I have an open market us998 on Verizon service. I recently flashed in TWRP vs996 rom. Set it up and had video calling ability. I experienced Bluetooth issues with the rom, so I went back to the us998 rom. Recently, @JohnFawkes released a new vs996 TWRP zip. I did a complete wipe and installed the rom. When I went to advanced calling and tried to activate video calling, I got a message that video calling had been turned off on my account and I needed to call customer care. I called, and they told me that it showed turned on to them.
Is this something someone else has dealt with.
Thanks in advance if yes.

Thanks for the response. I am aware of that thread, and have actually been pretty active on it. I'll use it for any further questions regarding Verizon.

Hello,
I have flashed before... But I've never actually flashed to factory so it will still accept updates from the carrier.. I have a friend with a Google pixel and it's having some bad glitches. I figure the best way would be to reinstall Android. But how do I have it locked onto Bell (Canada) so it will still have its own updates? I understand this may be a common asked question but I am unable to find much on this. Even a link to a post would be great then I can just delete this.
EDIT: turns out he went to bell reflashed it and it didn't work.
Symptoms:
Calling someone noone can hear him he can't hear them
Incoming call glitches the phone needs a full set
After reset one phone call can be made then it continues same above.
What could be doing this?
Thanks!
Me and my wife have the V30. On her dialer screen she has a visual voicemail icon, and on mine is just the text messages icon. I can't figure out why?
Also her volte is greyed out and mine is not.
Finally, when she makes or received a call, her phone shoes her caller ID with a SIM code and mine doesn't.

And you two have which V30 models and what carriers/providers? Same or different?
Also what firmware version does each have?

Puzzling, then.
You both are on the same T-Mobile plan?
1) Did you disable anything using the package disabler or ADB disabler? That can bork VoLTE.
2) As an experiment, what happens if you temporarily swap SIM cards?

I did use the package disabler. What files or permissions would deal with the dialer or volte?

There's one entry called Wi-Fi calling. VoLTE and Wi-Fi calling are very integrated by carriers. One other user disabled the Wi-Fi calling "package" and his VoLTE no longer worked. Although I don't know why your wife's VoLTE is not working but yours is? I assume you disabled the same things on both?
For the dialer itself I'm not sure. Some "packages" (apps, services) are interconnected and it's not clearly defined -- "this is bloatware", "this is actually important".
Do a factory reset on both, see if the two dialers then match each other?
If they are the same model, same firmware, same carrier, same carrier plan, there shouldn't be any difference.

I'm not going to do a factory reset on this as everything is working. Perhaps the Oreo update will fix it.

Yes, maybe the Oreo update will restore the stuff you disabled and that will fix it.
One of the recent package disablers has a plug-in you can download to re-enable apps/services, so you don't need to factory reset -- but I don't know which one of the different package disabler apps you used. I don't know if you used the one which offers that re-enable plug-in.

Which plug in other than visual voicemail would affect the dialer?

You mean which "package" (app or service, which maybe was disabled) would affect the dialer? I don't know.
I edited my reply above to clarify. One package disabler has a separate download available so you don't have to factory reset to re-enable. But I don't know which one you used.

Problem solved! Just swapped out the Sim card and Viola, problem solved! Happy ending!

I know this is old, but on 9.0, do you have the visual voicemail icon on the dialer? I never had it. Since you are on TMobile, I'm assuming you have the H932.

Hey guys, I followed the Frankenstein guide to turn my AT&T V30 to a US998 to use on Verizon. All went fine and I'm using my Verizon SIM, however when I send text messages (using Google Messages or Textra), they get stuck at "sending." Some of them will actually go through to the recipient but it will still say "sending" and ultimately warn me that the message wasn't sent.
I can receive SMS messages just fine and can actually send and receive MMS just fine.
I've tried toggling airplane mode and rebooting my phone.
Any tips?
Yeah over in the Verizon thread was a suggestion to change file size limits on Textra in settings. That seemed to work. Something about "legacy" and file size.
It seems to be a Verizon/Textra problem.
In my searching I saw mention for Textra and MMS, but I'm having trouble finding info for problems sending SMS. Do you happen to have the link to that thread/post?
Thanks!

Yes, you would flash via LGUP with DL PARTITION method, but leave off recovery partition partitions so you keep TWRP.
I haven't installed customer recovery yet, but I actually would like to. Should I do that before flashing the Verizon image?
Also would I find the Verizon Oreo file somewhere in the V30 ROMs forum?

Yes, because with US998 you have fastboot flash commands. So if you unlock bootloader and install TWRP and root, THEN you can flash to Verizon VS996 and keep TWRP. You'll lose the fastboot flash commands, but you won't need them anymore -- since you have TWRP.
Just be sure to untick the recovery partitions when DL PARTITION flashing the KDZ.
But first bootloader unlock and root.
Makes great sense, thanks.
Do you know if there's a Verizon Oreo ROM somewhere around XDA? I found this, but I think it may be Nougat: https://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-v30/development/vs996-verizon-v30-10c-kdz-download-afh-t3700356

I'm running it. All vz services work, including vvm.
That worked just fine, but unfortunately the SMS problem still persists! So I can send MMS messages fine, but when I send SMS, it will show as "Sending" until it gives up and shows it as failed message, although sometimes the messages are received. It does this with both the US998 ROM and the Verizon ROM. :-\
Any ideas what I could check or try?

Right now I can't find the "legacy" size Textra post, but I found other people decided the issue was Textra and that other texting apps worked OK. Have you checked to see if other texting apps like the ones mentioned below will send out sms?

Shoey,
About a month ago I decided to switch to the Android Messages (formerly Google Messages) app as I preferred the look of it more. So far I've had NO issues with it, and they even too (like Pulse) just started offering a desktop messaging option as well, which I use daily and love! Very easy to set up. Just make sure to have the app fully installed on your phone first before setting up the desktop option.

I'm on Verizon using Textra with a converted LS998 to US998. When I use the VS996 firmware I have no issue with SMS and MMS. When I'm on US998 firmware SMS is fine but MMS borks. You have to manually configure your APN settings. See screen shots. You can also try toggling airplane mode.
Yeah, I've tried Textra, Pulse, Android Messages.
If I use the Verizon messaging app and turn on WiFi calling then it seems to work, but as soon as I'm off of WiFi the SMS messages won't send. Very confusing!
I wonder if there's something that could have gotten corrupted or needs to be cleared or flashed again. I've done airplane mode, restarted, factory reset, flashed the Verizon KDZ via LGUP.
In case it's any clue, I've also noticed my cell signal will just drop suddenly, even in spots with good coverage. I'll go from a solid 4G connection to an X or bars with no 4G, and the phone will say "Emergency Calls Only."
Tried all the usual stuff of restarting, factory reset, re-flashing, etc.
Would love any suggestions!

Thanks ChazzMatt. I just tried that, selecting PARTITION DL in LGUP, then selecting only modem when flashing VS99620d_01_0614_ARB00.kdz.
The text message sending problem still persists, but I'll see if the intermittent signal thing is solved.
I don't know a lot about how this works, but is there any way certain necessary Verizon bands or frequencies could be disabled/not active?
Still trying to solve this, so if anybody has any suggestions please toss them out here!
No solution yet, but I did notice that the issue goes away after making a phone call.
After a while, I completely lost all service. After restarting the entire process (starting back from Frankenstein) it is all working again.
I recently purchased a V30 H931 and was hoping to use it on Verizon.
I followed the guides and Frankensteined it to US998 and unlocked the bootloader. Had no problems with that.
MMS, calls and data work just fine.
SMS both sends and receives, but the phone never thinks it sends it successfully. It gets stuck on sending and eventually shows a "failure" prompting me to retry.
Tried rebooting, multiple messages app, removing SIM (still works fine in my old phone) and even flashed the stock Verizon rom. Never once has it realized that the SMS is sent successfully.
Was I wrong in my research that I could fully convert the H931 to work on Verizon? Does anyone have ideas or has anyone fixed this problem?
If I need to return the phone, is it possible to lock the bootloader and get it back to stock H931?
Thanks for any help.

What app are you using?
Also, have your tried flashing the VS996 20D stock firmware rom in TWRP?

Yes I've flashed this: https://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-v30/development/rom-lg-vs996-20d-rom-t3830564
Still didn't work.
I've tried multiple messages apps including the two that come default with the above rom Meesaging, Verizon Message+ and I have also tried Googles Messages app.
I appreciate your help. Thank you.
Edit: I found this thread with no real solution for OP: https://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-v30/help/sms-stuck-sending-using-frankenstein-t3823757
I may just have to return the phone and buy a different model. Do you know what the process would be to lock the bootloader and flash stock H931?

After a lot of sleuthing, and some subsequent testing, I found that the default APN settings for MMS messaging is saved in:
\root\data\data\com.android.mms\shared_prefs\com.a ndroid.mms_preferences.xml
Now, there's a lot of other stuff in there, and I didn't feel comfortable changing things around in that file, so I used another program, Shortcut Master Lite, from the XDA forums, to search for those hidden settings.
In ShortcutMaster Lite, I clicked the hamburger (3-dot) button choose App Explorer.
I scrolled down to and clicked on Messaging (com.android.mms)
I scrolled to the bottom and clicked on MmsSprintSettingActivity
I clicked on Launch
There I was able to see what the default MMS settings are. In my case, this was still set to the Sprint URL, https:/mms.sprintpcs.com, and some fancy Gateway and Port.
I changed these values to match up with Verizon's MMS settings, so I set the URL to http://mms.vtext.com/servelets/mms, and then left Gateway and Set Port blank. After saving this, the phone IMMEDIATELY rebooted on it's own. After a brief heart attack, the phone rebooted and .... whaBAM! Both Messaging and Messenger work fine now!
I posted instructions in the Guide section as well. That can be found here.
Thanks for your assistance, everybody.

I allowed a security/software update to install on my phone the other day. Now I am unable to make any calls. It doesn't even connect to voicemail just goes to call ended. My service provider isn't having issues and tech support isn't able to help it seem. I'd like to know if anybody can provide a guide on how to roll back the update.

I called them already and they didn't really help, called service provider too and that didn't really help either.
Completely different phone but I had a nearly identical problem with my Samsung S9 (960U1) on AT&T. Happens fairly frequently, or did. Come to think of it, it's been a few weeks or more, at least, since I've had the problem. Only way that reliably "fixed" it was a complete reset of Network Settings.
