Hello there!
I own a Xiaomi Redmi Note 4. It works quite well but I want to flash a custom ROM. Before I can do that I have to unlock my phone. To do this I must connect my phone to the computer. This is where the trouble begins.
A few weeks ago, I replaced the display because it was broken. I really really took care to avoid doing any harm to the phone - and I think I did a pretty good job. The new display works flawless, like if there was never an issue with it.
BUT: Today I connected the phone via USB - and my computer won't recognize it anymore. I get a message from Windows, telling me that the USB device was not recognized and I should connect the device again. My phone also doesn't show me the USB options like before (charging, data transer). To solve this problem i already tried:
- another USB port
- another USB cable
- another PC
- phone reset
- uninstall and reinstall driver in the device manager
The device manager of Windows gives me the following output at the USB device properties:
"Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)
An error occurred while requesting the USB device descriptor."
I don't know whats wrong, but I can live with it. The question is: can I still unlock and flash my phone without USB?
I have the same issue and my phone charges only in TWRP
me too, i have the same problem, i change the usb hub, flat,...bat still not working!
I have same problem. Did anyone found solution?
for enabling OTG, root needed
run adb shell, use any terminal app,
Code:
su
setprop persist.sys.oem.otg_support true
this only enables OTG support.
USB MTP, ADB support not working. (phone usb to computer connecting issue)
I think switching to stock rom will solve this.

Yeah, so i've read plenty of topics about USB problems, but none gave me the
anserw.
I'm running Villain ROM 3.0. I just cant connect my phone to the computer (Mac).
It work well before also after flashing Villain.
What i tried:
1. connecting my phone without usb debuging ->phone gives the sound and report in the notification bar : "MTP - initializing" then "USB Connected, MTP-connected" But it does not gives a connection with my mac.
2. Connecting my phone with usb debuging ->phone gives the sound, but nothing happens. nothing in the notification bar neither on the computer. It's strange becouse before it was making the same sound and giving me the info in the notification to connect.
3. I've also tried KIES air it works fine. i can see my phone content, but when im trying to send one file (130mb) there is no reaction to this.
Also some time ago i was able to get usb working by simply choosing usb debuging and restarting phone.
But now i have no acces to my storage
Please help
I have a similar problem.
When I connect my SGSII to my PC (with USB Debugging On) I see 2 Removable Drives in Windows' Explorer. If I click on either one I get the "Please Insert Disk". If I connect to the same USB with USB Debugging off, then Kies Starts but does not connect.
Now the weird bit, if I do the same thing in the next USB port, then everything works fine.
Going back to the first USB slot then the problem reappears.
The 2 USB slots are next to each other and go back to the same controller on the motherboard. I have removed Kies and reinstalled Kies. I have uninstalled all the drivers. I have even changed the USB cable. When I plug a USB External Hard Drive into either USB, it works fine.
Maybe the phone just likes the one connection per computer. I'll have to test that out in my work's PC.
Update:
managed to get a microUSB cable and tested it on my work's PC. Exact same situation. Both PCs run Windows XPpro.
Has anyone else noticed this?
Now, when you said that, i checked with my second usb por, and everything works fine .
So thanks for your help. One working with sgs2 usb port is enought for me
I have tried multiple times to install the USB drivers for my Optimus T (LGP509TN) running CyanogenMod 7.1 (6.5.8). I've tried installing, uninstalling - tried using the LGmobile agent to install... 5 of the 7 install fine but the LGE Android Platform USB modem and the USB Mass Storage Device fail. (see attached image called "usb installation")
When I turn on USB tethering, another USB installation routine runs and fails. (see attached image called "after turning on USB tethering". In Device Manager, I get a bunch of exclamation marks. (see attached image called "Device Manager".
USB storage actually will work - but takes a long time to kick in - and often crashes. Same with USB tethering. I've tried numerous different USB cables so that's not an issue.
Although I have an LGP509TN, I'm not sure if I should be installing LG509 drivers or LGP500 (as I'm running CyanogenMod 7.1 for LGP500). I'm not sure if there actually is a difference between the two. I've tried both and get the same issue.
Any direction would be sincerely appreciated.
Thanks,
Dave
Hi ,
I am also finding same problem. installed cyanogenmod
I took back up in ROm manager but not in recovery mod.
LGE android USB Modem fails to install.
Rest things are installing and working fine.
Help me out if you have found the soultion.
For you what i suggest is.
1. uninstall LG united drivers through control panel.
2. Re install it and turn on USB Debugging mode in your phone and connect it.
Everything will get installed. But not sure of LGE Android USB MOdem. IF you get soultion let me know even
I've tried everything that's been suggested. I've tried many different versions of drivers. Uninstalled, reinstalled.... Sometimes I'm even getting the Blue Screen of Death on my laptop when trying to connect the phone using USB. Wireless tether continues to work flawlessly. It's simply the USB connection that doesn't seem to want to cooperate.
I'm starting to think it might be a hardware issue - except that everything else with the phone works perfectly. I'm also going to buy a couple of new USB cables to try to determine if it might be a faulty cable.
1. Turn on USB Debugging mode
2. Connect USB
3. Then drivers stopped installing, turn off USB Debugging mode, but do not disconnect usb cable.
4. It will install some drivers and says all OK
5. Turn on USB Debugging mode (do not disconnect usb cable), and all drivers will be installed.
This is my method, and it worked for me.
Thanks for the instructions. The challenge I face is that the 2 devices never complete. (See screenshot.) If I close the dialogue, it tells me of the failure. When I switch on USB Debugging, it doesn't connect.

Experiencing similar problems with getting the USB drivers required for native tethering installed successfully. Running Windows 7. A walkthrough of clearing any existing drivers then reinstalling the proper ones might help. I've tried uninstalling via the control panel, system, devices area, but a complete purge/deletion of the drivers might be needed. Any pointers to a proven way to do so would be appreciated.
dude this happens to me week ago
first tell me are you running .32 kernals ??
if yes then flash it once aganin
or use .35 kernals it's best for cm7 series
Hi!
I have searched XDA forum and other forum concerning LineageOS. But I have not found a solution.
My latest experiments were with installation of the adb interface on windows. At first, this worked well and I got full massstorage access. The Galaxy and its both memories did show up in Windows Explorer (like in old ages).
At the next restart of Windows (Win 7 64-bit Pro) when I connected my phone, Windows immediately did install the samsung drivers again. And since that things got even worse: No even the MTP and PTP Mode did not work, so that the Smartphone does not show up at all in the Windows Explorer!
At F-Droid, I have found an app, called USB Mountr. I tried this, but without any effort.
In the device manager of Windows I can see an „Android Composite ADB Interface”. It tells, that the device would work OK.
Now I am stuck with this and I hope, someone will help me, to activate usb massstorage access.
BTW: I have flashed my Galaxy S2 with Heimdall, running on Ubuntu. Heimdall on Windows 7 did not work, because of libusb error -12.
Latest status:
I have uninstalled the app USB mountr and did reboot the phone. Now the USBconnector is only active for charging the battery. I even get no connection in PTP or MTP mode.
Then I have deactivated USB debug mode and ADB. did a reboot, reactivated ADB and USB debug etc. and did further reboot the phone but with no success.
USB connection is nearly dead and cannot have connect with LUBUNTU Laptop. On Win 7, I get the signal tone, which is typical for connecting an USB device. The GT.i9100 shows up in Explorer but cannot be connected. Device manager tells me, that it is an Android device and all would be OK.
As a work around I am using MyPhoneExplorer on Win-7 and KDEconnect for Ubuntu.
Please can anybody tell me, what I should do, to get back at least USB connection in MTP or PTP mode???
I have the exact same problem.
I did notice, that after first boot, there was a message (several times) the MTP daemon/service stopped working (Crashed ?)
Does anyone else encounter this ?
Did anyone else resolve this ?
(Currently I was only able to get/send files to the device via BT, which is slow, annoying,
and a lot of work moving files to their required places after transmitting over BT)
Quick Fix for stuck on boot
This probably isn't the right place but you said there weren't many solutions. If your phone randomly gets stuck on boot you need to Delete Everything including system, factory data reset, flash ROM again with ADB, go through setup. The reason it probably hanged is because you installed an old version of SuperSU Binary or because you flash OpenGapps before setting up phone.
Hope this works
P.S Sorry for the late reply
Hi,
My phone just starts into fastboot after a failed setup. I'm trying to recover it but it isn't being detected by my pc. I've tried a lot of USB cables and it is not working.
Even without the properly drivers it should appear at Windows Device Manager, right?
It appears that it is a hardware problem. Before that I've been unable to connect it with my PC, and I've ordered a USB board replacement. I've aleady replaced it, but it is not working.
Thanks.
Try with a deep flash cable or disconnecting the battery and connecting it again
Hi! This is my first post
I'm working on a game in Godot engine and for one-click-deploy I need my device to be accessible via adb.
I have already managed to use this with a different device and an older version of the engine, but my OnePlus 5T will not show up.
I've tried finding some drivers for it, but no go.
Everything works over USB: tethering, media transfer, but not debugging.
I have the developer mode enabled on my device, and when I connect it, I get a notification that USB debugging is on. However my Linux machine doesn't recognize that.
Have anyone had similar issues? I couldn't find any information about this yet.
I think I've accidentally solved it.
Once I have run `adb devices` as root - the phone was listed and I got a notification on the phone asking if I want to pair USB debugging with the PC. I yet have to test if the one-click -deploy works now, but I gues it will.
