One of the things I really like about the iphone is how when I play a video from twitter or Facebook is plays back fullscreen? On Android it tends to just play back in the webpage it's on and if you are lucky there is a button to zoom to full screen. Sometimes there isn't a button even.
Is there a hack or setting that will cause the video player on Android to default to full screen?
Thanks!

When using the default YouTube app on my Transformer Prime it frustrates me that the videos always begin in the default small view and require me to select full screen playback through a button. Is there a way to have any selected video automatically open that way system wide, through either an app or a setting I'm missing? I hope what I'm looking for is clear enough through my description.

You haven't missed the explanation of your inconvenience unfortunatelly you missed the forum -> Q & A.
To answer you question: nope, haven't found that setting. Would be a nice suggestion for an update implementation.
I'd be happy if it would continue buffering when I pause and the screen auto locks. Sometimes I have to deal with other things, and I don't want the stupid thing to start completely over.
Trick YouTube app to fullscreen playback
If you're rooted, you can install the Xposed module App Settings and then set your YouTube app Screen(dp) to something like 480x854 to make the app behave like it would on a device with a smaller screen (e.g. phone) - because on a phone YouTube plays fullscreen when you're in landscape mode.
I'm using the HD YouTube app found here but I'm guessing you can make this work with stock YouTube also.
The only caveat is that you lose the collapse button to get out of fullscreen - but you can always rotate to portrait if you want access to more info.
Hope this helps, and here's my screenshot of the app setting for YouTube HD (on TF201):
I'm curious as to what the best performing video players people are using with cm10. I'm currently running the SGT7 cm10 rom. I've found that mx player has the best compatibility but unfortunately it doesn't run full screen (the area where the status bar resides remains black with grey dots where the soft buttons are located.) Dice player runs full screen but is pretty buggy with this rom, it refuses to play many videos or force closes after a few minutes. The VLC beta runs full screen but crashes like Dice player too often. Suggestions?

Click to collapse
there should be a setting to hide the status bar when an app tries to go full screen.

I dug around in my settings and realized I had the "force tablet ui" button checked, which was causing the status bar ghosts. MX player works as usual now.
Hi, all
I watch a lot of HTML5 videos with captions in Chrome. The problem is, if I try to go full-screen, the captions are not displayed. Chrome itself supports them, though.
So, how do I change the video player that is used for full screen mode?
I tried clearing defaults for both Chrome and Gallery apps, didn't work. The best I could do is sing Dolphin browser with full screen mode on - but the screen buttons won't go away, and there are a lot of bugs.
Whenever I click on a video and then enter full-screen mode with it, the video just plays in portrait mode, leaving the entire top and bottom dark. So I have to unlock the screen orientation, go in to landscape mode before I can watch the video in true full-screen. This happens in Chrome and many other browsers I have tried in the play store, the only browser that have a different web-video player is UC browser. It does all that I need when I watch a video (gestures, automatic landscape fullscreen...) but I don't like the browser itself. I prefer Chrome for browsing but not when it comes to watching embedded videos.
So is there anyway to "change" the default web-video player in Chrome? Or is it just impossible? I am using a Nexus 5 btw.
Shameless bump...
No one... ok...
Hi all...
When I'm playing these, and press home button to get out, the videos keep Playing but the pip is not there.
Neither do they show up on the notification panel.
So to turn the video or the song off, I've to go back and open the app first.
Thanks for your help.
Thanks.
