Problems with led view cover on pie - Samsung Galaxy S9+ Questions & Answers

For some reason my led view cover isn't recognized anymore when the s9+ is running Pie.
I've already tried lot of different things:
Wipe cache
Factory reset
Clean install via Odin
Clean Oreo via odin and ota to Pie
Clean Oreo and smart switch update to Pie
The cover is working just fine on Oreo and is instantly detected by the phone, but as soon as I update to Pie it suddenly stops working. No time on led, the led symbol editor does pop up on the App screen and the auto lock/unlock when the cover is closed or opened doesn't work anymore. When going back to Oreo it just works fine again...
Does someone else also have a similar problem, or maybe knows how to fix it?
Currently on the latest update on the German DBT version, no root.

I have same problem with Led Wiev Cover . After Update Android Pie stop working.
Samsung S9+
Currently on latest update on the Czech version, no root.

Just updated my regular s9 to Pie via the OTA update, and my Samsung LED cover no longer works either! It's not detected in the accessories list anymore, and opening/closing the cover doesn't turn on/off the phone's screen. And of course no display on the front of the cover. Anyone fix this?

S9 LED view Cover stopped working after Pie update
I have the same problem (S9 Hungarian). I already reported the problem via Samasung Members. The support did not give any relevant answer. (Clear data, cache of Always On Display service, reboot; Factory restore) Finally they suggested me to take my device back to a service center

I ended up flashing Oreo back to my device. The LED cover with fine again. Definitely a Pie issue.

Works fine on Pie for me.
No issues.
Have you updated the LED cover software? (Mine is 05/0E)

I checked for and installed all available updates. The LED editor software stayed on v2.2.37, maybe something got pushed down over the past couple days? Are you in the USA? Unlocked? I don't mind Pie, but I'm not going back until this is fixed, I really like my cover ?

Nono. Not the led cover editor. The actual cover software. 2.2.37 is the current version for the icon editor.
Advanced features -> Accessories -> About LED View Cover. It'll check for firmware and software updates for the actual LED Cover.
Soldier 15.0 ROM, SM-G965F, clean flash from Oreo.

As far as I can remember the cover triggered the "get matching theme" notification after first boot. Kinda weird it doesn't trigger for you guys ssince it doesn't require NFC or anything else archaic or odd..
It works the same, unfortunately, as in Oreo. It's kinda useless and gimmicky. But I agree. It SHOULD work since you bought it.

Ah, see that was part of the issue! It no longer showed up in accessories on Oreo!

Screen protector? Thick glass or somesuch?

Nope. Nothing has changed since I got this cover at launch nearly a year ago. Zero issues until Pie. Installed pie, cover dead. Factory reset pie cover dead. Reflashed Oreo, cover perfect.

Haven't found a fix yet...
Under oreo it still works fine, but on pie nothing...
Someone found a solution yet?
Can maybe someone with a working cover tell us what the software versions for the cover service and the led editor is?

So it's working with the pie now?

Try taking the phone out of the case and then reboot the phone. Put the phone back in the case once it has rebooted. I had the same problem after the Security patch level: 1 March 2019. It seems that the phone doesn't recognise that there is a case attached and the Accessories settings menu item is not visible.

I read somewhere that for some the screen does not turn of when you close the cover.
Is that the case here?
Because then that could be the cause. The magnet in the front has been moved or demagnetized.
These guys supposedly get the theme toast when inserting the phone into the case, so the case sorta works but the phone doesnt understand that the cover is closed...

Know what's even more strange?
When I use the service menu and test the magnetic sensor:
It lights up green when I close the case, meaning that the sensor works just fine, but no reaction on screen off or any other sign of the normal Funktions from the led cover. Screen stays on even though the phone sees that the sensor is active.
The case doesn't show up in the accessories tab in settings too.

I just realized something.
If I remove the phone from the cover and puts the lid on the screen.. It does not switch off. So it's not (only) a magnet at play here..

Huh. I can reproduce the screen does not switch off even with my working cover.
If I slowly close the lid with the lid turned a bit clockwise (force the lower left corner as far as possible to the left) the screen stays on and The leds don't light up and show the time..

Phone Locks Immediately After Unlocking

Has anyone else had this happen to them?
I was playing Deep Dungeons of Doom (ftw), then the screen suddenly turned off and locked. So I unlocked it, but as soon as I put in my code the screen shut off and locked again. It wouldn't stop. So I had to force a reboot. When the phone came back on, I unlocked it and sure enough it locked again. I did this again but put in the code slowly (I'm using the swipe lock). Then it unlocked properly. Seems to be working properly so far...
Anyone else experience this?
Me too...
Hi!
My phone has the same behavior (screen goes on and off randomly).
It does look like we are not the only one since people opened a topic on OP forum: https:// forums.oneplus.net/threads/screen-lock-issue-oneplus-x.404960/
Does it still happen on your side?
See ya!

Never mind... It just happened again. :/
I just realized something. The screen lock issue only seems to happen when the phone goes into landscape, specifically when you turn it to the left (camera on the left side, capacitive keys on the right). I can reproduce the issue by playing a game which forces landscape orientation (sword of xolan, cytus). The issue happens every time, within a minute of playing. However, when I start the game and hold the phone in the opposite position (capacitive keys on the left, camera on the right), it works perfectly well. The screen does not shut off and lock by itself.
I have no idea if it is the same with others.
I guess I had this issue while playing NFS no limits
Sent from my ONE E1003 using Tapatalk
I know this is an old thread, but I just thought I should add an update. I know what the issue was. It was the magnetic sensor. I have the OP case with the flip cover. When I have the cover folded back behind the device, and the device is put into landscape and then you adjust the volume, it would shut the screen down as though I had closed the cover. If i take the phone out of the case the issue does not occur. I can replicate the issue again and again with the case on and the cover folded back.
So there you have it. If you have the same issue, try taking the cover off.
I just ordered a new spigen case. One without a cover.
Having this issue with my one plus 3t
I don't have a magnetic cover it seems to occur when I plug in head phones earphones are fine but videos on youtube will freeze but once even after resetting it was locking and unlocking so wiped data ?
My phone is samsung J4 and as soon as i unlocked it, it turns off and locks again. This has been going again and again for quite a while and Im confused because i dont usually play games like the other cases mentioned here. Please reply if u know a solution or atleast think of it as a solution.

My screen started being always off during calls regardless of rom

Another thread about this stupid sensor.
My screen goes black when I call or answer a call. If I use a headset sometimes randomly the screen comes on or stays on when I answer a call.
The proximity sensor is working. Looking in *#*#7378423#*#* > Service tests > Ambient Light Sensor.
Putting it to a lamp gives a value of 10.0 and putting my finger over the sensor gives 0.0 .
So its working.
This seems to not be rom related if not for the change after Android 4.4. I flashed roms from cm-12.1-20161016-NIGHTLY-togari.zip, AOSP_N_161207_togari.zip and now I am on hybrid_concept_edition_2.0.zip.
I do have a screen protector on. But with a hole for the sensor. Its not dirty in that area. And the sensor worked fine way before I installed it.
This started happening during the last two months or so.
I tried numerus of apps from play store. None did anything. Of course I could force the screen to be on. But with the risk of pushing some buttons when I'm in a call.
My temporary fix so far has been to enable end call with power button
Do you have any idea what to do?
Thank you
I'm facing this same problem, I'm on stock.

yup.. I had mine apart today. But you need to remove the battery in order to flip the motherboard around to get to the connector.
I don't have time for that. Perhaps the battery will explode if I try to remove it..
So I cut a piece of foam plastic to fit around the usb connector so there is a constant pressure applied to the motherboard when screwed down the NFC antenna because there is a screw just around this area that sets the NFC antenna in place.
Hang on. I just made a call just for the sake of it that you answered to my thread and it freakin works!!!!!!!!!!!
I got the idea from this guy/gal: https://forum.xda-developers.com/xp...olution-proximity-sensor-fix-z-ultra-t3595525

Screen Not Waking Properly

Just got the Verizon V30 and I do have AOD on. When I put the phone to sleep with power or knock off I have trouble waking it up. It appears the screen goes off totally when I flip it over or put it in my pocket. Whe I pull it out of the pocket it will not wake up with power button or knock on taps for a good 20 seconds or more.
I cannot find a setting to stop the screen for totally going off when I pocket the phone. I can confirm that I do NOT have the smart lock feature enabled. I’m just using a PIN code unlock, no facial or voice recognition. I really like the phone but I can’t have this happening every time I take it out of my pocket or turn it over on the couch.
Any ideas?
Thanks for reading.

Do you have any screen protector on the phone? Any battery saver apps or settings? In my experience the AOD is suppose to go off when turned over or put in a pocket. I haven't seen a way to change that. Mine might take a couple seconds to awaken, but never 20 seconds.

I just began having this issue. Do you still have the device?
It never worked correctly so I got rid of it. My coworker still uses his and has no issues. Sorry I can't help more.

I try it by my V30 and had no problems. It is eventually just a random bug?

I have my since December from last year and only now it started to behave like that.. I don't know if it is a software issue or hardware issue of some kind. I've tested the sensors and they appear to be fine.. I will try to do a backup of my data and perform a hard reset to see if it helps, but I'm not counting on it...
I don't use AOD. Just try it to reproduce the problem. Maybe my V30 get the same problems after long term use of it.
The only problem i get random with screen is, that after a restart the colors get crazy there are not normal after enabling Comfort View all get back normally but it is a other story.

I did some tests (issue of being a former Senior QA Engineer). I've tried disabling the AOD and the same thing happened. What I just did is disabling the Knock-On feature.
I need to test it more thoroughly but the issue didn't happen after that.. YET. I need to go somewhere, with the phone in my pockets for a longer period (even though by now I should've seen the issue again) just to be sure and even trying to enable the Knock-On back again.. But let's see..
As for the colors, I really can't say much because I've never used the comfort view feature (I usually just dim down the brightness at night and that's all).
Yeah test it i will it do too. I enabling the AOD and say you next day when i get some problems.
I testing AOD since yesterday and dont get any problem until now.
Hello, I had the same problem, the proximity sensor fails, although the tests say otherwise, download an application from play store, fix sensor, solved!

I still need to try the Comfor Color to see if it happens here. Is only that I always forget to try.
With mine the AOD worked well since day one. I did some things that seemed to have fixed somehow...
I've removed the device from the case I was using (a simple thin one). gave it a good cleaning, forced the power button for a while because I was feeling it was getting stucked. It seemed to keep showing issues HOWEVER, after I disabled the Knock-On feature, left it off for a while it stopped to have issues. I enabled it again and now it is working perfectly... I don't know if it was a coincidence or a sum of all factors.. but now it seems to be working...

Sorry for my English, I do not use the Knock-On function, below is the application link for the proximity sensor

Proximity sensor broke amd always on display..

I am new to the site so hello to all.
I have a sprint LG V30 with android 8.0. I recently had the screen replaced as my fone fell out of my pocket, in the rain, then got ran over by a car. Yes it DID survive but had to replace the screen. Anyway, the proximity sensor no longer works so I turned it off. So the light sensor seems to control my always on display. When it's slightly dark, the A.O.D. turns off and wont come back on until i put it near a light or press the power button 3 times. My question: how do I make it so the A.O.D. always stays on?
Thankyou for any help (^-^)

Get the repair done right? LG will do it right.
Proximity sensor lets the phone know if it's just a dark room or if you've flipped the phone over on the desk, or you have a flip case and it's closed. If the latter two, then no need for the AOD to even be on.

I don't think you can, which is why my suggestion was to get it repaired correctly ("get the repair done right"). Whoever repaired it botched the job.

black screen after boot

Screen goes black and doesn't turn on when booting. Tried software repair with Xperia Companion but still the same problem. Phone is working even with black screen because it can still receive calls but no display so you can't answer calls. Tried restarting/power off. After the sony logo and xperia it goes black when android os starts. Tried searching this forum for same condition and I think there is none so I posted this concern of mine. Please help.
Were you on stock rom? Last official Pie?
i have the same problem. I can confirm that the screen itself is working as it can display logos, battery charge animation and a few moments of booted os then it goes blank. Stock ROM, updated to latest version
Maybe try to downgrade to official Oreo and see what's happen could be an idea?
Edit: also reboot in recovery and see if it works fine

Ok, let me add a bit more context. Yesterday i decided to test waterproofness of this phone.. I know, i'm genius. So, i put it in washbasin and flooded with a 15cm of water... Yeah, just like that. It worked fine under water, sim tray was closed. After i finished this act of vandalism it seemed to work just fine for a few hours, but at some point screen stopped working. Currently i still can see some water droplets on the inner sides of the cameras, so i'll leave my phone for a few more days to let it completely dry out
