My Galaxy s3 has recently booed into download mode, the phone had died a little before that, so I just decided on taking the battery out. All I got while trying to turn it on is two vibrations and then nothing. the galaxy won't come back on anymore, I tried holding the power button and going in recovery mode. I let my phone charge and tried it in the morning, and all was the same.
Is it possible the battery is defective?
Do you see the charge animation?

So my current phone stopped working so i was going to switch back to my galaxy s2 that has been sitting unused for about 3 months. When i tried to charged it the device will not turn on. The phone heats up when it sits on the charger for sometime. Also if i hook it up to my computer without the battery and hold the power and up/down button i can get to the warning screen about custom os to put it into downloading mode but when I press up to continue the screen just goes black and nothing happen if i press down to restart nothing happens it just goes black and i can hold the power and up/down to get back to the warning screen. The phone was rooted with iscrewd a long time ago before i when to a different phone. I have a usb jig but i cant even get to the warning screen with the battery in. Any thoughts??
You don't say, but I assume the phone was working normally when it was put on the shelf? If you can put your hands on a good I777 battery that is at least partially charged or better yet fully charged, put that in the phone and see if it will boot.
Sitting for three months will completely drain the battery, and this phone is somewhat sensitive to that. At least I have seen quite a number of reports of full discharge of the battery giving the same symptoms of not charging and getting warm.
I don't know what would account for you not being able to go beyond the warning screen with the battery out, especially if the phone was working normally before. The correct button configuration is the volume down button only, when the battery is out. I think the other buttons don't intefere though. Might try with just the vol - being held down and see what happens.
I vaguely remember someone having a problem similar to this, and I think he fixed it by getting the phone into download mode, putting the battery in, and leaving it in download mode to charge the battery. I think after a while he was able to boot the phone and let it finish charging while the phone was on.
This happened to me before. I just bought a new battery on Amazon and it worked just fine.

Hi Guys,
I've been running CM10.1 for several days now and yesterday my phone freezed. I tried to do a reboot by holding the power button. But all it did was turn the phone off. Since then I haven't been able to boot anymore. Nothing seems to work.
I can't get into download mode and I can't get into CWM. Nothing happens when trying to boot, the screen stays black. I've tried charging it for several hours and I've tried leaving the battery out for several hours. Using a JIG does not work either.
I'm afraid that this is the end of my Galaxy S2, but maybe there's some hope.. somewhere.
Okay so I have my Samsung Galaxy S3 for about 2 years now and it's having a lot of problems for the past few months. At first it had the sudden death syndrome (when it suddenly shuts down and having that boot cycle on the Samsung logo) and now it's fine. But 4 days ago I was sleeping and forgot to charge my phone. When I woke up and plugged in the charger it was charging just fine. When the battery indicator shows 100% I tried to turn it on and nothing happen. Just nothing. I plugged in the charger back and still nothing. The screen was completely black. No vibrations. I tried to go into the recovery mode and I can't. I've googled some ways including taking the battery out, pressing the power button for a minute and put the battery back in. Still nothing. I've tried like ALL WAYS to turn it back on. I took my battery and put it in my sister's phone and it worked just fine. So I know it's the hardware problem and I know it's not the power button too because I tried to turn it on by using the charger (plug in the charger and pressing the volume down and home button) and still nothing. I don't know what to do because I have so many things in my phone and I don't want to do any factory reset (if possible) by sending it for repair. But if I still have some options please tell me otherwise I have to get a new phone although I really need my old phone back. Thanks.

Does download mode work? If yes have you tried to flash a stock firmware?
Usb jig or repair centre, given the other problems you're best off getting a new phone.
Hello!
So today my phone had 4% left on battery, I switched it on to show my friend a photo and suddenly the screen turned into so many different colors and just stuck there. I took the battery out and turned it back on, tried to turn it on with no results at all, not even the looping samsung galaxy SIII screen! I thought it was the battery so I put it on charge, but nothing shows; no red LED nor battery screen. I took my battery out for 10 minutes, turned it back in and tried to charge it again, also nothing. I used a different charger, also nothing!
My phone is rooted with the newest CM 11, Kitkat.
Anyone has an clue what just happened? What was that colorful screen?
I would really appreciate some help, thanks!

We have 2 things here:
1. The phone turns on but no screen.
2. The phone don't turn on.
If it is No.1 then you can boot into download mode and flash stock it is hard but possible. Try holding power+home+volume down for 5-8 seconds and then press the volume up key(try volume down to not sure about this one)and then connect the phone to your PC and see if odin recognize and then flash stock and if you are lucky it will get fixed. I got such a problem with my friend's phone and fixed it this way. If it turns on and stock didn't help and if it won't turn on the only way I recommend is to give your phone to a Samsung service center.

Guess I'm sending it to repair, the method didn't work, Odin didn't recognize it
Thanks anyway!
Hi. Last night my phone turned off after the battery was fully discharged. When I get home, I plugged it to the charger - instead of showing a charging battery animation, I got a white screen with noise on it (dark dots and scratches). I thought the phone has crashed, so I took off the battery, placed it back, but the phone didn't turn on. Tried recovery and download mode. Tried also a battery from another Galaxy S3. Nothing works. The charging red LED indicator is not lightening, and the phone is not turning on. It looks like it's dead. If there're experts here, could anyone tell me if it's an issue with the voltage IC? I only need advice from an expert, I won't bring the phone to a service, nor buy another one. Wanna fix it by myself! Thanks in advance!:good:
