If you need any technical info from my phone, just ask in the comments
install twrp 3.2.3 and magisk 17.2 files to your pc and flash twrp to your phone using adb. After u flashed twrp to your phone enter it and flash magisk file from sd card or flash drive with otg cable. (your data might be deleted)

umm, eh, i didnt understand a word you were saying after "flash twrp"
I did this. Coming from miui 10.0.4
- Restart in fastboot mode.
- Flash TWRP
- Enter recovery. Flash magisk. Maybe here u will got a problem with data partition... ( I have it.. my solution was using orange fox).
- After this u got your device rooted... Restart in system. Install magisk APK.
If you have that problem with the data partition...
Here in the forum there is a lot of info about that.
After you flashed twrp from adb via "fastboot flash recovery twrp.img" command; hold volume up + power on/off button until you see the teamwin title from your phone. So you must be in twrp now.. Your data will be crypted because using twrp for the first time. Go to wipe - format data, write "yes" and confirm. Reboot recovery by going to ‘Reboot’ -> ‘Recovery’. go to the ‘Mount’ menu. press the ‘Enable MTP’ button. Transfer Magisk 17.2 to your phone's internal storage (check other posts for guide, you will use adb sideload) or you can just move your magisk file to your sd card or your flash drive(you will need otg cable to connect flash drive to phone) . Return to menu, go to install, press magisk.zip and then swipe to flash it. When the installation is complete, press the ‘Wipe Cache/Dalvik’ button. And that's it now just reboot your system

I'm stuck on Orange Fox for hours now. In twrp there is a chance for loosing my data, so I am using orange fox. After unlocking the bootloader I flashed the Orange Fox recovery and while performing a nandroid backup, it shows me a error saying "error on uevent". But the nandroid backup finished and so I carried on with the process. Now I wiped my data, system and dalvik and normal cache. I clicked on install and on the ROM(arrow) and swiped right. The installation after sometime of progress abruptly ends giving Error 7. So I thought of Restoring back my nandroid backup and it did complete but with an error 255. Can you help me?

PS: I hope you rebooted the recovery after doing all that wiping, and before doing anything else.

This is what I did:
1. Unlocked the bootloader (requested permission and used Mi Unlock app)
2. Installed the latest TWRP (twrp-3.1.1-0-mido.img), via:
adb reboot bootloaderfastboot flash recovery3. Booted into TWRP (Vol+ and power)
4. Flashed SuperSU v2.78
5. Wiped Cache/Delvik/System/Internal
Then wanted to copy RR.....mido...zip and gaps...zip to the phone's Internal Memory - but couldn't as after pressing CTRL-V it would just sit there. So I tried using a different windows machine and a linux box, but the problem was still the same.
I then thought I'll try a micro-SD card which I inserted, but when I wanted to mount it, TWRP wouldn't let me - the check box remained unchecked.
At that point I ran out of options and rebooted it. But now it's stuck at Mi, mi.com. Pressing Vol- & Power gets me to Fastboot - but I don't know what to do next.
Could someone please tell me what I can do next. And also what I did wrong - so others can learn from my mistake.
Many thanks
Tomasz.

Go to fastboot mode and Reflash twrp, next boot to twrp.
Once you're in twrp, wipe everything except internal storage /SD card then flash cm14.1 firmware, flash Rom & Gapps and reboot!
Links :-
*.cm14.1 firmware.zip
*.RR Rom
*.Gapps
And also, DL all those files and put em' all to your SD card, insert SD card then move on! Goodluck
Thanks

how to move towards fastboot by ADB?
I can move to twrp recovery by the command adb reboot recovery
worked for me also
Hi to all. I'm new in Honor world and I've stopped my Android experience with KitKat so I'm a little bit confused ...
I've read several guides (on XDA too) that that three steps to obtain root are unlock bootloader, flash TWRP via ADB and then install Magisk or SuperSU via TWRP. But in the thread on TWRP is clearly written that to install Magisk decryption is needed and to have decryption we must flash a kernel with encryption disabled in fstab. But no guide says anything about this step. Can someone explain me how encryption/decryption work doing a standard installation of TWRP ? Is needed a flash of a modified kernel ? And where find it ?
And another question (if it's not too much ). Since I don't need to install custom rom (I want root only to use some apps like Titanium) how can I make a backup of stock rom, boot.img, efs partition and all that can be useful to restore phone to the starting point if, by chance, I need Huawei warranty ?
Thanks a lot
Hi, apparently there's a way to get root on an encrypted system. Follow the rebrand guide and then flash supersu in TWRP via ADB sideload. It worked for me and a few others, there is no comment from the developers as of right now.
So basically in short follow this guide until you are finished with the TWRP section:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/honor-9/how-to/one-guide-recovery-os-roms-t3661829
Then
- enter twrp
- adb sideload supersu
Afterwards follow the "rooting!" section with point 2
Thank for your answer... I'd like to try to install Magisk instead of SuperSU. In several places is written that this should be right. I'll try....

Finally done with a couple of hours of panic. This is the story if can be useful to someone...
Unlock bootloader....done TWRP install... done. Copy magisk (apk and zip) on phone than install apk without opening it. Reboot to recovery wipe all, factory reset. Trying to boot.....BOOTLOOP But I don't have installed Magisk zip. Only apk without opening it.
Nothing to do. Bootloop and then erecovery. I try to restore the backups previously done with TWRP. I restore boot and system partition. All wipes ...no luck. I don't know what has happened. While downloading full firmware to try to reinstall it I try to install magisk.zip. Install via TWRP. All wipes and then magically (it's such a case ) phone boots. Powered off and on several times no problem. Root (verified with root checker) ok.
I habe b100 release but I don't think to update to b130. I wait for Oreo...
The only two things that I can say are these: first TWRP even after flashing magisk gave an error (unable to mount system). Two while installing magisk it seems that magisk itself has patched something.
If someone has an explanation is welcome...

Here what I have done:
Unlock bootloader
install adb drivers (find something that is right for your PC. For example minimal ADB found on XDA weren't suitable for me. Google adb drivers...). Open a command windows (shift+right click). If typing "adb devices" your phone is found that's ok
Enable usb debugging and oem unlock (or in other words disable FRP, factory reset protection)
Put the phone in fastboot mode ("adb reboot bootloader"). If all ok typing "fastboot devices" your phone is found
Type "fastboot oem unlock xxxxxxxx" (xxxxxxxx is the code provided by Huawey)
Bootloader unlocked
Flash TWRP
Download TWRP recovery for Honor 9 (link found on other thread on this forum)
Put the phone in fastboot mode
Type "fastboot flash recovery xxxxx.img" (where xxxx.img is the recovery downloaded)
Reboot phone directly in Recovery to avoid erecovery overwrite TWRP. Booting on TWRP let TWRP patch to avoid erecovery booting
Now here I've had some issues as said (read previous post). My tip is the following:
after rebooting in TWRP make all wipes then reboot again in TWRP
Install Magisk.zip (for me download here https://geekaxe.com/root-honor-9-twrp-bootloader-unlocking/)
Reboot recovery
All wipes
Reboot to system
If it's all OK you can install magisk.apk and you are rooted
I suggest after flashing TWRP to make backup of all partitions on external SD (for some reasons, maybe encryption, backup on internal storage gives error). Again I suggest to copy all files that you need (i.e. magisk files) on external sd before starting all.
Pay attention that if you update firmware after this procedure I think that you must repeat all. For me I remain on original firmware found on phone (B100). B130 seems to have some bugs, B120 doesn't seem improve much. Moreover all releases are 7.0 based. I wait for Oreo, hopefully in some custom rom!
To add to this, a bootloop or two might be normal. Let it sit for a few minutes before considering re-flashing everything.
Thanks for your guide!

Yes sure. As said previously installation of magisk.zip fixed the bootloop problem. I think (but I could be wrong) that installation of TWRP corrupted the boot partition and magisk fixed it. But it's only an hypothesis...

Which TWRP version did you use?
I had a similar problem after formatting all data with the OpenKirin TWRP 3.1.1 Perhaps its an issue with this TWRP release?
I was able to recover in similar circumstances by flashing a stock boot.img over fastboot. Based on this, it's looking like Magisk is really the way to go for rooting atm. Making sure to pull my twrp backup with adb this time though.
If I'm lucky enough to install magisk and not get a bootloop the safetynet always fails. Anyone got a valid method of actually getting magisk working fully?
Needed:
Unlocked Honor7x on emui 8 and twrp
I have tested this and found it working.
All you need to do is copy data/hw_init to your external sd
Then format data in twrp and flash the zip attached to this thread
Reboot
If it boots to system, then it's done
If it boots to erecovery and asks you to wipe data, then wipe data and boot to twrp
Make a data backup, format data, restore the back up you just made
Copy back hw_init from external sd to data
Reboot
Your device will be decrypted
more detailed instructions will follow

I did similar. I made almost same edits to fstab file in boot.img( removed verity, and "filencrypt") flashed modded boot.img and formatted /data. Phone boots normal, and twrp has full access to /data. But a side effect is developer options menu force closes when try to open it. Do you know why?

this is for emui 5 , android 7
It gave the trouble of crashing the settings app. so I did not continue using it.
USE AT YOUR OWN RISK.
copy the folder "/data/hw_init" before continuing.
Better way to apply this , instead of formatting in twrp, just factory reset in stock recovery. This way you do not wipe out the hw_init folder.
once done factory reset in stock recovery, plug in usb cable and select reboot from recovery screen. then hold volume down. Thais will reboot to fastboot.
Then "fastboot flash boot boot-decrypt.img"

sorry I realized my mistake and edited my post, I was looking for an emui 8 solution, I'll keep trying unless you have an edited ramdisk or kernel img, not sure which one does force encrypt. Edit: Honestly I'm not on EMUI 8 currently, I am in the process of flashing gsi treble and wanted to decrpyt while my data was wiped.
EDIT: Got it, fastboot -w and factory reset in stock recovery did the trick along with flashing the included zip file

How to backup data partition... please tell?
Hey guys,
So i was following this guide: "Poco F1 - How to Unlock Bootloader & Install TWRP Recovery (IN JUST 5 MINUTES) by Xtream Droid" on youtube (can't post links yet)
After having installed TWRP and booting into it through Fastboot I get a prompt to enter a password. I hit cancel and slide to allow modifications.
I go to WIPE->Format Data->type yes and I get an error saying something about phone being encrypted (3 red lines, same as in tutorial at 5:32).
After this the guy from the video goes to the pc and transfers the DisableForcedEncryption.zip file to the TWRP folder.
My problem right now is that i can't see it on my pc. How can I transfer the DisableForcedEncryption.zip at this point? (edit: just had plug the cable back again to access the TWRP folder)
Also when I try to reboot to recovery it goes straight to Mi Recovery instead of TWRP. Did I do something wrong?
Thank you in advance

Since your device is encrypted and twrp couldn't decrypt it, hence you can't access Internal memory while on twrp. You van either use an SD card to flash the disabler zip file or use the trwp that comes with working decryption. You won't be needing to flash the DFE zip file.
Bro just flash another twrp with decrypted SD card
Download this recovery
https://androidfilehost.com/?w=files&flid=283470
N flash this recovery u don't need to wipe
You can access your internal memory directly
I already try to erase everything from Orange Fox and also with TWRP, I am trying to install the MIUI EU ROM but when it is starting it throws me the problem of encryption
Next time, do not interrupt the encryption process, it will make DATA and INTERNAL STORAGE impossible to access. So you have to sacrifice your files in it.
Requrements:
TWRP Official (Don't use OrangeFox, might have some problems)
Flash TWRP via FASTBOOT
fastboot flash recovery [twrp name].img

Reboot to TWRP
Skip the Encrypted Data, even though you typed your password, it will never decrypt it.
Go to WIPE
FORMAT DATA
DO NOT REBOOT TO DEVICE, Reboot to Recovery
Go to WIPE
ADVANCE WIPE
Select "Internal Storage" then WIPE
Now, reboot the device
After booting, if you encountered that the devices says "Internal storage corrupted because of encryption yada yada"
Boot again to the recovery and go to Wipe, Advance Wipe. Select "DATA" and "INTERNAL STORAGE" then WIPE

When changing the file system, it will induce self-clean wipe (includes DATA and INTERNAL STORAGE) and no data including files will be remained.

Skip it. The only importance is to remove encryption and sacrifice all files in INTERNAL STORAGE and in DATA.

Hey guys I need some help..
I bought a new mi max3 which is on stock muiu 10
Here are my steps to flash globe rom
1. Unlock bootloader
2. Fastboot twrp to recovery
3. fastboot to boot twrp
4. Could not see any file in twrp
5. Reboot phone and return to stock recovery
6. (At this stage I don't get it why it back to stock recovery everytime. I wasted so much time searching and fastboot different version of twrp or moded twrp but still revert to stock after boot)
https://forum.xda-developers.com/mi-max-3/development/recovery-twrp-3-2-3-1-nitrogen-t3866084
7. Then I came across a thread on orange fox for max3
8. I tried and viola, I can browse the file now
9. Came across a thread about eu miui rom, it said to fastboot format user data first before flash eu rom, but not System
https://forum.xda-developers.com/mi-max-3/how-to/rom-xiaomi-eu-miui-10-mi-max-3-t3825680
10. I fastboot format user data, wipe data cache internal storage then flash globe rom, which is based on eu miui, remove cache again
11. I boot up the phone successfully but it shows "Encryption was interrupted and can't complete. As a result, the data on your phone is no longer accessible." only button available oñ screen is reset phone
12. But no response after clicking it
13. Then I came to this thread
14. Tried wipe Data and internal storage and still no luck
(At this stage I am able to go in orange fox and fast boot mode)
15. I haven't tried changing file system to F2FS yet as I am afraid that will brick my phone
Suggested by this thread and this
https://xiaomi.eu/community/threads...ted-and-cant-be-completed-after-reboot.45640/
Could you guys give me some advice?
Many thanks in advance please

Could you guys give me some advice?
Many thanks in advance please
