Is it possible to get the old functionality of the Gmail app back? I can't stand this new way of doing things.
I don't *want* "Primary", "Social", "Promotions", "Updates", etc. I want all of my messages together. All the time. As a default.
Provide the specific version.
Settings
You can turn them off in the settings of the gmail app. Go to settings, go to the account you're concerned about, and uncheck all categories.
Version is 4.5-694836.
I unchecked the options that tmoore73 suggested. Seems to work so far. Thanks.
Edit: the settings came back. Weird. So problem still exists.
On the "desktop version" of Gmail, I have those options unchecked in "Configure Inbox"...
All my contacts in Textra show as just numbers after the update. Tried various supposed solutions found online, like clearing data and allowing Google contacts to sync again... nope!
But for some reason if I go through each convo and one-by-one add the contact to my "Contacts", then it works, even though I'm adding the exact same number that is already listed in there. F***ing dumb. Anyone else got this issue? Any solution?

Had the same issue but this is what I did: Settings > Apps > three vertical dots > show system > contact storage > storage > clear data and clear cache. Restart phone, synchronise contacts again and you should be good to go!
Oh wow, this worked! Thank you!
Hi!
I use Calendar with DAVdroid (sysnces events with nextcloud), but I noted that there are missing notifications on my Mate 10 Pro.
Strange thing is that sometimes notification appears, but that's random and very rare.
I tried to look into Settings -> Battery -> Launch, but there's no Calendar application to manage.
As alternative, I tried to install several calendars from Play store, but for only Today Calendar gives me a notification (but I don't like the visual).
Anyone else with similar problem?
Did you look at notifications parameters - application - notifications ?
There is no "notifications parameters", but yes, I went to Settings - > Apps & notifications - > Notifications management - > Calendar and there all is allowed.
As I already wrote, strange thing is that sometimes notification appears, but that's random and very rare.

Is the battery settings switched on to "power saving mode" ?
No.
Neither "Power sawing mode" nor "Ultra power sawing mode".
Watch comment on DAVdroid app and it appears some people have sync problem...
Ask to dev maybe...
The problem is not in DAVdroid, as it does his syncing well (I see that because new or changed entries are immediately on my nextcloud web).
Notifications come from Calendar application (in rare cases when they appear), and to be sure, I just created some test event in Phone account (not synced to anything), same result.

In fact I use huawei's calendar app and it works great for me.
Few questions/checks, if you can:
1) What is your sw version of mobile phone?
2) Exact version of your Calendar app (Settings -> Apps & notifications -> Apps -> Calendar and there it states that mine is 8.0.0.300)?
3) Do you use some sync with cloud (CardDAV, Google, etc.)?
Thanks in advance

Hello,
Sw version is 127-C432 if it what you mean by sw version
Mine is 8.0.0.300 too
I m using Google sync only
Almost everything like mine.
I guess next step would be reinstall the Calendar app, but as it's system app I probably can't do it without root.
Phone reset is also not an option as I already installed lot of stuff which I don't want to reinstall again.
I guess I should wait until next sw release and temporary stuck with DigiCal, which works good for now.

Yes, probably with root only...
If you don't want to do a factory reset, you have to wait a new sw release for sure..
Did you try to wipe cache the phone or calendar app?
Just tried to clean cache of Calendar, first notification appeared, but second time still nothing.
Still, I think this is a good idea, later I'll try to clear data for Calendar and wrote if this will produce any progress.

Ok, let me know about progress then
Didn't help, clearing app data only removed settings for Calendar.
Well, I'm getting used to DigiCal+, for now it works as alternative.

Ok thanks for feedback.
Anyway DigiCal+ seems to be a good calendar !
Yep, it is
Only sad thing is that my previous phone (LG G5) has working and good calendar out of box, almost the same as DigiCal+, but I'll live with that
Hi all, I have an odd state of affair to deal with.
I want my Auto-sync off so there is no auto update of various apps without me knowing it.
So I turn it off manually under "Accounts & Sync" under General Settings.
But it keeps on turning itself back on without my doing anything. So it seems that some app is doing that. Is that the case?
If I look under "Accounts & Sync" , I see various Accounts listed. Are those the potential culprits as in they do require / request syncing? Unfortunately, I can't remove all of them, I see some message stating I need to reset the phone to remove some. What's with that?
Notably, I see "Alarm Clock" which I did not install and which may be part of the built-in Clock maybe. But I can't stop or disable the latter. Probably a built-in LG or Android app. How do I deal with that one?
Also, there are Google accounts showing. Could those be causing the autosync to turn on?
Oddly, this only started to happen in the last few weeks probably. Maybe a recent update?
So, any thoughts on how to ensure Auto sync is off?
TIA
added: This may not be the best forum to post this, I now see this post did no go in the Stylo forum as expected and I can't see how to move it. Sorry.
I just got my V60, having migrated from a V40. I used LG Switch to copy my files and settings over and by and large it worked well.
I had a number of apps that no longer had specific notification sounds on the V60. All used the "default" sound. Those apps are Ebay, Facebook, FB Messenger, and Snapchat. I was able to get the app specific sounds to work on Messenger, Ebay, and Snapchat by uninstalling and reinstalling.
Facebook however won't play the Facebook ding, it still uses the default sound. I have tried changing the sound settings under Settings menu, but I can't select the Facebook ding, only the sounds preinstalled on the phone, or the "default" sound. Now, if I go to the Facebook app and go under push notification settings, I can select the ding sound and all is well, however the system notification settings trumps the app notification settings.
I cannot uninstall Facebook, as I have an ATT V60, and Facebook is part of the system bloatware. I can only disable it. I have disabled, reenabled, reupdated, and have had no change. What am I doing wrong? What is the correct solution?
