Hi Mate 10 Pro owners!
My question is simple:
How can I make a reliable backup of my stock Mate 10 Pro firmware, without root access?
I haven't used it yet, thus it's as stock as it comes. No updates, no installs, no rooting done - nothing.
Can anyone help? As a (I guess) boyscout , I want to be fully prepared if EMUI 9.0 Pie doesn't out work for me.
Thanks guys & girls.
DISCLAIMER: I know there's a ton of firmware backup tools, BUT I'm looking for the safest way - idiot proof (since I'm not willing to risk bricking a flagship phone:silly: )

Hey guys, this may seem like a newbie question (cus I am one) but I'd like to get Lollipop on my Huawei Ascend P6 but Huawei (as far as I know) hasn't release an update for it and probs won't so i was wondering if there was a general Lollipop download (no ROMs cus I don't know how to do it and seems too confusing - plus scared might be brick my phone) that I could install and run and update to Lollipop?
Help will be much appreciated as I've been trying to get it for a long time, thanks.
Hi guys,
Although I'm not a totally newbie, I mean I installed Honeycomb on the OG Desire watch out for the volume tho, but I'm totally new to the Huawei thingq, although I've owned a Ascend Mate 7 and a P9+ I never went as far as looking for root and custom ROMs, and I'm specially not educated in the whole architectural changes that treble brings.
So I've a few questions, and hopefully someone can clear some of them for me.
1- Unlocked BL means no OTA right? Also not via Firmware Finder?
2- Running stock, if a new update pops up on the web, I download the .zip and extract everything. I can flash the systems but I'm missing lots of things there, fixes on the kernel, and other stuff. Should I flash them all? Is it recommend? Or are the risks to high? Should I wait for the specific rom to be signed for my IMEI or am I okay as long as I choose the right branding (Europe for me).
3- And having magisk root... Does will it make flashing a new update any complicated?
4 - (and the last), when running a AOSP rom, is it possible/recommend to extract a new stock kernel and flash it when an update is available?
Thanks a lot
Hello guys. Happy New year.
So, I have this P20 lite ANE LX-1 8.0.0 1.4.4 (IRL C368)
I don't get OTA updates for 1.5.6 or higher. Can I flash the c362 firmware using dload thing? Never done it but seems simple. I am asking you because I don't want to mess up with my phone. I just want to have the turbo gpu and the gestures, things that I cannot find in 1.4.4. update.
So, what should I do? Thank you very much in advance.
PS: the phone it's stock, nothing changed.
Hi I have a unlocked Mate 10 pro originally based on 3 network UK (BLA-L09 c782) and I want to upgrade to pie since no update has hit me yet.
I have firmware finder, there is a Pie update available however not approved for installation, If it's safe to still update it via erecovery, how do I do it?
Do you lose all your data? Is it pretty straight forward?
I don't want to click the option and end up bricking my phone lol.
I haven't done anything similar to this in over 5 years when i was addicted to installing ROMs so i'm very wary and a complete noob again!

If it's not yet approved for installation then despite downloading, it won't update but will give you an error. This was my experience on a C158 version. The erecovery update doesn't delete your data unless you're downgrading to Oreo from Pie.
I wrote instructions for Firmware Finder/DNS update. This is like OTA, you keep all your data and settings.
Hope it helps.
Patience is a virtue! It will be available OTA very soon. Besides, there's nothing that different from Oreo that will change your day-to-day life in any meaningful way. Also, these Huawei phones are very finicky when it comes to doing anything beyond what Huawei allows...just read through this forum a little and you will see that many, many unfortunate end users make a mess of their phones by trying things that are not safe to try. YMMV
Is there a way to put a stock Android OS onto the P20 Lite? Model is ANE-LX2J and currently running EMUI 9.1.0. I have nothing but issues with notifications and settings with this phone and I'd love to go back to what I've always used and ditch EMUI completely. Is there any way to do this? I couldn't find a custom firmware and I don't want to brick my phone experimenting with things. Thanks.
Edit: Just saw Lineage is gonna release for this phone so I might wait for that and hope it does what I want it to do.
I agree with you. It's been okay for the first 1.5 years, but in recent times I have those problems too. I would like to switch to a custom or stock rom with the goal to increase performance. I haven't used any custom rom for some years now. What are the "main customs" these days?
