OEM unlocking seems to be missing in my developer options. Am I missing something? Can anyone shed some light on this for me?
If you have the U.S. variant, it's locked and doesn't appear under normal circumstances. If you have a global variant, you can try connecting to a WiFi network and/or logging in to a Samsung account, sometimes that makes it appear.

Nope, Samsung locks the bootloader (OEM Unlock) on U.S. phones, they've been doing this for a few years now. They are meant to be locked forever, the SamPWND service I linked on my answer above offers unlocking it if you are on a specific update. Anything newer is impossible.

I have a Sony Ericsson X10a phone from Canada's wireless provider Rogers. and I've tried unlocking it by buying a code from one of the unlocking sites out there, (am I allowed to say the sites' name?!) but it didn't work! They told me I had to check the attempts and whatnot, so they refused to give me my money back.
I followed this tutorial (below) but it didn't work out for me. and I have a feeling that Rogers locked this phone so damn good it can't be unlocked.

Here is new X10flash for Firmware 2.1 Version (old 1.6 Firmware can not be flashed with this at the moment).
Windows 7/Vista Users should diasable UAC!!
Download Flasher: (Update 14.11.2010) GUI VERSION!!!

HOWTO for Flasher here:

You will see that there is a new Folder "firmware" the firmware files must be inside this folder!
Download Firmware:

You have to wipe your USERDATA !! This is important, otherwise you will enter Bootloops etc.
Also be sure SEUS is NOT running! (But at least it should have detected your phone once)
THIS FIRMWARE IS ONLY FOR X10 NOT FOR MINI (PRO) or X8 !
But the flashtool should be capable of flashing all Xperia Series now!
If someone decrypts the Rom you can try it

Any chance I can format, update/upgrade, and "sim" unlock my phone?

Hi.
You've debranded your phone, but simlocking is different, and there is no free way at the moment, so you'll need to have a browse of the numerous unlock threads to see which services people have used and decide for yourself.
And if you've been ripped off post the name of the company so others can avoid them.

So debranding the phone won't unlock it and you say "there's no free way atm."
and what do you mean by services?
Do you mean unlocking sites and/or paid programs?
The site is cellunlocker.net but I don't know if the code would've worked if I had enough attempts, but I still doubt that the code sent to me is genuine!
any chance of formatting the phone so I can have 5 or 10 new attempts?!

Because I've read numerous threads on it over the last 6 months of being a member here. Loads of people have successfully unlocked their phones, the problem is however they've all had to pay. As for the Cellunlocker, some HERE have said it worked for them, so not sure why it didn't for you, and you'll find other suggestions HERE

Well, his codes are manufacturer codes not carrier ones. If you check other sites the price is between $35-$40 for the Xperia X10. I have tried many sites with no success. But Lancez has provided me with the correct codes within 10 days and they worked from the first attempt. You can also read the review about his service from other members who used it on the same thread I gave you earlier. I have unlocked two X10a's through him with no problem.

$20 from here for Rogers x10a (That's what I am and what I got unlocked)
Confirmed worked. Got my code within 2 days.
If you don't know, you need to put in a sim card that ISNT rogers in order for it to ask you to input your unlock code. Perhaps your code actually does work but you didn't put it in the right place? It took me a while to figure this out

I just received a replacement STF-AL10 honor9 and have been looking at the paid services for unlocking the bootloader. Both FunkyHuawei and dc-unlocker state that the bootloader unlocking service is not available. I was never clear what they did to get the unlock code except that there was a website or database that you have to access. I'm wondering if that site has been shutdown. Regardless, are there any paid services that are still functioning?
Thanks.

Easy way, wait for third party seller to reopen the service.
Hard way, open device, use testpoint, use paying software DC-Phoenix with STF BoardSoftware and Do Not erase or flashover your oeminfo.
Then read bootloader's code in BoardSoftware firmware.
Then unlock and update.
It's too bad to open a brand new device... Thks huawei for not providing BL code.
It's told huawei India and or Russia may give it to you...

Sounds like they're having issues retrieving the unlock codes.
Looks like the bootloader unlock service offered by FunkyHuawei might be back up:

This is a new page that I haven't seen before and it's significantly more expensive ($127 USD). I've sent an email to their support to see what the actual status is.

127 USD... Not worth, it would be worth on something expensive like the Huawei Mate line... For this price you are better off selling the h9 and getting something developer friendly. If you insist on using custom ROMs just stay away from Huawei/Honor.
So to use this, you will need to be bootloader unlocked, magisk perma rooted, and twrp installed, DM Verity Disabled this is a must!!(its always good to make a nandroid before making any changes on your phone). What this will do is more or less provision your Lg G8 to your Desired Carrier, it will also let you change your apns, so you have volte working and also the data indicator will change to match the carrier. WIfi calling i have not been able to get working, i personally do not use it. .
*Copy the files manually, it seems flashing them directly is causing unforeseen issues*
1.Extract to Content of zip to Sdcard
2.Make a copy/backup of your own files apns.xml,,custom_apk_list.xml,telephony.xml inside /product/op/config and cust.prop from /product
3.Copy and paste the files from my zip to:
apns.xml,,custom_apk_list.xml,telephony.xml to /product/op/config
cust.prop to /product/op
make sure permissions are 644.
4.Reboot your device it should now be provisioned to your Desired Carrier.
