Is it still possible to unlock the bootloader? - Honor 9 Questions & Answers

I just received a replacement STF-AL10 honor9 and have been looking at the paid services for unlocking the bootloader. Both FunkyHuawei and dc-unlocker state that the bootloader unlocking service is not available. I was never clear what they did to get the unlock code except that there was a website or database that you have to access. I'm wondering if that site has been shutdown. Regardless, are there any paid services that are still functioning?
Thanks.

Easy way, wait for third party seller to reopen the service.
Hard way, open device, use testpoint, use paying software DC-Phoenix with STF BoardSoftware and Do Not erase or flashover your oeminfo.
Then read bootloader's code in BoardSoftware firmware.
Then unlock and update.
It's too bad to open a brand new device... Thks huawei for not providing BL code.
It's told huawei India and or Russia may give it to you...

That's fine. It seems right now that none of the paid services are working. I don't know what they do behind the scene, but it seems like the database/web page they use is inaccessible right now.

I checked FunkyHuawei and their bootloader unlocking service is down. Same with Global-unlocking and dc-unlocker. Ministry of Solutions said I would have to downgrade to Nougat before I could unlock (which I don't fully understand why). Are there any other paid services that are working?
Thanks.

They have an interesting message on their web site:
WE ARE TESTING THE HUAWEI BOOTLOADER CODES NOW: AFTER TEST RESULTS ORDERS WILL BE PROCEED
Sounds like they're having issues retrieving the unlock codes.

Looks like the bootloader unlock service offered by FunkyHuawei might be back up:
https://funkyshop.club/unlockcodes
This is a new page that I haven't seen before and it's significantly more expensive ($127 USD). I've sent an email to their support to see what the actual status is.

127 USD... Not worth, it would be worth on something expensive like the Huawei Mate line... For this price you are better off selling the h9 and getting something developer friendly. If you insist on using custom ROMs just stay away from Huawei/Honor.

Chevron Labs not able to unlock my Lunia 800

Hi Guys,
I get the "phone is ignoring us" when I try to unlock the phone that I bought SIM free from Phones4US. I have tried everything including resetting the phone. I did see on the Chevron blog though that someone did get theirs unlocked today.
Any ideas? Do I need to get a retail Nokia ROM and have it installed first??

Thanks, it seems you have the very latest firmware update. I had talked with Nokia because my MMS was not working and there was no "network set up" available in Marketplace. She said I could not avail of this until I had the new firmware and she said that it was being rolled out now. So far I have not received this. Maybe when I do get it I will be able to unlock then. If not I hope Heathcliffe will come up with a new retail ROM for all of us

Thought that's what you mean't. I did it and it mad eno difference. Phone still ignoring the request by Chevron. What to do?
Did you try opening the Developer Registration tool and see if you get the "Unable to connect to phone" error?
If so try with a different USB cable, reboot your computer and phone and try again.
If that doesn't work, go on the AppHub forum and ask there.
If you are still unable to get it to work, Rafael Riviera(one of the guys behind Chevron WP7) have stated they will refund anyone with this issue.

Guys,
Just to let you know I finally got my Lumia unlocked. I had the W.I.N.C.O. mini SDK series on my PC and had been using it but it seems that it is it that would not allow the unlock. I uninstalled it and installed the full MSFT version and had no problems.
Ok, question:
When you talk about unlocking, you mean that to eliminate the lock that the carrier has on the phone and that forces me to use exclusively that carrier?

No.
This is developer unlocking which allows sideloading of homebrew apps.
You want a sim unlock (GSM) which would allow you to use sim cards from other carriers rather than being locked into one.
Check ##782# in the dialer and it will tell you if it's definitely sim locked or not.
See this thread and this link.

What's your build number in Settings - About?
If it's low enough you might be able to use DC Unlocker to get an unlock code ($4)
The other one I find is Global Unlocking Solution, it costs $22 to get an unlock code. This one is for phones where DC method was patched (Security date later than May 2018, depending on cust)

Last it worked was 8.0.0.142 (for C432), but you can only downgrade to 8.0.0.146 due to updated bootloader. :/
Well, you can do this but the price is about the same and you remove warranty completely and potentially risk breaking the glass back of your phone:
Open back of phone using a hairdryer, opening tool and suction cup.
Use a Phillips #000 screwdriver to remove protection.
Short testpoint to shield and flash bootloader using DC Phoenix.
Flash board firmware using DC Phoenix.
Boot to board firmware.
Use HCU to get unlock code.
Repair IMEIs and everything using HCU.
Flash back 8.0.0.146 or higher using service firmware.

If you have the U.S. variant, it's locked and doesn't appear under normal circumstances. If you have a global variant, you can try connecting to a WiFi network and/or logging in to a Samsung account, sometimes that makes it appear.

Nope, Samsung locks the bootloader (OEM Unlock) on U.S. phones, they've been doing this for a few years now. They are meant to be locked forever, the SamPWND service I linked on my answer above offers unlocking it if you are on a specific update. Anything newer is impossible.

I have this one actually 12.0.0 (SD1A.210817.036, Nov 2021) and system update is saying its upto date.
The .037 is the one with the fingerprint sensor update so I don't think it's a bad idea to update, however, I'm not familiar with how hardware from different regions are differentiated so the OTA may not play well with your hardware if it is intended for different regions.
It may be best to research independently or wait for a more informed person to chime in.

Yeah, I'm assuming there is some sort of region flag for Japan as it's required that phone cameras make a noise there. You'd have to find a way to change the flag I'm assuming.
Sorry, I was assuming that flashing the OTA would be a long-shot and should have mentioned that.

This is what he said:

You have to change the sku... It's a requirement for the shutter sound in Japan. So you have to basically truck the phone into thinking it's not from Japan..nothing else will work.. if you root you might be able to do that

Converting Japanese Pixel 6 to Global version
I live in a country with no Pixel availability and end up purchasing one in Japan. Limitations(mostly forced shutter and screenshot sound) on Japan phones can be pretty annoying, so I researched a bit on how to remove those. Search leads me to...
forum.xda-developers.com
Just want to confirm that changing Model ID to outside Japan make it work.
You need to unlock, root your phone, extract devinfo partition, replace the model id using hex editor, and re-flash (using dd command) to devinfo partition.

Question Honor 50 Retail Demo

good evening everyone, I am testing an Honor 50 Retail Demo. I have the opportunity to buy it at a reduced and advantageous price, do you know if there is a way to flash an official firmware and turn it into a sales phone rather than an exhibition phone? the phone, however it is functional in all its parts, has only some settings blocked due to this Retail Demo. Thank you very much, I look forward to any news.

I live in Italy, but I called Honor today and they replied that it is possible to flash an official firmware, but they cannot tell me where to download it or do it through assistance, because doing this will lose the warranty.
Hey !
Have you found a way to flash an official firmware ?
I have a demo unit that I would like to flash but there is no way to find a European firmware. Honor like Huawei, seems to lock everything.
no, I'm sorry I haven't found a solution I'm using it so even if it's limited it takes away some settings but in the end it doesn't matter.
It's okay thank you !
I'm still looking for a way to get an official firmware so if I find something I'll let you know.
I am also looking for a solution but there is no way or way to what I understand .... Honor does not publish the firmware like Samsung or Apple .... huge mistake
