I have a Nook Tablet 8GB and I want to install CM7 to make it more functional as a tablet. Does anyone have a tutorial on how to install this from a straight-from-the-box Nook Tablet?

You'll have to include a little more information. Do you want CM7 to be installed internally or do you want it to run from an SD card?

If it runs from an SD will the stock software be replaced? If so, I'd rather just do it internally.

Nope, if you run from the SD card, your stock ROM will not be touched.

Follow the SD VERSION IMAGE directions in this post. It's very simple.

I am using CM7 from SD and it works great, but be careful and read all you can before you do whatever you decided. I tried to use the internal version and I messed it up. That is why am running from SD. Still working on fixing my partitions and such.

I can't get my NT to boot anything from the SD card. I'm trying to use albertwertz's Root SD card software but I can't get it to boot it at all. It will either send me to the factory reset screen or boot normally. I followed his instructions. Any ideas?

Try booting with the USB cable in. For some unknown reason, many people can't boot from SD unless they're plugged into power.

I tried that method. This is a fairly new Nook (about 2 weeks old). Could the software or something have been changed so that it can no longer boot from the SD card?

Is Albert's root card the only bootable card you've tried? Or have you tried the CM7 card and it won't work either?

I can't make the CM7 SD bootable card because I only have a 2GB SD. I've been aiming for an internal install now, but I do need to be rooted, right?

Not necessarily. You can try to make a bootable CWM SD card and just flash CM7 internally from there. It's worth a try: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1446987

I am using a Samsung card. I'm unsure of the class as it came with my cell phone (after checking it is a class 10 card going by the write speeds I've been seeing). I'm not a large consumer of micro SD cards so I don't have a collection. I don't see why the NT couldn't have an SD card reader. I have plenty of those lol.
go to wally world get a sandisk class 4 card you can get 8 gigs or so for around 10 bucks.. cheaper online but wally is faster if your in a hurry. that card is going to give you issues more then likely
Why would a lower class card be better?

It turns out that sometimes random read/write speeds are actually higher on some lower class cards. Here's some reading material if you're interested: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1150369
But honestly, I've found SanDisk to be a very reliable brand. I have a 32GB SanDisk Class 4 that I use just for my NT and am really pleased with it.
Does anyone have any information as to whether or not this device can support 64 GB or even 128 GB sd cards? i know the specs say 32 GB but a lot of devices say that but can support the higher storage cards. if this device can support these higher cards i'm thinking about getting one for a music player. thanks for any info! :good:

I don't think it will support a SD card greater than 32GB.
Tried inserting a 64GB card on Moto G but it failed to detect it.

Yes, 64GB and 128GB SDXC cards work but you will be prompted to reformat them on first insertion (reformat to FAT32/VFAT).

Custom kernels, such as the one that will eventually be included when Cyanogenmod arrives (Provided they include OTG functionality), should allow you to use USB otg just fine.

Unless there is a hardware limitation like on the Nexus 4. If there isn't enough power out then you'd need a powered hub.
Try this. ----> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=52702666

Hi,
CM offers to format the SD card as internal storage. I guess this is necessary to move apps to sd?
Can anybody tell me the pros and cons of that feature?
Any issues with TWRP and a internal sd format?
What about updating / flashing ROM?
Any other issues?
havent tried it, ofcourse it asked me too though, but i did not choose it,
you can go ahead and choose it ON AN EMPTY SD CARD and see what happens and you can probably tell me so that i can give a try:laugh: all the best:good:

Technically, that option formats your SD to be fused with your internal storage. So you wouldn't be needing to "move" the apps anymore. The pro is, you will have a larger internal memory, the cons are; 1. You can't insert your SD in other devices anymore. Only in your phone. 2. Some users reported that they can't access the storage after formatting.
Flashing and updating ROMs should work just fine.

Thanks! Do you know how this is technically realized? Is the sdcard just formatted with some unix file system and than mounted to /data instead of the internal volume?
Or is it really merged with the internal storage by LVM volume or something like that?

It is merged. For example we have 10GB of storage usable and you have a 16GB card, you will then have about 25GB of internal storage.

i don't recommend to use any SD card as internal Card unless Class 10 with capacity 16GB . otherwise keep it external =)

It is a Class 10 Card but with 64GB capacity. Why would the capacity make any difference in this setup?
Is the internal storage faster than a class 10 card?

He was more referring to the class. Because any class lower than 10 would give low performance.

I've done that 1 month ago, I don't remember exact CM13 version (cm-13.0-20161015-NIGHTLY-kiwi.zip or cm-13.0-20161022-NIGHTLY-kiwi.zip). I always update my CM13 by TWRP.
After sd card merge and encryption, TWRP didn't ask about encryption password.
Since, I've gone back : now, my sd card is external and I didn't crypt my phone again.

No error at startup, but TWRP (3.0.2) was unable to mount partitions (it seems quite normal because no password was asked to decrypt partitions). So it was impossible to update CM13, OpenGApps, etc...

Hello,
I have a 64 gb memory card which miui formats to fat32 for use.
I cant put files greater than 4gb on my meomory card.
So, does the custom os like lineage os , cdroid or ressurection remix removes this limitation ? Anyway to remove the 4gb file limit?
Format the sd card as NTFS using a PC. All android devices support NTFS sd cards created by a windows pc.

NTFS format doesnt work. Tried and tested!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Well that's basically SOL then. Only options would be to bite the bullet and use adoptable storage via adb commands to convert to the internal file system

Does any android 11 Rom supports exFAT or 64GB+ Sd Card?

No (for exFAT).
I'm experiencing it now.
Sorry my phone is not xiaomi, it's an ASUS ZF MPM 1. On Custom ROM Colt 7 (Based on AOSP Android 11).
After read some articles on internet that ExFAT would be able to be read by my phone (which are false information! Damn), then,
I just formatted my 512GB Micro SD into ExFAT, and transfer my files (about few hours to do with a class 10 card, USB 3 card reader & ports) into it, on Windows 10 PC.
When I put it back on my phone, the phone forces me to format it first before I can use it as a Portable Storage. Which I know would be aFAT32 again like before. Damn.
Now I have to repeat the time consuming procedures again, put it out from my phone, put it into the USB card reader, copy all the files into my PC storage, re-format the Micro SD Card with FAT32, copy all the files back again into the Micro SD, and then I can use it in my phone.
Damn.
Don't repeat my fault. Maybe there are some phones and ROMs which can use ExFAT, you can try if you want. But IMO to be safe, just format it into FAT32. Yes, with all the limitation of FAT32 LOL.
Oh and about the solution of what you experience, perhaps.. Backup your Card, and then format it, I recommend to format it on PC or "with TWRP' if on your phone. I hope that can solve your problem like mine before.
Good luck

There's Lineage ROM Android 11 based for my Asus phone, but I like this COlt 7 for now. I like Lineage ROM, have been used it on my old phones few times, so
Maybe I'll try it later.
For now, IDK if it is worth enough to change ROM now only to try will I can have exFATcompatibility or not, but maybe some other time I could try.
does anyone know of a smartphone with android that absolutely certainly supports exfat or ntfs?
