Hello
2 days ago I got a T-mobile MDA from a friend. Only the MDA and a cradle. It had not been used for at least half a year. At first I could not make it work as it did not react to the stylus on the touch screen. But after some resets it slowly came on, and was fairly working (slow sometimes)
As I wanted English SW, I downloaded one and installed. After some time the problem came again, and I decided to switch back. Then it stopped working again.
Sometimes I can get to the calibrating touch screen, but then it stop reacting.
I read about similar problems on this website, but I cannot install the file tpenable.exe until I get into operating system, and can use the touch pad.
I tried with a couple of ROM-versions, but it seems to have no influence. Still, to me it feels like a SW-problem.
Anyone have some suggestions?

Follow up
Here is a follow up on my problem:
I discovered that if I press hard at the lower quater of the touch screen, sometimes it works again. This points more to a HW problem.
I took the MDA apart a couple of times, but could not see anything wrong. Does anybody know how the touch screen technically works?
I noticed in another post about someone with a similar problem. Do anybody know what exactly he was soldering?

I've had my s6 edge in black for about a week now and since I got it the display doesn't always register my touches or swipes. Whenever I type on the phone it would do a good job and then randomly not register a touch and this goes for all applications. I've also had some problems scrolling through applications sometimes. I would scroll up or down couple of times and it wouldn't register my touch. Does anyone else have this problem? I haven't seen any thread about this yet so I hope some of you can provide me some insight.

Hi !
I had a similar issue, I already post something about it 2 weeks ago. In fact for some reason the responsiveness of my touch screen was great for a few hours, but then it has slowly decrease to a point where the touch capacity stop to respond....
I sent it back to repear and got it today, they remplace the screen (and the battery... Why ?)
Now it works perfectly fine !
Good to know that it can be fixed!
Hi guys,
Recently my Nexus 9 would occasionally give me a messed up screen with around 3x10 mm white or other color blocks piled up the entire screen. And flashing.
Sometimes even with shocking noises like biiiiiizzzzzzzzzzzziibibibibibibibizzzzz
It would disappear if I use the power button + volume up combo to force reboot.
Sorry don't have a photo or snapshot yet. I'll try to take one if that happens again.
That did freaks me out when it happened the 1st time.
It just pops out from no where. I've tried to locate where's the cause or the problem but failed.
I just wonder if this is some sort of hardware failure? It does gets quite hot after the screen is on for a while.
Please if anyone ever had the same issue?
And please please please do tell me it's not something wrong with the hardware!
Thanks.
Have the same issue. Seems to happen more likely when the battery is like 50 % or less.

Sounds like you might have the same problem, in which case: yes, it's a hardware problem...
I have a Redmi 5 phone. I had Global Stable ROM than switched to EU Beta. Currently on 8.7.19. I had a problem on both ROM. Randomly my phone slowdowns. Or at least the screen I don't know exactly. I have to press the screen harder and the response can take 1-2 seconds. Locking and unlocking the phone solves it. What can I do to solve this problem?
I have reported the issue. Please confirm it. We need official answers because many people has this. http://en.miui.com/thread-3446668-2-1.html
OK! I'm pretty sure now it's a hardware issue! Flashed TWRP recovery which also had screen freeze problems!!!!!
Than flashed an old firmware 9.2 something and flashed LineageOS over it. Guess what? SCREEN FREEZE!!! It can only mean one thing: it's a hardware issue. It's also explains why they ignore it: because they don't want to admit it! And because this much people has this problem we can say Redmi 5 is a FAILED PRODUCT. Xiaomi should call back this devices and give back my money immediately. But I think we are just ****. They will not care about it. Maybe only the service center can do something about it but it's a long and unnecessarily procedure. I think best option is to sell the phone and NEVER buy Xiaomi again and to stop recommend to anyone to buy it.

Hi! I have this exact same problem but I ruled out a hardware issue because every time there was slow to none response, if I turned the screen off and on again, it would fix it. I've been looking for a solution and after trying many, many things I've discovered the problem was that I was using the Full Screen option offered by MI, i.e. the option to remove the three main buttons at the bottom of the screen (Back, Home and running apps) and to control the phone with gestures. After going back to the classic three button style, I restarted the phone just in case and I haven't had any more response issues in two days, I think it was a success!!
I also faced this problem for months, specially, after I changed my display as I accidentally dropped my phone a few months ago. Sometimes the screen seems to freeze temporarily, but then -
- turning off and again turning on screen
- swiping the screen (bottom-top) with a little pressure for 1-2 seconds
- slightly bending the device
Any of this three work for me.
What I think:
It's a hardware (display) issue. My newly changed display creates this. But I am quite sure, when my device bends slightly this problem occurs.
Ive been using my phone as normal and dint even fell anywhere my touch stops responding and it works when i lock and unlock my phone then it works normal and touch works perfectly everywhere ive switched between roms and still the same problem please help
It looks like there is a hardware problem with Redmi 5, because I get some random touchscreen taps on mine. It appears and disappears, can't say what's causing it.
