Help with Amazon Fire TV Game controller - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello, I recently purchased this controller for around 20 dollars and I'm trying to pair up with my Huawei P20 lite, the thing is that when I try to pair it (by holding the home button for 5 seconds) it can't find it, is this controller only designed for the fire TV stick or is there a way to make it work for Android phones? I was reading some discussion about making it work on Windows and some of them had some luck but I don't really know
Thanks for reading

Third Party Controllers

Does anyone know if the Nexus Player supports them, and what about a USB controller over OTG? OTG, in general, for that matter.

In my case specifically I would love that DualSchock 3 (PS3 controller) from Sony do the thing hoping that the bluetooth environment are compatible, I maybe pro Google and the Nexus Player is a hell of a device in every angle, including price value, but I am also pro money and Nexus 6 plus the Player and ALSO needs to buy apart the ASUS controller, I rather the first two.
I was able to get Xbox controllers working on the Fire TV by just plugging them in. I'm sure the Nexus Player running android will have Plug and Play support for most controllers.
talk about putting the cart before the horse...
i ordered two nexus player controllers. they are scheduled to be shipped to me tomorrow...
the thing is i dont yet have the players (i ordered two)
Waiting patiently myself. I ordered an official controller. But Im hoping an xbox 360 controller over OTG will work.

If the Nexus Player controller is the same as the one that came with ADT-1 (and it looks like it is by the pictures), it's just a standard bluetooth controller. . . and it sucks. That said though, I did learn that I could connect my PS3 controller to my ADT-1 via USB and it just worked (after hitting the PS button). The only odd thing with using the sixaxis is after I disconnect it from the ADT-1, it turns on my PS3. haha
I have successfully paired a Moga Pro in HID mode, and hooked up multiple Xbox 360 controllers over OTG. If you already have USB or Bluetooth controllers that work on other Android devices, chances are good that they will work on the Player as well.
The only limitation for now is that controllers that rely on an app for custom mappings or touch emulation are not guaranteed to work, simply because most apps are not optimized for Android TV yet. YMMV.
I received my NP yesterday and have both my Nyko Playpad Pro's connected and working fine, no issues.
any chance the Nvidia Shield controller will work?
Unsure on Nvidia Shield, but do not see why not. The Nyko's were purchased in hopes they would work when Fire TV came out and they were half the price @ Gamestop (paid $20/each) compared to the FireTV controller and they worked straight away.
PS4 controller is working via USB, it'll show up on Bluetooth if you put it into pairing mode (hold Share + PS button) but it will never finish pairing
The Logitech F710 works with Android 5, but I don't have an OTG cable that will work in the NPlayer. I ordered one. I'll test with the player once that arrives.
This is not a bluetooth gamepad, but it is wireless and has a USB dongle. My current OTG cable has an angled connection, and it angles towards the HDMI cable. I did test it with my N9 and verified it worked fine there. Since it's suppose to be the same Android but with a different UI, I anticipate it working on the NPlayer as well.
Will update with results when I have them.

that wont work, nividia shield works over wifi and not bluetooth. i own two and will test on the nexus player but it already doesnt work on any other android device so im sure it wont.
Got my straight OTG cable in. Logitech F710 works fine. Played some FF3 with it without issue.
I am researching on a controller to buy for the nexus player. I have the NES30 and im having issues connecting. I am looking for one to buy to play emulators such as n64. Which controller would be best?
The gamepad or a 3rd party one? Does anyone know if the Amazon fire tv one works with the NP?

Hey man, I paired my $15 nyko playpad with zero issues. Playing mupen64 Roms like a boss.

Thanks, Cody! Would you recommend the playpad over the playpad pro?
I have amazon credit, so if i get a controller there I can get a controller cheap. I was thinking about trying the amazon fire tv controller or maybe another bluetooth controller maybe Mad Catz ctrl r or i.
Is the nexus gamepad worth $50 (with tax and shipping) vs the other controllers I mention above? I have enough amazon credit to get most controllers on amazon for really cheap.
Can u pair two controllers. Bluetooth at the same time to play a game such as contra

I happened to own a Nyko Playpad (not the Pro) from a while ago that I never really used. While I can't recommend it as a great gaming controller, it does have one key feature that turns it from run-of-the-mill control pad to ultimate NP utility. It contains a switch that allows you to switch between HID, iCade, Mouse, and App modes. It's the Mouse setting that makes this controller truly useful, because without it, I couldn't navigate around MAME to set up my control pad, or navigate around Mupen64 to quit out of a game (how else are people achieving this? Just quitting out?) Basically, to really set up many of the emus properly, you need some kind of mouse input, so it's nice that I can switch the Playpad back and forth between HID and Mouse modes as needed.

How did you set up the buttons? I don't exactly have a touch screen TV to setup each button individually.

Joystick for car

Hi guys,
I'm looking for a simple bluetooth controller that has a few buttons on it so that I can switch through applications without touching the screen, e.g. from the back of a car.
I've seen some of the remotes such as this one here: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Bluetooth...998795?hash=item41adef0c0b:g:fPcAAOSwFnFV-xHg
but I'm skeptical of the quality for that price.
Would appreciate any links you can share with me.
Cheers,
Andy
ive got the same controller, i use it to change songs/volume, play pause music, answer calls while driving, its super useful out of the car too.
it has a mouse mode if you want to be able to control it from the back seat, it can be frustrating as im not sure if it has a button assigned to switching apps
battery lasts long enough to not be a problem - charges fast enough too.
again this item is super useful to have around as its a game controller too etc. for the price you cant go wrong. check aliexpress (like ebay/amazon but stupidly cheap because everything is sold direct from china) out as they might have it cheaper or a different version of it
cheers, I already have a bluetooth audio control for the car but wanted one for cycling between apps etc. I think it would be too fidly to use it as a mouse while driving?
I picked up the 8bitdobzero Bluetooth controller. It came with a keychain adapter and it works great
Bought mine off AliExpress for $9 took about 2 weeks to deliver. Amazon has it for $17

MOGA Pivot and MOGA Pocket

Hi, so I got MOGA Pocket controller. At first I thought, yes, finally I can play games with better experience but then I realized than I didn't do enough research about this controller. At first I tried to pair it with MOGA Pivot app, it can't pass through Step 3 with method when you turn off your controller then hold PowerA button then turn on controller and try to pair it. It just shows Unable to locate MOGA Pocket. Than I found MOGA Universal Driver but it's pretty much useful with emulators but I don't play mutch with them, I want to play some Rockstar Games or games like Rush Rally 2. Like in Bully I can't even use my controller, in Rush Rally 2 I can only use my right analog stick. I guess all those problems are because of I'm not using official app. I'm on Android 7.1 using Xiaomi Mi5. Could you please help me?

Betop G1 Gamepad for P20 Pro?

Hi!
I've just updated my P20 Pro to Pie and managed to get the AppAssistant working. In the app is the option to pair supported game controllers which at the moment is Betop G1. It's dedicated for Mate 20 series but as far as I know is now working with Honor Play as well. I was wondering if anybody tried that with P20 Pro? I play PUBG a lot and would like to try this out. Thanks
Mine just works fine also and it comes default with the update. If you check the pairing devices then it shows the betop g1 so no doubt that it will work fine.... It's just that weird design
How well does this fit the P20 Pro? Any photos of the controller attached?
It does not work with p20 pro, only with mate 20 series except mate 20 lite.
I suggest getting a third party Bluetooth controller

Honestly the best pad i've used and i've had a few is the iPega extendible, not only does it fit any phone or tablet (not quite the largest iPad) but everything under, the battery is built in, it's widely recognised for auto set up in emulators and games, battery lasts a long long time, plus it charges fast and the buttons and response time are superb.
I've had a few Moga's moga pro, normal moga, PS3 pad, xbox.
Prefer the d pad on a ps3 / ps4 but strictly for Android, the iPega has stood alone.
Might check out the one you mentioned though, cheers.
Heres the monster

£18 for this is a steal, also got media buttons on it.

PS4 Remote Play for Android - Controllers?

Today I just found out PS4 Remote Play can be run on Android devices. Dream come true. Im under the impression this rolled out a bit ago, but I havent been able to play PS4, so I didnt know about the port to Android. Anyway, I ran into a pretty obvious issue that I can't seem to find any answers to or even reference to, no matter where I search: The controller.
I have never ever been able to play Android games using the on screen controls. I purchased the 8Bitdo to pair with Bluetooth nearly 2 years ago and have played most Android games (and emulators on Android) ever since then. Its an amazing controller. I just like having a tangible controller in my hand.
No one seems to be asking for advice on PS4 DS Controller alternatives or adapters.
I tried connecting PS4 DS by USB-C to Micro-USB, nothing.
8Bitdo connected by cable, nothing. By Bluetooth, nothing.
Tried Logitech Gaming controller. Nothing
Theres got to be some sort of tangible, in hand controller.
Does anyone know anything about this?
