Saving photos to memory card? - Huawei Mate 20 Pro Questions & Answers

Got the memory card but can't save photos to it or find the option, does it exist because so far I feel like I've wasted money on this

On the Mate 9
Used to be in settings/storage set memory card as default storage

Can you select micro SD as default storage for camera?

I was just wondering if you are able to select the sd card in the camera setting to use it as storage for pictures and recorded videos you've taken rather than use the internal memory.
Yes you can set the camera to default store to the SD card.

Yup, once its inserted, it asks you once you first open it. Then just select it.

or you just go into settings from the cam app and select from there
But burst mode shots default to internal regardless if setting is set to sd card. I can only assume to capture so fast without writing to card. A bit annoying.

How do move apps to the ext. Sd card?

I tried using link2sd but the link feature doesn't work and it only moves apps from phone storage to the internal sd.
you really have that many apps that you ran out of room? basic moving is in under managing apps but for performance I'd advise keeping them on phone storage
The new app by 3C that will replace system tuner is called Android Tuner. If you search the play store the free app is first on the list, and you can click on the button for more apps by this developer and see the pro version.
It has a feature to very easily do what you're wanting to do, and it will automate a good bit of what needs to be done to maintain that configuration..
When I read your question I remembered seeing something in the app store description or change log that its the easiest app2sd app to use even though its the most feature packed app on the market.

Where is the Move to SD option (for apps that have it enabled) moving them to, internal or external?
What do you have installed that you're using up 2GB of app space?

Mega 6.3 Galley app barely usable

Is anyone else having any problems here? I have noticed quite a few times I have gone to show someone a photo and the gallery app has been next to useless? Any attempt to scroll through photos results in either a photo being opened, or it goes into 'select' mode with the little squares and green crosses.
Unless I am doing something completely wrong? but having come from S2/Note/Note2 I'd say this was unlikely.

I have used the original Note and the Galaxy Tab 2 and they function the same as the Mega. I never had problems with the stock gallery. Try using other gallery app like Quickpic if you have problems.
Walmart has the Mega for $98.00, 2 yr upgrade!

I had problems with photos and other files, turned out to be my memory card. Some cheap cards give lots of errors.

Try install camera jb+, its include gallery jb+ as well. Its app give you camera and gallery app from jb google edition. For me the gallery is better than samsung stock gallery. But camera is better the samsung camera app, its more crispy. Give it a try on this one.

Thanks for this, I think there is definately something in it, I am using a 32GB Sandisk Ultra Class 10 - I didn't think it was the card as the same applied on the few photos saved on the phone & the google images too, However thought I'd try, so I took the card out and used the 4GB that came with the mega -same problem.
....However I then tried with NO SD card and it was fine! .... even stranger, I have now re-inserted the 32GB card and it is working fine, I wonder if there may be a problem with the contacts either on the card or the phone?

Storage Question

Seems that I have no room left on my phone storage & tons of space left on my SD card. How can I get my phone to put everything on the card, by default??
Would this work: if I hook my phone up to my PC, then just took all the folders on my phone storage, and moved them to the Card. Would my apps & stuff still work or would doing that not be good??

I don't think just copying the apps will allow them to work. You can use Application Manager to move some apps to the sd card.
I went thru all my apps & moved whichever ones I was able to move. But I did that a long time ago. So I still have no room on my phone storage.

Move photos, downloads and any music on your phone to your SD card too. Then in your camera app go to settings and change the SD card as default.
Download the free version of SD Maid and use it to clean up old thumbnails and program files still on your phone from before you moved them.
I once deleted 2gb of photo gallery thumbnails from my phone with this app. You can also see which files are the largest on your phone and SD card to see if you can move or delete anything.
I have this app on my phone, tab, and my kids tabs to keep up with their memory and storage usage.

Thanks, I'm also running out of space, I'll give this a shot.
Tonight I was gonna try to just backup all my.stuff and then start over. I use GO launcher and I saw that I have GO backup on my phone, so I was gonna try to.use that. I started the app & it said my SD card is corrupted or damaged. I included a screenshot of what it said:
So would this be the reason why everything is on my internal storage instead of my card? Or is that message just something I.should ignore??

If you have a card reader unmount your SD card, take it out and try reading it on a computer. If you can read it I would copy everything off and put in a temporary folder on your desktop. Then format the card with the computer and put it back in the phone, format it using the phone and try your back-up again.
If it works put the card back in your computer and copy your files back. Be sure to unmount the card each time. Mine went corrupt once because I didn't.
How do I make the SD card, the default storage for everything? Or is that not possible...

just buy a class 10 or better card, there's nothing else you can do about a slow card..
And Facebook App is a sh** and heavy, use Facebook Lite, it does the same job without using many resources of your phone.
