I used to be able in all previous phones and Android versions to set designated sound to Gmail in general and even to different labels withing Gmail.
Its Gone.
One notification to all messages accept whatsup.
Any way around this? Specify a designated sound for Gmail notifications?
Android 8.1.0 Miui Global 10.0
Did u find any solution?
I can see that on version 10.1.3.0 it's still impossible to configure custom Gmail notification sound.
How can it be informed to the dev team?

I'm having issues with a widget I use (SMS Unread count) to give me an unread gmail count with the latest gmail update.
Anyone else seeing the same problem with same/similar widget?
Anyone know of a widget that works with the latest update?
Thanks
I have the same problem and I think this is attributable to google/gmail itself.
The API that widgets (like SMS-Unread-Count, ADW Launcher, LaucherPro, etc ... ) use to access your Gmail messages (for the Gmail widgets and the Gmail dock notifications, etc ...) was removed in the current version of the Gmail app for Android 2.2 and higher.
See here for example: http://www.launcherpro.com/2011/07/09/upcoming-changes-to-gmail-app/
I might be wrong ... but you may have to wait for widget devs to fix this or for google to release a new interface for app devs to work with.
In the meantime most stock apps (I know they tend to be hideous) should work.
ONE MORE THING ....
If you are really desperate for an unread count and feel like playing around a bit you should get the Tasker app from the market. It has built in support for the K9mail app and allows you to create your own counters and widgets based on K9mail's state. You can still use your gmail app as usual but will need K9email running in the background (just turn off all of K9mails notification and popups ... all you need is Tasker to interpret the state). The cool thing is you can create much prettier counters than say SMS-Unread-Count. Moreover the Tasker app is a very useful tool to have beyond creating pretty counters.
I haven't tested this but this approach should still work. Let us know if not.
A good place to get you up to speed and help you set it up can be found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=944981/
I'm a Newbie on Android/Custom ROMs and after testing is over I would like to use a CustomROM (CM, crdroid, etc.) together with DAVdroid to sync my contacts with ownCloud. Just from the moment when I received my second cell phone (Siemens) decades ago I loved the feature to assign custom ringtones to groups of contacts.
I really miss this type of feature on Android and it seems neither stock nor CustomROMs include this. I found one 2011 app here (WhoIsIt Lite) that seems abandoned and incompatible with KitKat. In Google Play I did find one app: Group Ringtones, which does the basic job, by writing the selected ringtone for all group members. But when a new group member gets created after, he does not receive the group ringtone as long as the process is not repeated afaik.
Is there any such group ringtone function integrated in a CustomROM or a more comprehensive app (custom notifications etc., ringtones/profiles connected to calendar events)?

Hi guys I've exactly the dame question ... I'm using group ringtones right now buy I'm noto satisfied too. Any idea?
I have a Huawei Mate 8 running EMUI 5.0 without root (no root developed yet), which is a Nougat-based skin, but I would guess my question is broadly applicable.
I use Android Auto via my in-dash system (rather than standalone). Android Auto, as many know, locks you out of your phone, presumably for safety reasons. Previously, you could just hit the multitask button on the phone and it would allow you to access your other apps. However, with Nougat, the multitask button is gone. This is a problem for me, since I use Hangouts Dialer, which is unsupported by Android Auto, for my calls.
There is still a way of getting around the lockout--if you swipe down the notifications shade, and somebody texted you on Hangouts, for example, you can open the notification and it takes you to Hangouts. Same with any other notification (e.g. you received an email, you can open the Gmail app, etc..) However, this relies on a notification being there organically.
To get to my question: is there a way to create a persistent notification--e.g. a permanent Hangouts notification that is not related to whether somebody messaged you or a permanent Gmail notification that is not tied to whether somebody emailed you something. I looked online and could not find anything on this. Any ideas?
Just received a new Amazfit Stratos.
Set up all fine and updated to latest firmware.
Not getting any caller contact info on calls and no SMS or Facebook messenger notifications though.
WhatsApp and emails seem to be working fine.
Is this a known issue. Phone is a pixel 2 on Android 8.1.
Any recommendations for extra apps to download and is there any way to separate music stored on the watch in albums instead of all together.
Thanks
Other users with Android 8.1 reported problems with callerid on watch, I am not sure with the other notifications (I don't have either Oreo or Stratos), but if all permissions are fine on phone and Amazfit app isn't being killed while on background then maybe it's an issue with Android. You can report issues or request features using this page if you have an International version of Pace or Stratos (A1612/A1619)
https://support.amazfit.com/hc/en-us/requests/new
No way to separate music in the builtin player, you can install a third party APK, I think BlackPlayer or something like this works well with the watch.
Have you enabled the apps you want to show notifications for in the Amazfit app's settings? It has a weird default list that includes some but not all apps, very confusing if coming from say a Pebble, which displayed all notifications by default
Hey guys,
Anybody have caller id shown when receveing calls ?
My device is on Android 9 Pie and i have a Amazfit Stratos on latest firmware, but when i receive a call, it only displays the caller phone number and not the name.
I already tried lots of different apps and checked the permissions on the smartphone, but couldn't solve it.
Any help would be appreciated
It's a known issue due to permissions changes in Pie. You can try to add phone/contacts/favorites to the apps that show notifications on watch and/or install another app that manage calls like Contacts+ or Google Phone.

Yeah, tried to add all other apps that manage calls and contacts, but with no success. Right now i am using Google Phone app for calls, it's the default phone app.
I previously had Xiaomi Mi A1 and now Pocophone F1 and have the same issues, was going to start a thread myself today but saw this one.... Using the stock Xiaomi contacts app (which is the only app that doesnt seem to duplicate Duo/WhatsApp/Outlook contacts), but have tried others on the A1....
Hello
You have to delete blank space between the numbers in your contacts list....
