Compatibility - Samsung Galaxy S9+ Questions & Answers

Recently samsung changed the market of exynos to snapdragon in the Latin countries losing 100% compatibility, so some doubts arise, but mainly with the compatibility of firmwares. So:
I need help, someone to solve a question, is the variant China (CHC) and Hong Kong (TGY) compatible with the SM-G9650 variant of Mexico (MXO) or do they have any change that prevents their installation?

100% compatibility is a bit much lol.. with multi csc you should be able to use the snaps just about anywhere in the world..
you also have more possibilities if u unlock the bl..
with that being said, they have similar model names and chipsets but i wouldnt know lol im stuck on a usa snap

No NFC for UK?

So theres no NFC for the uk version?
And apparently present in the Korean version when released?
Anyone know about versions in other regions?
Yeah, our korea Galaxy S2 will be released today or tomorrow. (It's KST - GMT +09 time)
Perfectly Korean version include NFC function.
But, korean version S2 too many localised to Korea
(like non-standard mms spec, smaller frequencies support than EU version, many bloat ware...ETC)
detail symptom is refer that my link.

Thanks.
It was apparently to keep the device as thin as possible. Some GS2's outside of the UK, the US and east asia will also be running on Tegra 2 and SLCD.

It's a 1.2 GHz Exynos now, not 1 GHz.
Is there any info for NFC for any other region?
I'd love to play with an exynos... but I much rather having one that has NFC considering I have the atrix... so the performance on exynos over tegra isnt that important but I'd love to experiment with nfc...
Also is the mms + sms difference in the korean version hardware or software?
As it has an unlocked bootloader, if its just software then I wont worry too much XD

MMS spec is perfectly different.
Most of GSM carrier use OMA-MMS. but korea SKTelecom use theris own SK-MMS spec. Framework layer and application layer are PERFECTLY different.
If only application problem, you will replace another sms application (like handcent) but, framework problem is critical issue. If you fixed this problem, you will modify GS2 SMS/MMS framework. may be impossible.
And our Korea galaxy S1 can't buff from XDA. because not global model its korea localised model.
I think GS2 may be same..
So I recommend that buy your region's i9100 model or wait a SG2 later model.(like SG3?!)
So it will be unlikely that the korean version's software can be replaced with the international version then?
Sigh... Thats unfortunate then

Kinda late reply.
I am a user of Galaxy S6 Edge in Korea, and I have the G925K model. This model is a carrier variant in Korea (for KT Olleh), and I am able to make video calls.
The video calls availability more depends on your carrier. I did not know that the G925K model was also release in other countries (and I am kinda suspicious) but I would suggest you to ask your carrier.

Does the USSD Code works with Korean S6 Variant? I bought S5 last time and it did not work... just want to know first before I buy S6 again in Korea., Thanks
I wonder if it's time to update documentation about the K variant. I just had to RMA my G925F to Deutsche Telekom, and they gave me a G925K back. No difference that I've noticed, but clearly they're sending K's everywhere nowadays!

which honor 9 model?

Hi. I have a galaxy s8+ which I am thinking of selling to get this phone - mainly because of treble support and the s8+ is too big! I was going to get the 6gb/128gb version which is great value on ali express. I know the Chinese version doesn't have band 20 but that doesn't matter on EE in the UK.
However I wanted to check whether there are other issues with not getting the European version of the honor 9? Does the Chinese version support the new aosp treble based Rom the devs have built? The thread seems vague on this issue. Other there any other issues with the Chinese version?
Appreciate your help.
As far as i'm aware, you can actually re brand the Chinese variant to EU.
Not sure if the version of android on it has Google Play services, or an English language selection, but language packs can be downloaded.
BUT! you will get the OS updates before us lot with EU versions.... who are still stuck on B182, China have got B360 which is oreo.
Either way, its a good buy, destroys the s8 in benchmarks, and just the right size to not be too small or too big in the hand.
There 3 differents STF Chinese honor 9:
AL00
AL10
TL10
I've got an AL00 rebranded to L09 and it's working great, like an European model but without LTE BANDS 7(2600) & 20(800).
Thanks for the responses. I thought the Chinese variants of the honor 9 were the same as Xiaomi - only missing band 20? I'm on EE which doesn't need band 20 but I believe does need 2600mhz (band 7). Any ideas? Thanks

You could change phone version on this link, I think LTE BANDS are corrects but there is errors on size and colors.
Thanks. EE state that most of their 4g coverage is with band 3 so should be Ok! Thanks for the responses guys.
I wouldn't expect huawei to use a different LTE chip in each phone, that would require 2 different versions of the kirin 960, which wouldn't be in the interests of the development cost of the phone.
I'd assume its an OS limitation, since AL10/100 firmwares will run on L09 models after rebranding, and vice-versa.

I'd like it to be true.
Do baseband is inside Kirin 960 cpu chip or in another chip?
The way I see it they ship differents variations with differents nand & ram sizes, so maybe they could switch others things without adding tremendous producing cost.
Or they are the same but phoned still keep their original LTE bands over the publicly available rebranding guides.

S9 Plus different region versions

Hello fine people who know more than I do.
I purchased an unlocked S9 from Best Buy while in the States.
I am looking to impart my network in Ireland (eir/meteor) firmware on to it as I need the Wi-Fi calling that the unlocked US version doesn't have.
So I have the G965U1, the version software I found on another site was for the G965F does that mean it won't work correctly? Help I have no clue.

Is it possible to install stock S21 ROM on S21 AT&T (USA) version?

I am thinking of getting an S21 from AT&T because of the deal they have right now, but I don't like AT&T bloatware. I'm a noob when it comes to phone firmware and such, so I'm not sure what is or isn't possible.
My understanding is as follows:
Carrier unlock is possible via AT&T website to use other carrier SIM cards.
Bootloader unlock is not possible on AT&T devices (starting at V2 seemingly?).
I'm just not clear if you need an unlocked bootloader to flash the stock S21 ROM on an AT&T device. If not needed, what is the point of unlocking the bootloader, just for root?
Any clarity is appreciated.
You can use "patched ODIN" to do flash "U1" firmware, which removes bloatware.
Not sure about the bootloader, I think you're correct on that.
I flashed an Xfinity Mobile S21 (carrier unlocked by them) to U1 but so far the phone is refusing to use the proper carrier settings for VoWIFI (I have a VZW sim in it now). It worked for 1-2 weeks previously. Everything else seems to work properly including VoLTE.
I'll probably switch back to Xfnity Mobile to get VoWIFI working again.
Thanks for the response.

My understanding is that the international firmware is not compatible with the US phones because the US version uses the Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, whereas the international phones use the Exynos chip. I think you're stick with single SIM, unfortunately.

the snapdragon version is only sold in the US solely?
"International and Korea models of the S21 utilize the Exynos system-on-chip, while the U.S., Canadian, Chinese, Taiwanese, Hong Kong and Japanese models utilize the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888."
