phone on a flat surface without worrying.
why do you hate glass, and whats so good about gel?
good glass has great touch responsitivity,
will feel just as slippery as normal glass (are there really people that like nongreasy unslippery touchscreen?),
and protects against breaking.
my current case raises the camera as well but not enough. the only ones that raise it significantly are probably those bulky book cases.
i'll probably have to raise it myself by using superglue and putting some pieces of rubber on the inside of the screenprotector.
Since most phones these days (including Moto) are using 2.5D glass, the edges are curved and tempered glass can't cover the edges. In my past Moto phones (or just any other phones), tempered glass manufacturers will either
- make a tempered glass with maximum coverage (with obvious halo effect/ tempered glass not sticking to the edges)
or
- tempered glass won't cover the edges and can't even cover the whole display (assuming the side bezels are slim).
The film will protect the whole display and looks invisible as if there is no protection whatsoever.
I'm not too worried about breakage coz I am using a case.
Update: I received the iMak hydrogel films for the front and back. I haven't installed them yet but I'm now disappointed. The films will cover more than the glass front and back!
I'll update again once I installed it on my phone.
Anyway, this is better than the plastic screen protector I'm using now.
pietpietersen: Just wondering where you purchased the screen protector that you already had?
And if anyone can provide links to tempered glass screen protectors that have hit their phones well, I would appreciate it. I keep reading reviews on Amazon saying that some of them dont fit right.
Double post! Sorry!

I got the TGSP, pictured below, for the wife's X4.
It does cover the entire screen, side to side and is really hard to get it centered, side to side, because it is virtually the same width as the display.
It's cut really close to the button, camera and sensors, which also makes it difficult to get good placement.
It had the best reviews, on amazon, by far.
I really hate curved edge phones!
Triple post! Wth?
So sorry! I don't know what happened!
marxela: i got mine at smartphoneshop.be (or. nl) so its not gonna be cheap to buy or have it shipped outside of belgium/netherlands.
pizza Pablo's looks easier to place than mine, cause mine had only a tiny microphone cutout. anyway, im happy mine feels smooth to touch/swype on.
Update: Do NOT buy the iMAK hydrogel film for Moto X4. It's useless. The front and back films do NOT fit the phone itself. It's like the cutout is for an enlarge version of Moto X4!
So I have no choice but to go naked on my front screen.

Have you applied the imak hydrogel film? How does it fit? I am planning to order the same.
Edit: Got the answer. I won't order it, thanks.
I did successfully install the hydrogel film. Even if it does fit, the quality is really poor. It's like a cheap version of IQ shield or Clear Coat. There are a lot of creases and very fingerprint magnet.
I went to mobile outfitters and have my front screen installed with matte film. Problem solved.
The protector from the gadgetshieldz covers the lens, screen and body of the moto x4. I have previously used their screen protector on my moto g4. But now for my x4, I got the skins.

If someone is looking to stay away from the scratches and doesn't want to show that something is been applied on the screen camera or body. They can go with this.
I am using Nillkin frosted case for Moto X4. It's perfect for those who hate bulky cases as I do. The fit is accurate, also it protects camera bump. Case quality is very good, no doubt it will last long.
Nillkin screen protector (clear) for Moto X4 was included in the box. I bought it from AliExpress for $4.59.
