Device is a SM-N916S from Samsung (Galaxy Note 4 S-LTE Exynos 5433 ver.) for anyone that's wondering. It's current state : Completely stock with no root. USB debugging disabled. No Samsung Account linked to device. Can't change password through ADM. No more guesses left for the password anymore, any more will reset the phone.
So yeah. For the past few days I've been trying to bypass Android Device Manager's remote "Lock" feature that's meant to keep your data safe from theives. As for why? Long story short : I tried to pull a cruel prank on my brother by remotely locking his device through ADM. I have since forgotten the password (it was a random combination of letters and numbers that I thought I could remember, but obviously not.) and trying to set a new password through Android Device Manager just gives me the infamous "Since Google has verified that a screen lock is already set, the password you entered won't be needed." error message.
Now, if this was phone that belonged to me, I would just install a custom recovery and remove the password with a password disable zip, but unfortunately, that is not an option here. Oh yeah, I should probably mention that I CANNOT void the warranty (as in trip the KNOX counter) under ANY circumstances and would very much like to avoid a factory reset. Am I out of luck here? Or is anyone here aware of a method that can be used to bypass the ADM lock / or a way to backup data without root access / adb. Thanks.
Hi everyone,
I wanted to ask a question about the android find my device feature.Everyone knows that icloud does not allow you to use any device after being factory resetted, until you enter the credentials of the original apple id used on the device.I know that it is possible to remove a passcode from an android device if you reset it from Recovery.I want to know if there is a way by which we can make it so that no one can access an android device until the original google account is entered. This is just in case my device is stolen.
Thanks
There is FRP (Factory Reset Protection) protection, but it is easily bypassed in some situations.
My phone got stolen yesterday. Luckily phone & SIM both were protected by a PIN. Now my questions are
1. Will Factory reset protection will protect my phone from accepting any other google account login. Does it work automatically or I had to enable it before it got stolen?
2. Can the thief flash different firmware to use it?
3. Should I take the trouble of requesting the police to block the IMEI of my stolen phone?

Sorry to hear that.
1. FRP will kick in, but there are many videos for many different phones with steps how to bypass FRP. So anyone diligent enough can bypass it.
2. Once someone gets through FRP, he can unlock the bootloader and flash whatever he wants. Without disabled FRP, phone can be probably still reflashed in EDL (which requires an authorized Mi Account).
3. You should report it, but IMEI blocking must be supported by operators and also IMEI can be changed. So at the end it's your call if it's worth your time.
** PLEASE UNDERSTAND -- I'M LOOKING TO PRESERVE THE DATA, NOT RESET THE PHONE AND ERASE EVERYTHING**
My daughter, unexpectedly, passed away last month and I just received the phone from the investigators. I didn't know her PIN but want to preserve any data.
My daughter's phone displays "Your phone is encrypted for security. To start up your device, enter your PIN." A number of attempts at the PIN has left me with 3 attempts before it resets to factory default settings.
When I contacted AT&T for help, they directed me to Samsung. The Samsung technician directed me to a YouTube video that claims to download the data, perform a factory reset and then restores the data. It seems very sketchy to me and would rather talk to the experts here.
I have rooted phones in the past but it's been 4+ years. I am very cautious about trying anything that would jeopardize losing the data for good.
I have seen one video that demonstrates unlocking the PIN by installing TWRP, browsing with the File Manager to /data/system/ and renaming whichever file is associated with the PIN (ie. gatekeeper.password.key, gatekeeper.pattern.key, etc.). I don't know how to install TWRP if her phone doesn't have USB Debugging enabled. She and I have identical phones so I am willing to try anything on my phone prior to trying it on her phone.
** NOTE ** Through some trickery of swapping SIM cards, I was able to reset her Google password having Google text a code which has to be entered in order to set a new password.
Hello,
I have Huawei Honor 9 STF-AL10(al09) (chinese version 6gb/128gb) which can not unlock. Before some days i gave the phone to my child for playing, then he put lock pattern and he forget it next day.I was using my phone with my fingerprint ,whitout know the lockpattern, and some days later, it says fingerprint suspend - pattern required. And i am trying everything and cannot unlock it. I know the email which is connect the phone, i try when open it in google devices, but is not allowed USB debug and not allowed Find my phone and cannot unlock. Is there have any way to unlock and keep information in. I have a lot of doc, notes and some apps.
I need to save everything as it is inside.
I can wipe and recover, but i need to save everything.
Is there any software do this(doesn't matter if its paying).
Until somedays i have option every 1 hours to try 3 times, but from now is every 24 hours only 1 time.
Or, if there have any way to unlock again with my fingerprint and after that i will allow usb debug and remove lockpattern?
Please help.
Thanks!
Regards,
Georgi
Have you tried third party programs like dr.fone?
This article has some positive reviews, check it out as well.
You can't unlock bootloader on huawei devices so you can't recover data from it :/
If you're desperate you can follow this article here to unlock bootloader on your device, it's quite expensive though.
Also unlocking the bootloader wipes all data and that's obviously not what you want.
Should all of the above mentioned fail then I really think wiping it is the only option.
Should you succeed then do post what worked for you here so anyone viewing the thread in the future knows what to do.
I can do wipe data/cache from boot menu and i can reset it, i know the email and everything, but i need to save everything as it is inside.
I was thinking, if there have any way to bring again to unlock with the finger print and i will fix it.
It is not a problem, i will pay for Dr Fone, but i was write to them to ask, is the software can help me, without losing anything inside, but they not responding me.
I am trying any combination with lock pattern, but the problem is that now is only 1 try in 24hours and killing me.
Yes, If i find solution i will post it, to save a lot of searching for somebody else.

If you know the email then why not reset the pin?
You can't get the fingerprint to work if it says fingerprint suspended, it's a security feature in Huawei phones and you have to enter your pin.
Try sending it to an authorized service center, they may be able to help you.

What I mant by PIN is the device password, or lockpattern.
Did you try forgot my password?
If you have a Huawei ID and you're signed in on your device then follow this guide here.
If all of that failed as well then I'm sorry to inform you that your data is no longer recoverable.
Make sure to do regular backups to avoid this mistake again. I personally use this app.
Also turning on parental control mode when giving your device to your child is another way to avoid this happening again, I personally wouldn't blame my child for this.

I commend your determination annon, but please don't waste your time.
There is no way to recover the data. You don't have debugging mode on, no root, no unlocked bootloader or custom recovery, you don't have a Huawei ID, and google account/google find my device doesn't work.
I don't mean to interfere in your family issues, but as I said I wouldn't blame my child for it. Judging from the way you spoke they're still young.
Instead I'll turn on parental control mode before giving my device.
I will try to find a way with fastboot, if there have some way to do it, i can see the device in ADB terminal , it recognize it at fastboot device, when start the phone in fastboot recovery menu.
Yes, he is 8 year old, i'm not blame him, they are child - it is normal for them.
