so i am trying to restore to an old back up but every time i do it it takes me to the Android System recovery. I have tried the following from the system recovery reinstall packages>then backup and restore>restore> and i tried with the following backups: 10-18-10_JI6_Lag_Fix, 10-29-10_Bionix_Voodoo, 11-02-10_Fusion_Voodoo. i even disabled voodoo tried to restore again and nothing it keeps sending me to Android recovery system. i would have to use Odin and start all over again, whats the purpose of a backup if i cant get it to work. any ideas?
p.s. i also took out battery and put it back in and took me back to Android recovery system.
EDITk so i tried to go back to stock (JI6) and no luck, on the Odin i get RESET (in blue) the phone resets and goes back to Android system recovery. i tried to reboot and nothing only goes back to system recovery the only time i get PASS (in green) is when i disconnect the phone.
what am i to do i am freaking out. i am downloading JFD but i am worried it will happen the same thing, any ideas?
Use the all in one ji6. Odin zip in the stickie. Then try to flash a different. Rom.
Is your phone Loki? Use Odin. You'll be Thor!

Usually takes about 10-15 minutes per the readme in the Official Firmware Odin Thread.
edit: I used Odin 1.3 on my machine (Win7 Pro 64-bit) when I went back to stock (instead of the v1.0 in the thread). The newer 1.53/1.7 releases weren't out yet...

EDIT: after hours of sweating and thinkin i would have to get a new phone i was finally able to get my phone of the Android system recovery by flashing Eugenes Froyo That does not Brick the reflashing JFD. But my original question is : trying to restore to an old back up but every time i do it it takes me to the Android System recovery. I have tried the following from the system recovery reinstall packages>then backup and restore>restore> and i tried with the following backups: 10-18-10_JI6_Lag_Fix, 10-29-10_Bionix_Voodoo, 11-02-10_Fusion_Voodoo what is the proper way to restore a backup and is it worth is cause in my case it did not work.
EDIT: well i got my answer on how to back up, it seems that i need to back up/restore with voodoo disable. That was my mistake, all the back ups i had were with voodoo enabled and when i went to restore i didnt disable it but it would not have matter since i did the back ups with voodoo enabled. It would have been a good idea to advise people that when doing their back ups to disable voodoo first and when restoring them to do the same, this would have avoided a lot of lost time and frustration. Now i have to go back and redo everything again and remember which apps i had and reinstall them. Lesson learned and hope this helps. (thanks to jdkackley for the insight)
I went in Odin from my stock Vibrant because I had lost my root. I tried to start over and tried to revert it back to stock, which lead to me getting the BSOD. I figured out how to get back into download mode, but I'm stuck in Odin now.
I'm in the stock rom...so I don't want to try and put that back into Odin. I just want to get back to having a stock phone so I can try and upgrade to 2.3.
So, I'm kind of in a situation where I don't know what exactly I need to do to get my phone back to working. I'm sorry if there's another topic like this but I couldn't find one, so I apologize in advanced if I totally missed it.

Read that.
And at first I thought your phone had a BSOD

Did you download stock ICS from asus? http://support.asus.com/Download.aspx?SLanguage=en&m=Eee+Pad+Transformer+Prime+TF201&p=20&s=16
There is no downgrade though. To do that you have to use the unlocker tool on that site to downgrade
Hi, is there any way to create backup from my stock factory set up firmware before I install new one? Let's say I got 2.2 Froyo on my 5830. Just unpacked it and I want create backup of factory firmware to get it back if I want. I'd like to instal few new ones but if those won't work for me I'd like to have Froyo back and all factory settings. I don't care about warranty just want to go back if upgrade won't satisfy me

hi all its been a while since ive been on the boards because ive been running rooted stock deodexed rom. i havent flashed in a year or so but just recently my settings have stopped.
i continually have been getting this message instantly after ancelling out the message. i cannot get past the select language option. theres no escape.
I couldn't even backup my current rom. so i did a battery pull and rebooted into recovery to flash different roms. I've tried dn3 which was the last rom i had saved to my sd card, and miui7. both yielded the same results of the same message about the settings has stopped. its obvious something has went bad over time. i have done nothing but use it as a phone. no flashing or anything. is there something i need to flash in order to troubleshoot this issue? i do not have the money to obtain a replacement through assurion. also my recovery wouldnt let me restore my 1 backup on my sd card. so is there anything i can do from scratch? any settings zips to flash? Odin? ive searched boards and nothing specific to my device (I605). please help

I'm assuming you are still on the 4.1.2 bootloader, since you were able to flash miui7 and dn3.
If something has gotten corrupted, you could try Odin'ing the stock recovery back onto the device by following the directions on this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=53624921
After getting the stock recovery on the device, do a factory reset and wipe cache in the stock recovery. Then you can use ODIN to reinstall CWM/Philz or TWRP (whichever recovery you were using previously). Hopefully you have an old backup you could restore... or you can set up your ROM again from the start after rebooting back into the system.
If worse comes to worst and wiping in the Stock recovery doesn't fix things...sounds like you may have to Odin back to stock 4.1.2, and then reroot with CASUAL and start over again. Droidstyle put together a good guide on how to restore the phone back to stock 4.1.2... you can find his guide here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=34891181. I think the 4.1.2 firmware link is down, but you can grab it from Sammobile.com.
You probably know... but don't flash the official Stock 4.3 or 4.4.2 Firmware onto the phone because there's no current bootloader unlock methods for those..... 4.1.2 is the last Android version for our I605's that has a "do it yourself" bootloader unlock method.
