Battery life concern - Huawei Mate 20 Pro Questions & Answers

Hi i'm just wondering if 5% drain in stanby for 4 hours is normal in the huawei mate 20 pro?

No it's not shouldn't be anymore than 5% at the most. 2 or 3% maybe reasonable.

I've found out that line has 126 number of wakelock is that the problem? And the most app sucker is the android system itself and kernel. I'm confused

I've been cleaning up the cache, but going through the whole thing. I noticed that my android system was the major drainer in gsam battery monitor, it lists what processes are being used in it so I'm going to concentrate on them.
I cleared all the cache manually 1 by 1 and got 43 minutes of screen on time from 100 down to 99%, when I don't clean the cache I get 11mins of screen on time from 100 down to 99%
But in 6 hour's last night I lost 3% standby
Something with the android system keeps waking up the system though. When I first got the phone it was still at 100% after 5 hours. I don't understand why.

Well for some reason after i deleted gsam i lost 0% in a course of 2 hours and 30 mins which is weird right now i'm at 5 hours and 20 mins of sot and 12 hours and 23 mins in with 46% battery left

5% for 4 hours seems normal. My M20P in airplane mode + wifi drains 1% per hour...

battery problem awake while phone is idle

So I have narrowed down why my battery dies even when I'm not using my phone...for some reason when I look at the stats under battery usage, the battery seems to be awake almost 60 to 70 percent of the time, EVEN when I'm not using the phone...my battery lasted a total of 15 hours...I made a 20 minute phone call and screen usage was 25 minutes on lowest settings....4g was on wifi was on...automatic background data was off...gps on....everything else was off....why is the phone waking when it is not being used???? any way to find out?

Have you tried restarting your phone and then tracking the battery usage?
Just my .02 here, I installed Earth HD live wallpaper and the phone went crazy. I keep it plugged into my laptop during the day and noticed that the battery was slowly draining instead of maintaining, not much only a couple of percent. Toward the end of the day I noticed the the battery charge was in the 50% range and dropping fast, you could see the go down so I did a reboot and the charge came back at 4%. So you may want to look at what you have installed and try removing apps that may cause issues. I removed the app and now no problems, I'm also using Beastmod.

Battery Drain {FIX}

Ok guys i found a big problem with battery in xperia sp ! Batter battery stats showed a process called *backup* running all the time in partial wakelocks ! Well i can also say that in 5 hours 7 percent o battery were consumed ! If you have this problem go to settings-backup and reset and uncheck everything ! Then reboot your phone and put in charge untill its 100% leave it there for 1-2 hours
magicaly my android system process from 65% dropped to 30 % (sometimes less)
good luck
That is most likely the backup function from Google. It will create some list with the latest apps installed so that after a reset or reflash the apps will be installed automaticly.
There is no Android System in my list so that is or may not be your cause.

dude this 63 percent and after unchecking backup it went 30 percent and better battery stats sayd a process called backup wass consuming the battery !
Dude, it is perhaps an idea to upgrade to 4.3
And man. 11 hours and 36 minutes. You lost 12% charge only. This means that the only thing that would drain battery most is Android system because it means you barely used screen or apps. It's common sense. So it's no surprise your android system consumed so much

because in fact that android System process is the very first process that android will start compared to regular apps/system apps ,thus it is also the first one you'll see taking much battery percentage in battery stats specially if the phone is fully charged then you pulled out the charger, the battery stats will reset and it will detect which eats most of the battery at that very moment which is obviously the system process, and you'll notice battery drain percentage will change depends on how you use your phone..
for example on the first 5 minutes the android system will take that 83% of battery consumption, the Media is 10%, Cell Stand-bye is 2%, Google Services is in the remaining 5% thus totalling to 100%, but if you play on the next minute (says Asphalt 8) for a few minutes..it will varies accordingly.. The Android System process is cut down to 62%,Media is 12%.Cell Standbye is 2%,Google Services is 8%, Screen is 6%,Asphalt 8 gets the remaining 10% of course totalling to 100%.
If your not using your phone that much then you will always see that android system is the one that eats most of the battery as it is the only heavy process running (compared to MEDIA & Cell Standbye,it is alwasy present)..
LOGIC??the battery drain percentage is a dynamic measurements of whats eating battery at that very the moment and it will varies depends on how you will use your phone the next minute, the percentage per app is the total of drained battery not the whole battery charge. Say for example you've got a charge of 85% left in your battery, The 100% total measurement of per app battery consumed percentage is that of 15% drained in your total full charge of 100%.
Edit: a detailed overview of what @Sadman Khan says.

GSam shows more screen on time!

Today I installed GSam app from Google Play. I have noticed it shows more screen on time than statitics in battery settings. I'm on 86% currently, and battery settings shows 55 minutes, while GSam shows 1 hour and 10 minutes. I was wondering why I'm getting less SOT on KitKat, and now I'm starting to think there's some false reading in default battery settings section. Has anyone noticed this?
Did u restart ur phone or turn it off, the moment you turn it off for like 5 min or more the counting is reset and u lose previous stats. This is not an issue, it's simply how LG designed it.

No I didn't. I charged my phone untill it reached 100%, and then unplugged it from charger.

i have noticed the same thing since update to KK.. strange...
Suddenly, now GSam shows less SOT, than Settings. I'm on 62%, and Settings shows 2h 56min of SOT, and GSam shows 2h 44min of SOT. Strange.

Gsam gets reset as soon as you plugin the phone, but settings don't unless it is full. You might have connected to PC which could have reset Gsam but left the settings same.

I didn't do any connecting or disconecting. I don't know whay this was happening.
Anyways, I just can't get more than 5 hours SOT on my phone. Bluetooth and location are off. Wifi and Data are on. Brightness is on auto, but I'v noticed that auto allways sets it to 20% of brightness. I do no gaming on my phone, only about 30 minutes of phone calls, WhatsApp and Facebook with Syncing on. Is this normal? My battery life on 4.2.2 was definitly better.
gsam is fully configurable. I have changed it's setting to reset only when fully charged. since my phone is rarely plugged in throughput the day and even less rarely plugged in and not charged to full, this made sense.

[Q] Battery level being reported incorrectly, anyone faced this?

My HAM2 is reporting battery level incorrectly. It keeps on going normally till about 35% and then within a few minutes, it drops down to zero and turns off. I have used the battery calibration app to try to reset the battery stats but to no avail, the problem persists. Any help will be appreciated. The ham2 is rooted and TWRP installed.

While not to the same degree, I notice once I get to about 10%, it's a crap-shoot as to whether I'm going to get another hour or so or 10 minutes. The longer I have this phone, the more I notice it's a buggy mess.

That is usually a sign of a damaged battery.
Mine is only week old but I've run down under twenty percent and it's drained and dropped consistently. Might contact Huawei since it has two year warranty.
I'll run mine down today and see what I experience.

27% all seems fine. I'll watch netflix for a while and check again.

19% all battery stats report the same. Still watching Netflix. Seems you may have either done something to cause report errors or it is indeed a faulty battery. Good luck

Try recalibrating your battery, if your phone is reporting incorrect charge. The BMS within the battery might need reset.
When your phone is down to "critical level" (before the phone is ready to turn off) reboot into Recovery Mode. Let phone sit and drain until it empties.
Once empty, let sit for 4 hours. This will reset the "low value".
Charge with phone off to 100%, leave phone off. Unplug and let sit off for another 4 hours. Turn phone back on and use as normal, the battery *should* be recalibrated. The reason for waiting is to redefine a "high" and "low" charge state. If current is constantly being supplied or drained, then it will see those values as a "blip" rather than a calibration number.
It isn't always a bad battery, sometimes it's just miscalibrated.
Quick Drain after 15% Is Reached.

I have this problem too. When my battery gets down to about 15%, I get a warning that I must plug in my charger immediately. I have to do it within 15 seconds or so or my battery plummets all the way to 0% and shuts down the phone. My phone is not rooted, so I don't think I have a "Recovery Mode". Or do I? Would I use the same procedure and be able recalibrate my battery ? When I restart my phone by regular (unrooted) startup after a 100% charge and 4 hour wait, would I get a Recovery Mode option or not? If not would it still recalibrate the battery?
How much are you guys losing overnight ? I'm draining about 1%/hr in stand-by now (deep sleep) , I remember I used to lose max 2% overnight awhile ago

Google made some changes recently in its services that has had a negative effect on battery life. I am sure they will fix it. Lots of people complaining about it on a lot of different devices.

I checked last night and I lost 2% over 7 hours. I'm using an L05 so I dunno how much of a difference that makes.

Yea this was similar to my drain months ago . Eh idk why it's changed . Have had the same setup all this time , with amplify (wakelocks/alarm blocker) and deep sleep when screen off (PowerNap) . I have switched the sim to at&t (previously T-Mobile) .. Though both have a similar signal range at home . Not sure , will try with a t mobile sim again and will compare .

Stratos 2 - Battery Low - 20minutes - 1% Loss

I am using Stratos 2
Version 2.3.11.1
after 20 minutes , 1% loss.
I dont uderstand , i turn on airplain but it still too.
Now, What should me do ?
1 months ago, i bought.
You can reboot the watch for starters, uninstall all apps that you installed and finally if nothing works, factory reset it.
1% lost or 1% remaining ?
1% is not a significant value to conclude anything
