Hi all,
Currently my S9+ is what I believe to be having battery issues. First it would turn off when the battery was at 5%, then 10% and now 15%.
Is there a way to prevent/reset this issue or is possible the battery failing and I need to contact Samsung support?
Thanks!

Sounds like something similar to what I had with my old Nexus 6p, does it happen more often when cold? Ended up having the battery replaced so I suggest taking it to the store.
They'll probably ask you to do a factory reset etc. first
Did you ever drop your S9 in water? Though it claims to be water-resistent, it's actually not! If your warranty is still effective, you should go for a fix.
Check full battery capacity. File is located here. /sys/class/power_supply/battery/fg_fullcapnom
Thanks for that, it's showing as 3077, so that's nearly 500ma gone if the S9+ has a battery value of 3500?
Exactly. Just RMA phone, they should replace the battery.

Hello
So my GS2's battery was seriously getting crappy, and I ordered a new original battery (more expensive, but I really wanted it to work properly). Before the replacement, it was all over the place, and I think I may very well have a phone that's seriously confused about its battery options.
Thing is, after the replacement the phone isn't charging the new battery properly (AFAICT). If I'd have to venture a guess, I'd say it charges it to 33% and then it states 100% full.
So, I get just a handful of hours of regular on-time with this new battery. Sometimes the phone hard-dies when saying about 50% remaining, other times it actually says something like 2% remaining, then dies, but still awfully far from logical, considering the fresh battery replacement.
I've searched for how to calibrate this thing, and most results simply recommend the "fully deplete, then fully charge, extract, reinsert, etc." method.
However, this does nothing to help me.
I read somewhere that for some custom ROMs (Dorimanx kernel?) you could do a more "explicit" recalibration, but I'm not sure if that'd work — as I'm on ParanoidAndroid ATM, and here I don't have such option.
So... Does anyone here know of any more "legitimate" way of recalibrating? I really don't want to buy a new phone, as these days I don't see any phone I really want to buy...
TIA,
Daniel
new batteries require a few charge discharge cycles before they reach max capacity, you may need to leave it on charge for longer than the "charged" info appears.

Thanks, Sparks, but I've already done this many times. I've had the battery for a couple of months now, but I really need to figure out how to calibrate the phone so that it starts behaving "normally" with my new battery...
Let it die, juice it up while it's off, take the batt for 90 sec when it hits 100% and put it back in?

No. The whole 'calibrate the battery thing' (and the apps that claim to do it) on the S2 is Kool Aid.
There is no need to calibrate the battery
sorry for my english

Something definitely needs calibration, and yes, of course it's not the battery itself when buying a fresh original battery does not fix one's battery problems, it must be some battery controller somewhere. I just started a new job, and my CEO has a Galaxy S3 which started having battery troubles. Like me, he replaced the battery, and like me, nothing changed.
In the meantime, my S2 died completely, so problem "solved" I kinda feel retarded for planning on buying a Note 3... Probably ought to run from Samsung devices altogether...
I've come from using the ipad air to the Z2 and over night the battery drains by over 50%.
See attached.
I didn't use the device at all and stamina mode was on. This is frustrating since the ipad can stay in standby for days without even 5% drain.[emoji15]
Anyone?

Well, for starters, not sure if the battery temperature chart you attached will help.
So you say it goes from 100% charge to 50% overnight? If so,you got some serious issues there. Typical loss is from 3-5%.
But 50 is absurd.
When you check the battery usage, what kind of usage is going on? Display of course is a biggie and uses the most. It's possible some application is keeping the tablet awake/display on. This might explain it a little.
I will explain how to read it. If the usage chart states "Display 54%", then it means of the 50% battery you lost, the display was responsible for 54% of "that" figure. That's how to properly read it.
But you need to find out where the drain is. I suspect a "rogue" app or a bad battery perhaps. A rogue app can certainly cause it, as with running some strange mods that just don't get along well. So you are going to have to hink back and remember what you changed just before you noticed the drain.
You can install an app called Better Battery Stats, and it might actually pinpoint what is causing the severe drain.
You have already installed GSAM Battery Monitor, so you should be able to find the cause for your battery drain.
Do you already have the Root Companion App installed, too? If not you probably should do so, this should provide better stats. Your tablet needs to be rooted, though.
After the drain appeared, open the GSAM-App and select ´App Usageˋ or so (my app is in German, so I donˋt know exactly). Then select ´Show Kernel Wakelocksˋ or so.
Now you should see how long your device was awake and what caused this.
Hi guys! Thanks for your help here.
I have found out now that the battery is definitely faulty as it went dead last night and I tried charging for 2 hours and it still won't turn on.
I am sending it back for a replacement.
Again thanks for your help

No problem. At least you know the cause. Personally I can't recall a bad battery on a new tablet, but I would think it's possible as many tabs as are sold. Sucks you got one though.
I've had a stock s4 battery for a while and recently its been draining pretty fast. I've changed roms many times but the end result is always still the same bad battery life. At this point, I'm wondering if my battery is just degraded. I drain 10 percent from 2 hours idle . Also, wakelock detector isn't detecting anything unusual.
Does anyone have experience with a degraded/bad battery? Besides a bad battery life, is there any other defining feature.

check to see if the battery is physically swollen; somewhat common problem for the s4. the swelling may only be slight, but if you're able to spin it on a flat surface, you should replace it.
Mine has been that bad since out of the box. Worst performing battery out of any Android I've ever owned. It's my only gripe about the phone except for the locked bootloader. Like you, I've tried virtually every ROM out there and its always the same issue. I was hoping a blacked out ROM would help but it hasn't really.
I ordered a zerolemon 3000 mah battery to replace the stock one. Hopefully this will fix any battery issues.

Interesting. Would you mind posting your experience back here once you try it out for a few days? I suspect you will need to calibrate it when you first install it too.

Yeah, I can definitely do that.
Hi guys,
I wanted to share with you my experience on my device, perhaps some other have the same problem and has solution.
Before I was using 2000mAh battery but it bloat out so I bought a new 1650mAh battery. The problem is that it just turned off when it reaches 40% without even prompting a low batt notification. I thought I bought a defective battery so I purchased a new one again, but it has the same problem. I was using custom roms btw and flashing CM11 nightlies every day or whenever update pops. Does it affects this or should I just recalibrate the device because my old 2000mAh.
Thanks for the help in advance.

Is this a genuine battery. You could try resetting battery stats or use dorimanx kernel to reset fuel guage.
Thanks for the help in advance.
Well the first battery i bought was just a class A, the second battery I just bought a while ago is genuine and its the same result. I will try to flash stock ROM and see if it still occurs, now I just tried calibrating the battery stats.

Don't they say resetting battery stats has only a placebo effect?
I'm having exactly the same problem. I bought two new original batteries and the problem persists. It just doesn't happen with my 2011 original battery.
Thank you
Well i read some articles that returning to stock rom should fix it well im still experimenting on the problem.

Did you check the battery voltage level just before 40%? If I understand correclty, my guess is that the battery should range from 4.1 to 3.3volts, as it has been specified as 3.7v.
In my case, it was around 3.6 volts when close to 40%, which seems to be a reasonable voltage for 40%. But then it suddenly drops to 3.2v (which I measured with a multimeter, since the phone goes dead at around 40%). I have started to beleive the battery is the problem.

Well sad im no electricity expert, so I dunno how would I measure it. Im considering returning the original batt i purchased, I will see if this still persist. Thanks

Battery voltage can be measured using apps like cpu-z and go to the battery section. Software readings are slightly less accurate than multimeter but does the job anyway. 3700mV = 3.7V (conversion of mV to V)
Hi good day!
Can someone explain me this low battery dump in the sysdump?
Thank you guys.
A dump is a file full of information about something. A "low battery dump" would be a dump of the system when the battery gets low. I can't see any reason for that, unless it's bad hardware causing the battery to be discharged too quickly - and then it probably wouldn't make sense to anyone but a technician.

So it is labeled as "scam" because i see some websites saying that turning on low battery dump fixes battery drain and slow charging, so is it true?
Thank you

from my knowledge at a techincal standpoint this does not make any sense, a dump is just a report file and has nothing to do with charging rates or battery drain
each mobile phone and its battery have a maximum charging rate, and exceeding it will not make it charge faster, only might damage the battery and reduce its capacity - fir example a slow charging mobile will not charge faster simply because you are using a fast charger with 10w or 15w, even less by just enabling a report file
and battery drain can be software or hardware and has many different causes, which you have to analize and root out on each mobile

I like this answer very much❤
How about i turned that on a while ago and i recently experienced battery drain after turning it and restarted my device, i decided to turn it off but i still feel the battery drain i felt after i turned it on. I noticed that android system was eating the battery the ehile day like 81% of battery consumed but before turning on low battery dump, android system only consumes about 26% of the battery
Any solutions i can do sir? Thank you.

well, in 9 months the battery should still be good, it might be defective and you could try to get it replaced in warranty
but it might also be due to your usage profile, and/or to the apps you are using
try rooting with magisk
