Pie upate - Huawei Mate 10 Questions & Answers

I was able to download the huawei pie full update zip and data from FF and how do i flash it using fstboot, do i just flash the system or do i have to flash all the partitions within the update.app as its changing to pie from oreo and what are the commands to flsh the partitions, nit sure if it will flash as it is still unapproved and bootloader might deny flashing it i am not sure, any ideas.

I was able to install the ff firmware using beta flashy 0.2 tool and all is well.

Did it wipe all your data?. Hopefully not.

I got the official update on my mate 10 pro
The version is 9.0.0.159
The downside is the camera app seems unstable, and crashes every so often..

Sorry to revive such an old post but wanted to ask you how you used the flashy tool. Did you drop the 2 pie files into the "zips here" folder? Did you need to unzip the pie update files? Another post mentioned unzipping but maybe that was because it was a p20. Did you use the beta pie files or actual non beta files? Has it been able to get normal updates ota since then? Thank you

Success downgrade from oreo to nougat

so...my p10 L29 was messed up after updating to oreo. i upgrade without rebranding, after that, my version shows bla bla bla(dont remember). after searching a lot on website (almost all of them), figure out that B217 firmware is the selution.
actually B217 firmware from ff finder has just 2 files, not 3. so using HWOT8 and change the update binary(with notepad++) you need go to META-INF>com>google>android>update-binary, open update-binary with notepad and delete the line with "echo - - update_package...... update_data public. zip.
after that copy the files to hwota8 > update file and make same process like you do to update.
after that, i rebrand my l29 to c432 and now all works fine:victory:

FF's database was down, it's back up now.
My firmware is the bla-L29 8.0.0.126 and I'm still with the March security patch.
To update, pay the Funkhuawei or wait for the update to arrive?

Was the firmware approved for download? In my bla-L29 8.0.0.126 says that the firmware are not approved for download, although it manages to download using FF itself.

Internal storage, but you'd need to update TWRP to this one which has decryption support: https://forum.xda-developers.com/mate-10/development/huawei-mate-10-pro-twrp-3-2-1-0-t3769904

I'm using this one. Was the first one with an BLA-L09 device. If I place it on the internal storage, won't it be deleted, because I've to wipe all partitions? Sry for so much questions, I only won't brick my phone. Now a lot about this stuff, but each phone is unique and has its own special things to look for.

You don't need to Wipe anything. Internal sd is mounted in /data which is not wiped.
Well, it's either that or use HWOTA to update.
Or wait for firmware to be approved

It's approved for my device. But it should be blocked on the device or I'm wrong. On my last devices, I wasn't able to update the original firmware from the system itself, because TWRP and Magisk were installed.

Yeah, you'd have to restore stock Recovery, and OTA might install (it checksums partitions and if they don't match the update fails)
You could still use Firmware finder to install FullOTA.

I have two Mate 10s, one is the ALP-AL00 and the other is the ALP-L29CC636. Firmware Finder shows that updates are available for both of these devices but when I select to download them the System update says 'No updates'. How do I update them?

As of June Huawei started using https so FF can't send it to System Update. You would have to use HWOTA or TWRP with HuRUpdater.
Thanks ante0
Does that mean I should wait for the official updates from Huawei instead? And does using HWOTA require root?

HWOTA requires unlocked bootloader, same as TWRP.
You could wait, AL usually get updates fast
And FW shown on FF can be beta and test too, so just because a new fw appeared doesn't mean it will be pushed to devices eventually.

Bootloader unlocked, how to update to Android 9?

I unlocked my bootloader, but I can't seem to find a guide on updating to Android 9. My current firmware has xloader 02.
When I bought it a year ago, you could update it without issues with hwota, but from what I see, that is now disabled. Is there a current program or guide that simplifies changing the firmware to an updated one?

Use the tool from here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/mate-10/how-to/firmware-bla-l29-c432-9-0-0-161-t3873835
If you don't yet have root, you can use the EMUI9 beta update tool.
Else you will have to install Magisk first.

You could rebrand before flashing Pie. Don't rebrand while going to Pie, it's usually a bad idea.

If you downgrade using rollback they will wipe though (and only use rollback from January or later if you ever need to downgrade)

Interesting! Tell us a little more about the issues, if you can.
I will have to rethink about update to 10, in this case!
Was it the beta version of 10?
If so, then you should be able downgrade, I suppose.

It was not beta, I had version 9.1.0.350 (C45E1) Tigo
but I saw in previous post that I was emui 10 and I did the process with dload without seeing that I installed the compilation (c432E7) that is different from my region and I think that from there the problems started
i went back through HiSuite 9.1

Install dload emui10 C45's cust&preload.
If not available, a fix would be to rename emui10 dload cust&preload from wrong cust region to right C45 filenames with right vendorcountry name for your device.
You'll end up with a booting device which will work fine for now with wrong region cust&preload until C45's are available.
