I have 2 Craig CMP791 tablets. The problem is they are too slow to use. Facebook and Messenger quit responding but even the lite versions are painful. It has 16GB of flash memory but only 500 MB of RAM. I believe the low RAM is the main problem. The processor is an ATM7059C. It came with Lollipop version CMP791-userdebug 5.1.1 LMY47V root03221828 release-keys. I think it might stand a chance running KitKat but I haven't found a ROM that I know will work. The only good thing is they were rooted when I got them. I'm open to ideas.

Hello there,
I've just had an Archos 80 delivered, its the model with a 1GHz processor and 512 RAM. It was second hand and came with 4.0.26 official firmware. I've managed to install the SDE and put [email protected] on it which is based on 4.0.25 and it seems pretty jerky compared to the official ROM which was nice and smooth.
I'd like to have it rooted and optimized for performance, is there a better ROM which would work better for my low spec version of this tablet? I read another thread that said 4.0.6 is the best, but as I've had 4.0.26 on here, does that mean I can't go back to older versions?
Thanks very much for advice

You can go back or forward to any ICS version if you use a rooted stock version (it will behave as a custom version for all intents and purposes).
Other have also said that 4.0.7 is the best version. I use rooted 4.0.26, and recently had about 800 hours of uptime before I reset to test something.
Best Rom
I have almost the same tablet as you except 1.2 GHz so if you want [email protected] the best is ICS_BLUE.V03. Otherwise the rooted 4.0.26 is good if you don't have a lot of media files, Media Center slows my tablet to a crawl scanning my almost 500 music files. The new Jelly Bean 4.1.2 is going to be best when finished, I have almost no problems at all with it.
Hmm ok so I installed [email protected] and it seems a little better. Is it possible to overclock this processor? Do I just need to copy a different kernel?

The GPS is not very functional on 4.0.26. At least not on my Turbo 16GB that is only a few weeks old. I actually went back to 3.2.80.
I have no issues with the Gps in 4.0.26
This screener is made on my tablet.

As you can see, i got a nice and fast fix.
It does seem to work most of the time. Sometimes I have to reboot to get it to detect satellites though.
It seems that every 80g9 acts different even its exactly the same tablet with the same specs.
I guess that i am just one of the lucky ones
Surprised this wasn't asked yet as Google made it very clear 4.4 is made for lower memory devices.
As I'm running 4.3 on my Galaxy Nexus I'm faced with updating myself to 4.4 once it's stable and fully functional thanks to all the great developers out there. However, I'm wondering if I should based on the memory usage. 4.3 started making my phone lag a bit and have slower UI between app switching and such. Similar issues to:
4.3 high RAM usage?
So, does anyone know how much memory 4.3 uses in comparison to 4.4? It would be interesting to see how Google has based it's claim to a 512MB memory phone being sufficient while 4.3 may not be?
Testing

I'm testing CM11 right now, and it runs lot faster than CM10.2 on my SGS with only 512MB ram! It looks like there is always more free ram also, but I can't say for sure, will have to wait for a stable version to come out and make better comparison.
Hi,
Im running CM11 nightly (Android 4.4.4) on Moto G XT1032 which has circa 900MB or RAM. A friend of mine has another phone (Evolveo Strongphone D2 with stock ROM, Android 4.2). Im using about 112 widgets, my friend only uses about 5 or so.
What Im curious is - is there any way (apart from messing with his phone which none of us want to) to check if the lower RAM would be able to hold all my widgets etc. please?
My friend is satisfied with the phones RAM, having about 100MB free usually.
PS: Reason to consider his phone is that its a rugged and waterproof device with 4500mAh battery.
Hi everyone, I just bought my Zenpad 7.0 (2Gb RAM version) but I have feel very disappointed about the performance of it. Very slow (slower than my older device Lenovo Tab 2 A7-10 with MediaTek chipset, 1Gb RAM and GPU Mali-450MP) when playing game
So I think the problem at the stock ROM of ASUS, it have lots of useless apps for me, it takes more RAM, CPU, ... Do you know any custom roms or aosp rom can install with this deivce, please give me the link. I'm looking for AOSP ROM but don't know it can install on my devece or not?
Thank you all, bros.
Same feeling here.
There has been a slight improvement with the recent system update that was available, but overall the tablet's performance is pretty crappy. And ofcourse all the useless bloatware....
I wish I didn't drop my TF300, but what can you do against an accident, right? I've been looking for a custom rom as well, but I got a feeling the mass just knows it's ****.
My Huawei Mate 10 Pro has been in use since ~ 2 weeks and I copied data from my Android 6 phone to this Android 8 phone with the Huawei Phone Clone app. Now I have some bugs but the most annoying one is: My device is running out of memory after 1 - 2 days. The Android OS is taking up to 4.5 GB of 6 GB RAM and then I have serious issues like phone gets slower, apps crashing on startup, videos not playing anymore, etc. Any idea how I can find out what exactly is wrong? Latest firmware, BLA-L29 8.0.0.129(C432) is installed.
Best Regards
I had similar problem with memory on .129 (C432). Now, I'm on .131, and it is back to normal like was before .129.
So how did you get to .131? The .129 is the latest one for me in Germany so far.

I got exactly the same with 129 :crying: within 2 days it runs out of memory and only a reboot solves it...
I flashed the 128 firmware yesterday, hopefully that will work for the time being.
I can confirm it has happened to me once on C432 .129 and it got back to normal after a reboot. I was doing nothing out of the normal web browsing.
