I enjoy listening to my podcast's all day long. However, my bluetooth disconnects without warning nor is it predictable. The bluetooth indicator is lit blue as if is connected. Also, in settings, there is no sign of it being disconnected. The only way to get my bluetooth to reconnect is to toggle my bluetooth off and then on again.
I tried to replicate the issue at the Best Buy where i bought the phone, but had no luck getting this to happen. Best Buy replaced the phone only to find out that i still have the same issue.
I typically use Dogcatcher for podcasts. Uninstalled it and started using Stitcher. Unfortunately still getting this issue. Even went as far as buying a different brand of stereo bluetooth headset.
Any one have any ideas?
Sorry, no idea. Try posting in the Motorola Owner's Forum and see if the Moto techs can shed some light on it.
Just for reference....I use a Blueant Q1 headset and Motorola S10HD headphones and no issues with disconnects, at least with music or audiobooks.
I was actually going to post something about this but haven't got around to it. Mine disconnects all the time, I have to shut off/on and then it will reconnect. It sucks. Also, when I put my phone in my pocket when I'm on my phone I get some very crappy sounds through my BT. I mean, its like 3 ft away max, through cloth, why would that matter? Is the BT radio on this phone really that bad? Anyone else having similar issues?
I remember this happening with my first phone but I thought it was my earpiece. I have upgraded my earpiece, still doing the same thing and has gotten worse lately. But the other thing is that I can walk pretty far away 30-40 feet before she disconnects, in my house around walls and such, so I don't get it.

I'm having the same bluetooth sound issues as you DJ, except I don't hafta have the phone in my pocket. If I put the phone to my other ear I can hear the caller thru the headset & it stutters in the bluetooth.

I'll give Moto techs a try. Otherwise, its too difficult to replicate the problem at the Sprint Store. All they do is wipe the phone and hand it back to me which is not acceptable. Especially when i explain to them that i have tried this with no improvement.
Thanks guys for your input.
This used to happen with my EVO as well so I wasn't shocked when it happens with the photon from time to time. What happens is that the media connection gets lost while the headset is still connected to the phone audio. I use a Jawbone ICON and ERA and it happens with both. I listen through my headsets all day every day so I'm pretty used to it. Usually if I un-pair and re-pair the headset it solves it for a while. Just make sure the headset says its connected to both phone and media audio.Hopefully it will be corrected through an update soon. I'm sure they have a long list of stuff to repair...
I have the same BT audio disconnects as others while I was listening to stream music, very frustrasting, I had the phone swapped due to other issue, but this still happened very randomly. Infact, as the other poster said above, BT audio disconnects also happened to my previous HTC phones(Diamond, EVO 4G & EVO 3D)as well.
im having same issue with blue parrot headset
glad to know I aint the only one with this problem, hopefully a fix is in the works
I have a Plantronics Voyager Pro+ and my Photon practically refuses to play my visual voicemails through it. When I attempt to play a voicemail, the scrub bar runs through it in like 1 second even though the voicemail may be 2 minutes long and no sound is heard through the BT. If I then disconnect and reconnect the BT, the message(s) will play properly for a short time. So most times, I either disconnect BT to play my messages through the speakerphone or earpiece or I dial into my voicemail with my BT. Overall, it is a frustrating situation. However, I guess things could be worse.
I have a similar issue with Bluetooth for HID devices (mouse / keyboard). I have the webtop hdmi hack in place. I haven't tested this with the latest ota yet.

I have a blue ant q2, and t1 with this issue, which also manifested itself in my EVO 4G
Disconnect from car handsfree
Looks like I have same issue,if I am in my car and talking over car bluetooth build-in system it will disconnect after some time, need to toggle bluetooth button on phone screen to send it back. I never had this problem with Epic4g before. I am in battery safe mode is it possible that after awile phone think that it can shutdown bluetooth. I am rooted but using battery mode without ant 3rd party app. Also can someone post link to related Motorola tech forum described above gor Photon 4G?

I agree with this statement for sure.
After doing some searching, I found this thread.. I'm having the same issue with a photon I picked up acouple of weeks ago. I'm running stock root. Is there a fix for this, or is a custom rom a way to fix it?
Thanks
Hi, I am also having same problem, bluetooth disconnects automatically so no file transfer and also when i use wired headfone to listen songs and when i put fone in my pants pockets, it stops the music and give me blutooth option for voice commands

Hey guys,
I am having serious BT streaming and Call Issues with my MoPho. When I connect it to my car's (Hyundai Genesis Coupe) BT, there are pauses when streaming music and when I make a call, the quality is not good. This never happened to me with my other phones (HTC Evo Shift and Nexus S 4g). Any suggestions? I am running stock rooted.
Julian
My guess is it's a combination of the phone and your car's BT.
I pair my Photon with my Kenwood KDC-X995 and call quality is excellent.
I can't comment on streaming audio as the deck doesn't support it (crazy i know considering it's Kenwood's flagship aftermarket single-din deck :-/ )
I disagree, I think the phone's bluetooth is severely messed up. I have a Plantronics m100, voyager and a Bose bluetooth. ALL of them do this: I can connect and start talking on the call, if I put the phone in my pocket cal quality goes from 10 to about a 4. Also, when talking on my bt (any of them) I can talk for about 5 minutes, 10 minutes, 1 minute, it is just random. It will completely disconnect although my bt light is still on on the phone, I hear them through the headset, then the phone just hangs up. If I catch it in time I can toggle the bluetooth button on the phone and they will be back. They are actually sending me another phone, but if it doesn't fix it I will just send it back.
I think this is on moto's end.

Can honestly say mine hasn't done any of this
I use the BT in my car stereo, a Jabra BT8040 and a Jabra Extreme headset.
Mine works great with my jaw bone icon for audio and media. Best connection ive ever had with a phone and the range is great I thought my headset was bad when I had my nexus, but it works great with this phone.

Your blue led lights up when on BT?
Hi all,
Since I got my S3, I've been connecting it to my car's built-in bluetooth headset for music and for phone calls, and it's been working flawlessly.
Anyway, about 2 weeks ago it started making weird noise when I'm trying to call someone. At first I thought it's a connection issue, I hang up and call again, and it works fine. But at the moment, it happens all of a sudden during phone calls.
The issue is that the phone itself is still working earpiece and mic even while the bluetooth headset is connected and the bluetooth headset green button is ON. Which creates an audio loop and makes all the static and noise.
I've read that people started getting this after the JB update, with me it happened so slowly, I'm not rooted to try ICS back again. However, I tried to diagnose by connecting my old XPERIA arc to the car and my GS3 to another bluetooth headset. Same problem with the other headset, while the arc and the car work perfectly together.
I also tried to disable NFC and even removed the NFC sticker from the car completely....still the same problem.
Any idea how to fix this, or even bring it up to samsung to try to fix in the next update?

I had a similar issue when connected to my friends bose. Ended up with noise coming through, it might just be bluetooth, can be a bit funny at times.
Car bluetooth audio feedback
Helo,
I'm trying to revive this thread... I have also problems with audio feedback from my original embedded bluetooth car kit.
have a Toyota Avensis and I get a terrible feedback noise when making out calls from my phone.
I tried playing with many settings, like noise reduction etc', but none helped.
All this started since I updated to Android 4.1.X (from 4.0.4). At 4.0.4 there is no problems at all.
I see that it takes a while to the phone to actually dial. From the time that I push the call button to the actual dialing, the microphone is active and is directly feeding the audio system, which results in this annoying audio feedback.
In my mind, the microphone should be muted till the call is made... but it is on. When I wear a BT earpiece, there is no problem since there is no audio feedback path from the mic to the earpiece. but when hooked with the CAR kit there is a direct audio path between the mic and loudspeaker.
I'm sure I'm not the only one suffering from this problem. please post here if you suffered such problems.
Please post if you managed to solve the problem.
I am currently running with the latest 4.1.2 update - same frustrating problem.
no solution for feedback noise....anywhere
It seems to be a mystery. I've checked a number of forum posts with this problem and absolutely no solution. I also suddenly began experiencing this problem in my car's hands free blutooth system. Sometimes it happens, other times not. I usually switch the phone to headset then back again to make it stop. But it's becoming more frequent and the headset switch seems to be lasting for a short perios before it starts again. I've seen posts mentioning grounding issues and others that say it's normal because of the car speakers (like putting a microphone close to a speaker). This is NOT normal. I have never experienced this with a hands free system and a phone. Also, the fact that I have been using this for some months with no problem. I did however notice that when I am not using the hands free and I put my s3 on speakerphone, it sometimes switches back to headset for no reason at all. If anyone has found a solution please post it because right now in the interverse...there is none. Will do the same if I don't crush this s3 for being so annoying while in the car first.

I've been going nuts with a similar problem and it started happening after the 4.1.2 update as well. When I make a call I sometimes get an ear shattering blast of static for about 1 or 2 seconds just before the call connects. My wife has the same problem and she uses her phone all the time and she's going deaf. We both have Moto's Razr Maxx. Verizon gave he a new phone, it worked phone for about 2 weeks and now it's having problems again. This really sucks and I think we need to buy new phones. If anyone has a solution I would sure like to hear it.
I'm having a strange issue on my S6 Edge that didn't exist on my previous phone (HTC M8).
I use a Moto 360 which naturally is paired over bluetooth, and also a wireless bluetooth headset. I found the audio would cut out anywhere between about 2 and 20 minutes when using the headset at the gym; however it would only 'disconnect' about 2 minutes later if left (it still registered as being connected until then and the music app would continue "playing"). Turning the headset off and on would fix it each time, and my Moto 360 would not have any disconnection issues.
I eventually worked out the issue is fixed if only the headset was paired with the phone (i.e., I unpaired the Moto 360 in the S6's bluetooth settings). The weird thing is though, that I do not take my Moto 360 to the gym, so only 1 bluetooth device was ever connected or even in range at the same time; it was simply the fact of having the Moto 360 remembered as paired but not connected that is making the phone cut audio to the headset and then disconnect 2 minutes later.
I've read of people experiencing the exact same thing on the S5 with 2 bluetooth devices paired, but haven't found a solution. I did not experience this issue at all the my M8, so I assume it must be an S6 or Samsung thing.
Anyone else having this problem?
I'm having the same issue with my Jaybird Bluebuds X. Audio will cut out and then bluetooth disconnect every couple minutes at the gym. Then I came home and played around with them and didn't have any issues. I'll have to do more testing at the gym to see what is making it cut out.
Do you have 2 devices listed as paired under Bluetooth?
For the record, my headset is a Plantronics Backbeat Fit, although I'm pretty sure that's not the issue since it works fine on my M8 under the exact same conditions.
Also confirmed again today - removing my Moto 360 from the bluetooth list stops the issue. Very annoying to have to go and re-add my watch every day after the gym though.
Yes, I have about 4 other devices that are paired. That must be the issue then. Really annoying though, because I'm not going to remove them every time I go to the gym. Ugh.
You guys ever figure this out? I'm having the same exact issue. Moto 360 and Jaybird BT headphones. The headphones cut out after several minutes, then a couple minutes later they disconnect. I connect them and it does the same thing over and over. This is if I have my Moto 360 on me, and weirdly enough if I leave it at home.
What solves it is if I "disconnect" the Moto 360 in the Android Wear app. This works if the Moto 360 is on me, or at home. I have no idea why, but it works flawlessly and I don't have to unpaid it. Now I'd love to not have to do that, what if I wanted to wear my Moto 360 and the headset at the same time? Would love to find a solution to this.
This phone has been giving me some odd issues and I'm worried I may just replace it before my 30 days are up. The keyboard presses on the edge are not responding, the bluetooth is causing issues, etc etc. GRRRR!
I had to return the Jaybird Bluebuds, they are just too expensive to be disconnecting this often. I am now using the Motorola Buds and haven't had any issues.
I found a bandaid fix yesterday - when the music disconnects, press the call / hang-up button on your earphones if they have one. The music immediately starts playing again as if nothing happened and there's no disconnect 2 minutes later.
It's annoying, but at least I don't have to mess with unpairing or disconnecting my Moto 360. It also leads me to believe the bug must be something to do with the phone incorrectly changing audio priorities as if it's gotten a call, which would explain why the play/pause button does nothing since phones won't let you resume playing music while in a call...until you "hang up" (pressing the hang-up button on my earphones).
Does that work for you guys?
My moto 360 keeps disconnecting for no reason eventhough the phone is very close to my watch. I am only using one Bluetooth device
Happening with my LG G4 with Jaybird X2 and Urbane watch paired. So this is an android wear issue I suppose and not S6edge specific problem.
It's really annoying =\
Yeah i just got the jaybirds x2's and im having the same issue. The audio will play for a min or so then they get fuzzy and cut out. If i hold the end call button they will come back for a few minutes then do it again. I really like the headphones but im not about to keep $180 buds when i cant even enjoy them.
If you just disconnect the watch in the wear app it resolves the issue. The reason it happens is the app polls for the watch every few seconds which interrupts other BT communication. The main issue I have is when a headset is connected voice commands don't work on the watch. It says disconnected even though it is.
Same problem here. Also Plantronics Backbeat Fit and a Moto 360. I'll try your suggestion of disconnecting the watch in the Wear app. However, i also like wearing the watch when running, since the Strava app tells me the distance and heartrate (for which i use a Scosche BT heartrate monitor).
Seems like returning the Backbeat Fit is use less since its not broken.

Same issue with jaybird x2 and strava app using Runtastic HR BT monitor. Jaybird disconnect after 2 min of playing the music. I dont know how to fix this, for the moment i just stop using my bt headsets will training. This is so bad since we spent so much money on this products
Could headphone users try something for me...when I'm hooked up and when I'm not playing anything the headphone symbol flickers and a sound almost like that of a heartbeat can be heard.
This is kind of annoying as i take 4 flights a week and use noise cancelling headphones...often times with nothing playing.
Is it just my phone...or have we all got that?
I'm on Nougat btw.

What model/brand? Could it be because of a specific headphone jack layout?
I've seen Sony's DNC headphones are ONLY compatible with their phones due a specific headphone jack layout their phone's are prepared for...
If sometimes they work, sometimes they don't, I'd factory format the device in case a user-installed app is triggering that behaviour.
I'm having exactly the same issue, I'm not sure whether it's a software issue or a loose connection in the headphone jack.
Its software...there's nowt wrong with my phone or headphones...tried different headphones also...they all did it. The fact that the issue disappears the moment u play something confirms it.
Annoyed the hell out of me flying home last night. Just gotta live with it I guess.
I had a issue with my headphones to but if I don't push the jack in all the way they work fine
